I try to shop here to give small stores business vs. Corporate pet stores. Disappointed when Setauket closed because that was also a convenient location. My only complaint is pricing, they are on the expensive side, again, trying to keep up with bigger stores. They do have an excellent stock and selection. We were driving on Middle Country Road and I screamed out PETS WAREHOUSE... yea I didnt know what it was but usually warehouse=cheap stuff. I had a hungry pit bull who loves raw hide bones. So I went inside walked around and walked out with $100 worth of stuff for her. It always happens I cant just go in and buy raw hide, I have to buy raw hide, toys and treats. So the raw hide is about $20 bucks and its the big bone multi packs. SUPER CHEAP... their 40lbs IAMS mini chunk is a little more expensive than Target or Walmart, but just by a couple of dollars but they are cheaper than Petco. I recently got a cat and I had no idea that they were so expensive. This cat is on wellness and uses swheat scoop. I price checked around brooklyn, target and petco and found petware house to be cheaper by $10...FREGGIN AWESOME! Swheat scoop 40lbs bag was $26, Wellness 5.5 oz 12 pack was about $28... I saved so much money! The stock person was super sweet, he was willing to carry out my 40lbs of dog food right to my car. The prices are low, great variety and friendly service. A+ read more

Bought a creat for my 6 month old puppy. Was told if your puppy doesn't like it to bring it back for a refund. Well a few days later I go to return it because my puppy refused to sleep in it cried all night or whenever he was in there. I was told by a different person that I can only get back store credit and not a refund. Was told by two different kids when I purchased it that I could and this kid said I couldn't get one. That it was to her discretion if she wanted to take it back or not. I was so disgusted by that. No one is on the same page, you get different policies from different kids that work there. Stephanie asked me if I knew what I need and let me right in! I grabbed the dog food quickly, which is fairly priced, and checked out in less than a minute. One star because I have too....Do not shop here!!!! The owner has a terrible customer service attitude. All the dog beds are on sale and I found a fantastic one for a great price....too good to be true but they were all on sale so.....I bring it to the register, pay and get ready to leave. The young lady who rang me up then questions the price tag on the bed and believes it is mislabeled. She scans the bed itself and says it is labeled wrong and has to call her boss (the owner). He tells her that they will not honor the price which they mislabeled on the product and I can get my money back and put it towards another bed or get a refund. Since when do stores not honor prices they mislabeled on a product?! Since when is it my job to check the label numbers and the product numbers?! Just bad bad business. I have been using them for years spending so much money between 3 bangles they eat the best food and most expensive litter we are constantly getting toys and treats for them. I needed to return something and policy states 15 days I was in within 16 due to a holiday and they wouldn't give me the cash they insisted on store credit. She was rude nasty and inconsiderate. This review goes over how poor the employees personalities can be. I recently moved to Long Island from Brooklyn. (May 2014, to be exact) so I do NOT know the island very well at all. Well, I have a new job at PetSmart in Port Jefferson and my only means of transportation is by bike. Seeing as I was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived there until May of this year, I didn't think it would be necessary to get my license (working on that now). So in the meantime, bike riding is my way. Though I should probably consider a different mode of transportation as I have a bad knee (really, just minor arthritis in my right knee as diagnosed by three doctors) and the rides are really taking a toll on me. A few days ago was the first time I had to ride home. Again, I do not know any of these areas well at all. I had made a wrong turn along my way home and went from PetSmart in Port Jefferson all the way to Pets Warehouse in Selden ON BIKE. I was LOST, EXHAUSTED, CRYING, AFRAID. And as if that wasn't enough, I didn't have a working phone at the time. I figured I would pull into the first shopping center, go into the first store (as now it was around 8pm and I had left work on my bike at 6:30pm) and ask to borrow their phone to make an emergency phone call. I hopped off of my bike and pathetically limped into the store in a tank top, shorts, skippy shoes, with my bike, a backpack, tears running down my face (both from being lost and thinking I was never getting home and from the unbearable pain I was in due to my ridiculous ride in the wrong ditection) and a HUGE unmistakable knee brace on my bad knee. Every single employee in this place literally looked at me like I was a piece of trash. I ignored their blatant gawks of disgust, went up to the counter and waited patiently and politely for them to ring up a customer. Then said, word for word, "Excuse me, may I make a quick phone call? I don't have a phone and it is a bit of an emergency." The girl behind the counter (a bit older with darker hair) huffed, rolled her eyes and turned away. Way to give a lost girl a sense of security! I turned to the younger one and asked the same question. She politely said "Let me find out if I can, we really are not supposed to. But I'll find out." Then she disappeared in search of someone. The older employee turned to me and looked at me with an abhorred expression and then turned away again. I ignored it. The younger one returned with a short, stout, blonde-haired woman who wore glasses and was pushing around what seemed to be an inventory cart. Her first question? "Well, where's YOUR phone?" At this point I was a little frustrated so I snapped a bit (as would ANYONE at this point) and said "If I had one, I wouldn't be asking to use yours. Now would I?" She rolled her eyes once again and picked up a handset. The older woman shouted out "Is it a local call?" Um.... I'm lost. Who am I going to call to solve this issue? Superman?? I said "Yes." Know what she had the audacity to say next? "What's the area code?" I politely responded "631" and the woman with glasses stuck the phone out at me so I went to grab it. But she didn't release it right away, ohhhh no. She held a vice grip on it, looked me in the eye and said with a stern tone and such remorse "You have 5 minutes." What is this, prison?? I profusely thanked her (seeing as she was 'helping' me in my time of need) and dialed the first person I thought of - My boyfriend. He didn't answer the first or second time. When he finally did, I explained my situation (while being followed and stared down by the blonde with glasses the entire time) and told him where I was. He was profoundly worried, yet grateful that I was safe. He asked if he could call this number back for directions on how to get here, since he had never even heard of this place). Just before I answered the blonde with glasses shouted out (while I was standing 4 feet away from her) "Ummm, helloooo. We need that phone back." I had had enough. "No, you can't call back because this store is full of b*tches with no sympathy. I'll be waiting outside." And hung up. The blonde with glasses snatched the phone back and rudely said "Thank you." So I said "Don't f*cking thank me." And left the store to wait outside for my ride. Yes, I understand it was getting late and everyone wanted to go home. That's totally understandable. But when someone walks into your store crying, genuinely afraid, means no harm and has a minor disability, have some damn sympathy!!!! That one sweet girl who asked to lend me the phone followed me and was very sweet. She whispered the whole time (so as not to be heard by the other two, I imagine) but honestly cared if I would be okay or not. Everyone I know is hearing about this. Do not ever go to this store. They have literally the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I called the store to get the corporate number after an incident happened in the store with a pet. After the pet was hurt due to an injury cause by their automatic doors they neglected to even care if the pet was okay. Then after the pet had to go to the emergency room they refused to help with any of the cost and then proceeded to say that the only way they are paying is if they were taken to court and they're being forced. They even said if a person got hurt in the store they wouldn't even care or fill out an incident report. All I want is the number to the corporate office and I'm just told they can take my information and wouldn't even let me speak to a manager. I would never ever recommend anyone go to this store because they don't care about you or your pet. I wish I didn't even have to give this store a star review, I wish I could give it a negative 5 star or more. read more

