Edited to add: I did "the research" and all I could find were issues with their flea and tick medication, which is not what I was purchasing or what I feed my cat (there are a few choice emojis I'd love to use here if Yelp allowed). Sure, there are sporadic complaints, but you get that with any product. Sure, it may not be chock full of healthy ingredients, but very few cat treats are. As I figured, she put unfounded seeds of fear and anxiety into me for absolutely no reason that I can find, other than a few random Reddit posts and the flea and tick thing. Maybe she has a personal issue with Hartz products? If that's the case, perhaps she shouldn't be employed by someone who sells them. For the love of God, how many pet stores do you know that have cashiers telling you that the products you purchase are going to kill your pet? Especially AFTER they've rung them all up? Someone needs some new training. Original review: After ringing up my order that included 12 items made by Hartz, the cashier informs me in the most infuriatingly casual tone that it contains ingredients that have been found to caused cancer in cats. So I asked her if I should not be buying the stuff and she was said in the same annoying tone that I should look it up. So now I'm like well now that you've planted the seed in my head that I am knowingly killing my cat by buying this stuff, I would like to return it, but there is a line of five people behind me and no other checkout open. So yeah, don't buy Hartz/Delectables I guess according to this cashier, who had the worst personality ever by the way, she seemed annoyed that I had the nerve to get in line and interrupt her discussion of gravel with a woman in front of me. And frankly, if there is an ounce of truth to her warning (because I haven't gotten to look it up yet) maybe you shouldn't be selling this company's products or maybe you should tell your cashiers to warn people BEFORE they ring up the product. The employees at this store location are typically very friendly and helpful. We try to go on weeknights to avoid large weekend crowds, especially on Saturdays. They have the dog food brand we need and a wide assortment of treats and fun toys for our doggos. We have never used the grooming or vet services here but they always seem pretty busy. Definitely opt in for the rewards. They do come in handy and it's nice to save $5 here and there. read more

We moved from California 5months ago and it was very hard to get an appointment from other groomers in this area because they are not accepting new clients... It was very easy to make an appointment online at PetSmart.com. I chose first available groomer and Micayla was fantastic. She was nice and thorough about what's expected to get done. I felt comfortable leaving our Puppy with her. They gave me the evaluation card that tells how my dog did during the visit and I liked the service. Very disappointed with my grooming appointment today. My dog was nicked and the groomer, Amanda, failed to report that to me. Once I called them back to ask what happened, she claimed that it was a pimple and said with a laugh that she forgot to mention this to the gentleman who picked my dog up. For all the money that I paid, plus the tip, it's not worth my dog getting an infection. My dog is 4 and before this salon, I haven't encountered any issues, this level of unprofessionalism and poorly trained staff. This is your "experienced groomer." Won't be returning. read more

I come to this PetSmart all the time! It's not the biggest, nor the bestest but gosh darnit it's close to my work and an easy lunch hour stop. They usually have what I need, offer decent prices, have some good coupons (though they don't always honor their own store coupons) and generally friendly employees. I honestly only ever come here when I have coupons because though their prices are decent, they aren't amazing. I always get sad coming here though because I can't handle all the animals for sale. I have always taken my German Shepherd to Pet Smart in Schaumburg for her baths. When she is shedding, I pay $30 extra for Furminating (special brushing). I took her in for the bath with furminator about a year ago. When I picked her up, the manager lectured me on bathing her more frequently or they would have to charge more if her undercoat was too thick. They flagged her record after that which means I cannot schedule online anymore. It also means that they can charge me extra if her coat is too thick. I just tried to schedule another regular bath and they mentioned she hadn't been there for 10 months (I had taken her elsewhere) and was very rudely told her coat would be evaluated when she arrived and so the price could change. I have never seen this policy on the website or in the salon. I'll gladly pay more elsewhere, if I get treated like a valued customer. read more

