Had bought a ticket for a Peter Pan night bus from Philly to New York that ended up an extremely frustrating experience. Of course, I can understand it arriving about 15 minutes late due to traffic or whatever, but then everyone had to wait in line outdoors next to the bus for an additional 35 minutes to board without any explanation! The two Peter Pan team members just kept staring at their phones, while we all stood in line. Eventually, one of my fellow pending passengers demanded an explanation on all our behalf. The guys told there was a "glitch" not enabling them to read our tickets. (To add, of course Peter Pan has no human Customer Service available after latest 4 PM... and that's only Thursday and Friday... other days that closes as early as 2 PM.) Seriously? Peter Pan hasn't organized a backup protocol when the system isn't functioning? Would seem also apparently no 24 hour effective system support for their staff! Hey, Peter A. Picknelly III at Peter Pan! Are you OK having customers just standing around, waiting, and being later? Grow up Peter Pan! Your team members need suspenders to go with their seat belts! We ended up arriving 35 minutes late. Think, if I chose traveling long distance on a bus, I'm likely to think twice before booking with you again to minimize the chance of a similar snafu. read more

Yes, it was December 23rd and the 6PM bus from Port Authority to Philly was oversold. Drama! I got on a long line at 520 and scored my window seat but we didn't take off at 6 PM because there were more customers than seats. A desperate guy begged for a seat, no dice. He grabbed one, the driver had to call the cops, not his fault! The man was removed in tears! I was ready to give up my seat butt instead chatted with my seatmate, a lovely entertainer and we nodded off as the bus bobbed along. Was it worth $25? Sure thing. read more

Last minute business trip up to NYC from Philly. Time to be creative - I used to just shoot over on a quick 10 minute drive to Mt. Laurel and take the Greyhound from there to Port Authority, but now the bus station moved farther north by another 20 minutes. This time I thought I'd try leaving from Philly. I took the PATCO train to 9th and Market and walked 1.5 blocks to the 6th and Market pick up spot - so easy! (FYI - this was the final week at this location - it has since moved to another location in the city that is no longer convenient for PATCO users). It was a little nerve wracking that the bus was a few minutes late, but the driver made up the time and we arrived in the city right on time. The driver was nice and I didn't use the restroom on board. I learned my lesson a long time ago to NOT depend on any transportation for a power source, so I brought my own power bank. Therefore I can't vouch for any kind of electrical / USB source. Overall not a bad option, but since now the new bus location is a lot more inconvenient for NJ people, I won't be using it in the future. read more

By far the WORST of all the big bus transportation companies. I've had two separate incidents where the bus I bought a ticket for straight up did not show up/was ridiculously early and left ahead of schedule, stranding myself and several other passengers. I was willing to let those go, but my trip from Philly-NYC yesterday takes the cake for the WORST bus experience I've ever had. Bus comes 15 minutes late (no way to track the busses to see if their on schedule) and when we get on and leave, we realize the bus has NO AIR CONDITIONING. It was 85 degrees out and the bus was significantly hotter. Packed bus for 2 hours and 0 A/C should be illegal, let alone PAYING $27 per ticket to be locked in a sauna. Will be staying away from the company and advising everyone I know to do the same. Unacceptable business practices. read more

Definitely a notch above SEPTA for reliability, comfort, convenience, and driver courtesy. The one-star reviews came from passengers who did not follow the clearly disclosed rules (read between the lines). Any delays were usually caused by traffic jams. The buses were clean and well-maintained. Buses are not as safe as trains or planes but safer than driving yourself, going by actual statistics. read more

My first time taking Peter Pan Bus Lines was challenging. I was able to get a ticket last minute due to circumstances beyond my control, I am grateful for that. However, the customer service in multiple aspects was not where it needed to be. I was challenged with getting my questions answered and I thought I was working with the appropriate staff members in place. The driver arrived later than scheduled which can be understandable, he arrived safely and got us to our destination safely but was very rude with not only myself but other passengers. Do all you can to avoid Peter Pan!! They do not adjust their schedules to account for changes in traffic during the summer and weekend dates. My bus went from Boston South Station to Barnstable Airport on a Friday in July at 11:00. It was scheduled to arrive at 12:25. It left South Station @ 11:15 (15 mins late) and arrived at Barnstable at 2:20 (1 hour and 55 mins late)!! There were no accidents on the highway or major construction issues, just summer/wknd traffic. When the driver go on the bus in South Station, he said right away that the bus would get to Barnstable about 1:15 (which would have been 50 mins late) at the earliest. He said because of summer traffic on Fridays. I was returning on a Monday and he said that traffic also usually means you won't arrive on time. I had to take an earlier bus (an additional $14) to be sure I would arrive on time to catch an Amtrak train in Boston. The only available earlier one (which arrived in Boston 30 mins late) got me to the station 4 hours before I needed to be there, so I spent more money and more vacation time wasted because Peter Pan doesn't list true departure and arrival times. Or they should at least list a range of times. I know they can't change the traffic or always know exactly how long it will take, but they seem to know very well, that it will take longer than they have planned. Try a different bus line, maybe they post realistic arrival and departure time. read more

