Full story: I was considering to own a pup here, GLAD I DIDN'T because they're pushy and extremely nice just to sell you a dog. I see now Management doesn't care after that! I came back here because they sell the Brand Nutrisource that I was all out of for my new puppy, the brand is sold in limited places. I buy it and served it only to notice one of the crumbs was moving and it was a BABY ROACH ! My husband checks the bag and there's a small beetle inside it. That was enough for me, I have a PHOBIA with bugs in my home, especially baby roaches, so I quickly TRIPLE bag it and simply think to put it by the door to return tomorrow. When I get there, I tell them what happened but I add for assurance that "it's ok, I'm sure it's on the manufacturing of the brand than the store." They tell me they can't accept it if it's open. Idk how it can make SENSE for me to find out their inventory has roaches in their food if I didn't open it. They told me that can't happen. But I show them my receipt, I HAD JUST bought it within 24 hours and I open all the bags and show them how full it is. It's new just open. When she was going back to ask the manager, I had to ask her to take my receipt to show them. If anything I'M looking out telling THEM there's roaches in that inventory so they can handle it with precaution with their vendor. To my surprise, THEY DIDN'T CARE!? It blows my mind how a few days back I had a manager trying to convince us on a puppy and the sales associate telling us to "see if we qualify" because their prices are much higher than others with all that they try to sell you but we wanted to pay in cash and didn't find the dog we wanted. But this time when I had a simple issue, the manager didn't even care to come out to talk to me or check the bag. I cannot imagine how disconcerting it would be to have invested so much and turned away over having simple issues with their food. When I spoke to them, instead of taking any responsibility, they tried to blame me, saying ridiculous things like "oh, you must have taken him on the street." They'll say anything to cover up their own neglect. I even have a friend who worked there who confirmed that the managers knowingly sold a very ill puppy because they "didn't care" and just wanted the sale. That says everything you need to know about what kind of people run that place. Petland is a greedy, heartless company that treats their animals like products, not living beings. DO NOT trust this place. They treat the animals horribly and any animal older than 3 months is going to have trauma and fear for the rest of his/her life. I know, I got a 7 month old German Shepherd from there that I had to give to a shelter because he refused to listen to any commands because he's spoiled. They never trained him, never took him on walks, or fed him properly. He had liquid fecal matter for days because they fed him nothing but cheap soft treats. He doesn't know how to walk properly and gets tired and scared VERY easily. I had to sit there with him at the park calling him into the car until someone came and called animal rescue because I told them I'm a absolutely done with him. I've had many dogs and I've never seen one this bad. I'm tired of carrying him everywhere like a baby. He's almost mature. Most dogs are ready to breed at 6 months, he's not. I talked to multiple trainers who all agreed he's special needs. It's their fault he's like this. I even called and tried to explain but the LADY (same lady who admitted to giving him only "treats") at the shelter refused to listen or even offer a refund. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I previously purchased a dog in 2019 with them and everything with perfect and smooth sailings. Under new ownership it's a different story. Less than 48 hours ago, I purchased a female Dalmatian. Unfortunately my apartment complex is not allowing her due to a neighbors complaint of breed and previous history with the breed. The dog listens to no commands and only responds to eating treats. Not even her own food will she eat and it sits there. I walk into the store and explain my situation thinking I'm going to be met with compassion and understanding, little did I know, when the worker called his "higher up" it was a phone call lasting no more than 30 seconds, The owners, obviously money hungry and just wanting to get rich quick and not care about the customer, wouldn't even allow an exchange of pets, even after I took her to the vet and they told me she was behind on her vaccinations when they should be vaccinating her properly for her health. This place absolutely disgusts me and it is also my fault for falling into their trap again. You would think after spending almost 6k you would be met with some compromise especially since it is in a 48 hour window. Most Petland locations accept exchanges within this window, clearly this one doesn't because they couldn't care less about their customers and puppies as well. Me and my husband weren't planning on getting a puppy this day. We both got cleanings at the dentist next door and walked in to this Petland. One thing I have to note is that the employees are always willing to help and let you play with any puppy you set your eyes on. A CURSE AND A BLESSING! Because not even 10 minutes in playing with this little black chow chow, did I fall in love. We had to take him home and Yuliana was a great help with that. She wasn't too pushy like most employees at pet stores and she assured us answers with any question we had. Juan and Diego helped us get out puppy today. It all started in the morning as soon as they opened. I called to check availability and they got us in to see her immediately. We went it and they helped us meet her, making the process easier for us to fall in love with the her. We said yes and throughout the whole financing process, helping us learn about the care and needs of the puppy, everything went by smoothly and easily. My review is based on my experience visiting the store and seeing the puppies. I did not purchase anything. My friend and I visited the store while waiting for OneBlood to open. I had never been to a Petland before, so this was my first time. The puppies are placed in clean spaces with glass for people to look in. Photos aren't allowed and there are signs everywhere with a line slashing through a camera icon. An employee came right up to us asking if we needed help and offered to show us the puppy that we liked. We said we were just browsing for now. There were variety of puppies--chihuahuas, golden retrievers, boxers, german shepherds, shih tzu's, rottweilers, schnauzer, a shiba inu mixed with another breed, pugs, and more. Another employee came up to us and told us about the puppies, benefits of getting puppies from Petland, lifetime guarantees, unlimited vet visits, pet training classes, etc. It seemed too good to be true. We were eyeing the puppy