My review is specifically regarding the pop up adoption events ran by Cats Cradle of RVA at this PetSmart location... Pam Popkins Hall who is the co-founder of Cat's Cradle is extremely unprofessional, rude, and spreads total lies about people she interacts with when she's representing Cats Cradle of RVA. We have had a few interactions with Mrs. Hall... during all of which she was representing this organization. Each time we have been met with total unprofessionalism, outlandish assumptions she makes out of nowhere, and unfair judgement. This is our family's personal, fair, and factual account of our personal experience of the lack of professionalism, compassion, and/or care displayed by their volunteer Pam Hall. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere for your forever kitty friend. Update... Since leaving our honest review as is our right under federal law (Consumer review fairness act)... My husband and I both have gotten harassing messages & threats from this organization. read more

On Sunday April 5th I went in to do a door dash order and I noticed that the store manager sent a young lady to watch me instead of assisting. When I asked for assistance she was very dismissive and then she proceeded to go report that I wasn't stealing I guess at which point the store manager returned to his office. Profiling and discrimination are not acceptable. read more

Employees do not want to help, they want you to not bother them, so do yourself a favor and do not go in there. Lots of items saying in stock but nothing. No one's got information on products. All aquariums were contaminated with moldy sign. Asking for assistance just got an attitude from both employees. I never go this location again. Just saving time for my someone else. My time was certainly wasted. Hoping to help read more

Went to the willow lawn location to do a return ( pretty standard as I've been spending around 100- 150 a month at this location for almost 9 years. David, the manager on the weds the 26th at 9am, blatantly said he was not going to do the return as he felt it wasn't justified. Company policy stated you have 60 days and can do a full exchange, even if 3/4 of the product was used ( which it was not, half was used trying to get our cats to try different wet foods and they did not like it is all) and he blatantly stated " Im not going to do that" i had to contact his corporate office then and there and bring the phone to him at a register to let him know he could speak to them about his lack of knowledge of their policies and that he didnt make those decisions, his employer does. David is a rude, ignorant man who i wouldn't allow to sweep up after the groomers. I've been in customer service for 30 years now ( as an employee and high end manager) and regardless of job title, would of been terminated for the way he acted and handled himself. He shouldn't be allowed to operate a register there let alone manage. Do yourself a favor and go to Petco in carytown Richmond, VA folks. They are better managed and pleasant. They also know their employers policies. David also made was discussing the situation with other customers at his register while I was getting things sorted out attempting to embarrass me. Avoid this establishment and David. Garbage place, garbage manager. read more

Lovera (customer service) really made my day. I was furious when I called petsmart because my auto ship delivery was never delivered. I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for my package. I use PetSmart for everything - my dog's food, toys, treats, grooming, etc. Yesterday I got my dog groomed and paid $27 extra for the deluxe package that included a nail grind. I was inspecting her nails this morning to find they had been untouched despite adding on the package and verbally telling the employee that I wanted the nail grind. I called this morning, chose the selection for the grooming salon, was on hold for 10 mins and then the phone was picked up and hung up. I called again and again was hung up on after 10 mins. On my third attempt I asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and said I either need to come in now to have her nails done or I need a refund on my package. He informed me I could come in now to have my dog's nails "re-done". I corrected him and said they were not touched yesterday, so it's not that they need to be "re-done" but they need to be done. I then come into the store and wait another 10 mins at the front of the grooming desk before someone finally comes out. I explain the situation again and the employee says "I think we can definitely get the even shorter" to which I again corrected and said they have not been touched and I do not need to be gaslit by you all saying they have already been done. She said it would be 10-15 mins and I went to wait in my car. I was receiving a call from the store so I didn't answer and just walked in. I later listened to the voicemail and it said "get in here" from the employee. She then once again said she was able to redo them to which I got very frustrated and said I know what my dog nails look like. They were not done yesterday. She then went on to say the employee that did my dog's grooming is newer, and then went on to blame my dog that she was growling and that's why they weren't done properly. Mind you, nothing was mentioned about this when I picked up my dog yesterday. I was continually gas lit all morning by multiple members of the staff when all I wanted was to receive service I had paid for. I will absolutely never spend another dollar at PetSmart and will be taking my business elsewhere so I can have the confidence that my dog receives the service that I ask & pay for, and that I'm treated with respect. This store should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and I would not recommend anyone utilize this PetSmart location. read more

