Started bringing our mini Aussie (Cash) and teacup Yorkie (Jojo) to here earlier this year and they do a fantastic job every time! Our Yorkie can be hard to groom but they always do their best which is far superior to what we can do at home! The prices are what you expect in the Chicago area but I switched to Barkin' because my old groomer could never get me scheduled even with a month notice. Barkin' always finds time to accommodate when I need the dogs groomed and I especially love I can add on nail grinding because the dogs come home with less sharp nails than when they are just cut! The bandannas they put on are also a great finishing touch! Highly recommend this groomer!! Every dog I see leaving looks amazing! read more

So I love this place and this past groom is partially why! I've been taking my aussie Max for awhile. He can go with a brush, but he's better with a groom. They are sometimes booked so you may have to plan for that. But i took him this past week, wasn't entirely loving how shaggy n fluffy he still looked, called the next morning an they fit him in for a quick fix! He smiles either way, but he's definitely a Handsome man now! Definitely worth coming for! read more

I normally pay a lot less at Pet Smart, but this place is totally worth it! I have never seen Lloyd so clean, and his coat was amazingly soft like velvet and smooth, it reminded me of a nice cashmere sweater or silk. He also smelled so good! Awful service. I switched groomers and this was my first time and Barkin Boutique; Rachel was the groomer. It took about 4 hours and my dog was rushed back into my car (you can't go into the shop due to covid), I pulled up dog was brought to the car, door shut... that's when I noticed my dog had feces all over her. My dog dog exceptionally well at groomers and has never had this issue; we only switched due to location. I went back to the door to knock and all I could here was someone screaming at a barking dog to "shut the f*** up", I just left and re bathed my dog myself, needless to say... won't be returning... just awful read more

We just moved to the area and we needed a groomer for our cat. He needed a lion cut and so I turned to Yelp. I saw that this establishment was close to home and had 5 stars from every reviewer so I knew I had to give it a try. We got there before 8 and the place was already busy. People were picking up their dogs who looked great. I met the lady who would be taking care of Wolfie and felt at ease leaving him. When u walk in the first thing you notice are all the zen cats walking around the shop. I loved that. They all came over and welcomed us. There are stalls that are all open and visible to the customers. I loved that as well. Wolf received an excellent cut. I highly recommend this business. My new go-to place. read more

It pains me to write this review as we have been loyal customers for years and they've always given our dogs great haircuts (hence two stars vs. 1), but the experience and horrible customer service we had with Rachel today was enough to tip in NOT making the extra 15 min drive to the new location. Upon arriving, I apologized for be 6 mins late-Rachel's response was "Next time give us a call (why, you had another dog up anyway so what would that have accomplished?), and just so you know we have a 15 minute late fee." To which I said, "Well, we are only 6 mins late." So, that information was not really necessary. After some back and forth about what kind of haircut our puppy needed, a full haircut, not a puppy cut, she explained that she would have to charge full price, and could only do an inch so if we wanted more she'd have to use scissors and that would be $30 an hour. Again, none of this information was necessary because all we really wanted was the same haircut you've been giving our dogs for 5 years. Upon picking up the dog (after 4hrs for an 11lb dog), she didn't have the typical bow the other groomers include. I asked how she was, and Rachel said "she was ok, she was falling asleep which made it hard." We'll, she's a 6 month old puppy and has been here for 4+ hrs, maybe don't take so many appointments or add more staff? Final straw was the location also smelled horribly when we arrived for pickup. Like a dog had just gone # 2 all over the boutique. The whole thing is really too bad because our previous visit for Ruby's puppy cut with Betty could not have been a better experience. She was kind, thoughtful and had a great attitude towards customers. Maybe she can train Rachel? read more

