Dr. Robbins was a fantastic couples therapist. Really provided sound active listening and conflict resolution tools that could be used in real life. Nothing nebulous or overtly complicated. Provided very neutral feedback utilizing faith based lessons. You're going to both go in hurt and feeling lost. He doesn't take sides like a lot of less experienced therapists do but he is honest and gentle in his feedback. If you really want to learn proper conflict resolution or about tools that will help you steer conflict to a more amicable place, I highly recommend Dr. Robbins. Life is not perfect and neither are any of us. Learning to love each other with faith based teachings has provided my wife and I with a tremendous path forward. Began with TP last January to do some family therapy with one of our kids . Was NOT happy! After spending almost $6000 with Diana, our counselor,, we never had a family session at all. One year later we have never discussed anything with the child we needed to address issues with even after asking Diana multiple times for a family session. Instead she did 1:1 sessions with our child who according to Diana was not comfortable talking to us. Isn't that why we turned to family therapy??? My husband and I agreed on giving it 1 year of therapy for our child in hopes and expectation we would be in a family session soon. Apparently I let this go on to long. We made multiple attempts to meet as a group with Diana. To no avail. She would not schedule anything and simply said our child didn't want to. Funny, taking our money to do what our child wants seemed perfectly fine. Our child informed us she would not like to continue with Diana as she has not found it very helpful. $6000 later..., WHAT?? We are still in the exact same place we were with this kid 1 year ago. I expected more from this group, more specifically from Diana Padre. We will have to look elsewhere. I recently interned for these Doctors in the spring of 2017. They were very helpful and caring. They allowed me to ask questions about what they did and how they worked with their clients. They pick a great group of therapists that are all passionate and driven in the field. As an intern, the Doctor's questioned me about life after college and explored PhD options with me in the MFT field, which I greatly appreciate. Finally have a chance to sit down and start typing. My wife and I were married for 13 or so years. As her church life got busy and I started to seek things to do while occupying my time. We basically grew apart. We were physically living together but our mind and hearts were far from together. We had many disagreements and fights. Finally she started to reach out for external help. We did her homework and found Dr. Peter Robbins. Like all males, I initially disagree to seek counseling. However, I love her and I did it for her. I knew that was important to her. So we went. During the first impression, Dr. Robbins was friendly and unbiased with an open heart and ears. He was not on either side of the fight but on the side of marriage. His goal was to understand and save the marriage. Initially, my thinking was. Oh no, he will be on my wife's side and team up and point out of my weaknesses and faults. However, to my surprise. He agreed on more of my position than expected. That made me felt good about my marriage and myself. Sometimes, my wife can be difficult and her opinion is one sided. Hearing from the expert, I really felt great about myself. We seek about 7-8 sessions. The price of the sessions were not cheap by any mean but it was well worth it. We were seeking the best counselor for our marriage not the cheapest counselor for our marriage. You should never put a price on marriage. Marriage is priceless. The price we paid to Dr. Robbins was so small compare to my family and my marriage. I can truly say that Dr. Robbins saved our marriage. It also open up my wife's view on marriage and our role as a husband and wife. During the beginning and end of each session we prayed and asked God for guidance and how to glorified HIM via our marriage. Each session is about 55 minutes long and Dr. Robbins made me felt comfortable expressing my anger, my disappointment and so on. He made me felt free and comfortable to talk about taboo marriage topics. I want to thank Dr. Robbins for his help and I have no reservation of recommending my friends to him and his staff.
