Terrific place for gifts! I got an email from Yelp recently, telling me about places I should go visit. I saw this Chocolatier in Carrollwood and knew I needed to visit. Located on N Dale Mabry, in the same plaza as Burger 21, Peterbrook Chocolatier is open most days until 8 or 9 PM (except Sundays). This is very convenient for a busy person like myself. I rolled in around 7 last night, and was warmly greeted by Pam. I told her I was looking to get some gifts to show appreciation for some folks and she showed me the most popular items, and then gave me freedom to wander and collect. These folks cover so many things is chocolate. Potato chips, Oreos, Graham crackers, espresso beans, malt balls, raisins, gummy bears, toffee and so much more. They have a very large selection of ready to go baskets full of goodies for Valentine's Day, or you can have one custom made with treats you know your sweetheart will adore. They also have a case of beautiful chocolates you can have boxed (they have heart ones for the holiday!) and Gelato for a yummy snack. I bought a few extra things for myself, and I must say, the chocolate is delightful. I tried the dark chocolate covered candied oranges and they were fantastic. The wonderful smell of chocolate when you walk in is intriguing! They make all chocolate in house. We were greeted upon entering and the staff member was so friendly, even gave us a sample of their turtle. Which was delicious. I have looked for years for 'real Italian Gelato' in Tampa and Peterbrooke has it. I tried it this past weekend and it was exceptional, as good as what I have found in St Petersburg. They only have 5 or 6 flavors, but they are exceptional. The store is very nice and I'm sure the chocolates are great but I was focused on the creamy, rich gelato. Had a friend visit from Georgia and I told her we just had to visit this shop! The place smelt amazing inside and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. They let us sample a dark chocolate covered Oreo which was delicious. Almost picked it until I saw they had the Dubai Chocolate Strawberries which were so amazing I'm craving them even now. The chocolate there seems over priced. I went in for Dubai Chocolate. Overall, for $35 you would expect it to taste like the best you ever had and it wasn't. Needs more Kataifi. read more

My friends and I were on our way from dinner to the Straz for a show and we walked by and had time, so we went in. Glad we did! They had some great holiday chocolates (Halloween and Thanksgiving) as well as ice cream and a bunch of regular non-holiday chocolates. The most impressive thing to me was the giant hollow turkeys that they can fill with other candies. I loved that they had chocolate turkeys (like bunnies, but turkeys :)) Apparently they do similar things for other holidays and the big chocolate item can be like a centerpiece and dessert. I had never had Peterbrooke chocolates but apparently it is a brand from the east coast. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I recommend this business and expect we will be back. read more

While wandering around downtown, I stumbled upon a well lit Peterbrooke Chocolatier open late on a Saturday. The customer experience was just as sweet as the goodies they prepare. The associate had an unwavering smile as she made recommendations and showed us around explaining the care they take to prepare every treat. I'm pretty upset that I just discovered this place. My bf and I just finished dinner and happened to wander upon this amazing chocolate shop. Let me just say, the moment we walked in, it felt like a chocolate palace and the staff was so welcoming. Come to find out, it is a family business and the son was working that night. He was such a kind person and explained the history of the shop and the process they go through to make everything. Ended up grabbing some chocolate covered oreos and gelato (both were amazing). I'll definitely be back, it's 2022 and with everything going on in the world it's so refreshing to come across genuinely nice people running an honest family business. 10/10 read more

