I love clip n critters. The owner is very patient with my crazy puppy, and he always looks and smells great when I pick him up. I'm always amazed at how she is able to trim his face so neatly. I've been taking my puppy there every 3 weeks or so for the last several months for baths and haircuts, and I see no reason to go elsewhere! My dog is always happy to see her when we arrive so I trust that he is in good hands while he's there. I highly recommend! read more

I feel compelled to write this review just so no one else might experience what I am going through. I made an appointment for my dog to be groomed. I dropped her off at 9:00 a.m. She was her usual self with no issues whatsoever. Around 1:00 I got a call to pick her up and was there within ten minutes. When they called, I was told that she was having "accidents" all over the place. Again, she was fine when she left our house. The girl who took the payment said she would be cleaning up her messes later that evening. I got her in the car and I could see that something was not right. I got home and she collapsed and died right in front of me. Needless to say, I was and still am devastated. I have left one voice mail message for the owner letting her know that my dog died right after I picked her up. I sent two text messages, one stating that my dog died and the second one saying that she was being cremated today. I have not received a call back, a text or anything from this business. THIS REVIEW IS WRITTEN FOR MY BROTHER AS HE DOES NOT HAVE A YELP ACCOUNT. read more

I think Stacy did a good job of grooming my dog but it's not worth it. She books about ten dogs at a time and has you drop them off from 7-9am. She keeps the dogs in their crates for HOURS as she works on them. A better way would be to book only a few dogs that way they do not have to be cooped up for so long. She complained that my dog cannot go back since he was a lot of trouble for her. Well I am glad. I do not think those are good conditions to keep animals in. I now take my dog to Soggy Paws in the south loop. Double the distance and double the money but the environment is 100% better. read more

Its a sign of a great groomer, when the dog they are working on is wagging their tail. She is gentle and knowledgeable regarding breeds of dogs and how to handle them. I could not be more pleased with the way my dogs are treated. I saw an earlier review where a quick was clipped. That can happen to anyone. Its hard when nails are black. Personally, she has never clipped any of my dogs quicks. She appears to really love animals and not afraid to let an owner know if their dog needs better grooming or medical care. her prices are among the best anywhere. The salon is not fancy (understatement) , but the care is top notch. read more

When I lived on the south side of Chicago I took my American Staffordshire Apolis to Berwyn VCA and had his nails clipped by Stacy - it took her 30 seconds with the greatest of easy (my dog hates having his nails cut) Dog people not to be confused with people who own dogs Know its all in the energy of the person raising the dog makes them balanced or troubled...My boy was a police rescue puppy and I'm very balance so he was the greatest who wore sunglasses and clothes and boots in the winter for salt, most ding dongs were scared of his breed yet he was a muscle bound baby with spot on instincts like me it was like I had a mini me. Apolis passes away from cancer at the age 13 1/2 on St Patricks day 2011 and he loved Stacy. Dogs are all perfect - its always the owner/ family that makes them unbalanced and 98 % of people dogs are clueless on how it works - its a huge responsibility not an accessory that you feed and let out to crap. read more

I took my Shih Tzu here a few times. The third time the groomer called me and said that she nicked the lower lid of my dog, but it didn't seem bad. 3 stitches later.... My poor dog. She sliced the bottom lid with the clipper. My dog is 9 years old and has Never Moved So Much (so she said) with any other groomer. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I used to take my Jack Russell Terrier/Australian Shepherd here before, but it was enough with the owner's moaning. Stacy will cage the dogs for hours! If you were checking the status on the pets she will repeatedly mentioned you were late and I had to pay my friend to help me, and it will take another 2 hours. After an additional 2 hours; she said your dogs are bad and it is taking me longer blah, blah, and blah. If you are not pet friendly and over booked the poor dogs, why are you even in business? My Aussie used to come home horrified and never wanted to go there. Several times I addressed the fact she was cutting my Aussie's nails to close to the quick; which she always blamed the dog for moving too much. I believe people deserved second chances, but after continuously moaning from the owner, we decided to stop taking our boys there. read more

Today will be the last day I'll ever take my two beautiful/hyper golden retrievers to this groomer. My dogs are caged for HOURS & I'm for damn sure they don't get a break from being caged in. Today we had called to see when they'd be ready & she said 3:30.. The lady had called saying she needed more time or else they'd leave as they were. What type of "groomer" says that. I had also checked their nails & they were HORRIBLE! She did a half ass job & they were chipped off. I would never recommend this groomer to anyone. read more

