Stay away from this company!!! I had a bad experience when they serviced my boiler (Turned a valve and said I had a leak, when I did not; told me I needed a burner, which I did not). I was under the impression my price was locked in. They delivered oil yesterday and charged me $5.71 per gallon!! My neighborhood paid under $4.00 yesterday. What corporate BS I was just told. Without notice plus I could have gone without a delivery, they should not have made this delivery without letting me know I would be paying twice as much for a gallon. Eight year Customer woke up to no heat in my house on a service contract for eight years. Just got an oil delivery every few weeks . There is a problem with the vaults every few months. I have two small kids. Nobody has a decency to call me back and I was told by a rep it's mother nature and the windows closed till this Wednesday so if God forbid one of my kids get sick it's on them. Make sure you keep note of who does good work- and try and ask for them every time. I have been a loyal customer for years. After a recent delivery, my husband was questioning why it was so much so he called a local company asking how much for 200 gallons. They gave us a quote of $2.90 cash or 3.09 credit. Petro charged me, their loyal customer for almost 2 decades, $5 a gallon. I paid $939 when i could have paid $590. When I called, they thought i was stupid and said Petro customers pay more because they let us ddo contracts..... you don't do that for everyone , the. It was because of their service contract (which is only less than $200...and what a stupid answer. THIEVES....I wish i looked sooner since i was paying $900 almost every 3-4 weeks. Petro has been reliable when it comes to delivering heating oil and propane. Unfortunately, their service department is a completely different story. After nearly ten years as a customer, I've learned that they are not certified by the manufacturers of the heat pumps, air conditioning units, or boilers they install and service. Unless you're technically knowledgeable, you would never realize the shortcuts being taken. Over the past four years, multiple technicians have attempted to fix a recurring issue--without success. I've spent over $2,400 replacing parts that were no longer under warranty on a unit Petro installed in February 2018. Some technicians have even refused to take responsibility, saying, "I didn't install those parts," and then leaving without resolving the problem. It's now been three days since I started trying to reach a service manager. I've left several messages, yet no one has returned my calls--only updated the service notes. Based on my experience, I strongly advise avoiding Petro for equipment installation, repairs, or ongoing service. Their delivery may be dependable, but their service is disappointing and unresponsive. read more

I called because my oil burner wasn't working. I am elderly with cardiac issues. I had surgery less than 1 week ago and I have a service plan. 8 days ago they replaced my oil tank. They did not deliver oil after replacing the tank and there was not much left in the tank. I think the line could be clogged. I am cold, and had surgery 5 days ago. They are refusing to do a series call until tomorrow and they don't deem it an emergency so they can't tell me when but "possibly between 10am-2pm. " I spoke to Tianna who said "her manager was too busy on another call and thus could not speak to me". If I could give them a less than 1 star rating, I would..." Tomorrow, I have to find another oil company to fix my problem because Petro refused to provide a current of more than 40 years, customer service even though she has a contract. I and my family have been loyal customers of Petro for many years. The service is top notch. All their techs are knowledgeable and experienced. Even the phone reps are great. My wife and I were away for a couple of days and when we came home, my furnace boiler was flooded. No heat or hot water. The basement was a mess. Our house was like an ice station. Technician came out that night and after diligent troubleshooting determined the boiler needed replacement. Murphys law at work. Adam the sales rep came first thing the next day and went over the several options available. Our old boiler was 40+ years old. The one we chose suited our budget. The following morning Tim the installer arrived with his assistant Jay. These guys did an incredible job of dismantling the old boiler and installing the new one! Once done Tim showed me how everything works, then they cleaned up and even took away the old furnace. BE WARNED - After repeated issues with Petro I finally decided to come here to warn people who are thinking about using them. The company says it uses some type of system to "track" the oil left in the tank but this is NEVER accurate. And if you ever run low they will not even try to help you get set up for emergency delivery. I called customer service when I realized we were running low and about a week before they had a scheduled delivery for me, they said they would schedule an emergency delivery the following day for me. Well no one showed up the following day so I called again and they said there was nothing on the schedule and that they would make sure to take care of it the next day. It took 4 DAYS to get an "emergency" delivery (sorry but that doesn't seem like it was an emergency to them). I have also had nothing but issues when it comes to their AutoPay system. I have had my bank account linked to their system for over a year now for my SmartPay budget and my last payment was deducted in April (with no problems) before the SmartPay budget was redone for the month of May. I received an email on Thursday June 6th, 2024 at 4:35pm stating that my AutoPay would be taken on June 11th. When no payment was taken by June 17th I went onto the website and my balance showed that I had a credit from the last years budget so I just assumed that I would not need to make a payment then since they didn't take it. It is now July 31st and magically now my account is showing that it is PAST DUE for missing the June payment THAT THEY DIDN'T TAKE FROM MY LINKED BANK ACCOUNT, even though the July payment went through automatically with no issue whatsoever. How is it my fault that their system decided to magically not charge my account after sending me an email that they payment would be taken. I am now responsible for making a double payment within 10 days of each other. I am a single person household so trying to attempt to keep within a budget in this garbage economy is apparently no care to Petro. I will now have to babysit my account even though it is on AUTOPAY since the system doesn't do its own job. read more