My dog got the haircut the groomer wanted him to have. The groomer did not listen to me at all regarding how I wanted my dog's haircut. He looks ridiculous now. Awesome kids here! We brought our 14 year old, 100lb lab, Lobo, in who needed a bath and a desperate de shedding, as whenever he took a step you could see his hair fall out, 4 brushing a day and still hair falling out. They greeted him as he was their own. I'm sure he barked the entire time he was there but they didn't make a fuss over it. This was a few months ago and he still isn't shedding! I took my very anxious puppy to the Barkin Boutique on a whim. I was unhappy with previous groomers and a little uneasy about a new groomer. But after having Rachel take care of my pup they have a new loyal customer. I was able to call and get a same day appointment (on a weekend) which is unheard of! My puppy never has had a good of a hair cut as he received here. Rachel and another groomer worked together to help Frankie get not only a hair cut but his nails trimmed. I've been taking my dog here for awhile now. They have gotten better each time I take him. His latest cut was just perfect. The only thing I don't like is that after your dog is finished, they put him in an area with other dogs. This totally stresses my dog out. They will put him in a separate area if you ask, so be sure to ask if your dog doesn't like being around other dogs. Don't expect them to have any dog food or treats for sale like some larger shops. A plus for them is that they always can fit you in. The best thing is that they are open on Sundays! I would recommend Barkin' Boutique for your dog! read more

By far the best place I've brought my shih tzu for a grooming! Everyone there is so friendly! Brittany is our favorite! She treats my dog like he's her own! Other places have taken 4-5 hours before I'd get a call that he was ready to be picked up. But here, he's done within 2 hours and looks great! They are also priced very reasonably!!!! ***ATTN: My dog contracted leptospirosis from this shop. She died from this awful disease so beware! I brought my dog in on February the 24th of 2018. Rachel Wickman is the owner and someone I thought was a friend. I have know her for 10 plus years so I figured I'd make the long trek from my home in Chicago to support her small business. It took them a whopping 4.5 hours to finish my Jack Rat and Pitbull. When we got home my pitty seemed to be limping quite a bit. With a closer examination I realized some of the nails were cut far too short and she had been bleeding. This was upsetting given the fact I wasn't informed before leaving. On March 2nd, 3 of her digits on 3 separate paws were completely swollen like small balloons. I immediately took her to Summit Animal hospital where they prescribed her Antibiotics and steroids for a full 10 day cycle. I let her know about the situation and she said she was sorry. No offer to pay the bills nor to reimburse me for the grooming fees. As time progressed my dog became more and more ill. At this point she offered to refund the money for her services. I brought her back on the 6th and she stayed hospitalized until her death on the 12th. Rachel was very actively keeping up with the situation while she was alive but upon receiving the news of her death she completely ceased all contact. Refusing to answer any of my messages for 6 days now, I was forced to remind her of the fact that I know where to find her and her family on a day to day basis. This talk got her out of the woodwork and she had her husband call me. Yes, husband called me instead of her. She refuses to give me her insurance information so I called the shop a young lady Brittany hung up on me the second I spoke of my lawyer. I was so highly appalled at this childish behavior. According to a former employee I spoke with these woman also chose to drink wine while they are servicing our family members. In addition to all this, I find out my dog isn't the only one. There has been a dog who was accidently hit by a car, also a dog who was attacked by the co owners foster dog. With all this stuff going on I had no choice but to get my lawyer involved. One thing I cannot stand is people who don't take responsibility for their mistakes. Had Rachel reached out and approached this situation like a responsible business owner and friend this review wouldn't be here. It's the 7 days of silence that has brought us here. I just want justice for my baby. Before you entrust your family with someone you don't really know, do your research. I have testimonials that I have collected from numerous former clients corroborating my statements I made here. I have never bathed Oliver, my one year old pitbull mix before. I thought he didn't need a bath with his short hair. I brought him in to Barkin Boutique last week for the works. He started out with a much needed nail trim. He was shampooed and conditioned. He received a cranberry facial and looked like he was lovin' it. Then a blow dry and brushing. Ear cleaning too. Brittany offered to brush his teeth, but my husband does that! Oliver enjoyed this new experience and I was impressed with how great he looked. I love their hours, especially that they are open on Sundays. They do a good job with my dog, especially around his rear end area and his face. His nails come out really good when they're done.