I agree with the other posts about the grooming services being a problem. I think it is the workers. Have been taking my dog there for nail trims and during our last visit they said he was thrashing and not behaving (when every other time I've taken him he is well behaved and kissing the worker). I believe they messed up somehow by leaving him up on the table and he jumped off and hung him self! Of course the workers were being cryptic and weird and not explaining why they couldn't finish the nail trim. My dogs eyes are bloodshot and he is acting scared which he never does. The pet grooming service at the Petsmart in Schaumburg is a problem. I stopped going there although it is closer to my home and would go to the Petsmart in Mt. Prospect. But the one time I gave in and took my dog to the one in schaumburg they reported him as not liking the crate and put him down as needing a express service (extra money). Now he has NEVER had this problem at the one in Mt. Prospect. I will never patronize the one in Schaumburg again. AND his paw was cut and she said he obtained that by clawing at the crate although she did a trim on his nails. Dnn't trust this place. read more

horrible. My dog has come to this vet for check ups on time every 6 months, everything is perfect every time. Found out 3 months after her last check up at a different vet, she has had diabetes that has been ongoing for a long time. If we didn't go to a different vet she would've died. And now, she has to be given insulin 2x a day for the rest of her life due to this establishments terrible medical services. Terrible service, absolutely terrible. Find one groomer you like here, be VERY clear as to what you want, and then stick with that groomer. Avoid busy times. Took my long-haired Border Collie here for a regular bath and brush many times--the last time I did it was with a new groomer who was visibly rushed and rattled as I checked my dog in. Guessing she did not read my special directions specifying NO FURMINATOR--this de-shedding tool cuts and rips a collie's top coat while removing the undercoat, making it short and frizzy. The long, wavy topcoat can take up to 4 years to grow back in, if it does at all. Furious. We are done here. Staff should be trained as to the needs for different breeds' coats. read more

Did not offer further help and proceeded to laugh about bad about me and my family with her coworker. Luckily one of the cashiers was nice enough to take her time answer the questions I had. It's a chain pet store that somehow manages to have prices higher on literally every.single.product I've ever been interested in purchasing than the indie pet shop just up Golf Road. Mind boggling how much this place charges when between the Target down Meacham and the Bentley's Corner Barkery up Golf, you can find everything you need/want for Fido and Whiskers at half the cost of those same items at PetSmart. The same brand and quantity of cat litter and food here is less than half the price at Target. How is there that much of discrepancy on something should be pretty run-of-the-mill at a dedicated pet store. I thought chains existed so they could drive down prices, and in most cases, the quality as well. This PetSmart absolutely nails it on the low-quality end, but still manages to struggle with affordability and seeing far enough into the future and (literally) down the road to realize that they're running themselves out of town. Another puzzler here are their awkward sales. For instance, May was reptile appreciation month. 50% off pythons. No joke. Would it kill you to put some freaking cat litter on sale? read more

It's petsmart, not much to say really. I buy my pet foods here and some other pet items from time to time. There are usually staff members around if any help is needed. Their live pets for sale have looked in good condition and care on my visits. There is also a Banfield pet hospital and a grooming center in the back. Oh, they offer pet training classes too. I had scheduled an appointment for my Yorkie with Ashley. When I made the appointment they told me I would be charged a $10.00 handling fee because my dog needs help standing. I very surprised and confused. I have never been told this once. My dog has no problems standing. The person taking the appointment said never mind, my dog would be. I went to check my dog in early for her appointment and I saw a "$10.00" handling fee added to the potential bill. I understand that this was not the bill, however, where is this coming from? My dog is not old. She enjoys standing by the front door for hours barking at squirrels and anything that blows by. I am greatly disappointed. read more

I had a Kong Collar I ask to be replaced because it was defective. The check out person said they only guarantee them for 30 days did I have my receipt. I reminded her that Kong Guarantee their products for one year. Just take it back to PetSmart without a receipt for replacement. PetSmart veterinary care is expensive I'm sure they have knowledgable Veterinarian's and all but wow they make so much money on some medical care plans for your pets. We only went to them for a short time when we had two dogs. My husband and kids like to go there to see the fish, but the fish in the tanks look crowded and sad to me. I see dead fish in their tanks all the time. I don't find enough people who work at the store to know enough about aquariums. All in all it's a fun place to shop but not a smart place to shop. You can get your dogs tags there cheap but that's about it. read more

