Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Shin has been amazing. I had been in the market for medical insurance through Covered CA but the cheapest one I could…read morefind, that also allowed me to go to the doctors I had been going to for years, was a bit expensive. I decided to look into other options and did a search for places I could pay out of pocket. When I lived in Mexico, I had been using the services at a local hospital, paying a monthly membership fee for their services so imagine my surprise when I found out that the exact same system existed here. That was when I found Dr. Marisse so I booked an appointment. I found her originally on Zocdoc and the nearest appointment was in a month and a half. Within a day of making the appointment, I was called by the office to Nurse Shawna who wanted to make sure that I knew that all appointments needed a preliminary chat with the Doc, after which I could book my appointment. thanked me for letting her know that the next available appointment was that far away. It turned out there was a mix-up and that she did have more immediate appointments available. There is plenty of parking, as it is in shared parking lot with other businesses. However, there are two buildings with the same building number but with different locale numbers. Upper Echelon is in the building nearest to the AAA and the Farmer Boys. At the appointment, everything was clearly explained and we went over a sort of plan of attack, with regards to my concerns and what I needed to do. I appreciated paying less per month for the membership, which includes as many appointments as you want. The lab work and the tests are at wholesale prices so even with the membership fee and registration, all of this was cheaper than the plan I was going to get with insurance. What I appreciated was the quickness of getting an appointment. I have always hated waiting a few weeks, as a new patient, before actually being seen but I was able to book this within a week of the appointment. It was a week because their availability interfered with my work hours. Otherwise, I would have been seen earlier. All in all, it is pretty convenient and a wallet-friendly option. After that first appointment and the lab results came in, Dr. Marisse wrote a VERY long email detailing every point of concern. Which I appreciated because I went for answers and I was getting them. If you need a straightforward person to tell you what you need to be doing and not someone who has to be on your ass every step of the way, this is the ideal option. I would say the ONLY con is that they do not have appointments during the weekends. And since I work during the week, I have to take time off to go to an appointment.

I wanted to give an update on my situation for the Anaheim hills location…read more I still don't appreciate the treatment I received from both psychiatrist Jennifer Java, office manager Hannah, and male employee (unknown name). Me having to wait 2 months after I issued a complaint and asked to be switched psychiatrist is unacceptable. I still haven't heard back from office manager(grievance) for my complaint. I the patient should have a say of who I wanted to be treated by and if situation arises. I the patient should have my needs met and not be treated as an enemy . If I don't advocate for myself then who will. I'm still giving this facility a low rating because I only was able to switch psychiatrist because I wrote a review through yelp. Yes I love my new psychiatrist Jenna Vo but the faculty n facility in Anaheim hills need to work better for their patients and not for themselves. There is a reason to why they already have a low rating from many patients. I just hope that they do make a change to their practices n procedures.

I apparently made a mistake in mentioning I was in need of medication (that's what psychiatrists do?) because he literally said "Yeeeeah, I can't help you. Sorry. Good luck." and hung up on me.
