At first I thought, "Why would they open a Petsmart when there is already a Petco at the town center? Well, I'm glad they did because there's something about the store overall that is more inviting that Petco. They more or less have the same products, however I believe Petsmart has a a few more items that Petco. The store is always clean and items are easy to find. I own a cat and dog so navigating items for the both of them is a breeze. Workers have been friendly, sociable, and I always feel welcome in the store by them. Great selection of animals toys, snacks, food, necessities etc. I'm the type that purchases Natural Balance and Blue Buffalo for my pets and those are two brands you will not find at Walmart for sure. Food sold at stores like Walmart is like fast food for animals! OVERALL: So glad there is a Petsmart in Cerritos =D read more

I've been to this location multiple times, everyone's pretty friendly. I'll pick up random toys for my dog here and have no problem with that. I personally haven't tried the hotel, so I can't really say anything about it. I did also bring my Dog to get groomed, no hair cut needed as he's a short hair but primarily purchased the package that I thought was $23 for, expressing gland, nails and dew claw trimming and oatmeal shampoo. I ended up spending around $36 bucks, to get the oatmeal shampoo and I don't think there was any trimming done as his dew claw was still sharp and the glands weren't expressed. notes say everything was A-Okay, which is great but I wouldn't have brought him if he was just going to get shampooed. Don't want to say bad things about them, but I felt as if I just get a $36 rinse for my boy which we do on our own and can get the glands expressed at our vet with a check up. I think the grooming and treatment is drastically different for a longer haired medium to small dog. I have a 95lb puppy hahah read more

I absolutely love to bring my dog to get groomed by Rubbie!!! But yesterday Rubbie was off so I had to get Veronica. I started to worry when it was taking a while for them to call me to pick him up so I went and asked if he was done. Clerk Yasmine said yes but that he got into his bowl and wasted water on himself so they had to redry him. I waited patiently but when they finally brought him out he was covered in blood Vero was saying she doesn't know where the blood is coming from but she may have nicked him during his cut. I was furious but remained calm she kept saying we will pay for his vet bill. I DONT NEED THE MONEY! He is my family and I trusted him in your care. I took him to the vet and it was more than a nick she cut apart of his ear off! Why didn't they call me immediately instead of trying to stop the bleeding enough for it to go unnoticed. I am very disappointed. My dog has been very traumatized from this he is not eating. I am very hurt. read more

The worst service ever. I tried to allow pet smart workers to redeem themselves but nooo. They taped down my puppy ear when trying to place the name tag around her neck. I had to pull her hair away from being caught in the tape. The told me she did not potty all day. She was in puppy day camp from 0700-6pm, yet my dog smelled like she bathed in pee.. I mean it reeked! read more

I've decided to review this place to try to balance out the bitter reviews that don't do this place justice. PetSmart is simply a pet store. Anything else is just and amenity, like the PetsHotel, Banfield Hospital, and pet prescriptions. All Petsmarts offer what they can based on the space available. No, there is no Banfield at this location. No, they don't carry the prescriptions that my cat needs. But the PetsHotel is a trusted, convenient location I can leave my cat at when I leave home. You can trust that you pet will be in a safe environment, considering the strict policy they have when taking guests! For what it is, I find this location super organized and super clean. The employees have always been patient and kind with me. For example, the time they had a promotion on Simply Nourish treats and I had to purchase 6 of them in separate transactions. And for everything else I can't find here, the LB location is thankfully just a short drive away. read more

Small, over priced, limited selection. I was at the Long Beach town center store where they had one of the two harnesses I needed. So I purchase one and head over to the Cerritos store approximately 3.5 miles away. I was very disappointed that the SAME harness was $4 higher at the Cerritos store. I thought maybe a fluke...nope, today the same. A bag of puppy food was over a dollar higher at the Cerritos location, "on sale" at both. So, Dear Cerritos neighbors, you are not saving money at this location...you're paying more because it's Cerritos. The size is a problem when training is happening in the isles and your attempting to move around it. Further, everything is super squished and hard for my mom in a wheelchair to get around in since they stuff so many end caps and put on displays leaving very little room to move around. Will not be returning to this store. read more