If I could give negative stars to hurt their ratings more, I would. I've been getting my dog groomed every month for years at different groomers depending on location and availability. And this by far was the WORST experience I have ever had! While hard to believe with this review, I'm not one to be hateful towards any service staff in any industry but I've been so upset by this encounter that I have to leave a review to notify any dog parents of anxious or wiggly fur babies to NEVER bring your dog here. To note, prior to the pandemic, I've taken my dog to this PetSmart for grooming and LOVED them. However, ever since the pandemic, I have had awful awful experiences. It is clear this grooming salon has and continues to go downhill. I'm not sure if it's a local store or Corporate policy but PetSmart at Libbie Mill will no longer accept any dog that is wiggly or anxious to where the groomer needs any kind of assistance at any point from another groomer. I was NOT notified of this at the time of booking nor prior to my appointment; I was only informed after I had already dropped my little 3lb Yorkie off to get groomed and told them she was anxious as an FYI. With COVID restrictions lifting, it has been extremely hard to get in with any groomer as they've been booking a month plus out and she's been in desperate need for 2-3 months now because of her small size and fast hair growth. I've been looking forward to this for quite sometime for a number of reasons and have had such a hard time finding any availability. Within an hour of drop off, I received a call that they couldn't finish her because she was so wiggly. They finished the bath and said they'd try to cut the hair from her eyes ... and just WOW. She looks absolutely awful. And now I have to go on the search again for groomer availability to fix this horrendous situation. I'm not usually picky with her haircuts - just short enough because it grows so fast. However, her hair is so choppy and looks like she has some sort of alopecia problem. It's absolutely awful. She literally fits in both my hands and is so tiny yet she's too much for one person to handle. Which again, I understand but thought that was the whole point of grooming with multiple groomers in a salon is to have assistance when necessary. I don't know many dogs that would sit there quietly and calmly. That fact that they are essentially discriminating against anxious dogs is absurd to me. This "new policy" is unacceptable and their intolerance of anxious pets breaks my heart as we nor they can always change that. Personally, we have tried but with little success when it comes to grooming. PetSmart's motto of "Where pets are family" is the biggest lie and scam as their grooming department only takes well-behaved, non-anxious pets, thus, clearly have a prejudice towards our pets that have a little more anxiety than normal. It's actually disgusting and strongly urge you to stay away if your fur baby falls into this category as well. Not only is it an inconvenience but breaks my heart as they are dogs and can't always control that. It is so unprofessional in the sense that these PetSmart groomers are leaving your dog an absolute mess and are given back worse off than when they came in. STAY AWAY! read more

When I want to stock up on pet supplies in bulk, I come here! I have two cats and the selection here is awesome! You will definitely find products your can't find at your local grocery store. The variety of canned Fancy Feast, kitty treats and other cat foods is without parallel. Cat supplies, cat toys, litter choices, grooming tools, and pets beds/climbing/scratching posts are plentiful. I also purchase my kitties' flea meds here! Feline heaven! I also love feeding the wild birds and they stock lots of seed and feeders for your fine feathered friends! And if you have pet birds, you'll be happy with aisles full of finch, parakeet, canary, cockatoo and parrot (and other bird) items! The dog section is huge for you puppy parents... check it out! And the aquariums full of fish are cool as well. Don't forget the little hamsters and other little furry creatures... as far as pet stores go, this one is pretty clean. The vivacious cashier, Vegas, is always pleasant and helpful. I have their PetSmart savings card which saves me a few bucks. Lots of parking. My only "pet peeve" is that it needs to put in a cart return, have cleaner carts and a sanitizing system. read more

Took my dog to get a Bath and brush service. Which includes a wash, dry, nail trim, and paw pad trim. I got her back without her paw pads trimmed, and had to specifically request that they do it even though it's included. They didn't mention to me when I picked her up that they didn't do it. I also had an add on teeth brushing and noticed she still had food in her teeth when I picked her up. read more

Kaitlyn was my groomer at the W. Broad St./Libby AV store located at 5515 W. Broad St. in Richmond, VA. She did an AWFUL job!! It was hard to recognize my sweet Shih Tzu after Kaitlyn got finished with her. I expected and agreed to the closely shaved cut on her body. However, I did not expect her to shave off the majority of her facial hair, including the back of her head! Yes, I expected the fur from her ears to be cut down, but what she did to my baby's face by shaving her down so low, is unforgiveable! My sweet dog looks sad and pathetic. I think Kaitlynn was in a hurry to get home. I was her last appointment of the day and she was finished by 5:45 p.m. She did a rush job, and it was very obvious. Other people have also told me that the terrier cut she gave my sweet Duffy is very unbecoming. Why does my dog look like a terrier now? The fur on the back of her head is especially chopped up! I am warning other potential customers about the chop job that Kaitlyn gave my sweet dog. read more

