I've moved between three different states and had about five vets in that time. More if you count a few emergency vet visits. I have NEVER had to book a second appointment because of my cat's temperament. My first visit to this office was in Oct 2025. They have signs posted about not serving pets that get agitated, including possible sedation for services. My cat was there for a swollen leg, and was not happy to be there. (And please feel free to enlighten about any cat that enjoys the vet.) He was five at the time and the previous vet never complained about his temperament. This vet, however, was standoffish with him. Her name is Dr. O'Connor. Thankfully, we got through the appointment but I wasn't impressed with her hesitancy to provide service. Fast forward to today, April 2026. I brought both my cats in for their annual wellness exams. They each needed updated vaccines. The tech came in first, checked their weights, and confirmed the services we needed. (Which they don't have right. The thought only one cat needed shots but they both did.) The vet comes in without the vials for shots and made a comment about not having them prepared yet. The first cat goes up and does fine. No shots administered while he was happy though because they weren't in the room... Now the second cat goes up and is not as cooperative. Thankfully, she managed to give him his shot. Now it's time to bring the first cat up again and he's getting defensive. As cats do at the vet! (At least in my experience) She tells me I'll have to bring him back for a "tech appointment" for the shots because he's agitated. His "kitty minutes" as they call them are up. -_- We waited 20 minutes to be seen, then the vet comes in without everything she needs to facilitate the appointment, yet I have to pay a secondary appointment fee now because of the office's negligence and poor bedside manner? My cats behaved how they always behave at the vet and it's never been an issue. It's seems like this vet and certain techs are uncomfortable around animals, frankly. Maybe they're new to the field? Idk I moved to Elma from Lakewood which is why I switched vets. I would rather make the hour drive one way to my previous vet in Tacoma with two cats in tow than deal with this office again. And moving forward, I will. I did book the tech appointment because my cat needs the update on his rabies shot, and I don't want it to be delayed any further. Ultimately, I will adhere to their policies but it's just not the type of service I'm looking for in a vet. I will say, to their credit, that the appointment was originally scheduled for the week before and I had to reschedule last minute. (The cats are indoor outdoor and got out while I was at work. Came home to an empty house) They were very nice about it, and I do recognize they could argue I wasted their time first. My advice - go the Union Ave Vet Hospital in Tacoma and see Dr. Plevinskyi. He's awesome!

My boyfriend and were glad to find a kennel that could take her as we had and emergency to go take care of. When we dropped rose of at Devonshire the staff was helpful and seemed to care. This made us feel comfortable boarding Rose there. However, when we picked her up, we knew we made a big mistake. We asked how Rose did and the only thing we were told when we came in the door was, she did great. First rose was terrified of the guy that brought her out to us and rose isn't afraid of anyone. The dog hates getting in the car, but she flew out of my arms into the car she was shaking so bad. We have left her with other people before and she did not act like this when we picked her up. Second, they just threw her in a cage and didn't pay any attention to rose. We sent blankets, toys and her bone with her but when we picked Rose up, they didn't even know which blankets were hers and when they finally found her stuff it was packed just like we left it. Third Rose lost weight she looked sick and frail. She was starving she dove into her food and ate faster than I have ever seen her eat. She was also extremely thirsty. Rose couldn't stop drinking water. Finally, she had diarrhea for a week, and I mean very runny diarrhea. We only left her there for 3 nights. Rose shouldn't have been in such bad shape. We feel like she would have died if we left her for a week or more. We will never and I mean never use Devonshire pet lodge again. Rose did not do great instead she was neglected big time.

So we asked around and decided to give Devonshire Pet Lodge a chance for two nights while we delt with a family situation. Oh my word, we came to pick up our dog and the door was shut in my husbands face to wait outside. Then when they came back to the door, My husband asked how was she? They told us she was one of the sweetest dog they have met. When we bent down to love on her, we saw our 2 year old little dog was shaking so bad that she ended up peeing on the ground. The person that was handing us our dog smacked her on the nose and yelled at her. My husband told her never hit my dog again! All the way home, she cowered in the back of our car, shaking and whimpering the whole drive home. Since being home, she will not come out of her bed, nor snuggle us, not even to eat nor drink anything. This is not my purebred Siberian Huskey dog. She usually is ecstatic to great our kids and to get on our property to go say hello to all the chickens, rabbits and ducks. I will never take my precious girl there again.

