If I could give negative stars to hurt their ratings more, I would. I've been getting my dog groomed every month for years at different groomers depending on location and availability. And this by far was the WORST experience I have ever had! While hard to believe with this review, I'm not one to be hateful towards any service staff in any industry but I've been so upset by this encounter that I have to leave a review to notify any dog parents of anxious or wiggly fur babies to NEVER bring your dog here. To note, prior to the pandemic, I've taken my dog to this PetSmart for grooming and LOVED them. However, ever since the pandemic, I have had awful awful experiences. It is clear this grooming salon has and continues to go downhill. I'm not sure if it's a local store or Corporate policy but PetSmart at Libbie Mill will no longer accept any dog that is wiggly or anxious to where the groomer needs any kind of assistance at any point from another groomer. I was NOT notified of this at the time of booking nor prior to my appointment; I was only informed after I had already dropped my little 3lb Yorkie off to get groomed and told them she was anxious as an FYI. With COVID restrictions lifting, it has been extremely hard to get in with any groomer as they've been booking a month plus out and she's been in desperate need for 2-3 months now because of her small size and fast hair growth. I've been looking forward to this for quite sometime for a number of reasons and have had such a hard time finding any availability. Within an hour of drop off, I received a call that they couldn't finish her because she was so wiggly. They finished the bath and said they'd try to cut the hair from her eyes ... and just WOW. She looks absolutely awful. And now I have to go on the search again for groomer availability to fix this horrendous situation. I'm not usually picky with her haircuts - just short enough because it grows so fast. However, her hair is so choppy and looks like she has some sort of alopecia problem. It's absolutely awful. She literally fits in both my hands and is so tiny yet she's too much for one person to handle. Which again, I understand but thought that was the whole point of grooming with multiple groomers in a salon is to have assistance when necessary. I don't know many dogs that would sit there quietly and calmly. That fact that they are essentially discriminating against anxious dogs is absurd to me. This "new policy" is unacceptable and their intolerance of anxious pets breaks my heart as we nor they can always change that. Personally, we have tried but with little success when it comes to grooming. PetSmart's motto of "Where pets are family" is the biggest lie and scam as their grooming department only takes well-behaved, non-anxious pets, thus, clearly have a prejudice towards our pets that have a little more anxiety than normal. It's actually disgusting and strongly urge you to stay away if your fur baby falls into this category as well. Not only is it an inconvenience but breaks my heart as they are dogs and can't always control that. It is so unprofessional in the sense that these PetSmart groomers are leaving your dog an absolute mess and are given back worse off than when they came in. STAY AWAY!

The kindness exhibited by staff at this location was above and beyond - especially Joe in the Grooming and Mrs Vegas. My senior hound, Molly, goes to the office with me most days. She has bladder problems and wears diapers while we are at the office. Well... this morning with next to no warning poor girl pooped her diaper and then fell back in it. We got as cleaned up as we could and then went to go buy a new bed and find a self-washing location that was open. We landed at this Petsmart, which does NOT have a self-wash station, but that didn't stop the staff from going out of their way to help. Mrs. Vegas could tell I was out of sorts when I was purchasing a new bed and asked how she could help. I explained the situation and right away she went to talk to Joe in Grooming. Their grooming department is always slammed, but Joe offered to take Molly back and get her hind quarters cleaned up. A few minutes later we were out the door and back in the office just in time for me to make an important client meeting. Thank you Joe & Mrs. Vegas. I can't tell you what a difference you made in our day. We truly appreciate you both! Molly-girl is all settled and snoozing in her new bed.

I was iffy bringing my pup here to get groomed as I've heard more negative then good about all petsmarts grooming. But I was in a bind and my boy needed a good wash and brushing. LET ME TELL YOU, I wish I would have found ALICE a long time ago!!!! She is AMAZING!!! Max looks amazing and I couldn't have been happier with not only how he was taken care of but the customer service as well! If you are thinking about bringing your pup here DO IT and ask for Alice!!!! Thank you SO much to Alice and PetSmart!

She kept us both really motivated to practice and the results were awesome. Not only am I happy, but my pup is much happier too! Now we frequently receive compliments on my pups behavior. We go for long walks without pulling or acting crazy when she sees another dog. She was jumping, nipping, not listening and destructive. My grandchildren were frighteNed by her. Now they are able to play with her and life is good! I highly recommend Lara without reservation!

