Our dog adores Thunder and goes to hang out with him and the other dogs at least once a week. Our dog has calmed and is very excited to go each week. They took my rambunctious out of control rescue pup Violet and helped turn her into a well behaved lovable dog! The training was positive and violet responded rather quickly. We adopted a dog through a rescue, and enrolled in your basic petco training. After a few weeks, trying to work through the dogs playful nipping was clearly not working (even getting worse). Since this dog was not a puppy, we had the basics down (SIT and STAY). Also, we were experiencing some behavior problems that were not addressed in Petco training and we couldnt figure out how to resolve (Jumping up on people, defensive biting when you grab the collar, or playing REALLY rough). After spending a few weeks studying up on youtube training videos and getting no where in our Petco training classes... We decided to schedule an appointment with Thunder. It was only our first assessment last night, but I already feel like I have learned A TON! We have some homework to work on, but I am feeling much more confident that we will get through this. We really enjoyed working with Thunder. We love our 18-month old standard goldendoodle, but she's very active and still learning how to interact with our 4-month old son. Thunder shared some very simple but effective techniques over a few sessions to manage her behavior in a practical and caring way. His presence and tone had an immediate calming effect on our dog, and he taught us how interact with her in a more appropriate manner. Issues include pulling on walks, jumping on guests, not responding to commands, etc. She's already doing much better. We could not be happier with our pup's 'vacay' with Thunder and Travis! We have a 3 year old Belgian Malinois, and this was the longest period of time she was away from us -- 9 days/nights. Truthfully, we were a bit anxious about how she would handle it (ok, ok...also a bit anxious about how we would handle it!). During our very first meeting both Travis and Thunder helped ease any concerns we had...no, our pup wouldn't be crated for extended periods of time; yes, our pup would have other pups to play with; no, our pup wouldn't be left home alone for any length of time, etc.,... They even posted photos and videos on Facebook so we could see her as we traipsed around Europe for 9 days. Getting to see her running and playing with new pup friends was the best! I adopted my rescued pitbull back in March. She was a real sweetheart inside the house, but outside was another story. After training with Thunder, she is pleasant to walk on a leash and her behavior can be controlled around other dogs. Thunder is an interesting case study. In addition to being a great dog trainer, he drives a cab in the morning and does carpentry work. My girlfriend has enlisted in his dog training services recently. I was there for some of the training, and the man knows his stuff, but like all trainers, it doesn't matter how good they are, YOU HAVE TO CONSISTENTLY DO THE HOMEWORK. He's an in-home trainer and the price is $300 for four sessions, but he also gets to know you and the dog before asking for any money, so he can do a thorough assessment of what is needed. read more

Thunder is absolutely the best at what he does!! We have two German Shepherds and mostly needed help with one of them. They are quite rambunctious and protective; not necessarily aggressive, but one likes to put on a show. I found Thunder after having had a really bad experience with a dog boarder/trainer in DesPlaines. Thunder came out a few years ago to help with basic training (walking on a lead, not attacking other dogs, etc.), and we had a lot of luck. As with most dog-training issues, the problem is usually pilot error, as in, no follow-through on the owner's part. Thunder came out more recently to help with some behavioral issues with the same pup and he really is just brilliant. I'll give an example and try to make it as brief as possible: Thunder and I both pulled up to the house at the same time for our session. The two shepherds were in the house. We came in through the garage and I asked what to do. I knew if I opened the door they would both run out like crazy barking maniacs, jumping all around, posturing. Thunder said to let them out and we'll see how it goes. They did not disappoint. I thought they were going to attack him so I started yelling at them and grabbed them both and threw them back in the house. I looked at Thunder and said I was sure I just did everything wrong. He's a very chill guy. He very calmly explained that if I go nuts, it's going to make them more crazy because they'll think there's some kind of problem they need to protect me from. By the way, all this time they were standing at the door, barking ... loudly. He said that when they act like this, to say in a firm and authoritative voice, "Hey, knock it off! That's enough!" The moment he said that, through the door, they both were silent. I opened the door to let them back out and they came into the garage and quietly sat down in front of him. I am not even joking. I don't know what magical powers he possesses, but he is amazing. Our dog just has a calmer, gentler disposition the more time he spends with Thunder. Finding a good trainer is a very difficult task. I think a lot of people call themselves a trainer and they have absolutely no knowledge or ability. Thunder is the exact opposite of that. He really is the BEST! read more

I cannot say enough about how great Thunder is. I would describe his technique as almost holistic in that it is SO much more than obedience training but instead really evaluates the dog's role in your home. He quickly learns the family/dog dynamic and provides essential assistance with how to optimize that. We have two dogs - one is timid, older and passive aggressive. The other is younger, assertive and nosy. The older one was losing confidence, retreating more and started challenging our authority. In 4 sessions Thunder provided us an overview of dog behavior, a clearer understanding of what was going on, methods for swiftly redirecting our older dog and easy methods for containing the nosiness of the younger one. We are so much more confident on handling our dynamic. He made use of every minute he was with us, which included training the youngest at the dog park. I am very grateful for his help. Thunder is very professional, and got right into teaching the minute he walked through the door. He does a great job of training the owners to be effective pack leaders for their pets. His methods really work. We have had several dogs in the past and took them all to obiedience training. With Thunder's help, training Gigi (our rescued Boxer) was quicker and more effecive than all the other trainers. In addition to normal obiediece training Gigi had aggression issues that were resolved with Thunder's help.
