When I took her to the vet, I was informed that two ingrown toenails had been removed during her grooming appointment. My biggest concern is that no one told me this happened. If a procedure was performed or there was an issue with my dog's nails, I should have been informed when I picked her up. Instead, I was left wondering why my dog was suddenly limping and in pain. I understand that accidents and unexpected situations can happen, but communication with pet owners is extremely important. Had I been told about the ingrown toenails and their removal, I would have known what to expect and how to properly care for my dog afterward. I'm disappointed by the lack of communication and hope management addresses this issue so other pet owners are fully informed about anything that occurs during their pet's grooming appointment.

After much research we decided to try Ideal. The groomer arrived in the oversized van right on time. He petted and played with Leia in the front yard for a few minutes. She seemed very comfortable with him, she jumped right in the van with him. Three hours later we had a clean, nicely groomed pet again.

Upon entry, the first thing I noticed was how clean and nice-smelling it was. They pride themselves on their cleanliness and it shows. For those of us like me who are clean freaks, this is a huge bonus. The women at the lobby desk were super easy-going and friendly, making us feel right at home almost instantly. I loved everything I saw on the tour and decided for sure we'd be giving them a try for daycare. Luckily, my dog was staying with a family member who was able to bring him to his meet&greet, and pick him up a few hours later when he passed his assessment. The hours he spent there were on the house, part of his trial/assessment day. Another bonus! This is my first dog and I was so nervous about leaving him with anyone other than me, never mind a boarding/daycare facility where I don't know anyone. The staff here put my mind at such ease. And, the best bonus of all?! You can download their app and WATCH your pup play on a live feed! He stayed another day after his initial one, and all throughout the day, I kept getting on and checking to see how much fun he was having... and man was he having a blast! Too freakin' cute. I'll be using them again for daycare and eventually boarding when he's ready for that.

I was really in…read morehigh hopes that this clinic was going to deliver a great experience, but we ended up leaving before we were even seen by the vet after waiting for 45 minutes for the vet to come into the room. I have a pug so her breathing becomes exasperated from too much stimulation. After 40 minutes and seeing the vet walk into the room of another patient that came in 30 minutes after us, I went and asked one of the ladies behind the counter to let everyone know that we couldn't wait any longer and that we needed to leave. Our first appointment was at 2:00 for the first dog and then the other two were immediately following so we couldn't understand why we weren't being seen. I ended up leaving my other dog with my friend and her dog and immediately left to get my girl home so she could come down from the heavy panting. The staff made her wait another 15 minutes and then charge us for blood work and never even came back to us with the results. Total disappointment. I thought all the rumors about how bad the service is were going to be debunked in this visit however, Galveston Veterinary Clinic really lived up to the negative reviews. I will say that if you are a regular patient there, you do seem to get preferential treatment, so there's that.

I went to their website and filled up the forms. That same day, April 25th, I got a response that…read morethe earliest they can get Buncho in for the neutering is July 21. I get another email the next day confirming that Buncho is booked with Dr. Laura de la Prida with the date and time of appointment. July 12th I got a call asking for confirmation. I called back 4x to no avail and their voice mailbox is full. So, I emailed and told them my confirmation. They're really prompt in answering emails, just NOT phone calls. July 20th (the day before the scheduled appointment) I get another voicemail asking to re-confirm the appointment. So, I called and the lady I spoke to was clueless about what I was talking about and she eventually transferred me to the lady that actually called me for the "re-confirmation". Appointment day. I get there a few minutes before opening. I parked across the street from the clinic. A few more cars started to trickle in as my dog and I waited by the grassy area just outside the gate. A little after 8 am, they finally opened. I was the first to go in and I was immediately given the take-in forms for Buncho. Another lady took him especially since more people (and their dogs) started walking in the door. The waiting area is nice and clean and spacious. However, all the ladies that worked in there this morning seem to have woken up on the wrong side of their beds. No one smiling. You get the aura of "just-get-down-to-business". And now I'm getting a little worried for Buncho. If these people aren't happy being there, I sure hope they don't botch Buncho's neutering (first time dog mom worries here). I hesitated leaving but at this point, I'm just going to hope and pray they keep my baby safe the entire time he's out of my sight! I was told they'll call when it's time for pickup (between 12 noon - 3 pm). Well, 3 pm comes and still NO phone call. I called several times to no avail. I emailed and still no reply. So, I searched for them on FB and finally found their page. I sent a message through messenger telling them I'm on my way. Before I got in the car at around 3:20, I can see that they've read the message but still NO answer. At this point I'm already freaking out. As I was stopped at a stop light, I heard my phone ping and a one-liner message on messenger said "everything is fine with Buncho". That's it. Nothing said about when he needs to be picked up. I literally zoomed to their clinic livid but still trying to compose myself when I got there. I walked in and I can see they're extremely busy. I tried my best to be nice especially since my boys are with me and told them I never received a phone call and I'm there to check on Buncho. The lady on the front desk cordially said, "yes, he's been ready and that they're going to get him." I mean, how hard is it to make a quick phone call to let me know "he's been ready" this whole time?!! No apologies whatsoever but I'm just glad to finally see my baby again. I was ushered in as one other lady was giving me discharge instructions especially on how to put the e-collar on. It was a ginormous e-collar and the vet (Dr. Laura de la Prida) came over and told her to get a much smaller sized one. At this point, Buncho was already hyperactive and really needing to get out of there, so containing him with the leash was quite a struggle. I have to say, if it were not for the nice vet and the nice lady giving me assistance and giving me instructions on putting the e-collar correctly, I would've easily rated this place an overall 1 star. I try to be understanding and reasonable in giving this rating but NO COMMUNICATION during the time frame that they said they were going to call was UNACCEPTABLE and for that alone - that warrants a 1 star. But, the professionalism and care of the other workers and the vet made up for their lack of communication on the day of the procedure (an easy 5 stars for them). I paid a little over $140 (that's for the neuter, e-collar, pain medicine and antibiotics), a very reasonable price considering I was quoted about $500 from my other vet. Do I still recommend them. The answer is Yes. Despite the fact that I was super upset about zero communication the day of the surgery, I will still recommend them. I just hope they will find more help on that department because I can see that the vet and their assistants are doing extremely well in what they do. I can see they're expanding and they're in dire need of improving on their communication. They need someone to actually make (and take) phone calls. If they can address that, I have no doubt they'll be even more successful in what they do.
