We go to PetSmart Chantilly and Springfield on a regular basis. We love both locations. Our dog is a runner and just loves to play with the other dogs at camp. He comes home exhausted which keeps ill behaviors at bay. When he has back to back dog walker days at home, he gets too rambunctious and tends to find trouble. It has decent prices too. We like to give our dog a change of scenery so Chantilly is nice - more room to play given there's a few less dogs in day camp. It's convenient too because it's on my way to work. I'd recommend this location to any friend or family member with high energy dogs. read more

I bring my buddy Odin here to get his nails ground. It's $11.00 and they fit you in anytime. Great value and he's not clicking around when he walks. The people that work in the grooming center are always very kind and helpful. Actually all of the workers seem very nice and helpful, but how could you be in a bad mood when there are animals wondering around your place of work all day? The only downside is you take your "receipt" to the front to pay and sometimes there can be quite a line. read more

I boarded my dog here for new years eve. My dog was very well looked after and the staff was very friendly. They took good care of my dog and provided great customer service. I'll definitely be boarding my dog here in the future! read more

Great location and great store. Always clean and the staff is helpful. Banfield associates are ok. They aren't as great as the Petsmart staff. read more

Terrible protocols when it comes to the prescription diet food. My cat has been on the hill rx food for years and the Fairfax location has always take the banfield prescription card I have no problem. I stopped at this location since it was on my home from work and Marcie said she couldn't sell me the food because my prescription card was expired. I have been using it for over a year after it was expired. (I didn't know it was expired). So she told me I needed to have it renewed and refused to sell me the food. Thankfully the banfield was still open and they gave me a card no problem. So in order to purchase food from this place I have to go to a little counter to get a card that I can hand the cashier so she can type in the exact number that was on the expired card. Seriously don't see why these have to have explorations dates. My cat will be on this food for the rest of his life. read more

Today I called in around 2 to make an appointment for my two dogs for face trims. They associate told me they don't make appointments to just walk on in. Cool. I get there around 6 and let the lady know what I was there for. Clearly she was new or something because she sounded very confused, nervous and asked me if I made an appointment. No problem, I won't hold that against her. The real reason for my 2 stars is the woman who was cleaning up was SO RUDE! I wish she was wearing a name tag so I could put it on here but she didn't have one on. I asked her if she could please along with the face trim just cut off literally maybe an inch of thin hair from my one dogs ears. She was very cold and rude with her response which was "not with the face trim". I had to laugh because literally it would have just taken a snip of her scissors(will attach pic). I was kind of pissed because for ALL THE MONEY I spend at this Petsmart between grooming, dog food, dog treats, dog toys(you get the point) the very LEAST they could do customer service wise was trim that little bit. For her to tell me no was so appalling but if that's Petsmart policy it is what it is. Very silly to me honestly and I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what. I probably would have taken it better and not have felt like writing this review if I would have gotten a better response. Maybe, "I'm so sorry it's not included with this face trim, it would be an extra ----" or "Unfortunately that's not included in the face trim, would you like us to add it on? It would just be an additional ---" I mean as a loyal customer I really don't think I am asking for too much. The groomer who cut my dogs hair was Heather and she was by far the kindest I encountered today and she did a great job on my dogs face trim. Thank you very much for your help Heather. To the rude women cleaning up, I hope you have a better attitude with your other customers and personally I think you should really work on your customer service. Debating on ever returning to this grooming salon.... read more

PetSmart - That little bit of extra hair on his ears was what they told me they could not do. For $10 she told me no.....wow. - Pet Stores Near Me - Chantilly, Virginia

It's very rare you go to places that give you exceptional service and today demonstrated that. My relative was babysitting my sisters pet's which are two dogs and a fish and that relative informed me today at the last minute as my sister and her family were coming home from a trip that the fish was dead. Your sales associate in the aquatics department professional handled my situation by studying the dead pet and identifying out of the fish you have there which one would be the 90% match. After getting the fish and being rung out at checkout the associate marked my purchase as an even exchange and expedited my experience which I did not expect and for that made my day feel slightly better as it was a gesture that you don't normally see when your in a retail environment. Thank You PetSmart Chantilly for today's exception. read more