I want to express how taken back and appalled I am with the grooming salon at petsmart in Schaumburg.. Mind you we have been going there with our dog for the past 6.5 years and have never had an issue until tonight. We went in for a routine nail trim and Sharon the grooming manager was scheduled to do the app. She first told me that 2 people would have to handle my dog since he has to be muzzled. (YES our dog needs to be muzzled because he has pass trama at the vet and nail salon. He is a nervous nelly but is harmless and loves all people and animals) I told her yes of course what ever made her feel most comfortable. She gave my dog a treat in front of me then asked me to step out so she could assess him. Within seconds she waved me back in and flat out said "I can't take your dog he tried to bite me. He's too aggressive". I said in return "I have never had an issue in the past and I also have never witnessed 2 people handling my dog for a nail trim. If your struggling and or feel uncomfortable to get the muzzle on him I can do it for you". She responds back loud and very defensive " I've been doing this for 10 years I know what I'm doing you don't need to tell me how to handle an animal. After that she asked me to leave or she would call security.. I literally laughed in disbelief and found the store manager.. Needless to say Sharon has several complaints from employees as well as customers.. It is sad that we will no longer be giving petsmart grooming in Schaumburg our business. I will absolutely not tolerate being mistreated like I was tonight and neither should anyone else or their beloved fur babies. I did my research tonight and looked up their grooming reviews on a couple different platforms... looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. If pet-smart was SMART they would cut there ties with this "manager". read more

Worst grooming experience of my life. I have been taking my dog, Shaggy, to a different PetSmart location for all 8 years of his life and they love him there; every time I pick him up, he's a happy boy. It had been a while since we had given him a bath or haircut, and our original grooming place was booked for a few weeks out, so we decided to try this PetSmart. As soon as I walked in, the customer service was terrible. Jessica - the worst groomer I have ever come across - was to take care of Shaggy. I could tell she was in a bad mood and I honestly feared leaving shaggy with her, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt -- worst decision ever. When my father picked Shaggy up, he was SHAKING and BLEEDING. He continued to bleed from his butt and paw in the car. Shaggy has sensitive skin and I had expressed my concerns about this and asked Jessica to be very careful. He's the sweetest gentle giant and would never hurt a fly. I have no doubt in my mind that they hurt him in there - perhaps even intentionally because he "gets very defensive for his feet and the drier." To top it all off, she charged us extra for his matted hair! Shaggy was up all night inconsolably CRYING in his bed. We had to carry him to my bed so that he would calm down and get some rest. It has been two days now and he is still not himself -- he seems traumatized. He randomly whimpers.. doesn't shake his tail as much anymore. Whatever you do.. DO NOT take your pet to this grooming salon. read more

Overall, PetSmart is a pretty good place. It feels open an inviting when you walk in. There's plenty of room in the aisles, and good selection of products. I don't use PetSmart for everything though. I go to the smaller boutique pet shops for food and treats. PetSmart probably isn't the cheapest either. The same products are most likely cheaper at Petco and other places. If you can't find it somewhere else, try PetSmart. read more