We had been trying to adopt a dog in Seattle for months with no luck, so we decided to make the trip to Hoquiam. I am so glad we did. Nanette is incredibly kind, genuine, and knowledgeable. The patience she showed us went far beyond what we expected. She spent the entire time with us answering questions, sharing training advice, and helping us get to know the dogs. We originally came to meet one dog, but ended up meeting five, and I am really glad we did. What we expected to be a quick 10-15 minute meet and greet turned into more than an hour. We were able to play with several dogs, talk with multiple staff members and volunteers, and really learn about the personalities of the dogs we were meeting! One thing that really stood out was how much everyone at North Beach Paws clearly cares about the animals. While the facility is not a large brand new building with fancy equipment, it was clean, well maintained and the animals are very loved! Also, for my fellow thrifters, they have a huge Saturday garage sale / thrift market that helps support the rescue. There were great prices and a lot of really cool finds. If you're in the Pacific Northwest and looking to adopt a dog or cat, I highly recommend checking out North Beach Paws!

Being part of the spay/neuter/foster/rescue…read morecommunity for the last 20+ years has afforded me the ability to experience a wide range of veterinarians over multiple states. However, this review is about, hands down, the VERY BEST veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure to work with, Dr. James Belknap. We came to him with our "foster failure," chunky monkey, big baby, lab/shar pei/pit mix, Daisy, who presented with a large soft tissue sarcoma, but, unfortunately, on her rear leg where she didn't have any extra skin to close the wound after the sarcoma, tissue and surrounding muscle were excised with clean margins. I sought out Dr. Belknap for consultation and surgery solely based on what I was able to ascertain from online research regarding his expertise and experience. Although Dr. Belknap had never seen Daisy before my initial outreach, he went above and beyond +++ to advise and consult long distance helping us to prepare the best possible outcome for Daisy, all without even her first office visit with him. Separation anxiety post-op was a given knowing Daisy's history when she first came to us and Daisy surely wasn't happy about being kenneled for 5 days at the vet without her parents to sleep with. With a 2+ hour drive one way, we had to leave her in their caring hands. Dr. Belknap kept us apprised daily with updates post-op and on the 5th day we picked her up. From that point forward, Dr. Belknap kept in close contact by phone and text, asking for pics on a regular basis so he could see her progress. He worked with our local vet to share progress reports and records. Dr. Belknap was happy to see Daisy post-op as often as we were able to make the drive, which we did every couple of weeks. Daisy subsequently developed a deep tissue infection post-op requiring more intervention and resulting in our administering nightly medication with a catheter into the opening of her leg. After almost 2 months of recovery, Daisy was finally deemed "healed," but Dr. Belknap's care didn't end there. He reached out a couple of weeks later to be sure there wasn't any return of drainage or irritation. All in all, every pet deserves a veterinarian like Dr. James Belknap. Whether you need an expert veterinary surgeon or not, I highly recommend Dr. Belknap for all of your pets needs. Including a pic of the surgery and flap created, all of which is now completely healed. (Don't look if you're squeamish.) Worst groomer I have ever been to. DO NOT COME HERE! They add hidden fees for being "bit"... but…read morewhen asked about it she can't recall the bite, it was more of just a "snap"... but again she doesn't recall because she groomed so many dogs. So if that bite was so bad that you need to charge me an additional $50, why can't you recall it? If you have to have a fee that you add for so many dogs biting you, maybe you shouldn't be a groomer. I will be looking into her license and reporting her. My poor pup is super razor burnt, and her little face looks horrible. She has been groomed her entire life and I have never had any issues or her not liking clippers like she said. She only did half of her face! (See photos) If you want to be scammed for hidden fees and a terrible hair cut this is the place to go. The owners response to this and her other reviews are ridiculous! Penelope is our family dog! So to assume she isn't my dog is absolutely ridiculous. And my mother only tipped you because she is a nice person and we believe in tipping people period. Even if everything wasn't up to standard we don't want to hurt peoples livelihood, take the tip and the criticism and move up and on. Good and bad reviews help companies know what they are doing good and bad at.

Monty is a rescue pup and is very shy and unsure around people. These ladies completely understood that a dog who has been through trauma sometimes needs extra patience, gentleness, and kindness. They were prepared to give Monty the time and care he needed instead of rushing him or making him uncomfortable. That means so much to me. It's not just about giving a dog a great grooming--it's about understanding the dog in front of you and making them feel safe. I would absolutely recommend these wonderful ladies, especially to anyone who has a rescue or a pup who needs a little extra patience and understanding. Now, a year later, I find out the hard way that they do trees bloom at completely different times. No way are they going to pollenate. Moreover, I found out too late that the tree they sold me, was carrying blister mites, Which have now infected both of my pear trees. This parasite is very difficult to eliminate.