The Petsmart groomers are consistently great. I noticed that they document what type of cut your pet had on its last visit. Whenever I call in, I feel like they all remember the perfect cut they did on my cute Pomeranian (yes, cuter than Bo)! I come here because grooming companies charge way more and do not deliver consistent results. read more

We were in the market to buy a bearded dragon for my son. Let me start by saying that I am terrified of snakes and reptiles in general. The bearded dragons are displayed next to the snakes in this store. This was the third pet store we visited in search of the perfect bearded dragon. Two knowledgeable employees spent over 30 minutes answering all of our questions. They were sensitive to my snake phobia and made sure I was warned of where the snakes were. They not only shared their personal experiences but also allowed us to handle several bearded dragons. They patiently assisted in us in selecting and purchasing ideal habitat setup for our future pet. Needless to say, we purchased all of the necessary supplies here. We ended up purchasing my son's bearded dragon from another store due to size and color variation preferences. read more

This is the first time that I've been at any PetSmart stores cause their locations are far from my crib. I usually buy at PC only. But this time, decided a go since I'm at Chantilly area and exploring places. First of, this branch is Hugh, knowing it's a pet store, and the aisles are neat and clean. The merchandise are well arranged, and easy to find. They have pretty much everything that you're gonna need for your poochy and catty. They have a room for training and socializing dogs where you can see the employees and pets through the glass. They also have for what I believe is a mini hospital or clinic. You can see them grooming the dogs. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that, when I came in and the entire time I was inside the store, no one offered to help. Employees were pretty much busy doing their thang. But anyways, if you're a DIY kind of person, that wouldn't be an issue. read more

We ended up here to start a small freshwater aquarium. After taking several different trips, we seemed to get different advice from each employee... After we went home with a neon tetra and a guppy for our 3 gallon tank, both died in about 12 hours. After a trip back, we met a new (very fish enthusiastic) employee and were told to use a different water treatment product. We also decided that tank was too small, so we went up to 10 gallons. Waited a week to cycle the tank and returned for fish. A different employee said we also needed salt, so we got that and came home with 2 different tetras and a platy to start. Returned 1 week later to add a couple more fish. Yet another employee told us we should have never bought 2 different kinds of tetras and was surprised one hadn't killed the other. She made us feel like idiots and wanted to know who the employee was. I had no idea. We went home, took out the "bad guy" tetra and returned him as she suggested. Yet another employee said that was sort of unnecessary and that tetras want to school so we should get 3 or more of same type. Ok, what? So we got 2 more tetras and a guppy while leaving "bad guy" there. Well, 1 day later, the guppy died. It's been a complicated process and hard to explain to my 6-year old twins why this keeps happening. The store is clean and people are friendly, but I wonder who is actually giving good advice since we get a different story each time. Plus this has turned out to be a very expensive "starter aquarium" with so many different trips and new chemicals recommended each time. read more

Took my Lab mix to the Petsmart Chantilly grooming department for a bath package. I was easily able to make an appointment online. When I arrived, Danielle (I think that was her name) was super friendly and helpful. While she up-sold me on services, I was very pleased with Reese when I picked her up a few hours later. Her coat was so shiny and soft, and she smelled great! And even more important, she was a happy dog! Although some may not be comfortable using a big-box store like Petsmart, I will be back for more grooming. I was very pleased with the service they provided. read more

I brought my two dogs in to have them groomed. The elder of the two, 18 months, is a little over the top when it comes to being groomed and the younger, 12 weeks, has never been professionally groomed. I was lucky enough to have had Chris and Kelsey as my groomers, they took their time and had extreme patience when dealing with my "problem children". I will be making this a monthly experience for them and the groomers. I highly recommend them. read more