A year ago I bought a leopard gecko and the sales person told me they only have female ones. I already had a female and I know I could add a female to the tank. Well surprise the baby lizard grew up to be a male. Now I had to get Two tanks because if there mistake. Freaking awesome. Great selection of products from crates and leashes to outfits and food. The PetSmart card gets you the best price (just like at the grocery store), and the sale sections are amazing for bargain hunting. I grabbed a few giant rawhides and bones for my dog after Christmas, and the price was only $5 for a 12-14" bone! I even volunteered here once upon a time with the AHF cats up for adoption. :-) There is a brilliant trainer here as well named Bill. I admit, I'm completely guilty of falling to the belief that pet store trainers are crap. Bill is superb! He uses some unconventional methods that at first I was laughing inside at, but they actually work. Really a top notch dude who knows his stuff and gets results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. I take my dog here for grooming, he's a chi/terrier mix. When I get him back he seems excited to see me and relatively okay for someone who can't speak.. but wow, the girls who work there are sooo terrible. They are rude, annoying, "bored" all the time and just unpleasant to work with. Last time I was there, there was a guy who was really nice, but they gave him a TON of grief, embarrassed him in front of customers. He was nice though, the only one. I checked their website to make sure they would be opened at 7:00 AM on Christmas Eve to get my dogs nails trimmed and ground, I have to wait until Tuesdays to get the Senior Discount. I went in and sat on the bench out side of the Grooming Salon, since it was dark and appeared no one was there yet at 7:00 AM, I waited for 20 minutes, even thought I had told a female employee why I was there when I walked in. After waiting a dirty looking "dude" with long stringing hair came up to me and said of they don't take "walk in's" until 9:00 AM. What a crock! No where does it state that on their website!! I will NEVER go back there again. I then called PetCo on my break at work, and they assured me they would be there until 5:00 for a clipping and grinding that was $5.00 less than PetsSmart. We have taken our dog to be groomed at this pet smart for 3 years now and with each passing time the experience has worsened. We always make advanced appointments and this time on 9/12/15 was no different. We made an appt for our dog Libby 2 weeks in advance for 10:30. I understand the process takes time, usually 2-3 hours. So I come in at 2, assuming she would be done. And they hadn't even started. So what they basically were telling me is that I made an appointment so that my dog could sit in a tiny cage with no one doing anything for over 3 hours. At that point they are like "oh crap" we better start doing something. So they rush through it and it looks bad. There used to be a more experienced team here, but now it is a bunch of 20 year olds with no understanding of customer service. There is clearly a lack of leadership, organization order and structure. If you value your pet as a part of your family, like we do...then you will NOT take your pet to be groomed here. read more

You can literally that they really love all the pets they have at their shop. Their place is so big, clean, well-organized, and nice place for pets. This PetSmart is the best pet store and grooming place in the whole city. The location of this shop is so easy to find, so near to other well-known places around the city, and you can navigate their location just by asking some people on your way. Everyone that works here are very knowledgeable, they all know how to treat their customers so well, and the pets too. They also have big selection of pet supplies and accessories. They also launching some events throughout the year. You can find anything you need here for your pets such as foods, supplies, toys, accessories, medicines, and others. 5-star for this PetSmart because their place is super clean, nice, and decent. Also for their employees that is so friendly and caring to all the pets. And for their management that is very up front, informative, and professional. I have been taking my dog to this location for years & after years of great service.. Roscoe refuses to go anywhere else when it comes to his grooming needs. He knows exactly what is happening and he loves all the staff there! They have known him for his entire life & they always greet us with warm smiles & Roscoe loves it. Went in here on 1-19-19 for fish. I was shocked at how many of the fish were dead. Yes, sometimes there will be a dead fish here and there- but this was SHOCKING! There were tanks in which ALL of the fish in the tank were dead! The tanks also didn't look the cleanest. I decided pretty quickly I was not risking buying any fish from there. On my way out as a courtesy I let the young, male cashier know there were a lot of dead fish in their tanks. He looked at me blankly and mumbled "okay..." That was it. No concern, no "oh no, thanks for letting me know! We'll take care of it as soon as possible." Clearly he didn't care in the least. These ppl are not properly caring for their fish and it makes me wonder if they are properly caring for any other creatures they are selling. Consumers beware. I wouldn't trust this place. read more

I took my new rescue pug here to get his nails dremmeled, they did a great job! I had just been to the vet and paid $24 to have the vet tech barely take anything off of his nails - perhaps a millimeter. I have another dog at home whose nails I dremmel myself, but since we just adopted this new dog, I didn't want to terrify him by attempting to dremmel his nails myself. I told the girl at Petsmart about his background (being a rescue, not sure of past abuse, and that he was terrified noises). She was great with him - cut his nails first, then was able to Dremmel them without him totally flipping out. I walked around and shopped while she did his nails (at other stores they usually ask me to hold my dog). She even gave me a coupon for $10 off, so the whole thing cost around $6! Compared to other petstores (and even the vet) they do a great job and are reasonably priced. I'm definitely taking him back! read more