Yes, Harry & Daxter are the fluffy little loves of my life, and boy oh boy, do they know it. It's not that they're bad dogs, really, it's just that they know how to get away with all the bad things that they do. Because, you know, they're cute. And while they have both gone through basic obedience and already knew how to do all the "normal" dog things like, sit, stay, and even high-five (Daxter gives excellent high-fives, FYI), a few commands does not a perfect dog make. And between the barking at every living thing (and sometimes even non-living things -- hello UPS truck) that passes by the house, Harry's penchant for eating my leftovers straight off of the coffee table, and how Daxter literally backs away from me when I say "come," it eventually got to a point where I needed to call in some professional help to turn my pups into more than just cuddly bed buddies. So thank GOODNESS for Lara and For Pup's Sake training! Under Lara's patient tutelage, my dogs now actually know how to go to their "place" before mealtime, and we're working on sending them there when folks come to the door as well. Their recall is better, they're generally more obedient, and, heck, better mannered, too! After all, a tired pup is generally a well-behaved pup, and with Lara's training these boys definitely get a mental work out. Lara comes and works with you in your home, so your dogs are learning in their environment, and gives you all the tools to continue the training when she's not there in person to guide you through it. We've worked on everything from leash-training to place-training to perfecting their patience and willpower with variations of the leave-it command I didn't even know existed. Beyond that, Lara truly cares about your dogs and wants to make sure they're set up for success from the get-go. My boys still have a bit of a way to go before they're truly the perfect pets (and I have a LONG way to go before I'm the perfect owner, hehe), but I'm so happy to have Lara and For Pup's Sake leading the way there.

These dogs are neglected stuck in crates without water. The dogs sit in feces and urine. Vaccinations are NOT required to be updated. Many dogs are coughing and showing respiratory illness. There are plenty reviews just like this, you don't have to look hard.

The "enrichment" time she claims the dogs receive is actually 10 minutes or less for each rotation. "Enrichment" being movie time, story time or having the dogs participate in limbo. She does not check or care if your pet is ill or up to date on vaccines. She will let dogs with expired vaccines continue to come in. Vaccines including rabies, distemper, parvo, and boardetella. Dogs are always sneezing and coughing and ALWAYS in very small dirty kennels. The kennels do not always get cleaned daily (which leads to the spreading of infectious diseases) and they clean the kennels by spraying with disinfectant and water then vacuuming up all of the water. They do not scrub the kennels so there is still caked on dirt/waste in every single kennel. When they do get let outside they are not always being watched regardless of what she says. She is a liar and a manipulater. She is in this field for the money and will create every excuse possible to make sure her business stays running. She is rarely even there and when she is all she does is pretend to know all the dogs that come here daily all week long!! The employees sit inside while the dogs are outside in the FREEZING cold with no shelter. Dogs have died from escaping or being choked to death by tight slip leads and the employees responsible for this still ACTIVELY WORK THERE TODAY. She will let your dogs play in group with injures and not inform you until you pick your dog up and see it for yourself. These poor animals do not deserve this treatment. If you board here please reconsider. The staff is not being paid what they are promised and fights happen all the time. All of the vents and drains are covered in mold. (Call and schedule a free tour to see for yourself) If the staff is outside with the dogs they are not aloud to kneel or sit down and pet them because it could cause fights (resource gaurding). I have worked at many kennels professionally for 3 years and this is not the way to run any facility. Your pets deserve love and basic care with transparency to the owners, not lying and cheating you out of your money. YOU ARE NOT GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I'm not reviewing out of hate but out of safety and love for these poor dogs. This is ABUSE. I'm not sure what more I can do or who to call. There are plenty of other reviews like mine right here, on yelp, facebook and on indeed. If you would like other suggestions there are plenty more loving and professional dog boarding and daycare facilities in RVA. If you don't believe me go take a tour of the whole facility, look at the ceiling vents, go in the kennel room you will see. They don't get water. How is that ok for weeks on end? If your dog is boarding they are only letting them out for water 4 times a day. If they are in daycare they only get water twice a day. If your dog is sick she won't tell you. She will make up excuses and tell you not to bring them to the vet?? 3 employees have quit in the past 24 hours bceuase of poor management, lack of communication, and mistreatment. I have already contacted the better business bureau and other resources for further investigation. If you have any information or other experiences please comment to help save these poor pups. GOD BLESS

I understand that accidents happen, but my main issue was that they knew what had happened and didn't even bother to tell me about it. Additionally, the place reeked of urine, which made me feel like the place was extremely unsanitary! If you are looking for a place to have your dog groomed, I recommend Holiday Barn. The staff there is extremely friendly, they do excellent work, and the place was spotless. I also boarded my dogs there, and if you pay a little extra your dog is kept in it's own room with a television turned to Animal Planet, which was important to me because I hated the idea of my dogs being kept in a cage.
