All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. (I know it sounds disgusting right? Nope it worked. The chef is just showing off with this dish)

I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

Navíos was nothing short of amazing!…read more My big baby and I went on our first (of many) vacation to Cancun. While there we picked three nice restaurants to try and Navíos was one of them. Ambiance is gorgeous. On the bay, this gorgeous restaurant is sexy and giving out door classy if that makes sense. Customer service was outstanding and the servers were super friendly. My big baby doesn't speak a lick of Spanish and they spoke English which was great. For all you non Spanish speaking people, have no fear they speak English too. Loved the Alligator sign as it did make the visit exciting, I really wanted to see one come near us but no luck as those visitors are night time party animals. Let's get into it! We are in Mexico where chips and salsa are complimentary! They were so good and the salsas were delicious. Who needs a real app when you have these! Shrimp Alfredo - It was good! Fish of the day - (native to the waters from there) He loved it! Dessert- We passed! Being on the bay there are tons of mosquitoes. We had to make a fast break to our hotel. Although the food was good we would likely never choose a restaurant with outdoor seating as this proved to be a bit of a challenge. They did have off which helped. The only thing I like biting me while on a lovely vacay is my lover! No bueno to the mosquitoes. Side note: No stars off! The place is gorgeous and food was great!

Waiters speak Spanish and English, are very friendly, and absolutely no wait for the waterfront table. The shrimp ceviche had so many shrimp with a tasty sweet sauce and avocado garnish. Guacamole was perfectly prepared, and all meals come with tortilla chips and a variety of salsas on a decorative boat tray. The tuna steak and Salmon with Lime Sauce were prepared perfectly and were both tasty and high quality. Sadly, the food was so delicious and filling we had no room to try the desserts. About a block away from the Isla Mall, but a much more authentic experience than the mall restaurants. A must-try dinner spot for seafood lovers in the Cancun hotel zone.

Wow, was it beautiful! Our waiter suggested the Cadillac margarita and blueberry mojito. That was the best mojito I have EVER had. We were more and more impressed with every bite. The bread for the table was so light and delicious. With butter that was the perfect temp to spread. So good! We started with a lobster bisque and Caesar salad, that was made table side for us... he put real effort into that Caesar salad and man, you could tell! We always order to share so for the main course we went with the seafood fettuccine and the ribeye steak. So delicious. And we couldn't get over how affordable our meal was! After a great lazy day of floating around the pool for our last day in Cancun, we almost decided to…read moreskip a nice dinner and just grab some (more) tacos from a casual spot nearby. But, after debating and reading some reviews, we decided to call (at 7pm) and see if La Buena Barra had any open tables for 7:30. Since Cancún dinner culture generally ramps up after 8, we were in luck and headed to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the host team and escorted promptly to a great table outside, overlooking the lagoon and the last bits of sunset in the sky. The ambience of La Buena Barra is amazing, great lighting, ceiling fans to keep a light breeze going, and music that is loud enough to prevent you from hearing conversations at other tables, but still allowed us to talk just fine. Our servers Jonathan and Estefany were the sweetest and most attentive that we experienced during our trip! Excellent food recommendations, even advising against getting a second dessert (due to their size) instead of just letting us spend more money there. Absolutely worthy of 5 star service! Ok- the food: very good, probably some of the more distinct flavors we enjoyed in Cancun. Also a very unique selection of cocktails, delivered in all sorts of unique glasses. BUT truly the best thing we ate was the corn ice cream! It's molded ice cream that looks exactly like an ear of white corn with a ribbon of dulce de leche in the center- honestly the best ice cream I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Prices per person can easily exceed $1000 pesos here depending on what you get, but it's possible to enjoy the experience on a budget. We shared an appetizer (empanadas, highly recommend), shared a large entree (ribeye tacos, comes with 7), a cocktail, side of corn, and dessert- ended up being around $1200 plus tip.

I think I like the ambience of the interior at this location better than the one in Mexico City. As…read morefor the terrace seating, you can't compare the waterfront view here.