After two years of wonderful experiences with the Fredericksburg Petsmart and now terrible experiences at Petsmarts up north, we have decided to switch to Petco. Experience at Chantilly Petsmart: we take our bulldog in for grooming at 12pm for his appointment at 3pm (thank god he had eaten breakfast and a treat). It was a Sunday and they called at 6:05 to tell me they were closed and I needed to be there in five minutes, I didn't realize they closed so early on Sundays but I will take the fault for that, as I should have read the hours. So they told me it would be $26 for an over night stay...understandable. I ask what time we should be there to pick him up, and the girl tells me they won't feed or walk him so I better get there as early as possible. I was APPALLED, how could they be so inhumane? We pick him up in the early morning and they told us we better pay the bill first, as they hadn't let him out of the cage or fed him (no food in over 24 hours at this point, and I know full well they feed Science Diet at the pets hotel) since yesterday, also that we had better get him right outside. Predictably the first thing my well house-trained 4 yr old bulldog does is pee a huge puddle in the middle of the store because the poor thing couldn't hold it, and even looked guilty doing so. Not to mention his ears were sloppily cleaned and his face was still dirty, didn't even smell overly bathed, at least his nails were properly clipped - about the only redeeming factor. We left in disgust and I full intentions of complaining to the manager. We have spent literally a couple thousand dollars at Petsmart, Banfield memberships for both our dogs, surgery, grooming and I do not expect to be treated this way. P.S. Read Fairfax Petsmart reviews to find many very similar to mine, I'm sure it only a matter of time until Chantilly becomes just as terrible. read more

This review is in regards to the grooming salon. We had called and booked for our 2 year old Shitzu for a grooming appointment 3 days in advanced. 30 minutes before our appointment, I get a call from them stating that they were calling to let me know that they are canceling my appointment because of my dogs aggressive behavior the last time. I was confused because NO ONE mentioned this to me at the end of the last appointment or WHEN I INITIALLY made the appointment. My dog has been there 3 or 4 times and no one has ever mentioned or warned me about his behavior. All the reports stated he was fine. I asked to speak to management to question why no one told me before and why did you wait to tell me 30 minutes before the appointment. The response...employee was probably scared to tell me. SCARED? What kind of excuse is that. It's was an UNPROFESSIONAL response. They stated that in the system it states he was aggressive and there is nothing they can do...sorry. I explained that I had a important party at my house and that was the reason I booked it for that Saturday in advanced. They said there was nothing we can do. I decided to call the Reston location which my dog has also been to in the past. I told them what happened and they were shocked and agreed how unprofessional the Chantilly location was. They checked their system and stated he was fine and they took him in for appointment immediately. They were for apologetic and explained that each grooming salon is on its own so there isn't anything they could do about that location. read more

We adopted a 7 year old dog who was badly in need of training. We have owned dogs our entire lives, and in fact currently own four, so we know about training dogs. We were at our wits ends with this newly adopted dog, so, on a whim, we decided to try the Petsmart training. We enrolled for six weeks of training with Lee Digangi. She is a breath of fresh air. She is enthusiastic about each and every "student" in her class. Her training methods are simple and kind. She taught us things we had never even thought of. Our dog, Domino, has learned all the basics, to trust us, and to want to be with us. He walks nicely on a leash now, and he will sit and stay on command. It may not sound like much, but he was a messed up dog that someone dumped into a kill shelter. Thanks to Lee and her gentle techniques, Domino is not only a loved and treasured member of our family, he is a nice and well behaved loved and treasured member of our family. Thank you, Lee. This review is for the grooming salon: I took my dog here for a nail trim. The groomer told me that she could not complete the nail grind - that my dog would not let her! For reference, my dog is a 30 pound beagle mix. My dog is now completely traumatized by the idea of a nail trim or grind. She will not let me or anyone near her nails; in fact, she runs into the other room at the sight of a trimming tool. She was perfectly fine getting her nails trimmed prior to this awful experience. Be warned! Go to Pet Supplies Plus instead. read more

This is a review for Lee, the trainer that works at the store. After we brought home our shelter dog, we talked with her, and we were immediately impressed with her professionalism and dedication. We have taken both beginning and intermediate training courses with her. In addition to her being an excellent trainer, you can tell that she is a trainer because she loves working with animals. Lee always answered all of our questions, and frequently stayed after class to address specific concerns either we, or our other classmates were having. She truly is a gem, and our dog loves her. Every time we go to the Petsmart, he gets so excited, and I think it's because he thinks he's going to class with "Miss Lee" as we call her. That is in sharp contrast to when we first brought him home, and he was terrified of the store, and would bark hysterically. Lee gave us the tools and compassion to take a shelter dog that have never been trained (not even housebroken at a year and a half!!!) to successful train him. Don't get me wrong, it's a constant process, but we've made amazing strides with her help. I would never consider working with any other trainer. Period. She is that amazing. read more