mixed with shiba inu and something else, so the employee offered to let us play with it. He instructed us to wait at a puppy pen area, then came back with the puppy. It was so playful and cute. I kind of fell in love and kept playing with it and petting it. Then the employee asked us if we wanted to see the pug because we were looking at him earlier too. So he came back with the pug called Bean. He seemed confused, I think because he had just woken up, and then bounced around with so much energy. He was really cute and adorable. Before leaving, I asked the employee if they have any brochures or information that I can look at later and he handed me a piece of handout with his name on it to keep. He was very helpful and nice, full of resources. However, I am only researching for now and looking around with no intention to buy. I heard and read about the high prices of puppies at all Petland locations, and cannot afford that. The benefits seem too good to be true but I also read a lot of reviews online about people's experiences at Petland, so I feel iffy about this place now. They don't care for the puppies and they certainly don't care for their customers. We purchased our puppy in December 2021 and within 10 hours of paying an enormous amount of money (because we wanted a healthy pet, one that was raised with love, and cared for, and brought a guarantee) we were at the vet. The puppy was SO sick, and it was so contagious, I went to the store immediately after and told them to look into the other puppy that shared a space w ours. I also inquired about the over $1,000 vet bill I had to pay and was told to submit it to their insurance and it would be paid. That was 4 months ago. I've gone to the store several times and the manager is never there and has never attempted to call me back. The worst service. They would not provide information on the phone. We went anyways. Waited an hour for the sales person despite having an " appointment ". We were so excited as the dog was perfect! The quote was $7200 ! This is insane! It says average price for that breed online is $1500-2500. How in the world did they get to $7200! That is just exorbitant! I was so upset they made us go through that experience and have my kids heart broken. I never expected triple what the average is. Literally can't believe the treatment I got from this place. Went there on a Sunday two hours before they were scheduled to close and I can't even get in. The doors are locked. And standing in front of them is a group of every employee, sitting around chilling and chatting. I try to open the door and they just stare. Do your homework, you will find a great pet for a lot less. We were looking for a miniature labradoodle and end up going to this Petland as they promote of having many pets on site, which they do. After looking around we spoke with one of the associates and advised her what we were looking for and she pointed out a miniature goldendoodle which is close to the breed we were looking for. (This is after we did a lot of research on the internet with qualified well reputed breeders). The dog was very energetic and very cute and I have to admit that I was falling in love with the dog, we had a great chemistry. After spending 20 minutes with the dog and others it was time to ask how much they wanted for the dog. The associate brought a tablet depicting all of the benefits provided by PetLand and also with a lot of pictures of vets and training and blah blah blah. After the small presentation she advised me the dog was 5, and waited a few seconds and then said 5,000. I was like my ears were not good. After doing many months of research we figure the average of a good mini labradoodle is from 1200-2500, 2500 being the top rarest colors. The associate told us, we can work on the price and we can finance 100%, so she is going to discount around 3500? The problem I see is that you are looking for a companion and at those prices and this economy I can't see too many people spending all that money in a pet. Then the dogs gets older and then they start lowering the prices to get rid of them when they can be already in a home being trained by the new family. Even if you travel out of state to get a dog from a reputable breeder, you still are going to save a lot of money. No wonder when I called last week inquiring about a dog in another Petland and ask the price they told me that they do not give prices over the phone, no wonder. Petland Kendall showed up on my instagram as an ad and I saw that they had a certain type of dog that I really wanted. I decided to visit the location after a friend of mine told me that she recently bought a dog there. She told me that at the location customers could interact with the puppies. She raved that their customer service was above and beyond, and that she definitely recommends me checking the place out. I decided to go with the same friend who purchased a dog from here after our nursing clinical. When we walked into Petland on a slow afternoon, nobody greeted us. I had to chase down an associate to get their attention. After telling the associate that I was interested in interacting with a dog, I was asked for my ID because apparently there was an age policy (21 +). I left my ID in my car, and after returning to the store, the associate didn't even look at it! He instructed us to wait at a puppy pen area, then came back with the puppy I was interested in. The puppy was super adorable and cute, but not quite what I was expecting or hoping for. I asked the employee if I could see a different puppy, but he told me that it was only "1 play per visit." How can I decide on purchasing a pet if I am only allowed to interact with 1 puppy at a time? My friend asked him when the policy was changed because when she visited in January with her bf, they played with multiple puppies before settling on one. The employee then proceeds to tell us that this was a new policy that was implemented a week ago?!?! I'm pretty sure the employee lied directly to our faces, because I approached one of the visiting customers that I saw playing with multiple puppies in 1 visit and asked if the associate mentioned the same policy to them and they shook their head and said no. They also told me that they had ZERO intentions of purchasing because the prices were outrageous and way over priced! She told me that a french bulldog was $9000!!! My friend and I then noticed a couple came into the store, they were immediately greeted by an associate and were provided with unlimited attention. My friend was super upset, because this was completely different from when her and her bf were treated when they visited the store. Maybe it was the way we were dressed or could be that we didn't come with our S.O. but this is no way to treat a customer and I am super disappointed in the way Petland Kendall employees approached and interact their customers.
