I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I HATE ordering from here. I used to love it because the calzones were good. My office has ordered from them MULTIPLE times and our order is always screwed up. Salads are watery. Tomatoes and croutons are always soggy. Disgusting. Forgetting to put stuff in a sub, putting the wrong stuff in. Or flat out just not putting our whole order in the bag. Then when we call...they never apologize or even take responsibility. Today we ordered a big bag of chips to go with our order (which was all screwed up) - we got no chips but they charged us for it!!!! Never again!! Stay away from this shitty place!! read more

Ordered take out few weeks back , two steak tip diners , med with rice , and what they delivered was absolutely embarrassing , two way over cooked diners with steak tips the size of your pinky fingernail , dried out rice and soggy garlic bread , just a complete embarrassment is all that comes to mind , if you want to pay lots of money for a steak tip diner , you best go to liberty bell down the other end of town , at least they give you real steak tips that taste great..... good luck with this place , I just permanently scrached it off my go to list......!!!!!! The most over-rated Buffalo Chicken Calzone ever. No cheese AT ALL, and the dough is way too thin to be a legit calzone. Incredibly disappointing. My first Petrone's experience came when I first moved to Melrose. the movers just left, my refrigerator is empty. What's a girl to do? I looked into my welcome package and there was a menu from Petrone's. Grabbed the cellie, ordered the usual (ham and hot pepper rings pizza- don't knock it if you never tried it). Side of fries. My order came and no lie when I say that I inhaled it! Now, with pizza it's all about the sauce. The sauce needs to be a delicate balance to the cheese and be able to withhold it's own against the topping. Oh how it did! At first, I thought, maybe it was just the hunger from the move that made me love it. So, with my refrigerator stocked and my stomach not so barren. I ordered a pizza a few weeks later. It was still delicious! I can't just stop raving about the pizza, you must try the chicken gyro. It's not no skimpy imitation. No, my friend, this is the real thing. I'm sad I have to give a low review because the pizza is actually pretty good. Very doughy and greasy and cheesy. The service is ridiculously bad. I let it go the first couple times and kept going back, but I won't be going back again. I think it's great that they employ young kids, but they should really train them to be polite. I ordered delivery from this place after purchasing a home in Melrose. I ordered a chicken kabob sub amongst other things. When it was delievered it was Steak Kabob instead. I called the shop and asked spoke to the owner and explained what had happened. He indicated that I could replace it but it would be about a 1/2 hour, or the next time I called he would "take care of me and give me a free order of buffalo wings". I chose the latter. About 3 weeks later I called to place an order and revisited our conversation about the mixed up order. I told him he said he would give me a free order of buffalo wings for the mistake. He got angry and replied rather rude, I never said that, I will give you $1 off your order and that's it. I said I'm positive on what you said and are you sure you don't want to reconsider, he said loudly NO! With that I said pay attention to my phone number, because you will never see it again on your caller id box..... NO THANK YOU..... read more

We've ordered pizza delivery from Petrone's at least half a dozen times in the last few months since moving to Melrose and every time, the quality is great! Friends and family visiting have commented on the same. I love the Capricciosa with artichoke and we're big fans of the Bianca Italiana. Delivery has always been timely and friendly. read more

This place was awesome back in the day. Ordered from there tonight. I should have eaten the can of soup on my kitchen. The girl on the phone was not very pleasant. I ordered a shish kebob dinner. Got mushrooms when i asked for none. Thankfully i am not allergic. The chicken is dry and chewy. The rice is flavorless and the greek dressing is not good. I guess i should leave the memories of good food back in high school when i used to eat here a bunch when i worked downtown. read more

Petrone's is the best place for pizza in Melrose! I know people who come from the surrounding towns to go there too. It is always bustling on a weekend evening, and is mostly a takeout place. The Petrone's Special and the Grecian Pizza are amazing! Their pizza always has fresh ingredients, is not too greasy, has generous portions and has a zing to its sauce! I haven't tried any of their other food but I have heard it's great too. If you're looking for a pizza place, Petrone's is the place. read more

Love their calzones. Eggplant parm is my favorite and also like buffalo chicken calzone. Generous size and delicious with extra sauce. For take out for a nice treat it is fast and easy. As a long time resident, I've seen lots of Deli & Pizza places open and close over the years. Petrone's on the other hand has been around for decades! I don't eat lots of takeout, but when I decide to grab a pizza, calzone etc., It's always this place. Leo is always a gentleman, and very hard working. The food is consistently good and fresh. My absolute favorite is his WORKS Pizza! It's so delish....there is nothing that comes close to it around Melrose. If you love pizza with every possible topping you've gotta try it! Whenever I walk in or call, the staff is rude and miserable. Half the time they don't even get the order right. The delivery drivers will sometimes pretend to not have change on them to inflate their tip. The pizza comes out sloppy, the dough is too thick, the chicken is rubbery. I once waited for my delivery for 90 minutes but the person taking the order forgot to put it in the system. No apology, he just asked if I still wanted it. That was the last straw, and I haven't gone back since. read more

Awful service! They have messed up our orders over the phone in the past, so we recently went in, placed the order physically and waited. Thinking there's no way this could be wrong we grabbed the order and headed home. Girls in the front were not even acknowledging customers due to their own conversations, called and the girl that answered confirmed it was the wrong pizza and said to come back and put the order in again. Live a good distance and had to drive back without any compensation for time or offer to deliver correct pizza. Went back to get the right pizza and other customers were complaining they too received incorrect orders or were waiting a long time. Given this place too many chances for an area with so many pizza places... done with this place. Only gave 2 stars because pizza is ok. Come spend your night being frustrated and disappointed. (Get this! Just got home to find out they gave me the wrong "works pizza" again. Artichokes, broccoli and egg plant all over) you guys are just awful at what you "do." Never again... read more

I've always loved this place but the past few times I've gotten delivery it's been awful. Eggplant parm on a pita is my favorite but if you don't get a large with extra sauce and extra cheese it's like 2 slices of eggplant with a slice of cheese and a drip of sauce. I got an italian sub on a pita bread once and it was like a piece of bologna and provolone with some pickles. It also wasn't in the pita bread it was on top of it and folded in half. I've called and complained and one time they told me I'd get a credit on my next delivery but I didn't. I just had a blt sub and a large fry delivered. The sub was swimming in mayo. I asked for the fries well done cause I like them crispy and they were so gross and soggy. I kept trying cause when it's good, it's the best around but I can't order food from somewhere hoping they might make it good this time. Well once again I threw $12 in the trash.
