I booked a ticket on Peter Pan's website for Hartford to NYC, roundtrip. There were no issues with this trip. About a month later, I booked a ticket on Peter Pan's website for Hartford to Boston, roundtrip. I arrived at the bus station for the 6:30am departure and found they overbooked the bus by at least 15 people. The customer service at the station was absolutely ridiculous blaming everybody but themselves. I am almost a month from the trip and have yet to receive reimbursement. Peter Pan continues to wipe their hands of it and states their issue is solved and has passed me onto Greyhound. Apparently Peter Pan and Greyhounds system's do not match which result in the overbooking. In looking at prior reviews, this seems to be a reoccurring issue. These two companies need to get their systems matching if they want to continue operating. The group I was in was fortunate enough to be able to rent a car. We split the rental fee which ended up being just under what it cost us for the bus. In the future, a car rental is what I would do since it is apparent there is no reliability with Peter Pan/Greyhound. read more

I will be using Megabus from now on whenever I want to take a trip from Hartford to NYC. Tonight I had a trip from Hartford to NYC scheduled to leave Union Station at 6 pm, with a switch of buses in Waterbury at 6:45 pm and ending up in NYC at 8:45 pm. I arrived at Union Station at 5:15 pm and began waiting in line outside in the freezing cold at 5:30 pm. The bus was already there and we could all see the driver inside the bus. THE DRIVER SAT INSIDE THE BUS ON HIS CELL PHONE WHILE WE FROZE OUTSIDE UNTIL 6:30! He completely ignored us. I seriously thought there was going to be a riot by the other customers. When the driver finally decided to let us on board, he moved like molasses and made absolutely no mention of the fact that we were all 30 mins. late. No explanation why he felt like sitting inside the bus. And no comment about what happens to our 6:45 pm connection in Waterbury. We finally got to Waterbury at 7:30 pm where, thankfully, our connection was waiting. This is the only reason Peter Pan gets a star at all. read more

on time majority of the time. drivers generally nice, courteous. buses pretty clean. very few crazy passengers wish they weren't a monopoly, so they had some more pressure to adjust, improve. gripes for now: -"you can buy tickets online" - bs. yes you can buy them for a surcharge. almost $2 per ticket. i'll stick with buying them in person -"we no longer accept riders buying tickets at the destination bus station" - people only did this because they the origin bus station ticket counter hours were too short. if a bus comes by, but the ticket counter closes 3 hours earlier, there's needs to be a more practical answer. -"we no longer want people using tickets on differing dates" - this also directly makes the previous ruler even harder. for as long as I've rode on the bus, i could use any ticket almost any time, as long as the origin and destinations were correct. now i need to plan my bus tickets as though i'm taking an airplane flight? ridiculous. the bus system is limited enough, making it more rigid is just going to turn more people off from it. -"the website schedules aren't accurate" - why even bother to post schedules for buses online if they're not always going to be accurate? just don't even put them online. read more

This bus company is HORRIBLE. When I bought my round trip tickets online in order to get to NYC from Umass Amherst the company withdrew the money from my debt account but did not send the conformation email nor my tickets to print. When I realized I called costumer service and they told me they would send it before my bus was ready for departure. Costumer service ended up not sending the email and I was stuck with no ticket in Springfield Mass. I told the bus driver about this and they tried to help me get on a bus. The driver I was finally sent to for NYC express said he did not want to hear my sob story but allowed me on the bus hesitantly. I called my mother to inform her as to what just happened to me and the bus driver raised his voice at me telling me to get off of the phone or find another seat in the full to capacity bus. He then said I knew I should not have let you on this bus in an angry tone. This was the worst bus experience I've ever had. I paid for the tickets, did not receive them and later harassed for talking quietly on the phone. Do not pay for this bus ticket. It's a waste of your money and the bus drivers are nasty. read more

For years I used this bus line as a child with my parents from Cape Cod to Logan for our yearly flights to Ireland. Back then the service was amazing, since then the company has gone significantly down hill and am extremely disappointed in their service . On Aug 2nd I had a ticket for departure in Holyoke ,MA at 3:40 pm to Wareham , MA. The round trip ticket of 45$ had 2 connections from Holyoke to Springfield, Springfield to Boston and Boston to Wareham. I arrived at the Holyoke area 25 min before my bus was set to depart. 40 min went by an no sign of the bus.. My connection was leaving Springfield for Boston at 4:15 so I called the bus line to see where the bus was. The women I spoke to told me it was running 10 min late, 5 min went by and the bus drove around the park, I flagged it down and instead of stopping he continued on his route. Not even pausing at the bus stop. My friend and I waited to see if the bus would turn back around and it didn't. I had to call the bus line and explain the situation. The women (Lee) told me the bus would not hold and that was going to leave at 4:15. I hung up called again and a nice man asked them to hold the bus for 4:15 because I needed my friend to drive me from Holyoke to Springfield terminal. Once arriving at Springfield the driver was rude and angry that I had been late, telling me I " should have flagged down the driver," I got to my seat only to find out that it was covered in trash and a sticky substance. I changed seats and got comfy. The driver told me we wouldn't get into Boston until 7:15 with the traffic.. My connection to Wareham left at 7pm... What a mess... Super disappointed and immensely heightened my anxiety. read more

