I will start with, DO NOT TRUST YOUR SHOES OR HANDBAG with Pete's "Destroy your merchandise" Shoe Repair! it took 5 months to restore my Louis Vuitton bag that cost $250 for a botched bag that stitching was not straight and leather appears to be fake! the constant calling to check on the bag with one excuse after another. once I picked it up and pointed out my concerns, no apology or reduced rate due to the terrible, unprofessional job but was advised- that they are shoe repair not handbags and do not have a machine to repair bags like LV or Coach. I asked to pick my bag up during the 4th month but was told it would be fixed soon which took another month. THATS JUST ONE BAD JOB. During the same visit, I dropped 2 pair Louboutin shoes off to be resolved for protective buttons. Was told $25 per shoe. paid $50 and received a receipt for $0 balance to only pick them up to be told it's $50 more dollars! The worse part is black polish was everywhere. just sloppy work and MAGA attitude with MAGA gear and pictures of that president they support in their establishment that says, "He was right about everything!" I dropped off a pair of shoes on 02/13/2025 to get soles and heals. I called three times at end of February and beginning of March and each time they told me they should be in the next day. I finally took them back on 03/25 and they had heals and soles ripped off and no other work done. They don't repair the shoes at the cleaners/shoe repair shop in Audobon. They send them to the old, closed Pete's Repair in Runnemede. There is one person doing all shoes and she has no idea how to run a business. If you want to wait months go here. On top of that they wouldn't give my money back. Yes. You pay up front. It's a scam and a disgrace. read more

I was very skeptical about taking my coach bag to them to be repaired . I brought it to them thinking they would be a good small business to support . I dropped my hand bag off on 3/26/2026 . It states on my receipt Ready after Wednesday 4/15/2026 3:00 pm . I called on 4/15/2026 and no one bothered to answer the phone or call me back . That is poor business management. I am so angry . If you cannot provide good customer service then you should not accept any orders until you are caught up . I do know that Pete's a shoe repair also has a many contracts with other dry cleaners in the area . I just hope to god my hand bag is not destroyed or damaged because of someone's stupidity. I've been a patron since Pete was with us. The quality was high and the prices were affordable. Over the past few years things have changed. Pre-pay for services. Surcharges for debit and credit cards. Claims that my soles were too thick to be replaced. Claims that I requested half soles instead of full soles. The final strike was the t-shirts, hats and banners for the current president. I'm sorry but I can't give them my money any more. read more

I had an awful experience with Pete's - to begin, it took probably 8 weeks before I got my boots back. When I did pick up my boots, they had been butchered. I took them in for a new Vibram sole to be added, the midsole was torn up, the leather welt and vamp were cut up, and they tried to fill the cuts up with polish. They ruined a $400 pair of boots. I contacted Petes Shoe repair To have two pairs of Birkenstocks sandals resoled. The foot beds were still in very good condition and there was no cork missing. I was quoted $55 for one pair for the resole, And I was quoted $25 to move the straps from one pair to another foot bed that I brought in. I went to pick them up and the bill was $200. I explained to the gentleman that checked me out that I was quoted $55 and $25. He asked me who told me that? The average repair cost for this type of shoe for the work that I had done currently runs $55-$58. Since I'm leaving on a trip I had no choice but to pay but I'm not happy with the bill. I could've mailed them away to a company that I used to work with. Here is what they are charging ( see photo). Additionally, when I got them home I had to apply sealant to the cork. Unhappy to say the least. Buyer beware. The soles of the shoes I had repaired say "Walkbase " and not BIRKS. As a former sales person of Birkenstock shoes I know that Birkenstock makes all of their own shoes as well as all of their own repair products. Update: I reached out to Pete's shoe repair the following morning. Pete's Shoe Repair is located in Haddon Heights and has several dry cleaning places throughout southern New Jersey with which to drop the shoes off it was then that I learned that each one of these dry cleaning places can charge what they wish for the repairs. The repairs all take place in Haddon Heights. I also spoke to the store that I picked my shoes up from in Mantua And explained that I was unhappy with the non-BIRKS bottom. I was also unhappy with the lack of disclosure in prices. Customers have a right to know when they're having this type of shoe repaired whether or not they are receiving Birkenstock materials versus a replacement and the price involved. read more