Repeatedly, they will take your order, take your payment, then "modify your order" because something is not in stock. Then it takes forever to get a credit back. I am getting sick and tired of Petsmart advertising coupons and then not letting you use them. I had a 20% off a single item coupon, it was applied to a $100 item in my cart, they did NOT fill the $100 item ("out of stock", even though I visited the store and there were 2 on the shelf), they took my coupon, applied it instead to a $10 item in my cart, took $15 of my treats points, and then when I told them to cancel my order because they couldn't fill it as ordered, here I sit 2 weeks later with my bank account and points accounts not credited. And, my 20% off coupon saved me a whopping $2 on an item I never even picked up. Previously, I spent $80 in here buying an aquarium kit, and when I took in the coupon for % off replacement filters which was included IN THEIR PACKAGING, the cashier told me "sorry you have to spend $100 on filters to use the coupon". It says NOTHING about that on the coupon. And--- who buys $100 worth of filters at once anyway? Petsmart is really becoming my not-so-favorite pet store, and I've spend a lot of money in here in the last 6 months. Forget them. TIP: for some reason, pricing on this app is cheaper than in store. Use it to price match their own website in store. The fact that you have to do this is ridiculous. Why charge more IN STORE? I thought retail establishments wanted us to come in person because we impulse buy when we do? I guess not. read more

I've started using online distributors for my pet-related purchase needs, but PetSmart is a good stop every so often to view items in person. This store location is a little bare bones on the surface, but they do have a solid selection of goods at decent rates. I visited a week after adopting my kitten last month, and Kat and her team were HUGE helps as I grabbed some essentials. I had trouble finding some items, and they walked around with me. I was also given a coupon book filled with promos for dogs and cats and selected a cat hammock on sale that my kitten loves. I often find him lounging on it when I get home from work. The store has a small grooming salon mostly geared toward dogs and offers training classes. It does not have a hotel. Apparently none of the stores in the Richmond area have them, which is surprising. This PetSmart is conveniently located in the Willow Lawn area, so I'm sure I'll be back at some point. read more

Wouldnt recommend going to the groomers here. My dog has been more aggressive towards other people since we brought him here. He wasn't aggressive towards people at all before we brought him here. We paid for full service and only received half done. Notified the manager kindly the next day and was hung up by her. I would definitely recommend going elsewhere for grooming. read more

The kindness exhibited by staff at this location was above and beyond - especially Joe in the Grooming and Mrs Vegas. My senior hound, Molly, goes to the office with me most days. She has bladder problems and wears diapers while we are at the office. Well... this morning with next to no warning poor girl pooped her diaper and then fell back in it. We got as cleaned up as we could and then went to go buy a new bed and find a self-washing location that was open. We landed at this Petsmart, which does NOT have a self-wash station, but that didn't stop the staff from going out of their way to help. Mrs. Vegas could tell I was out of sorts when I was purchasing a new bed and asked how she could help. I explained the situation and right away she went to talk to Joe in Grooming. Their grooming department is always slammed, but Joe offered to take Molly back and get her hind quarters cleaned up. A few minutes later we were out the door and back in the office just in time for me to make an important client meeting. Thank you Joe & Mrs. Vegas. I can't tell you what a difference you made in our day. We truly appreciate you both! Molly-girl is all settled and snoozing in her new bed. read more

I do not recommend the groomers at the PetsMart Libbie Place or Short Pump locations in Henrico, VA if you have a collie. They blocked me from booking appointments because they claim that one of my dogs can't stand for long periods. (My vet has thoroughly checked my dog and his hips/joints are fine. He just sits when you touch his butt and they aren't prepared to deal with it. PetsMart at Short Pump had 2 great groomers that were wonderful with my dogs and their quirks, but they left for better jobs a couple of years ago and it's been less than mediocre ever since.) Today, 11/28, I also got a lecture from a Short Pump groomer about how they have "undercharged" me for years. I reminded them that I have always booked the services they recommended so that they have the allotted time and fees for dealing with a collie. I have also always paid any fees tacked on for additional time without complaining. (My last grooms were $126 per dog, plus generous tips of $40 per dog. I do admit that I brought one invoice to their attention last year when they charged for 4 hours of labor, my dog had been there only 3 hours when I picked him up, and only 1 person had worked on him.) Frankly, PetsMart groomers aren't skilled at grooming collies, but they were convenient, the environment was quiet for the dogs, and my dogs were calm while being groomed. (I frequently watched them while they were being brushed.) I agree that collies are a lot of work to groom, but it's clear that they just don't want collies in the salon. They want only breeds that they can churn out fast. If you have a collie, look elsewhere. (If your dog will tolerate a noisy environment, Sitting Pretty in Stoney Point Fashion Park does an awesome job with collies!) read more

