Lara Tal Cohn of For Pup's Sake is terrific…read more She has a very strong understanding of how dog's think. Of course, as with all dog training, our trainer was mostly training us, but she took the time to observe where our communication was not making sense to our Pup. And she explained that "dogs think I'm pictures". My wife and I came to Lara with a headstrong 4 and a half month month old Standard Poodle that wouldn't announce when he had to do his business. So in addition to other concerns with puppy we didn't trust him at all in the house. Frankly, we've had poodles for many years and training has always been a breeze (on our own). This fellow - Remy- as Lara said, "had his own opinions". Remy jumped on us non- stop and always used his mouth/ teeth to lead. In addition to that - it appeared obvious to us that this pup knew what we wanted, he just didn't want to do it. Lara progressed through various training collars (non-electrical) until we found a combination that Remy seemed to understand. And she taught us how to appropriately reward our pup (as opposed to bribe). The first month and a half of training was frustrating - we didn't see that miraculous change into a wonderful poodle. Lara encouraged and continued to teach my wife and me in the simple techniques to get Remy to pay attention to us. Lara's service includes access to her by phone and email. That so very helpful. She is ready available for chats We asked Lara to document in an email what we worked on during our session and what to expect next. She did that very well. Remy is now coming up on 8 months old. He's a big poodle - already about 60 lbs but he is now housebroken, does not use his mouth/teeth for anything but eating or chewing on his toys and he does not (usually) jump up on strangers. Walking him on a leash is a pleasure. When we walk past barking, lunging dogs Remy simply keeps on walking as if he hardly noticed We strongly recommend Lara and For Pup's Sake Lenny and Jinny Marsh Fairfax Station

She kept us both really motivated to practice and the results were awesome. Not only am I happy, but my pup is much happier too! Now we frequently receive compliments on my pups behavior. We go for long walks without pulling or acting crazy when she sees another dog. She was jumping, nipping, not listening and destructive. My grandchildren were frighteNed by her. Now they are able to play with her and life is good! I highly recommend Lara without reservation!

My puppy (now 5 months old) loves this place. She leaps out of the car and is so excited when we…read morepull in. She seems to know what she is in for. The reasons I love this place are as follows: 1) Unlike other places, they group the dogs into smaller groups based on weight and temperament. This allows for 1 staffer per 5-6 pups. 2) They give them play and rest times. My pup began here when she was 3 months old and she would not have lasted all day without a rest. The staff watch over them and take them in for nap and rest when they need it. 3) One on one time for each dog. The staff spends one on one time each day with every dog to make sure they get some individual training and attention. 4) My pup comes home exhausted and thrilled to have had a play day! 5) My interactions with the staff, especially Courtney, have always been pleasant and left me feeling like my pup was in good hands. 6) the indoor facility (in case of rain) is clean, nice, and had agility apparatuses for the pups to play with. I do wish they were open on weekends and allowed for boarding. I know my pup is so happy to be there for daycare, and she would feel safe there if she had to be left overnight. That is the only reason I didn't give this a 5.

They send you daily report cards while your dog is there so you know just how their time is! I really get nervous with my senior boy and making sure he's enjoying his time. You will definitely find products your can't find at your local grocery store. The variety of canned Fancy Feast, kitty treats and other cat foods is without parallel. Cat supplies, cat toys, litter choices, grooming tools, and pets beds/climbing/scratching posts are plentiful. I also purchase my kitties' flea meds here! Feline heaven! I also love feeding the wild birds and they stock lots of seed and feeders for your fine feathered friends! And if you have pet birds, you'll be happy with aisles full of finch, parakeet, canary, cockatoo and parrot (and other bird) items! The dog section is huge for you puppy parents... check it out! And the aquariums full of fish are cool as well. Don't forget the little hamsters and other little furry creatures... as far as pet stores go, this one is pretty clean. The vivacious cashier, Vegas, is always pleasant and helpful. I have their PetSmart savings card which saves me a few bucks. Lots of parking. My only "pet peeve" is that it needs to put in a cart return, have cleaner carts and a sanitizing system.

Pam Popkins Hall who is the co-founder of Cat's Cradle is extremely unprofessional, rude, and spreads total lies about people she interacts with when she's representing Cats Cradle of RVA. We have had a few interactions with Mrs. Hall... during all of which she was representing this organization. Each time we have been met with total unprofessionalism, outlandish assumptions she makes out of nowhere, and unfair judgement. This is our family's personal, fair, and factual account of our personal experience of the lack of professionalism, compassion, and/or care displayed by their volunteer Pam Hall. My husband and I both have gotten harassing messages & threats from this organization.