Yet one more item to add onto the "Why haven't I tried this sooner?" list! I'm a huge chocolate fanatic, so Peterbrooke has been on my radar for quite some time, so I'm glad I finally ventured out to try them. It's an easy to locate shop right smack in the middle of downtown and hard to miss, especially with the colorful blue umbrella covered tables and the pink and blue sign enticing me inside. Upon entering, I'm greeted by the sweet, heavenly aroma of chocolate being made as well as the sight of chocolate gifts on display just in time for Mother's Day (which is why I was internally kicking myself for not bringing my cooler with me to cram the chocolates in, but I guess that'll have to wait for the next visit). The workers there warmly welcome me and Muffin (by the way, dogs ARE allowed inside, but please out of courtesy, be sure to ask each time. Mine was in a stroller, and of course, I didn't let her anywhere near the chocolate) to the store. It was incredibly hot outside, so the first thing my eyes land on (after the chocolate display) was the wheel of gelato. The nice lady let me sample a few, and after a few small, yet satisfying tastings, I made my selection of Salted Caramel, Stracciatella (which is basically chocolate chip), and Pistachio all in one cup. All the flavors came together quite well with their different notes and sweetness and the smooth, creamy texture to cool me off immediately. Of course, because it's a chocolate shop, I'm not leaving without getting my hands on some chocolates. Their chocolate case has a modest but varied assortment of fresh truffles and creams. I went with a few caramels, chocolate creams, and a beer infused chocolate (because booze and desserts are MADE for each other) and practically inhaled all the pieces before finally going on my way. After getting a good look at what else the store has to offer, I know what I'll have to stock up on with my trusty cooler on the next visit. read more

Needing to be cooled off after coming from The Glazer Museum and Curtis Hixon Park we walked in for some ice cream. This place was bright, fresh and smelled amazing! We were greeted by Alex who offered us samples of ice cream and then wine! He was super nice to our family and we had a way better time than I was expecting. I became aware of Peterbrooke through the Too Good To Go app. I ordered a surprise bag because I think it's a cool, low cost, low risk way to try something new. I will say, it would probably do better for the store's marketing and advertising to have a sign that is more easily noticeable from the street. I was standing directly in front of the store for quite some time staring in confusion because GPS said i had arrived, but I didn't see it. It looks like an eclectic knick knack store that sells ice cream from the outside view of those terrible dirty windows. When u walk inside, there is a overwhelming chocolate smell that tells you the chocolate is likely made in house. They have all these cool options for treats that you can gift and use as party center pieces. The fall themed turkeys and smash balls with a mallet were my favorite. Dark chocolate covered almonds are what was in my surprise bag. The dark chocolate is delicious and doesn't have the bitter taste often associated with dark chocolate and the almonds are so soft, I almost thought I was biting into peanuts until I removed the chocolate to see with my own eyes lol. read more

If your down with the lingo you know sometimes you winsome sometimes you losesome but here for Easter basket filling, we def won! As many Tampanians, I saw this on the news, a handmade chocolate bunny, so what? But then.....you crack this creamy chocolate shell and it is FILLED, I mean FILLED with popcorn tossed in chocolate. I called ahead and was able to secure the last 2 eggs! Win win! I also tried the peanut butter filled floppy ear bunny, the peanut butter was smooth. But folks the choc here is really tasty. I really wanted to like this place. I was welcomed warmly by the staff and their cute and eye-catching display of their products. Everything looked beautiful but unfortunately their products in taste did not deliver. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate covered caramel popcorn. They were stale, hard to chew and all got stuck to my teeth. I had other people try the item and we all agreed it was inedible. I tossed the whole bag....a small bag of stale popcorn priced over $10. I also purchased a few truffle chocolate pieces and they were just okay. One of them....chocolate covered marshmallow was also stale. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed was their Gelato. The Gelato did meet the fair pricing and taste. Everything else was overpriced and simply not good.....I felt like I just tossed $20 bill into a toilet and flushed it. I added a star for their excellent customer service. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. And that's why I really wish their products were better, at least not stale products were sold. This is a great place for a sweet treat. They have hand crafted chocolates, chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate covered popcorn, and gelato. They also make a mean espresso, if you need something to cut the sweet. My kids loved the spinning gelato display, and they really enjoyed their gelato (I didn't try it, so I cannot comment). I had a piece of sea salt dark chocolate caramel and an espresso. It was an awesome dessert. There is outdoor seating, which is very pleasant on a post-storm summer evening. read more