Peter Pan bus is a total absolute scam: I bought a ticket DC-NYC that was supposed to be direct and at the terminal they tell me it will make a stop at Baltimore. After the Baltimore stop, the bus made a second stop between Baltimore and Philadelphia supposedly to change drivers, but passengers finish and also started a trip at that journey. Information was totally unreliable and the 4.30 hours trip lasted for at least 5.30 hours; as I am writing I am still on the bus. read more

Ever since the Bolt bus folded due to the pandemic, I have been looking for a suitable bus line to get me back-and-forth from New York to DC. Peter Pan came through with flying colors! The price was perfect. It was easy to check in and get on the bus plenty of place for my luggage. The bus was clean. I had a seat to myself, though it was full for the most part. The bathroom was clean. The driver was friendly. He got us to DC with a few minutes to spare, got my luggage and thanked him. I will be using this best service again, and again! Today I took a New York city bound bus from Silver Springs MD with a transfer in Baltimore. My bus departed Silver Springs at 11:50 am. It arrived in Baltimore at 12:37, with a scheduled departure time at 1:00 pm. The bus did not leave till after 1:30 pm There was NO announcements to explain the delay or staff consistently available to ask a questions. When the bus arrived the staff acted like it was a family reunion and talked and joked around like no one was waiting. The bus driver did not make any announcements about arrival time or no use of cell phones or loud talking. They just laughed and joked with another staff person riding the bus I felt invisible. Then to add insult to injuring we made an unnecessary stop somewhere maybe an hour from Baltimore for fifteen minutes while the driver and her "friend" got lunch. Still no announcement about arrival time. Also the driver and her friend talked throughout the trip which gave other chatty Cathy's permission to talk on phones. We will be 45 mins late arriving to NYC. This is the most ghetto unprofessional company I have ever seen read more

Rude drivers. No plugs, only USB outlet. During a Sept 8 4:30 bus from DC to NYC, we stopped for a break from 7:02-7:17. Like at least 8 other riders, I ordered Burger King. At 7:17, my partner wasn't back yet. I asked if she could wait a few seconds. The riders who had ordered ahead of me in line had just returned at 7:16, so he should be back any second. She said she was leaving, shutting the door. I asked if I could be let off and she started yelling that I not "play games" with her about taking long getting my stuff. I hadn't even reached my seat yet before she accused that. Yells the entire whole as I just silently walk to my seat to get my stuff. Either second half of 7:17 but definitely before 7:18 is over, my boyfriend runs back. He gets in and she still spews rage at us as we just silently sit. At second half of 7:18, another rider runs across the road to get back on the bus After it left him. Be prepared to be treated like cattle. Be prepared to risk getting left in the middle of nowhere and risk losing your stuff if you take long during the food hall and bathroom break. read more

Peter Pan is terrible. The buses are always dirty. Half of the drivers have bad attitudes and the bus isn't reliable at all. Twice I booked and the bus didnt show up. The first time I waited 2hrs and this time I waited 30mins and had to book a different bus. This is the simplest way for me to get between Philly and New York quickly. Drivers are usually friendly and the times for the express are almost always accurate. Small thing but an issue compared to other options: The mobile app needs help. Having to log in every single time (no saved login information, face ID or anything) is ridiculous and causes backups if lots of people need to re-log in when trying to board. Saved payment methods are also less than efficient if you need to re-enter the CCV number every time. read more

I've been a long time Peter Pan user. They are reliable, the price is right but... If you use the routes south of New York, those to Philadelphia, Washington DC, the buses are the rejects of the fleet. The bus on my way to NY, smelled of too many air fresheners trying to cover up the smell of something that died. The bus I took home last night was without a PA system, the driver had to yell his instructions. Neither bus had USB ports. Both showed their age with shabby seat coverings, a lack of foot rests and other amenities offered by their competitors and probably by their own buses on their northern routes. I take this bus weekly, and its awful and getting worse. 1. no covid measures (buses have been packed during the entire pandemic) 2. late 50% of the time. i had to wait 1h last week, and then another 30-minutes locked in a full bus while... and i'm not kidding... the bus driver was having a hot dog! a frigging hot dog while 60+ people are waiting. 3. cleaning is terrible. its done by the bus drivers in a rush 5-min before taking on new passengers. 4. customer support is bad. whenever i've reached out about the above issues, i've received 0 replies. i'll start riding to megabus or greyhound or drive myself moving forward. read more