Worst pet store ever. This is an email I sent them. hello, I recently bought a litterbox that didn't workout for my problem. I exchanged it for a different one within seven days and with a receipt on thursday december 13. I returned the new litterbox on saturday dec 15 cause it still didn't fix my problem. Today i was going to purchase $80.00 for dog and cat food and another $65.00 on two dog beds. Im not complaining about that, what I want to say is that the dog beds were the same brand same size the only difference was the color. They were two different prices the manager who is a teenage girl told me. I really wanted to buy the same color but she told me they only stock one of each color per size, and didnt want to give them to me for the same price, so I left the store and did not give them my hard earned $145.00, over a $1.00 price difference. I alway shop here and it seems like they cycle through employees frequently, and it is always teenagers working here, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it makes one wonder why wouldnt they hire an adult with experience and better people skills? I have been a customer for many years. I recently got another puppy making it now 3 dogs that I have. I went in to buy my puppy a case of holistic puppy food and decided to try a puppy playpen I asked the cashier if my puppy doesn't like it can i return it. She said "YES AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE BOX". Well I tried it he didn't like it went to return it the girl says I can only get a store credit cause it was more than 15days well I explained I was never told about the 15days or I would have returned it in 15 days. I ONLY HAD IT FOR 16 DAYS. I asked for a manager she said she's the manager. I asked to speak to her boss. SHE SAID II CANT HES NOT THERE. I ASKED FOR HIS NAME and NUMBER so I can speak with him she said she only has his cell and cant give it out. I asked for the corporate number she said she doesn't have it. i went into the store to buy a large guniea pig house, i asked the cashier if this for fit two guniea pig's she told me she didn't know. every time i go in there it's alway's the same cashier, she tell's me when i ask her for help she can't leave the register to help me on the floor and it is not that far away from the register. if she can't help the customer's or know's about the product's you carry, why did she take the job just for a pay check. she is short dark brown or black hair and a little chubby. the manger came up and we don't know if it would fit two guniea pig's, because they don't know the size of them. these are not the one's you get in preu that they eat. read more

If I could give this store less than 1 star I would. Do NOT shop at this store. Let me tell my story and you decide if you want to shop at a store like this. My husband purchased Frontline on Sunday, November 13th. After purchasing the item our vet advised that Frontline no longer works on fleas and should buy Advantix instead. On the receipt I received it does state no "refunds." However, since my packaged was not opened I called the store to see if I could get store credit or an exchange. After calling 2x (the first time no one called me back) I was abruptly told no and hung up on. So, I went on line to what I thought was their corporate contact us and wrote what happened. The next day the Manager called me and said if it was unopened she would allow me to exchange. I ran there after work and the Manage takes the unopened packaged to examine it to see if it was open. Right in front of my eyes she opens the packaged and proceeds to tell me it is open and she can not return the item. I was in shock to see such evil in front of my eyes. I argued and wanted to speak to her boss or corporate but said she just called them and they hung up on her. When I got home I decided to contact my credit card company to see if anything can be done. The credit card company advised me I was charged $58.65 which was different from the only receipt I received which states $51.99. Therefore, to make this whole situation worse they charged my credit card more than what was stated on the receipt. This is fraud. How many other people have they over charged. I guess they figure no one reviews their credit card statements. I plan to take this situation higher, but wanted to make sure the general public knows there is fraudulent activity taking place at this store and would advise people not to shop here. read more
