Nice store! Visiting from out of state and we were looking for something besides the big chain stores.

The Shaggy Dog

I've been taking my dogs to Brenda for over 10 years , she's always so caring and professional, my…read moredogs love a spa day at the shaggy dog !!! I would highly recommend them to everyone !!!!

I have a 12 year old Maine Coon cat, she has squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth that has spread…read moreto her two front paws. She is a happy cat that in spite of her disease is in suprisingly good health. She dose however require more frequent grooming as the cancer will cause her fur to become sticky and matted as a result of her grooming herself, this also causes her to have a foul Oder. My regular Groomer would not be available for three weeks, after calling several groomers in the area I found The Shaggy Dog pet groomers of Rocky Point. Brenda seemed very compassionate and caring as I explained our cats health issues and grooming need. I explained that I once had to have her completely shaved because she became so matted so fast and with more frequent grooming and shaving just her belly we have been able to avoid having her shaved again. She is after all a long haired cat! Brenda assured me all would be fine and I could bring her in this coming Saturday At 2PM. On Saturday my Husband dropped off our cat and again explained to Brenda her health issues and odor due to her cancer. He even explained that should she need to shave the matting to shave only belly. again Brenda assured him that it will all be ok. Two hours later Brenda Called she was all ready to be picked up. upon arrival our cat was in her carrier and ready to go. Brenda began to explain that she did in fact have to shave the matted fur, as my husband looked closer he was shocked to see a completely shaved cat. when asked why she shaved our cat her response was well you had her shaved before, that she was matted. She was only matted on her underbelly and leg area. She also said "What is that Smell!" After we had already explained that it is from the cancer. She took it upon herself to shave our cat without informing us first that she was going to do that. Any reputable groomer would notify the animals owner if they plan on making a drastic change to their look. Brenda did not do this. Both my husband and I gave her very clear instructions what to do and NOT to shave her body. She did not listen. Unfortanetly my cat will probably pass away from cancer before she ever gets her fur to grow back completely. I am so angry that this has happened. I will never use this groomer again nor will I ever recommend her.
