Why is it so hard to find someone that knows how to properly give a cat a haircut?! Regardless, I did my research a few years ago and saw mostly stellar reviews as far as dog grooming at Pom. Found only a few reviews from cat parents, and those were all 5 stars. Reasonable pricing and reasonable proximity to home. Decided to give it a shot and bring my 11 month old Ragdoll in for a lion cut. Yikes. I never had a long-haired cat before but knew that this was not what a fresh cut should look like! Not at all what I had requested, completely choppy with lines and unevenness all over. Plus a few cuts! Poor Tila I don't understand why she trimmed her tail at all... It was not tangled, matted, or anything. I am a licensed cosmetologist so I did my best in going in with texturing shears to blend a bit and get rid of some blockiness. I wouldn't want to bash any small business, but my intention is to help inform anyone with the difficult task of searching out a cat groomer. This ain't it. Looks like people are very happy with the dog grooming, but they don't seem to have enough cat experience. Thankfully hair grows and we've since found Tila's forever stylist after this awful first haircut.

I've gotten two outstanding cats from this place. Sashimi, the adult tabby, came home about two years ago and has been the sweetest girl - my friends call her "angel cat" because she would never hurt a fly and loves people. Maki, the baby tuxedo, is the most well socialized kitten I've ever met. She is so brave and doesn't seem to understand the concept of strangers - I definitely credit the caregivers for socializing her so well. Both so healthy and happy! Thank you Hinsdale Humane Society for being such a reliable place and taking such great care of the little ones in their care! My home is a much happier place because of what you all do!

We waited weeks for the appointment and we live about 3 towns away, but the experience was worth the wait time and the drive. We dropped him off at 9:30 and he was ready for pick-up before 1 pm. He was not caged for a whole day, like some dog groomers do. We got exactly what we wanted: a bath, a nail trim, a summer cut and a face trim. Reggie is not a "show dog," Nevertheless, the cut is sleek, sporty, cooler for summer. His little face was expertly trimmed. He can see better and we are happy because the "feather" marking at the top of his head was maintained. The staff was kind and professional, according to my son, who picked up Reggie. This was our first visit here. That morning I arrived on time but unfortunately had misplaced my shot records and I understand that's the policy to have rabies vaccine proof. I was wondering if there was another way i could obtain the records. Which the groomer directed me u should be able to get it from petco, and i did within 10 mins. I honestly did not feel welcomed as the staff and owner barely spoke when I walked in. First thing the groomer said was my dog was big which the booking says if they are over 40 pounds my dog has a lot of hair but is only about 25 pounds so i was puzzled as to what that meant. The groomer stated she was matted and she didn't have time to brush her out so she would be shaved low i told her to do what she needed to do. She charged me 85 for med grooming and 25 for extra brushing which she shaved the dog but ok whatever. I'll give credit where it's due she did a pretty decent job shaving my dog down but etiquette for me is everything. Even as i was leaving after paying the bill the groomer barely said anything as I said thank you . No thanks for business nothing. Needless to say with all the reviews that was positive they couldn't have received the same response as I did being a new customer. Nevertheless I go elsewhere as I'm sure that's not the attitude with other customers. It's not what you say it's how you say it! I'll just say this is not the grooming place for my dog .

The normally feardy cat that Goldie, a golden ret./German Shep. mix, can behave like was soon calmed by Char's relaxed manner with her. She clipped her nails a lot cleaner than most groomers I've seen do. She's also got this really nice smelling shampoo that Goldie was scented with when all was done. I can tell he really loves his profession by the way he handled my boy. My 6 year old Maltese had an extremely painful trip to the groomer. Although unintentional, his entire genital area was burned (razor burn). After voicing my concern to the shop, the owner felt awful and immediately got my boy an appointment to see Dr. Hosek. Dr. Hosek treated my pup with a tender hand, medicated him appropriately for pain, and put him on a topical treatment for the burn. Dr. Hosek also made himself available by phone for after hour emergencies (which I did utilize on a Sunday morning); he was pleasant and reassuring. He did not seem bothered by this early morning call on his day off. Again, another sign Dr.Hosek truly cares for his four legged friends. I believe the only good thing that happened out of this experience is finding our new Vetrinarian! My little guy is on the road to recovery, and feeling better everyday!

My one dog gets seizures and we had been working with Dr Nathan on his meds and unfortunately he broke through and was having seizures for an hour straight. We took him into Merrick as an emergency during their regular hours not after hours and was turned away even though we were an established patient there. Reasons given were "they are not an emergency hospital/vet", "their schedule was booked for the day and they could not see us",the doctor was not in yet running late". I had asked if we could wait if the doctor would be coming soon to at least give my dog something to calm the seizure and than find someone, answer no! This office lacks big time with very uncompassionate, unfriendly and very unhelpful front desk staff. No guidance to where to go along with no worries for my dog. Maybe I think different but I would have thought that we are a patient of this office and they would help with an emergency during regular office hours. Would have been nice to know they would not see my dog with an emregency. Sad, very sad and disappointing, thought I found a good office.....I found a good doctor but bad everything else.