Yes, Petsmart is a tad better that Petco, just a tad. However, this Petsmart store always doesn't have what I specifically need for my pet. I buy holistic food and snacks for my baby, she loves Blue Buffalo by the way. But, I always end up going to the store in LB town center for what I really need. Always epic fail here. read more

I would like to give this PetSmart no stars at all! There's just no option. Decided to bring our pug to this new location because it's near & we received a coupon for $5 off. Worst decision! The groomer said she didn't trim our dogs nails because she was not cooperating with her and was bitting her!??! We have our dog for 9 years now and never heard any complains!! We usually bring her to a groomer or petco at the town center too and they are awesome! My mistake of checking this petsmart! The groomer didn't even inform me about the nails until I asked her! Still pay for the whole amount! The reason we bring our dogs to a groomer is because we couldn't it, we take them to professionals! But I guess, wrong place to bring our dog here. read more

My chi spaniel goes to camp at least once a week, and she loves it. We have tried other locations but she just loves it here. In the other hand every time I pick her up I get like a progress report and I can see how good she's getting better social skills and appetite (she eats better since she started coming to camp) read more

I have brought my dog here 2 times for grooming. I have a Bichon frise. I scheduled an appointment at 10am so he would be done earlier in the day. I waited until 2pm to call since I didn't here from them. They said his appoint was at 11pm and I told them, no it was at 10am and so that's why I dropped him there at that time. She then said no I mean the groomer wasn't there until 11pm. I don't understand why they allowed me to schedule at that time when there was no groomer. So now the estimated time is a 5hr groom. I'm upset that no one called to inform me that the he was going to be later than expected. When I dropped him off they said it would be about three hours. This will be the last time I bring my dog here for a groom. read more

I would have to give this place one star. I use to come here about 2x a month to get my dog groomed. the first time I came they needed paper work so I had to drive back which I don't mind but if I called ahead the lady should've told me. than the 2nd time I called to schedule an appointment the lady said she couldn't find my dogs paper work in the system so I had to bring it back again with my dog. after all the paperwork was sorted out I came back about 6hrs to pick up my dog since that's how long till they called me, first thing I hear is my dog barking for bloody murder he rarely barks!! than the lady from earlier said to never bring my dog back again!! he was crying and shaking I don't know what they did to him but I will never take him back and if your truly an animal lover I would question the quality of service at this location. read more

They have good customer service and I love the convenience of this place: grooming, shopping, Vet services, adoptions, doggy day camp and pet hotel. The kids also like looking at the reptiles and birds so it's a nice little form of entertainment for them. read more

Excellent service. I walked in looking for a doghouse for my German Shepard. Simon quickly offered assistance and led me to the houses. He gave me great advice and made it easy for me to choose the right house. He finished my order and I was on my way. Simon was very helpful and courteous, a rarity now a days. Also, Petsmart will pricematch. read more

First time taking my puppy (Maltipoo) to groomer. (Have had other dogs and taken them to other Petsmart and other groomers). Did puppy bath , nail trim, brush and teeth cleaning. 2 hours later they called that he was done. He smelled like he had a bath but still looked scruffy. Nails were still pretty long and sharp. Came home to brush him because he really looked like he wasn't brush and either they didn't do it or did a very poor job because a lot of hair was on the brush when I was done (see picture). I won't be coming here again. Like mama said you want something done right then do it yourself. Or go to a better groomer. The girls working did seem cheery. The one who helped me seemed a little too cheery. read more

