My daughter and I visited Brugge in August, 2018 where we stayed for three days and nights. Always on the lookout for that one-of-a kind unique restaurant, we came across one of our favorites -- the restaurant Petit Maxim at Braambergstraat 4. We had dinners the first night of Salmon with white asparagus, beef stew with small white potatoes and fresh grated cheese with Ice cream and caramel beads for dessert. The chef, Danylo came out to our table to be sure that everything was to our liking (and it surely was) and made our visit that much more memorable. The service was friendly, the ambiance warm, and the food just over-the-top -- deliciously prepared and beautifully served.
We did a lot of walking and the next day passed on the same street and decided to try Petit Maxim for lunch, bypassing many other restaurants nearby. As a rule, we don't often revisit a restaurant in the same city -- trying to mix in a lot of variety. But, Petit Maxim deserved a revisit. Again, we were not disappointed. My daughter had (a huge bucket of) mussels and I had the lunch special: soup with rose petals floating amidst the toasted sesame seeds, flavorful chicken with cream sauce and fresh grated cheese, and small white potatoes. These two trips represented a variety of foods, preparations, and presentations, and they were all Five Star!
Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant. It is not to be missed -- a gem that shines brighter than the many "touristy" restaurants. read more
