The 1 Star Reviews: I can understand, having a bad experience, especially for smaller dogs that could be easily traumatized for lack of care. The staff is very young so I also understand lack of maturity in their responses. My 3 star review: The price, location, and friendliness of staff were all exceptional. The cut was better than a Petco/Petsmart haircut and way better priced, but the razor indentations, inconsistencies, and trimming most of his tail (when asked not to) marked this haircut down 2 stars. Overall, I wouldn't mark it down significantly. I believe they deserve a second chance because of the overall young age of the staff and their kindness.

She does not check or care if your pet is ill or up to date on vaccines. She will let dogs with expired vaccines continue to come in. Vaccines including rabies, distemper, parvo, and boardetella. Dogs are always sneezing and coughing and ALWAYS in very small dirty kennels. The kennels do not always get cleaned daily (which leads to the spreading of infectious diseases) and they clean the kennels by spraying with disinfectant and water then vacuuming up all of the water. They do not scrub the kennels so there is still caked on dirt/waste in every single kennel. When they do get let outside they are not always being watched regardless of what she says. She is a liar and a manipulater. She is in this field for the money and will create every excuse possible to make sure her business stays running. She is rarely even there and when she is all she does is pretend to know all the dogs that come here daily all week long!! The employees sit inside while the dogs are outside in the FREEZING cold with no shelter. Dogs have died from escaping or being choked to death by tight slip leads and the employees responsible for this still ACTIVELY WORK THERE TODAY. She will let your dogs play in group with injures and not inform you until you pick your dog up and see it for yourself. These poor animals do not deserve this treatment. If you board here please reconsider. The staff is not being paid what they are promised and fights happen all the time. All of the vents and drains are covered in mold. (Call and schedule a free tour to see for yourself) If the staff is outside with the dogs they are not aloud to kneel or sit down and pet them because it could cause fights (resource gaurding). I have worked at many kennels professionally for 3 years and this is not the way to run any facility. Over that time, we've provided them thousands of dollars in revenue, I'd estimate somewhere around $8k-$9k between daycare, baths and occasional boarding. In March of 2019, we sent our older dog in for her regular daycare appointment and requested she get a bath and her nails trimmed. When we got her home, we noticed she was licking her paw quite a bit and saw one of her nails was badly damaged, split, and beginning to ooze pus. No one at Pets at Play called or told us her nail was damaged, even though they said her nails were cut. We emailed the owner with our concerns and received a call back from an employee - to this date, the owner has never contacted us about this incident. The employee specifically told me she was calling as to not cause any confusion, but they could not get their story straight. Personally, it sounds like they didn't want a paper trail of any potential responsibility. One person said the nails were cut, then the groomer said they did not need to be cut. If the nails got cut, why did no one tell us they damaged her nail? If they did not need to get cut, that obviously means you checked them all, right? And if you saw one was damaged, why were we never told? Whatever the case, our dog went to daycare just fine, but left with a badly damaged nail which required sedation and surgery the next day to the tune of $275 in vet bills. Whether or not our dog's nails were cut, Pets at Play was negligent at best, and deceptive at worst in trying to conceal or claim ignorance of her injury sustained while in their care. Finally, to add insult to injury, I went into their online system that weekend to cancel the next two daycare reservations (because our dog needed to be at home to recover from surgery), and they had deleted all of her reservations for the next year without telling us. I never said anything to them, so why would they delete our standing reservations? It doesn't seem like a good business practice to alienate loyal customers as we have been for years. The way Pets at Play treated our dog, my wife and me is no way to treat loyal customers. We always enjoyed taking our dogs to Pets at Play for daycare and boarding, but I no longer have any faith in how they treat us or our dogs. We have not returned, will not be returning, nor can we recommend their services.

Regardless I came in walked up and said I needed to pick up my dog food, she asked can I get a last name. Usually I order my food online myself so knowing my sister bought it this time I used my last name and completely forgot she has gotten married recently and changed her last name. So when I gave her my last name the girl in the front looked at me like I'm crazy but I showed her screenshots with the order number and receipt that shows everything. She completely ignored that and asked for the last name so I just called my sister resolved it and gave her the right last name. After I said the last name she just stares at me for a second gives me a weird look and turned to look at her co worker then she kind of slowly turned around as she's hesitant to give me the dog food. When she did give me the dog food nothing was said no thank you or anything. Kind of sad I've been getting my dog food here for about half a year now and this one incident will have me look for another place to get my dog food from. Apple Dog daycare actually boards their dogs in crates between the hours of 11-1 and 4-6, which means they aren't getting exercise which is the whole point of sending them to daycare. My dog only got 18k steps from 8-6 and she gets double at other facilities for the same cost. Additionally they have dirt instead of turf like the other places I go to which is just a preference since I have a dog that easily gets hair in her fur. My dog has high energy so this model may work for a lot of other dogs who want to give their dogs breaks in between play, I just would rather send to a daycare to get the biggest bang for my buck.

So, I decided to board him while I was on vacation for 3 nights and 4 days. When I picked him up the front desk worker gave me back his dog bag and said "Uhm his blanket and toy smell really bad." After I got home, I took out his dog blanket and toy, and it REEKED off urine and was STILL WET. I had to wash the blanket and toy 5 times before ultimately throwing it away. I also noticed they took my whole bag of calming treats I packed for my pup to use during thunderstorms. I know they keep the dogs in crates at night so it made me think that my dog was sleeping in his pee for multiple nights with how badly this blanket smelt. I thought the whole interaction with the front desk person was completely unprofessional and I will not be bringing my dog back here again.