PetSmart - Pet Stores Near Me - Cerritos, California

Although the staff was friendly, I wish that they had been more forthcoming about their breed exclusion policy when I made my reservation for doggy-day-camp. As a proud Pit Bull owner, I find it hard to believe that a corporation that takes pride in promoting animal welfare continues to perpetuate breed specific prejudice by denying them the ability to participate in day camp. Any dog can attack if provoked, so although I have a hard time wrapping my head around this policy, especially since all dogs are subject to behavior assessments, it is what it is. What irks me is that I wasn't made aware of the fact that my poor Sheldon wasn't permitted to socialize with other dogs until I picked him up later that day. Had I known this, I would have chosen to board my dogs elsewhere. Oh wait...there's more. Three days after my dogs' first day staying at the pet hotel, my English Springer, Stormageddon, began exhibiting signs of kennel cough. Bearing in mind that both of my dogs have been fully vaccinated, this was especially concerning. Two days later, Sheldon began showing symptoms as well. Neither dog was exposed to any other canine outside of that facility, and their vet has since confirmed that it is in fact Bordetella. When I called to notify the facility they said "thanks for letting us know, we'll be sure to do a deep cleaning." Perhaps if they "deep cleaned" regularly rather than waiting until someone reports an illness contracted from their facility, my dogs wouldn't be suffering. read more

I switched from this Doggy Day Camp from Long Beach after taking my dog to the Long Beach location every week for a year. The staff is friendly and genuinely care about the dogs. They hit a homerun with allowing us to drop off early. I 100% trust them with my dog's care while she is there. She's a regular and attends twice a week! The sole reason for 4 stars v. 5 stars is because they don't have a Banfield in their store, yet. I heard they should be soon. There is a little more piece of mind that if something happens, they can take them to the vet right then and there. We had our dog get sick one time during camp, they were able to take her over and be seen on the spot. In addition, Petsmart can only carry prescription food with a Banfield in the location. I typically have to go to the other Petsmart location to buy my cat's diabetic food. read more

Jenni at the grooming salon is AMAZING. She is the best groomer I have ever taken my dog too. She takes the time to actually get to know you and your dog. I understand we're in pandemic crisis but man...... brought my pet for an appointment that was made over the phone and spoke to one of the associate there I wouldn't want to mention the name but so disappointing that they will tell you that my pet didn't have an appointment today at 12:30 how inconvenient was that. You took off from work for a bit just to bring my pet to that appointment and all of a sudden this is what happened. I was so literally disappointed and upset that why would i make up the date and time of the appointment if I didn't spoke to a certain person there with those information ........ so upsetting!!!!!!!!!! I would understand if i have made the date and time mixed up but the case wasn't like that . Really i was annoyed. The time you have made for this and take off work for this appointment.....Very disappointed read more

We took our 1 year old dog to day camp for her first time to get her used to being around other dogs and initially things seemed to go ok. This was her first time at any daycare and she had never been kenneled before. Never been to any dog park or anything like that. Well a week later she developed kennel cough that she absolutely got from this location. So this one visit to day camp costed us a $350 vet bill and we didn't get so much as an apology when we called this location to let them know. I get that they can't control who comes to day camp and it's hard for them to always prevent this. I also get that it's their policy not to reimburse vet bills for this sort of thing but they could've apologized and at the least offered a voucher or discount for a return visit since we were new customers and this was our dog's first visit. To make matters worse our cat now has kennel cough from our puppy. I strongly encourage you to take your pets elsewhere. read more

I dropped my dog off today for a simple bath/brush. They informed me it would be approx 2 hours but can sometimes take longer. I verified the phone number I wanted to be contacted at and left. Neither myself or my wife received any text message or phone calls that he was done at 2:30. They did send an email to the email in the account however my wife had a heavy workload at work and wasn't able to receive her emails til an hour later. I finally received a phone call just before 5pm "reminding" me that buddy was ready. I asked why I wasn't contacted sooner and the person couldn't tell me why I didn't receive a text, only that I should have. When my wife finally arrived to pick up our dog, she asked to speak to a manager Melissa who did not want to help make the situation right, just told my wife to go into the groomers where they can help. We have filed a complaint with their corporate office but highly recommend that people are cautious when booking at this location since they can't follow thru in proper communication and take absolutely no responsibility. read more

