Particularly for breakfast. So, off I went... First of all, I should tell you that I love places like this! I love little breakfast joints, particularly with an old school diner counter! They straddle the line between "hole in the wall" and a "regular" stand alone restaurant (if that makes sense). The ambiance and feel is exactly a place I would frequent. Service was diligent and focused...maybe to a fault. Toward the end I felt a little pressure to finish and leave. But, my coffee cup was always full (Jack Reacher would be proud)! I opted for the meat lovers scramble, which came out surprisingly quickly. I was honestly a tad disappointed in the portion size, but that's the only negative thing I can say! I've been told for many years about this staple in Canton located on Tusc across from Walmart. I was really looking forward to amazing local breakfast food. During this visit, I ordered the cheeseburger soup, three egg omelet with sausage, mushrooms, and American cheese, side of home fries, and side of sausage gravy. The Pros: The sausage in the omelet was ground sausage which was delicious. Some local breakfast places use ground sausage and others cut up sausage links or sausage Pattie's. The sausage gravy was flavorful in my opinion. The cheeseburger soup was worth getting for sure. The cons: The entire omelet and the home fries tasted saturated on cooking oil. It was hard to get the after taste out of my mouth. The omelet eggs were not fluffy compared similar breakfast locations in the area. Unfortunately, the home fries were not cooked consistently and lack of flavor besides the strong oil taste. What a gem! Been there twice now for breakfast and both times we had an outstanding meal with incredibly attentive and friendly servers. Charles was our server today and even though the place was packed (a mostly older crowd which is a great sign of good food and even better value) he took care of us quickly with a smile. The coffee is okay and they constantly give you refills. The omelette has onions, peppers and ham which would have better if they were browned more. It came with toast but no hash browns. Cute diner. Good prices, great service, delicious food! The ham and bean soup was hella good! We ordered the pot roast sandwich, meatloaf special, turkey dinner and club sandwich. The food came out super fast and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our server was very nice! The food at Pete's is home cooking done right! The open faced steak sandwich was excellent and the cinnamon roll cheesecake of the day was amazing. Pumpkin pie was also worth the trip. This is a small local place, that has a pretty good selection of food any time of the day. The service and staff have been good so far. I like to order lunch items for breakfast a lot, so I am able to here. The food is good, and served fresh. The only complaint that I do have, is that the prices are a little high for what you get. I do recommend trying any time of day that they are open. They do close a little early, and even earlier on Sunday. read more

A group of us came to Canton from out of town to meet a friend at Pete's Restaurant today. A couple of arrived early 12:30 for business. We needed a table for 6. The owner was very rude and said he couldn't accommodate us until 1:00, so I asked if we had to stand and wait for half an hour, he said yes and was seating people coming after us. The owner and his son were very rude. We are a senior group of people in 70's and 80's. My friend who walks with a cane, told Pete he is being very rude. to customers and he was rude to her. Needless to say, we don't recommend this restaurant or plan on returning. The food is mediocre at best. I asked the owner to put a table beside an open booth and he said he didn't have any tables, but seated people at that booth, while we was waiting. If people wasn't coming from out of town, we would have left the establishment. The owner could have seated two of us and added the table at 1:00. Instead he seated people who arrived after us. He knew almost every patron (by name) as they entered the restaurant. the service was efficient and friendly throughout the meal. I order my "standard" go-to breakfast...over easy eggs, crisp bacon, potatoes and wheat toast. Topped it off with a cup of (endless) coffee. Used to go to this place a couple of times per month. Last visit, we got the sausage gravy over biscuits, which is usually very good. This time, the gravy was way over peppered, to the point we couldn't eat it. It was so bitter/hot, just horrible. The owner wouldn't do anything about it. Our family wanted to try a new breakfast place, so we decided to try Pete's. First walk in and are greeted at the front, they sit you (kids got crayons and kid placemat) and get your drinks. As this was a place we enjoyed dining in the past, we eagerly arrived recently for a meal. Unfortunately, the owner told us we were not permitted in the restaurant because my daughter requires a trained, medically necessary service dog. I spoke with the owner and informed him that his refusal to allow my daughter entry was a violation of federal and state law and attempted to give him a law card with the exact laws and statutes for his reference but he grabbed a washcloth and walked away from me stating that he follows the local health department that told him only seeing eye dogs are permitted. I stated that he was in violation of the law and that we would be filing a complaint. To reference, my daughter has never been denied entrance to any restaurant in this city or any other that we have visited in 7 states! If you care for the rights of Americans with Disabilities, you will not give your hard earned money to this restaurant where the owner was rude and blatantly discriminates against his most vulnerable customers!! read more