The few other times I had no problem but this time I brought her in it was horrible!!! I brought her in at 7 am and she said it was fine , that same day I made an appointment at 1pm but she told my dad it was fine and my dad specifically said to not taking too long because it has happen with other groomers. So I went in at 3pm and she said she won't be done until 5pm so from 7-3 that was already 8 hours. So I go back at 5pm and she was cutting her hair and she said that it was going to be imposible to finish because she saw me and she would get crazy after that I was like you know what here's the money . 10 hours of her in there and she didn't finish that to me is ridiculous the time given. If she would of been honest and said I have too many dogs for today it would t been different. Very bad service read more

I called and asked how much it'd be to just do face, nails and butt. I told her I have a 5lb yorkie ( he is by far tge smallest yorkie I've seen. She quoted me 10$. I MADD my appointment for the next day. When I got there she told me that my dog it big. She just wanted to up the price because my dog is 3yrs old , 5lbs and 12" long. Then I heard her tell my dog I'm using my good sissors on your dirty hair. Then when she was shaving his butt she said yuck. Finally I couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer I asked"issomething wrong because I gave him. A bath last night". Very rude people. I will NEVER go there again. They did a sucky job anyway. I've been taking my dog here for about ten years. He gets a bath and nails trimmed, and it's always been a very good experience for both of us. I have been taking my dogs to Stacy for many year and she always does a great job. My first dog was a sheltie/beagle and she always came out looking great. I have a new dog, labradoodle, and again, amazing work. I have gone to other groomers with Lola since Stacy gets booked pretty quickly and I'm a procrastinator. When I pick up my dog and see the horrible job they do I regret it ever time. It's just not worth it, lesson learned. Now I book my appointment weeks in advance, soo worth the wait. I'm not entirely dissatisfied with the grooming, but I'm COMPLETELY dissatisfied with the customer service. Every time I drop off my dogs Stacey is rude and impolite by the way she tells me that my dogs are ungroomed and dirty. Obviously, if my dogs were clean I would not be taking them to the groomers. Today I took my dog to get her beard trimmed and I witnessed Stacey aggressively pull my dog's beard. I can't even imagine how she treats them when no one is there. She always puts millions of excuses when cutting both of my dogs' hair and says it can't be done the way we ask. I'm not necessarily picky with stuff like this, but Stacey's extreme rudeness makes it uncomfortable to go and drop off my dogs. read more

I've never had a problem making an appointment, the previous times I've called the workers were so kind and caring. This lady was a whole KAREN! My name and private info has been given to them. She made it very hard for me and my mother. I simply wanted to bring her in for an appointment at a place where they groom dogs. She had already stated A day for me and time to take her, tried saying to me that I wasn't in the system but told my mother otherwise. Had the nerve to ask if my dog is even up to date with her shots, wasn't even asked that the last two times I had taken her and Yes she has all her tags and info on her collar that she wears outside the house. I know I'm not crazy but this is outrageous. She simply was just not wanting to make the appointment from the start, and now she lost a customer. read more

I've been going there for a few years now and she LOVES the dogs and doesn't mistreat them at all!! If your dog is ill tempered or mean she will not take them back and I don't blame her! I felt horrible when I brought my 9 months old puppy here for her 1st grooming. I was talked to like a child and in an accusatory manner. I love my pup and had no idea that I wasn't grooming her correctly at home. But rather than just give me constructive advice, I was criticized and made to feel like I purposely didn't groom her correctly. I was desperate to get her groomed and my vet recommended her, so I accepted the scolding. However, when I picked my dog up, she was not herself at all. She hid under my bed for almost 2 days, and when she did come out she kept dragging her butt on the ground and both her ears were bright red. Her butt appeared very red as well. She shaved my dog because she said she had no other choice, which I accepted, but I am quite sure she knicked her anus in the process, obviously wasn't gentle with her ears. She also commented on how she never had a dog use her mouth as much as my dog ever....don't all puppies do that?!?!? Not to mention her drawn out rants about how no dogs are good any more and on, and on, and on! And she was upset about dog harnesses, they are terrible in her opinion, but I know from experience and my vet that they are more humane and safer than collars. I only wanted a grooming and I got chastised and a traumatized dog. Beware! read more