Would give zero stars if possible. I used to shop at this PetSmart location for all my dogs needs. Elsie was always sooooo helpful and would go above and beyond. Unfortunately I learned she was fired. Now when I come in it just doesn't feel the same. The older short white gentlemen is extremely rude & nasty... when I say nasty I mean nasssty... super unprofessional to the point it makes me so uncomfortable. Please take your business to another PetSmart , I would hate for anyone to have to deal with him... it's simply just not worth it. read more

Love petsmart, it's just the scammers in the back called cats cradle, they are not there to find good homes for kittens, they are there to steal your money. Her name was PAM. read more

It's a Petsmart. They don't have birds any more, which makes me sad for the birdies, but if they weren't selling, it's good that they're not just wasting away there. Typical offerings, lizards, small mammals, lots of fish and fish/cat/dog/bird/mammal stuff. They have a cat adoption center and a groomer. Great variety of pet food offerings. The high end wet dog food goes on sale here frequently. Like all Petsmarts you're allowed to bring your pet in with you. I have occasionally seen pee on the floors but it seems to be cleaned up quickly and it never stinks in there. The return policy is good. I've found that some of the folks in the fish section are very knowledgeable about the fish and others aren't so much. read more

I have an English Bully who is super friendly and lovable. When I dropped my dog off at the grooming salon to get his nails grinded, I told them that his back right paw was sensitive (not sure why). After paying for his nails I walked back to the salon and watched through the window. The person cutting his nails started with the worst foot and was pulling it backwards to grind his nails. He was wiggling excessively because the way she was stretching his leg put him in a lot of pain. They called in someone else to hold the dog down. He wasn't snappingThey couldn't even complete the service. I had to stop them. Mind you, my dog has been getting his nails grinded at Petsmart for the last 3 years and he has never been so distressed. Terrible! I will not be returning to this location at all! read more

Took my pet to be groomed by Lisa at the Per Smart off Midlothian Turnpike near Home Depot. Bentley was groomed by Lisa. Bentleys hair was choppy and uneven. They cut his hair on his body too low. This wasn't Bentleys first time there but his previous groomer Tracey left the company. She was awesome. They assured me Lisa was good like Tracey. I also showed them a picture of his previous cut to make sure they did it right and she still failed. I dropped Bentley off at 10:30am and he wasn't ready until 4:30 pm. I took my Yorkie Terrier to Libbie Ave Petsmart for grooming in late March. She entered the grooming salon friendly and playful. When I picked her up, I noticed she was edgy and anxious; and thought maybe she merely missed me. When I returned for her grooming appointment in May, she panicked like nothing I had seen before. She became terrified as soon as I opened the door to the grooming salon. I concluded that she had a bad experience in March that triggered that behavior. The groomer, not wanting to accept that my dog had a bad experience there, began asking me silly questions such as "Do you keep her caged? Maybe she is terrified that we will cage her. Do you think she may need medication to calm her?" And when the groomer picked up my dog, she struggled so hard to get away that she fell to the floor. Something happened in March that terrified my dog. I will never be able to get her to enter that grooming salon again. Nor will I ever again take her. read more

Today was my final try at Pet Smart Groomers at Willow Lawn. I took my dog in for a nail trim and they told me to come back in a half hour. When I returned they told me I needed an appointment because they did not have time to do the nail trim. This is not the first time this has happened. I am unable to make an appointment online, because there is not an option for a nail trim. Dogma in Carytown is farther away, but they have always been accommodating with walk ins and do a very good job for a reasonable price. Dogma has gained my business from now on since they are at least reliable. I would have spent less time driving there than driving back and forth to Willow Lawn needlessly. Just tell me the truth. That is all I ask. However, the Pet Smart groomers at Willow Lawn appear to be incapable of that. read more

Went here for some food for my dog. Had to bring my dog with me which I don't like to do because I have to keep up with her while I'm in the store! An employee saw I was struggling and offered to help me find what I needed. I knew where I was going but I obliged and let him load it into my cart since it was 20 lbs. what i didn't know is that he had an ulterior motive in trying to sell me obiendence classes. It was really annoying. He asked me how old my dog was, she is 4, we think, and when I told him I was not interested, he did not back off. I tried to blow him off and look at some other food, but he still was at it, trying to sell me. Really annoying. My other gripe is that there are no cart returns in the parking lot, making you need to leave your pet in the car to return the cart. My car has auto start so I could turn on the air for her, don't worry! Fix these things, and it will be better ! read more