This is the crappiest and worst place to take your pets or to get your pet needs! Took my 11 month old puppy to get groomed and was scheduled an appointment with a young man. However, after going to our appointment a person named Kelsie who is the manager of the grooming lounge (ironaclly) took my puppy in. While going back home, I got a call from this person whose name I despise of saying told me that my puppy "bit" her and she was bleeding really badly. I was already shocked to hear that my dog would do such a thing because he has been groomed many times before and never did we have any complaints, but the attitude and her tone was absolutely unacceptable! When i went to see whats going on I was greeted with such drama, attitude and bs that I was being shouted at for no reason. My poor dogs heart was beating so fast, only god knows what that monster did to him while he was there. I talked to the store manager whom did absolutely nothing to accodomate the services I had purchased or offered another person to finish the grooming. My dog is left with a huge uneven cut on his fur! The managment there is horrible, unprofessional and disgustingly rude. Never will I step foot in this company again in my life. Do yourselves and your pets and never shop here! read more

I took my cat into the Banfield Vet in the Petsmart Chantilly location. These drs are phenominal. I had an emergency on a sunday that jeopardized my kitty's life. They called in another dr and immediately got to work saving him. In addition, they called the next day to ensure he was doing well. What great service and follow up during an emotional time. Big thanks to them, I will definitely be back! read more

There is a female manager over the fish area who is extremely rude. Initially I thought she was having a bad day but upon subsequent visits she doesn't speak, welcome me to the store, ask if she can help me and most recently she actually inserted herself physically between someone working there who was bagging some feeders for me and myself and never said "excuse me" or even acknowledged my presence as a customer. Everyone else I've encountered there is and has been above board. I know I should find another store and I probably will but this one is so close to home and I pass it everyday to and from work. read more

I took my Siberian Husky in for the Pawdicure which calls for a nail trim and ear cleaning and was suppose to come with a free bandana. I was very pleased as to the service and they were almost being too nice with my dog. It was his first time (with me at least) and you could tell he was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. But he does that with everything we try to do with him. (He's 8 months old) I wanted to stand and watch just to see how he would do but they seemed uncomfortable with me standing there so I walked around the store to grab other things I needed. About 5 minutes later, I came back and he was all done! I came in to grab him to ask how he was and she said "he was nervous so I did have to ask a coworker to hold him down." She said it with such guilt which was not needed at all! We're usually rough with him since he's still a pup and is just nervous about everything. I'm very pleased with the service but was sad he didn't come out with a bandana which was what I was looking forward to LOL! Oh well. Will definitely take him back for more services. read more

like the previous person commented, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE FOR GROOMING!! This place is like hell for dogs. not only they get injured, this place has the most impatient staff and they have the worst customer service. I won't be so furious if you admit that you have hurt my dog because i understand the trouble they have to go through. but come on, a little honesty will go a long way. i trusted you guys for my dog, and now you just lied in front of my face thinking i wouldn't find out after i get home? seriously. with me, they even black listed one of my puppy cuz she was too scared on the grooming table, she was shaking too much for them to groom. It happened twice so they black listed her. at first i thought it really was my dog's problem, so i took her to another Petsmart but she did fine. After a year, i went back to this Petsmart again thinking since one of my two dogs are groomed here, might as well get two of them here. Also after a year, my puppy isn't a puppy anymore and it shouldn't be a problem. OH NO! they said no, they said once you are blacklisted, you are blacklisted for life! i told him i took the same dog to a different Petsmart and they did fine, so why can't they? and after more than a year, still no? i just don't understand. but anyhow, if you love your dog, bring him/her to a better place. read more

This review is for the service in the main part of the store. I went there over my lunch break so I had limited time. Only 1 person was at the register and the rest of the store was a ghost town. Another customer and I needed crickets so waited at the desk for awhile and then she let the register girl know. After another 5 min. of no one showing up and a worker who was too busy on his break to help us, she yelled up to the register to ask again for help. This got another worker to come out of the back and he tells her she doesn't have to yell. Yes, actually she did or we would still be standing there. Overall, I've been to this store many times and my experience has been similar to this. The service is slow and no one goes above and beyond to help you out. The store is older looking and has a dirty look to it. I found multiple boxes of dead crickets that smelled bad and hadn't been cleaned out in a while. The owner of this branch needs to come in and take a look at their store and the workers. It is worth it to drive further to the Fair Lakes one to avoid going to this one. read more
