Missing nail because it was fractured. Vets had to remove it.

I NEVER LEAVE A BAD REVIEW BUT THIS NEEDED TO BE SAID. They fractured my pet rabbit's nail. I took my rabbit Zeus to PetLand Hoffman Estates on Sunday, August 13 for a regular nail trim and they completely broke my rabbits nail. I understand accidents happen but THIS could've been easily avoided. Zeus is offered free nail clippings because I originally got him from there. I took him in and as they started cutting, my rabbit moved. This caused his nail to immediately start bleeding. However, they continued to cut the nails of his other paw. They didn't tell me the severity of it until they dropped him the SECOND time. As Zeus hit the floor, I immediately saw that and told them to just wait until I calm him down. I notice his nail is COMPLETELY broken and hanging to the side. I confronted them and they had the audacity to say that it was like that before??? So please explain to me this... If you notice his nail is like that PRIOR to the nail cut, why would you fail to mention that. So they continue to cut his nail knowing that it's completely broken. How dare you blame me when it's clearly your fault. No sense of taking some responsibility for your actions. Instead the staff member simply said "I'm sorry, should've told you that before I started". If they owned up to it, I maybe would've been more understanding, considering I know that bunnies can move around constantly. But NOPE. They tried to make it seem like his nail was already like that when I brought him in. My bunny ended up having a fractured nail and it costed me a $300 vet bill, along with giving him medicine to stop any infection. Super untrained staff. These are people's babies and you chose to hire the most unfit people. On top of that, clearly they don't care about their small animals since children and different people are CONSTANTLY picking them up and stressing them out. I never leave a bad review but AGAIN, I don't play around when it comes to my pet.

2 stars for now. Health: 1 star getting into our 3rd week now and she has constant diarrhea. And we had to treat phenemonia. So far vet bills are 1K in 2 Weeks. Tomorrow we got our 3rd appointment and we have a whole new round of issues to discuss with the vet ‍I suspect that she may be from a puppy mill which if she doesn't get better I will look into more. Pet stores are legally not allowed to buy from puppy mills in the state of Illinois. Price: 2 Stars I understand that a young pure breed will be expensive all set and done I paid 5 K for and 8 week old husky, however the breeder only has 2 stars and I have difficulties finding his kennel. (Location exists but there is nothing on the documented location. If I find out she came from a puppy mill I intend to sue. Again it's illegal to sell puppy mill puppies in the state of Illinois) Dog: 5 stars the dog herself is phenomenal she is very active and doesn't act sick which tells me she's at least not in life threading condition or herself being impacted by the light phnemonia she had (symptoms have now diminished). She's smart and training has gone extremely well. I love her a lot and my love to this puppy is the only thing that will cause me not to rate it a 1 out of 5. Overall I do NOT recommend. Realistically it's simply not worth it. My dog was at Petland for about 3-4 days before I bought her and she's still sick. Imagine some Of these dogs that have been living with the sickness for weeks or even months. (I doubt Petland take them to a real vet when they are sick)

Very nice place. Many pets to see. Their aquarium room is HUGE. Very unique fish and creatures there. A lot of variety too. There are puppies, kittens, rabbits, birds, etc. for sale. Great place

Dead snail I just bought today

I'm tired of this pet land, horrible customer service and the cashiers/fish baggers put down wrong prices. I got 5 assassin snails to fix a snail problem I have in a planted tank and not only did the worker give me two dead snails, they rang it up for the wrong price, wrote them up at $9.74 each when they were suppose to be 2.99$ each..absolutely horrible

I thought after they weren't able to have cats and dogs it would be a lot better for the smaller animals and birds that they still have in store. Absolutely disgusted by this poor sick cockatiel! Poor baby is clearly sick and uncomfortable, has poop around his mouth and all over his underside. The staff doesn't even look concerned at all! I hope this little baby has a chance at life, it was the sweetest little thing.

This place is fun to play with puppies but they're ridiculously over priced. I would never buy from here. They were charging an adoption fee of $2800 for a dog that I was looking at. REAL adoption fees are more about $200-500.

This is not okay, my friend did not have to go through this and for an ex worker to message her personally how horrible it is. This is not okay.

Feces and urine collecting under the metal rack, in addition to the feces on the blue plastic which had been trampled by the dog....

Everything went fine until a emo worker accused us of stealing and gave us dirty looks, had the worst attitude.

Edited to add: I did "the research" and all I could find were issues with their flea and tick…read moremedication, which is not what I was purchasing or what I feed my cat (there are a few choice emojis I'd love to use here if Yelp allowed). Sure, there are sporadic complaints, but you get that with any product. Sure, it may not be chock full of healthy ingredients, but very few cat treats are. As I figured, she put unfounded seeds of fear and anxiety into me for absolutely no reason that I can find, other than a few random Reddit posts and the flea and tick thing. Maybe she has a personal issue with Hartz products? If that's the case, perhaps she shouldn't be employed by someone who sells them. For the love of God, how many pet stores do you know that have cashiers telling you that the products you purchase are going to kill your pet? Especially AFTER they've rung them all up? Someone needs some new training. Original review: After ringing up my order that included 12 items made by Hartz, the cashier informs me in the most infuriatingly casual tone that it contains ingredients that have been found to caused cancer in cats. So I asked her if I should not be buying the stuff and she was said in the same annoying tone that I should look it up. So now I'm like well now that you've planted the seed in my head that I am knowingly killing my cat by buying this stuff, I would like to return it, but there is a line of five people behind me and no other checkout open. So yeah, don't buy Hartz/Delectables I guess according to this cashier, who had the worst personality ever by the way, she seemed annoyed that I had the nerve to get in line and interrupt her discussion of gravel with a woman in front of me. And frankly, if there is an ounce of truth to her warning (because I haven't gotten to look it up yet) maybe you shouldn't be selling this company's products or maybe you should tell your cashiers to warn people BEFORE they ring up the product. I'll be sticking to the Mount Prospect location from here on out.

They have the dog food brand we need and a wide assortment of treats and fun toys for our doggos. We have never used the grooming or vet services here but they always seem pretty busy. Definitely opt in for the rewards. They do come in handy and it's nice to save $5 here and there.