My oldest son, his GF and I made our first trip out to Peterbrooke Chocolatier, in Downtown Tampa, tonight. We had arranged to check out the newest Tampa chocolate shop and pick up a few goodie for an event I'm hosting! Of course that means several bags of their infamous chocolate covered popcorn!!! The heavenly smell of chocolate beckons to you as you enter the front door. But not over powering! Then you're visually greeted with the bright and colorful shelves full of meticulously arranged chocolates. They definitely have plenty of unique treats like bacon peanut bars and spicy chilly nut bars! There was a cool rotating display of assorted gelatos. They had several football (for Super Bowl Sunday) assortments including a large chocolate football full of chocolate covered popcorn! Tampa Bay sports teams are well represented here, Rays, Bucs, Lightning chocolate treats galore!! And let me. It forget the all important candy holiday coming soon, Valentines Day! Peterbrooke had shelves full of artful chocolate boxes, baskets and even cocoa bombs! Yes they have assorted cocoa bombs!!! It appeared most treats came in milk, dark and white chocolate. We purchased a few assorted chocolates from the case, a vegan chocolate bar, a hand dipped chocolate covered strawberry (that was hard to resist in the drive home but was the first thing I ate when I got in!), chocolate covered Oreos, pistachio chocolate bar and a Valentine heart shaped cocoa bomb. Let me start by saying I should have taken pics inside but there are already plenty to view. I was at Riverwalk as my Son was proposing to his girlfriend that night. On the way back to the car we were walking past and the amount of chocolate I could see through the window drew me inside. The 2 ladies (I should have gotten their names) were so pleasant and welcoming. I'm a sucker for a good truffle so i ordered a box with pieces of my choosing. I got the Chocolate Mint Meltaway, a Black & Tan, Sea Salt Caramel, Peanut Butter Meltaway, Chocolate Caramellow, a Red Heart with Vanilla Cream and 2 White Chocolate Strawberry Balsamic. Separate from my beautiful gift box I added 2 Cocoa Coated Chocolate Rum as well (not in the counter display because they have to keep refrigerated but you can always ask). Also got a Chocolate Dipped Jumbo Marshmallow for my wife and a Salted Caramel Gelato on a house made waffle cone for my Daughter. It was all beautiful and delicious. I got 2 different desserts from here, the first being their cookies and cream gelato. Let me tell you, this is the BEST cookies and cream gelato that I have ever had. It was so creamy and had a lot of Oreo pieces in it. The price was very reasonable too! The second thing I had was their chocolate-covered potato chips. So so good, the combination of sweet chocolate with salty chips is amazing and the ratio between them was perfect. Along with this, their customer service is beyond exceptional! read more

I had seen this store's account on IG. I didn't even realize they were Downtown until I was walking by this afternoon. We were meeting friends so we walked in to say hello, then came back after our meal to get some goodies. If I had all the dollars and the room in my belly for all the chocolate treats, I would have left with one of everything. I love gelato too so I went with that. I got half tiramisu and half hazelnut. My daughter got a gelato dipped cone with strawberry cheesecake gelato. It was all yum!! My friend got the mango sorbet and said it was delicious. Next time I will definitely get some of the chocolate treats. Their prices weren't too bad either. Great place to get holiday gifts for others. This shop is definitely somewhere fun to go into during an outting through Downtown. The owner was there and she was super sweet. In the store and online it says we get to pick our strawberries but we were unable to do that. We said that we did not want milk chocolate on our white chocolate strawberries but she drizzled it on anyways. And she could tell that we were unhappy with it. Being all about service, my husband and I were in town and enjoyed a lovely dinner and then drove 3 miles to go for chocolates for ourselves and gifts at Peterbrooke. I asked if I may use the restroom prior to making my purchase. The young worker the asked the manager/owner? if that would be OK I was told no because they had already cleaned the restroom. It was 35 minutes prior to closing. We had parked at the front door and clearly were coming in to shop that evening. We left, and do not intend to return under any circumstances. One of my favorite sweet spots in Tampa! So many different delicious dessert options ranging from bite size to huge chocolate treats filled with popcorn! They have gelato and even treats for your pups! And they have wine and chocolate pairing classes that are delicious and informational. This new chocolate shop in downtown is a gem. I have always loved chocolate shops. In NY I used to go to many. Recently my sugar came back high so I was looking for sugar free chocolate and the one here was so delicious. And if you order ahead they can do anything in sugar free. But don't let that take away from their regular chocolate. Bought my wife some chocolate covered strawberries that were the best I've ever had. Everything we bought was exceptional. Had a delightful stop in for my first visit today! Everyone who works there was so friendly & kind enough to give us all sorts of samples!