THE BEST petsmart in RVA, hands down. The cashiers, especially Vegas, are always so friendly. Kelly always know the answers to all my questions and is completely honest and tells me if a purchase is a bad idea. Will always go to this store! read more

What I like about PetSmart is how they've introduced high end, ultra-premium, holistic and organic pet foods into their stores whereas before, you'd have to either purchase them online or in specialty boutique shops at ridiculous prices. Ever since the big food recall of several years ago (due to bad protein sourcing in China) I think a lot of consumers are starting to educate themselves about the importance of quality pet nutrition instead of just dumping whatever the cheapest kibble they can find into their pet's bowl. The store is clean, the staff is friendly and generally helpful but is it just me or are the prices just REALLY high? The food seems to be priced competitively but just about everything else is substantially marked up? Word of advice, get yourself an Amazon Prime membership (or just make a purchase greater than $25 bucks if you don't do Prime) and have the stuff shipped FREE to your door at a fraction of the price, often times in just a day or two. With that said, this is my default, "go to" store if I've run out or I need something ASAP. Keep an eye out for Pet Perks discounts (sign up for the free loyalty card). They run money saving specials all the time! read more

This is usually my go to pet store since they always have what I need...the cashier today was extremely rude. A guy in front of me in line told the cashier that a dog had an accident it one of the isles and she wouldn't stop talking about it. She asked 2 different employees to go clean it up while saying "I'm so sick and tired of dogs having accidents in here, ugh it's just gross" then my Doxie poked his head around the corner to where the cashiers stand and she told him "you can't stand here I'm going to step on you"....which that last part is fine I suppose even though most cashiers are friendly and say hey and pet him when I bring him. The thing that got me the most (besides feeling like she was scolding me because she thought my dog had the accident) when I was leaving she said "I wish people would stop bringing their animals here".....YOU WORK IN A PET STORE! read more

Always a pleasure coming here because my dog comes home clean, with a fresh hair cut, and nothing but good comments about his behavior. My favorite part is stopping by the clearance aisle. There is a PetSmart closer to me, but I keep coming back for the service and love they show my baby. read more

This is really a nice store.... The shelves are nicely fronted and the isles very cleaned. I was totally impressed with this PetSmart.

I'm very meh about this Petsmart. Yes, I can always find what I need here, it's clean, orderly, etc. The staff just doesn't give two hoots though. Maybe because I'm not bringing my pet into the store? Maybe because I'm just buying products instead of purchasing a service? Just an example: I came here recently and bought some canned cat food and cat treats. I got home and realized the cat treats I bought were three months expired. I went back the next morning to get a new bag and mentioned the expired products (almost all the cat treats they were selling had expired once I started looking) to two different employees and was met with blank looks both times. No apologies, no sense of urgency to remove said expired products. Absolutely empty, uninterested looks. I'd rather drive a little farther and go to Petco, or pay a little extra and buy food from the grocery store than deal with the zombies here. read more

We use this pet smart on a regular basis, For the last year or so our favorite employee, Elise has been so helpful and ready with recommendations, we just learned that she was let go for an altercation with our least favorite employee who is rude and can't bother to help us find what we needed or were looking for. We have seen him being rude to both staff and customers. This gentleman needs to be let go immediately. If this is how they treat good employees over a minor altercation where someone felt threatened then we will be looking for a new pet supply place. read more

The store is in a really good location, and it has wonderful selection of fish, animals, and supplies. The staff are friendly enough, but sometimes difficult to track down someone to find help. I was at the store with my daughter trying to buy fish, and it took asking someone twice and waiting more than 10 minutes before someone came to help me get two guppies. Also, the checking out process took longer, because the inventory number of fish that was hand written onto plastic bag was off by one number. On most days I wouldn't have minded, but I was in a bit of a time crunch, so I was more aware of how long each process was taking. Plus, I thought it was somewhat unprofessional cashier was eating food right before we came to the line. I don't really know how well Pet Smart treats their employees, but they should be given so they have time to drink and eat..the cashier at to clear the belt of his stuff before he could check the fish we were buying...it just felt a little off. read more

The people who work here really care about pets. I saw as many dogs in my visit as humans. They require a certificate from your vet of rabies vaccination for any type of grooming.
