When I used to go there decades ago it was a top notch dog groomer! At the time I had a miniature schnauzer and once he was groomed he looked so good even HE didn't want you touching him! No joke!!! Don't take your dog here, these ladies hit and cut our little furry baby's. After a few times I took my dog there she will be somewhat depressed/sad sitting in the couch for the rest of the day and part of the next one. Second time I tried, once we walked in she started shaking instantly. I wish she can talk to tell me what they did to her in that place. New place is on 55th and Pulaski, I take her there since then and no issues. She doesn't shake, and she'll be fine just the happy dog she is. read more

I am undecided about the clip joint,, the first time I took my senior lhasa there about 2 years ago, I was amazed they were able to grrom her without her freaking out. I video taped the whole thing and was so happy.. fast forward to the third time. they told me to leave that she would be fine, and less nervous. I had always liked to stick around because I dont trust groomers in general.but they wanted me out of there so I went to have a coffee.I got a call 5 minutes later saying that she was like a bucking bronco trying to get away. I tried explaining that before when I had been there with her it had gone perfectly.. they said oh you should have said somehting.. Yesterday I took another dog.. I had a 1 oclock appt.. they said you go now we will call you in 3 or 4 hours.. I thought wow.. anyway I came back at 4.. they still had not even started grooming him! The owner asked me if I just wanted to take him! She said if not I shold leave so I wouldnt make him nervous! When I hesitated she went in the back and another lady came and told me I should leave so he wouldnt misbehave! That he could smell me! It was cold out and I had walked an hour to get there, so I wasnt ready to go out in the cold and just wander around for yet another hour.. I just took him and went home.. ungroomed, after he had been there 3 hours. I really liked them at first, but now it seems they are just rude and pushy to get me out of there, they dont even want me in the waiting room, which makes me very nervous. Such a small place! Great service so far. Pros: Friendly attentive service Cons: None other than the place is really small. But that's not really a con. I don't remember how I first found out about this place (probably Google) and I've only been here twice both times with different dogs. My experience thus far has been very good. The staff is always friendly, courteous, and seems to genuinely care for the pets. We brought a friend's dog here which is a shih tzu/yorkie mix and a pitbull terrier. Both experiences ended with well groomed coats and what I perceived as good attention to detail. On the last visit they mentioned my pet may have an ear infection so I scheduled a vet visit and it's getting taken care of. I did once meet the owner who stated she's from eastern Europe, came to the U.S., and has been grooming pets for the majority of her life. She seemed quite knowledgeable about many breeds and was a joy to talk to. The other groomers there have all been very friendly. If possible, schedule an appointment. Not usually necessary but a good precaution. read more

I've been bringing my Maltese here since he was 6 months old. He just turned 6 and this is the only place I trust. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. They treat my dog like he's their own. They don't hesitate to recommend what is the right cut for your pet for the weather. That's good to know so your dog can be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Great place!!! I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive at first. The groomers around the area had pretty bad reviews. This was close to home and had decent reviews, so I gave it a try. The groomers are super friendly. They took the time to explain the process and so on. The place is tiny, a bit outdated, and they take cash only. So I left my puppy and headed out. When I came back to get her, she was sound asleep waiting for me. The puppy cut was minimal so don't expect a major change. Update to my first review- So my puppy DID show some stress as soon as we got home and for about 4 days after her visit. I've taken my puppy for grooming elsewhere, I can see the difference. Worst customer service ever walked in and walked out. Very rude personnel. Avoid this place, the smell is horrible.

They were very accommodating with regard to a last minute bath appt. (no nail clipping) for my 1 1/2 yr. old ( English bulldog) but when I got there, the location was cluttered and sweltering. They asked me to go 'around back' to get my dog up and into the tub.... The actual bather didn't speak English... They have a bunch of cages and kennels piled up on top of each other which is where they put your dog after it's been bathed to dry by literally propping up a hair dryer with pillows.... While the ladies are very nice, I will not be taking my girl there again, she didn't smell clean and I ended up taking her home wet. read more

I was looking for a good place to take my babies Princess and Chocolate for their first grooming experience, and I found this place on Yelp. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. The lady who made my appointment was so knowledgeable and friendly over the phone, that made me feel confident this was the right place to take my dogs. She even recommended the most basic service at first So the puppies don't get traumatized by the sound of the razor machine, something none of the other places I called did. I took to get my dog a haircut and it must of been the the best experience ever for him . At first he was scared because of Pet Paradise that abused him. Then the people there had the time to comfort him and make him himself a home. When I came back to pick him up he looked fantastic and felt really soft. I couldn't believe it! Nothing but praise for Brita and Karen!!! I have a mix pom/yorkie that has never liked baths but he learned to suffer through. Unfortunately he had an accident at his groomer which turned him against the place. Although I waited four months to take him back he wasnt cooperative and I was told they couldn't use a muzzle, if he acted out again he wouldn't be allowed and was told to have him sedated. A huge NO! I called the major chains and was told the same thing, no muzzles have him sedated. Thankfully I found Clip Joint on Yelp and I gave them a called. I talked to Brita for at least 30 minutes and she was very understanding, she listened to my concerns and eased my anxiety. Even though it was the holiday week she was willing to see my baby the very next day! I took him in and both Brita and Karen stopped what they were doing, sat down with me and Tupac( my dog) and made sure we both were at ease before I left to finish shopping. The rest is history! I came back and he was well groomed and smelling great! They were God sent and I look forward to seeing them soon. I know Tupac is ready as well!! read more

My mom and I have been taking our dogs here for the last couple of years and we've recommended the owner to our family. My dog has a problem with people touching his paws and the last groomer I took him to put him under so she can properly shave his paws. He was pretty lethargic afterwards so I decided never to take him there again. The owner knows my dog very well. She has two other people helping her during the process so that he won't get scared or worried. He comes out of there feeling great. Can't say how much I love this place! read more

I have been going to the Clip Joint since my poodle was 6months old and she is now 8 years old. Never ever once had an issue with them. They are very friendly, patient, attentive, and courteous. My my admit yes my dog has been nicked here and there but nothing serious. They always inform you and make sure to use antibiotic cream. My dog always leaves smelling fresh. Very small place but does not smell even as soon as you walk in. They usually do not answer the phone when you call you always have to leave a message but they will always call you back. I am not sure if they accept walk ins so make sure to set up an appointment. read more