I hade my boots resoled about a year and a half ago through them. They had to do a basic combination foam and rubber sole replacement. The foam used was pieced together instead of being a solid piece. It also was twice as thick which made the boot look clunky. The uppers where damaged by sander and the marks and were crudely covered up by what looked like glue and wax. The boots also squeak while walking now. To top off the slop job they cut the stitching on the upper (stitch down construction) and removed the mid sole. I must of missed it because sole is all black. So they glued everything together and hid the fact that the sole wasn't stitched back on. Removing 90% of its strength. The reason I know this is because the sole is coming off revealing all the little details of this slop job. If you have nice shoes avoid. read more

I have been trying to get my sandals fixed for years now - the soles became loose. Last week while cleaning out my closest i decided to put them in my car so the next time I am out running errands I'll add it to my list. The business is a few minutes from my job so i decided to give them a try during a lunch break. I was greated by a lady as soon as I walked in. To address some of the customer service concerns others have noted it seems like they are in a rush and a little short because it is a small business and it looks like they have a good amount of work so they are to the point but were courteous. I paid $10 to save $80 sandals. Seems like a deal to me. The service was quick and when I called before picking up they were able to confirm my shoes were ready for pick up. I've had my good brown shoes for 12 years because Pete's expertly re-soles them every time the rigors of life catch up with my foot ware. This place is terrible. I dropped 2 pair of shoes and one pair of boots off. The all needed a cleaning and polish, one needed laces in addition. Left over a week. They didn't even take care to match polish on boots, never added laces to a pair of shoes and one pair of shoes ok. In addition, the boots had some dried mud on the bottom, they never took the care to clean this mud off soles and sides of soles and never tried to fix scuffs, but polished over. Looks terrible. Also, you can't pick up shoes until after 3 pm. The owners are very pretentious, they are like the "Soup Nazis" of Cobblers. Never will I go back. read more

They refused to give me my shoes because I didn't have the receipt. They acknowledged that I was the owner of the shoes and the person who brought them in the day before, still refused to give them to me. I said I'd have to call police and report my property stolen, she said, "Fine, the police know our policy." I called the police. She went into the back room leaving the shoes on the counter. I took the shoes and left. She chased me out the door and started punching me on the sidewalk in front of the place. At 70-years-old, I don't expect to be assaulted by a shoe repair person. I was gone before police showed up; she was busy writing down my license plate number as I drove away. Pains me to give them even one star. read more

Hot mess. First time client and I never do yelp reviews but I can't with this place. First of all,don't expect anyone to wear a mask to help the spread of covid. The lady in the front wears a shield and no mask and the other 2 women don't bother then come out to scream at you(without masks) about your shoes that they have had for a week but never quite got to until you walk in the door for pick up. Dropped off my favorite boots ever to be resoled. They had a VERY damaged exploded old leather sole that I had asked to be replaced with another leather sole so I understand that it wasn't the easiest job. Upon my arrival (upon referral from a police officer friend,)the face shield lady half listens to me and takes the boots back to the other women who tell her they will do it for $65. Face shield then proceeds to ring me up for $60 and then when I try to correct her she is too lazy to change the charge and take the other $5 I was still trying to pay her. Then she tells me I can pick up my boots on Wednesday and I put my receipt away in my wallet. I was so excited to get my boots back. I showed up on Wednesday at noon bc she never told me she meant Wednesday AFTER 3. So I politely leave and kill a bunch of time in the area(I told her I didn't live close by and I'd be back). I return at 3:03 bc I waited around. The boots hadn't been touched yet and they proceeded to do a total shit job as I stood there (took about 15 minutes) and put rubber soles on the boots when I had paid for leather. They come out and I start yelling at me and that the soles were plastic and they put on what was on there. They were just old incredibly condensed leather that was totally dried out and cracked. Then I left with my sticky wet shoes that look like shit. When I tried them on they are about a full size too small because she must've taken off so much of the leather of the boot rushing to sew it back on during the couple minutes she had as I was standing there. I hope they can stretch out enough to be wearable again.My friend said that they had a good experience there but maybe they treat police officers differently than they treated me.Now I have rubber soles that I can't take anywhere else to repair because they are so much smaller now. If you love your shoes skip this place. Sorry not sorry. Do better! Or at very least keep my boots for 2 weeks and do a good job. Trust me I wouldn't have minded. read more