i have never been so neglected and mistreated when it comes to adopting a cat. (add up the days she kept me waiting) *her name is delana. With thecatadoptionservice.com* i came into petsmart and fell in love with a black and orange cat named han solo. The lady that "helped" me was named lana. i asked about han solo and signed an application. she said the process would take 3 days so i waited 3 days. around the 4th day i was beginning to lose hope that they just disregarded me so i contacted petsmart to get a hold of lanas phone number and called her twice abd left voicemails. after another 3 days, i called again and she picked up. i explained to her that I still wanted han solo and was wondering if i didnt get her (i just wanted confirmation). she began to talk about how she thinks im too young and that a lot of kids my age just give up pets. (i understand) so i said i wasnt giving up on han and if i did. i wouldnt be calling. she said thats true. and she said we would keep in contact. she called me back a couple of hours later but i couldnt answer so she left a voicemail. her voicemail said she could probably just meet up with me and give me solo and the medicine he needed (han solo also had a cough) so i called back. *no answer*left a voicemail agreeing. i was excited. after another week i called again. no answer. i called again and again after that week. no answer. i even texted her to see if that was more convenient. no answer. i gave one last shot at calling. mind u this is about 3weeks after meeting han solo. she answered only to tell me she would call me back in 20 min and that she was so busy and so, apologized. a week goes by. no call back. no reply. ignored calls. i left a dissappinted voicemail saying that i give up basically. a week after that she replies to my text. saying and i quote "I will not bring Solo this weekend but I have been so busy and so sorry for not calling you back. just want to know you are commenting to him and not to ever give away. I like your persistence for her and that is a good sign" i replied saying that i will not continue to be treated like this and it was ridiculous how unprofessional she was. she replied with "WELL I AM NOT BRINGING SOLO AND ITS WAS NOT VERIFIED OF THE RESIDENT AND THE GROUP WILL NOT ADOPT SO SORRY" she thinks im irrelevant. she thinks i have no power cayse im just a 21 year old college student. and honestly maybe i have no power. but i just wanted everyone to know my experience. read more

This review is only for the grooming services: They have a ridiculous amount of rules that are not posted anywhere. I had to literally make 3 different visits to finally get her in. I wanted to give them a try plus they were close by. They will not allow your dog to stay there more than 1 hour prior to your appointment time. So do not bother with walk-ins, bc they will not hold your dog. Collar and Leash is much better and more flexible about taking in and picking up your dog. They need proof of rabies vaccination given (I came back with the receipt that stated I purchased a rabies vaccine, but that wasn't good enough. They needed the actual certificate). Then they wouldn't even allow to muzzle my dog while grooming (to bypass getting the rabies proof) because my particular breed (maltipoo) is the only breed apparently that can have breathing problems (yet there was no mention of bull dogs or any other breed having the same problem). It seemed like the manager was giving me every reason to not take my dog in. She was really not accommodating for the customer at all. When I finally did take her in, I asked when I could pick her up and one of the staff members said by closing which was at 9pm. The manager chimes in and then says 7pm at the latest. Again.. making things difficult. The manager states that keeping dogs in the kennel for more than an hour is stressful on them, yet the staff understands that they can stay for a few hours after the groom is done? This makes no sense. The manager needs to loosen up on all the "rules." OR at least post them somewhere, so you're not caught off guard and have to go back a trillion times. The rest of the staff seemed friendly and my dog was clean, but still did not have a good haircut. I told them to cut half the hair off the tail and leave 1/2 inch on the body. They didn't cut the hair on the tail and left 3/4 inch on the body. Very simple instructions like that could not be followed costs me another visit back to get it all corrected. read more