Terrible Customer Service. Charged for double payment. and never got a credit back. Called three times for last 2 weeks to resolve the issue, but never been resolved. Called again today and the credit department told me they will credit back and it will take 6 days. But never got confirmation email or number. I contacted Petro in November 2021 to have a propane line, tank and regulator installed for a range. They sent a proposal which I sent back with all needed paperwork, including the building permit, and a deposit. They gave me the run a round for a month until I got fed up and hired a plumbing contractor and different propane supplier to do the job which was done within days. (The longest part was 3 1/2 weeks lead time for the building inspector) I had terminated my Petro account in early Dec. (the 2nd I believe) and as of today, Feb. 2, 2022 they still have not returned my $266 deposit despite multiple calls. I went to Petro because their price per gallon was cheapest. Boy was that a mistake! I paid them for automatic refills and for a special device to let them know when the fuel was running low. I also had to put in another special bit of equipment when I first moved from my old gas company (which was several hundred dollars and which they did not tell me about in advance). Today my boiler stopped working, no warning. They had let my tank go completely empty. When I called them, they said they couldn't get a delivery to me until two days from now. The temps are in the 20's. In two days, my water pipes would freeze. I badly want to sue them for this, but won't throw my good energy to them. I found another company, Liberty Gas, who came and filled me up this afternoon. read more

(Selected 5PM) * Calls began almost immediately (cannot take calls during work) * Calls began again next day at work 2. I called during my lunch break * Took an hour to get through to a real person, had to dodge service plans I did not want. * Finally got an appointment for Friday. * Representative was unable to take my address correctly * Also received an email stating I have auto delivery and etc., which I was dodging from the beginning. * Address is missing information 3. On Saturday Petro delivers oil. * 22+ gallons was topped off, on a delivery I had from another company after I canceled Petro. Now paying for what I do not want!!! ***UPDATE**** My request to cancel the unwanted Account was followed up by a Petro representative, who contacted me. They requested the reason for the cancellation. I read off the above issues. I was told that this is certainly not the way Petro expects business to be done. But did mention the winter storm had played small issue in my complains, however did apologize for the stress and inconvenience these events has caused and did honor my cancellation request. A salesman came to our door and we already had a contract with them. Clueless would come up of course. Why are you selling an oil contract to someone who has a contract with you? Ok. Petro has the WORST customer service department. There supervisor's don't speak to customers and they don't call back. I had an issue yesterday and am still waiting for a call back. I called Petro at 9:30 in the morning because my boiler was leaking water and ruining my brand new rug. They told me someone would be there between 3-6. I said that was unacceptable and asked to speak to a supervisor. She never got on the phone with me but after holding for 45 minutes I was told someone would be at my house within the hour. At 1:30 I still had no one at my house and called again they said that there was a mistake and the technician never got my stop. They then said someone would be there shortly. I then waited until 3pm to finally get help. I asked to have someone call me and give me a credit for my inconvenience and still have heard nothing from them. I am extremely unhappy with my service. This company is a complete scam. I was referred to them by the previous home owner who used them and it has been nothing short of a disaster. I scheduled a delivery with the company and after receiving the delivery, noticed that their cost was much higher than any other local company was charging. After calling numerous times without resolve or answer, I received a call back stating that I signed a contract and that if I wanted to terminate the contract would be 399.00. I asked them where and when I signed this supposed contract, and they couldn't give me an answer either. I further inquired into pricing and was told it's ceiling pricing and that there was a conflict in Afghanistan and that is why the price has increased. The answer was so bizarre I had to laugh it off. While I was looking at active cost of oil, which was $53.00 a barrel, the representative told me that it was currently 70 dollars. I spoke with a customer service representative Jane today who constantly interrupted me during our conversation and then told me that she was going to "get someone else to talk to me." I was asking very simple questions, she was not even listening to me at all to be able to answer my questions. I understand that I'm sure it's been busy and let's be honest customer service is a thankless job, but that is just unacceptable. I will definitely be taking our business elsewhere. After posting the review below, I was contacted by a Petro representative who rescheduled my appointment to early February. She took the time to explain the scheduling process and also informed me of the optimum time of year to schedule a heating system checkup. That was not explained when I first got the service agreement. She also said that they would investigate why things did not go as well as they should have. I appreciate the follow up call and the customer service, so I am changing my rating. Original Review: "I have a service agreement with Petro and called in October for my yearly check of my heating system. They said the earliest I could get was Dec 2nd, two months after my call. So I said "Okay", at least I'd have it checked out before winter started. They called yesterday, Dec 1st and said they'd have to postpone because of the possible bad weather. I'd have to wait until April. April??!!. I have to wait 4 months for one of their guys to be available. So I called in October and they are now scheduling my check up 6 months later. I am sad to give them such a bad rating because their service department is amazing!!!! Customer service ladies were sincere of Petro's policies and actions weren't criminal I would have stayed. Signed up in 2017 with their infamous ceiling plan and was charged the high price off the bat, never saw a drop so I called and talked to a rep put me on installments for a year. Less then 3 months get a bill for $850 that my installment plan is over???? I called furious after paying it all up our contract is to expire in July, so I shopped around found much better prices but cause Petro service I thought about them and a second chance. Over the weekend spoke to many people warning me to cancel so Monday afternoon I called to see if they had a fixed price they said no so I requested to cancel prior to my renewal starting in July more then 20 days and no documents sent. Giving Petro 3 stars but giving Vinny 5! Vinny came back 2 times and fixed my pool heater pump that was leaking profusely. The first guy did a quick fix that did not work. Vinny came and got the job done right. Although he had to come back a second time he wouldn't leave till it was done with no leaks at all. He is a hard worker that will never leave till the job is done. He never charged me for the call back! He is great! read more

I have been with them for 3 years and they basically never cleaned my boiler. until one day they could not fix the boiler and asked me to get a new one. even though there is nothing wrong with the boiler.