I brought my favorite pair of boots in to glue the sole of one that had become partially separated from the boot. I paid ahead of time, $8 to fix an expensive boot- not bad at all. I was told to bring in the receipt when picking up the fixed boot. They were pleasant and professional. I am able to wear my boots again and I have been for a while. The boot was fixed well enough that you can't tell it needed to be fixed and they cleaned it as well. read more

I wouldn't even give one star if it were an option. Dropped my boots off to get a zipper replaced and it didn't match the other boot when I picked it up. The stitching was completely different, as well as the zipper. The zipper was glued in and only partially sewn, as I was able to pull the "seam" away with my finger. Clearly a rushed job, despite them having my boot for a week. I called and explained my concern and the woman didn't even apologize or offer to make it better. She told me it would never look like the manufacturer's seam, therefore doing the other boot was the only option. Knowing that I have two feet, thus two boots, it would have been nice to tell me in advance I was going to be the proud owner of two mismatched boots. I didn't have my pick up ticket but I called ahead and had an ID, she was very nice about it. I can't imagine how these people had such a different experience. I went to pick up the items promised yesterday, that I had left over a week ago. I arrived earlier than 3pm, their pick-up time, so item wasn't ready. They told me to come back after 3:00 pm. I decided to returned today, one day later than my scheduled pick up. There were two customers ahead of me. I waited approximately 25 minutes. When I finally gave them my name to retrieve my item, they spent another ten minutes trying to find my item. They did finally locate them, but they still were Not ready! I heard the lady yelling at the employee in the back, questioning him as to why the item wasn't completed. They came out with the item about 5 minutes later. The item which was a pair of women's boots were still wet with polish. When I went to inspect them, I got shoe polish all over my fingers. This was unacceptable. This should have been completed and given ample time to dry, prior to delivery. I still have yet to take them out of the bag because I'm afraid they're still "wet." I will wait another day and check them and if they're not right or still tacky, I'm bringing them back! This is unacceptable. I have been a customer for a very long time here. That's the only reason I gave them 3 stars - For this has been my only bad experience- Otherwise it would've been 2 stars. And it could've been 4 or 5 stars had the employees apologized, instead of Making Excuses! I understand getting behind, but don't feed me a line of crap that you "Always" deliver the finished product with WET Paint / WET polish on it and Not allowing for time to dry properly. The 2 women (owners) are Nasty, horrible and incredibly rude!!!!! My husband went there yesterday to exchange a pair of boot laces that one woman told him was the correct size for the boots that he was wearing. When my husband got home and tried the laces, they were too short for his boots. The next day when he tried to return the laces, the worker at Pete's told him since they were open from the package they could not be exchanged. After several minutes of her yelling at my husband in front of customers telling him they could not be resold, she took them and violently throw them in the trash!!! I was impressed. I brought a pair of expensive lucky boots here to be repaired and I was pretty nervous since I've never had to do that before. The lady at the desk was friendly and the boots were done in 3 days.... although I picked them up a week later and they didn't seem to mind. For $12 dollars they replaced the soles and inserts. They also cleaned my boots so they look like new which I didn't ask for but they look like new after 6 yrs of wear. Now I'm determined to take care of the leather so they stay this way! read more

My wife brought her UGG boots to have a zipper replaced. They said that they only needed the one boot(not the other to match) and we figured that they know what they are doing, so we left one boot. When we received the completed job, it was totally stitched in wrong and pulling apart at the seam(where it was glued and not stitched properly) My wife called to have them make it right, but was told that they cannot stitch them to look exactly like UGG does(nice to be told after the fact). We then asked for the 25.00 refund(cost of repair), but were told to return the boot, so they can take their zipper out before they refunded us. I commented that I would, but would need the original zipper back. She said that's not possible, b/c its in the dump. I asked how much was the zipper, and the miserable woman said 4 dollars. So I said, you really are going to argue over 4 dollars and make me drive 25 minutes to take the zipper out and not give me the original back, and the miserable worker said yes.
