Dr Robbins could not have come into our lives at a better time. My husband and I discovered him several months ago at a time when we were ready to walk away from our marriage. For years we had been struggling with anger issues and learning how to communicate with each other. When it comes to counseling, for some reason in our culture today this sounds like something negative. I've seen counselors before in past years and to be honest usually had a pit in my stomach as I entered the office. These visits were short lived. I've only seen Dr. Robbins for a short time, and I have to say the first time my husband and I went, I did have a pit in my stomach and was tense about the cost of the session. After our first session, this feeling quickly passed. I was given hope during that session. He listened, he shared his life experiences and he provided guidance. Now when we go, I don't really ever have an agenda but as soon as we sit down it just flows. He fights for marriages, family and doesn't pass blame. He talks in a calm soft voice and uses analogies that bring life to what he is trying to say. When I was looking for someone to talk to, I was stressed because really, who do you trust? Do they love what they do? Do they have a family? Kids? Do they believe in God and are taking action daily to be a child of God? Do they lead by example? Dr. Robbins is wonderful. He really helped me and my husband get on the same page in so many areas that we were struggling with. We are so grateful for the ways Dr Robbins helped us save our marriage. We have gone to numerous couple's counselors, over the years and seriously worked hard to resolve our issues, but no other therapist gave us the practical tools to apply to our lives the way Dr Robbins did. We knew from our very first session that he approached things differently. Before we started with Dr Robbins, we were seeing another well qualified psychologist, yet we were not making progress. The other counselor said he saw so much hope in us and our marriage but we needed to feel the hope ourselves. We were living in the same house, and basically separated, but still plugging along because we to wanted to make our marriage of over 35 years work. Even though our children were grown (with children of their own) we really wanted to see our family intact. Very few people knew we were even struggling at all in our marriage, let alone on the verge of separation. Our pastor and his wife knew and were praying for us. We kept so much to ourselves through the years, which I don't recommend. When things continued to escalate to the point that we decided to physically separate, even though we kept going to our sessions (with the other therapist), we started looking for another counselor just to give it one final shot. Through my research I found Dr Robbins. At the same time, my husband found Dr Robbins through Focus on the Family. When we discovered that we both came up with the same person, we knew it was God leading us and we made our first appointment for July 16, 2021. The day before our appointment, we sat down and talked. Things did not go well so we, for the second time, decided to separate. We considered canceling our appointment but figured it was too late of notice and knew we would have to pay for our time even if we did not show up. So, we went to our first session with no hope but because we had already paid for it and we felt it was a better use of our money (which we didn't have a lot of) to go than to not. We really connected with Dr Robbins during our first appointment and decided he was worth going back to for a least a couple more sessions. We continued to go because, for the first time in years, we started being hopeful of achieving the marriage God intended for us. Dr Robbins listened to each of us and we listened to his words of experience and wisdom. We followed his recommendations, which were realistic and achievable for where we were at each step of the way. He kept us accountable to our goal of having a God-honoring marriage in which both of our needs were being met. My husband and I have done a tremendous amount of hard work over the last 7 months. We have made so much headway in our relationship and we are communicating like never before. My husband and I have been married for seven years and they've been seven good years overall but recently we hit a few topics in our marriage that we wanted to work through with a counselor. Dr. Robbins was an excellent choice - he cut straight to our main concerns, focused us on working through those and gave us foundational principles on marriage for the future. He definitely has a results driven approach and in just three sessions we were able to completely work through the items we needed to and we're back on a great track. As a couple that have been married for 8 years, our daily communication is going on a downward spiral lately and we both agree to seek some professional opinions and advices . My husband decided to go with Dr. Robbins after reading all the positive reviews online. I was quite reluctant at the beginning cause I'm leaning more towards a female therapist. I remember we both were pure silent during the entire 30mins ride to our first session. It was awful. Anyways, His office is simple, functional and comfortable. You don't see much of the artificial settings like some other places, which is great. And the very first session went so well which was way beyond my expectation. Dr. Robbins is so good! My husband and I were in a very bad spot already trying to figure how to divorce and move forward when finally my husband agreed to do counseling. I knew I only had one shot to make sure that my husband liked our therapist if not he wouldn't go back. I saw that he had experience with veterans and police officers. I also wanted to make sure his council was Biblically based with out over doing it and turning my husband off to the idea. I chose him and thank God I did.