The Peter Pan bus company should only be taken out of necessity. I would never recommend using them unless it really is a last ditch effort. On one trip, I had to disrupt a young male who was forcing himself upon a woman. He threatened me and the woman afterwards. The driver and other passengers did not seem to care although there were only about 7 people on the bus. The WiFi absolutely never works (maybe I've just gotten unlucky 100% of the time though). The review below me is absolutely wrong. The ticket prices are cheap and the client based is absolutely reflective of that. The customer service is about the worst it could be..no refunds and they charge you $20 to change the date of travel. Even Amtrak allows you to change your ticket for free, and they're absurdly expensive. The best buses to use are bolt bus or megabus. Bolt bus is for the young professional and hipster age and it's often cheaper than Peter Pan (even though it's a subsidiary of Peter Pan and Greyhound). The bus drivers are usually rude. One of them pulled over on the side of the highway for 15 minutes because he was on his cell phone. More often than not, it's worth it to just spend extra on Amtrak so you don't have to experience the nightmare that is Peter Pan read more

I scheduled a ride from Amherst, UMass to Boston with Peter Pan. It was supposed to arrive at 6:45am. When it hasn't come for over an hour and the customer service opened to call, I was informed that my original bus driver had had an issue and that another bus was being sent, which didn't arrive until 8:30. I had a flight to catch, so this experience was stressful and I was unsure that I would make my plane! When the new bus arrived at the bus station and I pointed out that I was supposed to have been taken directly to the airport they told me that they couldn't get me there in time to catch my plane and essentially, "sorry." So instead, I had to walk to the central station and catch the silver line with two huge bags I could barely navigate on my own and spend even more time and money trying to get to my terminal. In the future, please get a system in place that allows for less delay in these situations! I waited almost 2 hours for a bus to show up! read more

Don't choose Peter Pan. The Good: Overall, there are clean buses and safe drivers. They have a very convenient array of bus-stops on the map. They usually have multiple buses running one route in the same day. All this is good, but honestly, this ought to be the base line, and I would expect no less. Also, sometimes there are outlets and "free" wi-fi, BUT some of the outlets don't work, and often the wi-fi either won't actually access the internet or is too slow to be useful. The Bad: They plan very poorly. They change bus schedules without notice, when they should have known ahead of time and should have been prepared for the number of passengers on a route. I was once in transit for 6 hours, thanks to faulty/switched connections and traffic, on a trip that takes less than 2 hours by car. Late, unpredictable, and poorly managed. The Ugly: On my most recent trip, I purchased a ticket online for the last bus (8pm) from Boston to Northampton. It was the end of thanksgiving break. There were over 150 people in line for that bus. I was lucky enough to be near the front of that line. They had to call two extra buses, and changed the trips destination to "College Express," which passengers took to mean Amherst College, UMass Amherst, and Smith College. I waited 30 minutes for the second bus (they filled one entire bus with E-reserve tickets). When we got to UMass, the driver told the remaining 6 passengers that we had to get off here, because this was his last stop. My ticket was for Northampton, but I was stranded at UMass, in the middle of the night. A few things: Peter Pan Bus Company should be aware that statistically, many students travel on thanksgiving and other holidays. They should know exactly how many tickets have been purchased online at least an hour before a bus' departure. They should either send for an extra bus way ahead of time, or they should not sell more tickets than seats. Lastly, if they allow a passenger to board a bus with an express ticket naming a specific destination, they are legally required, barring horrific accidents or other safety concerns, to deliver that passenger to their destination. Someone needs to overhaul their system. If only transportation consumers had another option, and could show Peter Pan Bus Co what they need to improve. I am outraged by the contrast of "e Ticketing". On lite rail and Amtrak, these tickets (e) load on your device even as you are pulling out of the station and get this The Conductor scans it electronically or has decoding capabilities as he bends to look at the passengers personal screen.... to see that your ticket is Valid by looking at a set of numbers...ON Peter Pan however, it is absolutely shameful, and sad to have 2 ticket prices, indeed one might understand a few dollars but their e tickets are half, HALF, of the counter price these tickets can only be purchased before a 2 hour departure window. and I was told by a peter pan. rep that there is indeed a fee if you miss your bus! but that's not the worst part.. Its our friend the home office printer, Yah some of you are fortunate enough to have a portable..or the latest state of the art...PRINTER, but the average rider is out of toner or their printer just doesnt work.. ect. no! we are passengers on the go! travellers and business people trying to earn a living... and who really don't pack a printer in there attaché' - Or for those of us who are poor, or not sure of the station floor plan...or where their gate is..The chance of missing one of those tiny departure windows is too great..Why? to keep out the Riff RAF? to make us good passengers suffer? to cause bitterness and anger?, or maybe to prevent to Manny people contending for not enough seats? regardless, get with the times and allow me to purchase my e-Ticket 'on my pocket computer (smartphone/tablet)as the BUS is pulling in!! Peter Pan Bus is Just great at being a Bus... but the ticketing system is truly whacked... you must have a printed hard copy to board! but its half price.. what if e ticket customers who have no complaints at paying $20 for a $40 ticket should pay more for the convenience of not waiting in a long line to buy a REAL ticket at the window, while the folks in line having only a short time to make a connection while juggling a first cup, or like in my case the urgent need to travel with out time to plan better.. should pay less for the level of aggravation and greedy money grabbing-guess in our day and age, the customer is always wrong..have a nice trip! read more

Good bus but it would nice if it had cup holders that actually held cups so you didn't have to have people's coffee all over the place. They even made stops for drinks and yet we had a little hole that didn't fit anyone's cups. read more