I used to take my chihuahua here to get her nail clipped and the lady with the red hair (who i believe is the ower) was always nice to me and by angery little dog. However I recently got 5 month old sibern husky and I took him over to see how much she would charge me for bath and bursh.i'm going to be honest I got my husky from a puppy shop and the guy at the shop told me that some people shave there huskys in summer to keep them cool. Seeing how this my first husky I asked her about it. She looked at me like I was idiot and made the comment only stuiped people get this kinda of dog in state.she asked me where I got him and told her a puppy shop.she smiled and said to me that my dog was an inbreed and his mom and father were probably brother and sister and he came from a puppy mill. After she said that she kick me and my dog out and started to spary disinfected as I was walking out. I was so offended that I was at a lost of words and I couldn't believe she would say that loyal customer it's a shame because I only live a few houses away from this place. I have given this place so many chances with different dogs I have had over the years, each time I have had bad experiences. Needless to say, it was not necessarily the actual grooming or work but the groomers horrible demeanor and attitude. My dog had cancer but i still wanted to clip his nails to help appease his discomfort and the cancer caused him to shed tremendously and the groomer was so ignorant and complained about the hair and told me next time to call and she would meet me outside. What does it matter if there is hair this is a dog grooming place. The next incident i brought my puppy who was scared and he peed I am like "oh I'm sorry was that him?" She sarcastically replied "Well gee it wasn't me!" and told me I better clean it up cuz she wasn't going to! Needless to say I will never bring another one of my dogs there again. These other reviews do not represent the experience that I have had 2-3 times a year for the last three years. I have an intact male bichon. I like to get him groomed because he does shed and the long hairs are annoying. I did get chided by "her" once that I needed to groom my dog more often, but what of that? The oil change people try to sell me a new air filter every time, too! For the price, my dog comes home groomed with a little bow and the whole bit, just as though he went to some fancy-shmancy spot. She leaves the dogs in the cage when they are not getting worked on, but they get walked; what else is she supposed to do? The place is a small storefront; it is easy enough to see everything that is going on. I am leaving a review just because we changed phones and then went to get the number, and I saw all of these horrible reviews. This place is legit. They care about animals. These bad reviews seem old and peevish. Just this place being in business still and having reviews (negative or otherwise) from 2012 says a lot. One star review because she would not do a $10 walk in? The eye cut thing I can't address, but these things happen. One star because your dog was in a kennel and the groomer is kinda gloomy? Or because your dogs had to be in a kennel for a few hours? Write what you want but that is unfair. This place is the best value in grooming in the area, it deserves consideration for your business. read more

I brought my cat Teddy in yesterday..They did a fabulous job! And he was not too nice with the groomers..He got a lion cut and looks gorgeous..the owner and her sister took a beating but made feel alright with it. I strongly recommend them and yes..they are compassionate with all the pets. read more

Stacey is amazing! She's been grooming my dogs for as long as I can remember - even when I was in grade school! She's always done an excellent job and my dogs LOVE going there and seeing her! They act like it's a spa day! They couldn't be happier to see her! She's very caring and meticulous. If there is an issue that she sees, she will tell you right away and recommend a vet visit if it seems serious. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. If you want top quality grooming for your pet, bring them here! I see a lot of reviewers saying that the pets are locked up for hours, but I know for a fact this is NOT true. I live close by and see that they take the dogs out for walks at regular intervals. Some people just make assumptions and can't handle being told if something is wrong or if their pet misbehaves. I prefer to know this so I can work with my pet to correct these things. This place is just wonderful! read more

A friend referred me to Stacey years ago for nail trims because she was so reasonably priced. That was the beginning of a long and happy relationship! My dog could not have been more thrilled each time he walked through that door! He was never happy to see any groomer, ever. But, when we went to see Stacey, his tail was wagging and he was actually smiling. My dog is a 78lb mixed breed...a handful...but with Stacey, he's a lump of mush. She zips through his nails in seconds. I don't think we've ever been in there longer than 5 minutes unless her and I started chatting. I have also brought him in for a bath and ear cleaning...he doesn't require any "grooming" as his hair is as long as an eyelash. Stacey is top-notch, professional, extremely friendly and a dog lover who, herself, owns dogs. How can you ask for anything more! Since I've moved I've not been able to find anyone who comes anywhere near the qualities I had with Stacey...not even at any of the local vet's offices. Still searching... read more