So today I went to PetSmart to get my dog a nice bath cause it's hot and he deserves some pampering. I scheduled an appt at 10:30. I arrive probably around 10:35-10:40 at the latest. There is a dog inside the grooming room and its lobby is the size of a closet and my dog gets real excited around new dogs so I wait in front of the door while 2 employees pet Zeke. The dog and owner finally leave and I walk in with one guest in front of me who is waiting to pick up her dog. This takes about 5-10 minutes. By the time I get to the desk it's 10:50. I let the groomer know I had an appt at 10:30 and she says "oh there's a 15 minute grace period and it's 10:50..." and I go and?! "Well if you come after 15 minutes your appt is cancelled so I can no longer take your dog, you can come back at 4." This is a joke right? I was here waiting patiently during your so called grace period and she's like "no you weren't I haven't seen you". (See security footage if its that big of a deal) Ask the 2 employees that were playing with my dog right outside the door, are you serious? I was here. "Well I'm sorry I have a big dog in the back that will take extra time so I can't help you" This is seriously a joke right? Where on your confirmation does it state this 15 minute grace period. NOWHERE. Absolutely abysmal display of customer service and some bogus 15 min policy that isn't shown anywhere. Even if there was, I WAS HERE WITHIN THE GRACE PERIOD, so you should still have to honor it right? Was I supposed to cut the 2 other customers before me to make it known I was here on time? And she still continues refuse my appt. lol if you don't want to work, than quit, don't make excuses. I believe the groomers name is Alexis. For my first experience at this groomer I'd have to say it was THE WORST. Can't believe she cancelled my appointment based on some policy I have not been able to find anywhere during the booking or confirmation of my appointment. Absolutely mind blowing. read more

My experience was frustrating and unpleasant. If I could, I'd give no stars. I came in at 6:40pm to check my dog in for a 3 night stay. I brought all the necessary paperwork with me as requested. However, I was told they would not honor her shot records for 1) The bordatella shot did not have a date written; and 2) the shots were hand written in and that they need an actual printout. I explained that our vet never gave us printouts before. Everything was always hand written. I ensured the guy her shots are current and that the bordatella was given at 15 weeks as recorded but he said he cannot honor it. He then called our vet but said it was closed. Well, that's a not rocket science, of course they would b/c it was past business hours. He then said if I can call and have them fax over her records, only then will be able to check her in. I mean, how is that even possible? He already knew that they were closed! I ended up leaving and took her elsewhere. He was not helpful. They need to improve their services. I mean c'mon, our immunization records are hand written by our medical doctors/nurses and are honored all the time so why not my dog's immunization record?! Never, will I come back or consider this place again. read more

I wish they would let you review for each section, but since they don't it hurts the whole store. The store part is AMAZING. Lots of helpful associates who also LOVE petting and playing with your furry companions. Training classes are AMAZING. However if you go through it once, you can probably do it again with a different dog. This review as a whole, however, is for the grooming salon. My mom and I take our dogs here periodically and we agree that it's pretty much overpriced. However I am so upset with the work we had gotten today (6/5/17). I took my shih tzu in for a walk in chalk work. I chose teal and purple to create a mermaid hair look and when I got him back he looked great! However, it was $10 which is waaaayyy too much for just his ears and front paws. Also I am beyond upset bc within around two hours the chalk from his paws was almost faded away and the hair in his ears transferred to his neck. Now I know that chalk is supposed to be temporary but charging $10 for it is beyond ridiculous. I am also upset bc they list chalking between $2 and $12 and for what little chalking was done, my dog's work was on the higher end. read more

We boarded our two cats at the PetSmart Pets Hotel. They were well-cared for and seemed happy and healthy. The area for cats is small and quiet and does not share the same air system as the dog lodging. The "Cat Condos" are bi-level cages, but comfortable with shelves. You can also have them open a port so your pets can visit each other. We ask for our pets to stay in the condos with the windows that overlook the store so they could people and pet watch.