Awful experience! Was running late to my scheduled bus that was supposed to leave at 3:30. Due to a broken foot I arrived at the bus at 3:29 when the bus driver had shut the doors and was pulling away while just shaking his head no at me. Kind women at the help desk said I had one and a half hours to reschedule my ticket. When I went to reschedule it, I lost money on the bus ticket I missed and had to buy the new ticket. In the end I paid even more money for the second ticket...so not really rescheduling my ride. Next time i will definitely be using a different company. read more

My most recent trip from Philly to NY was real rough. I booked an 8:30PM bus and arrived early to get in line. Come 8:35 we're told that the bus hasn't arrived and they don't know when it will arrive. At around 9:20 it finally gets in and we start to load the bus. An issue with loading the buses: one person checks tickets (and quite slowly at that) so the process of getting everyone on is at least ~20 minutes. Once everyone is loaded we continue to wait because our driver is on the phone about busted AC. After 15 minutes on the phone he tells us that he's trying to figure it out. It's unclear if someone will come fix it, if we'll switch to another bus, or if we'll just go as is. So we wait in the bus as it continues to get hotter, some people get off to stand outside. It's continuously getting later and we still havent heard anything. After another 20 minutes (and a few failed attempts at, presumably, convincing other drivers to give us their bus) we leave on the same bus we have been sweating in for the last hour. So not only did we kill almost two hours waiting, bus we've also elongated the time in which we will have to sit on this sweltering bus. At a little after 10:30 (once we're reloaded and the emergency exit on the top of the bus is pushed open) we start our drive. It was an unpleasant ride for the most part. I usually take the bus from Philly to NY because it's quicker than the septa + NJ transit route, but in this case it was not only over an hour and a half longer, it was also unbearably hot. Also, no word from peter pan apologizing for the inconvenience or ensuring that these things will be dealt with more effectively in the future. read more

One of the worst experience I really had. We are now sitting on the highway in New Jersey on the way to New York. Actually, the old bus which is being used by Peter Pan company got a flat tire. This is not the issue because it could happen but we have been waiting for anybody to help us for more than two hours. Nobody has come to help and the emergency service is horrible. After we got the flat tire the smile of smoke filled the bus and passenger got frustrated and hurried from their seats. I will not use this service anymore and I recommend you to do so. read more

Very poor customer service. By mistake I purchased ticket from Philadelphia to New York it was supposed to be from NYC to PHIL. I requested them to change the destination but they wont or refund. Before they used to help changing any mistake in the ticket not anymore. So disappointing, I was their regular customer since they came to business. I'll never travel with them again. The only reason I am giving PP two stars is because the gentleman and lady at the front desk were super kind and pleasant. The bus driver however was so passive aggressive and rude. We get it lady, you have the authority, you are driving the bus and you are in charge. She made me wait until everyone boarded with no explanation as to what was going on and told me if I didn't stand on a certain spot, I couldn't get on the bus. I booked on an earlier bus and when I arrived the kind ppl at the front said I didn't need to buy another ticket. After she asked me to move out of the line, I headed back towards the front desk was to make sure I wouldn't have any problems bc it seemed like she might not let me on. She then proceeded to call me and the front desk person names over the loud speaker of the bus intercom. Lol. She threatened the ticket clerk not to put trifling ppl on her bus meanwhile, I am over here like, what is this persons problem? I've used many cross-state bus services (i.e. megabus, bolt bus, greyhound) but Peter Pan is by far the worst I've used. The drivers are extremely rude and terrible drivers. We ran over huge chunks of curb and forget about getting any rest because they'll be sure to hit 2ft potholes head on. I've been 4 hours late using Peter Pan buses. Very reliable form of transport to NYC. Taken two round trips to NYC with them so far and was satisfied with their service. They offer a 5$ discount to anyone who signs up with them. I have their app on my phone. It's somewhat easy to use, my suggestion for the user, go slow make sure you make you selections carefully because the navigation on this site is somewhat difficult. Also when you are planning your trip keep in mind the tickets are non-refundable and a fee will be accessed for making changes. Decide to leave early and was hit with a 20$ exchange fee. It's been years since I've traveled. And Peter Pan bus lines were pleasant to and from NY from Philly. Online tickets were easy and quick. Coaches are Clean and comfortable. I was delighted with the onboard WiFi AND electrical outlets at each seat for your devices. The drivers were professional and polite. Bathroom onboard was clean . Schedules were accurate. The ride was stress free. Much better than driving yourself. No traffic stress,no tolls,no stops,no fuel,no confusing or inaccurate directions from gps because of construction,or changes in traffic patterns or detours. If I had on inconvenience,it was the AC vents above the seats didn't seem to work. But that's a personal preference. By no means a deal breaker. All this for that price is excellent. For an over all rating and experience I give Peter Pan bus lines 5 stars. I highly recommend using this bus service . read more

Where to start... I am currently on the bus from New York to DC (my second Peter Pan bus in two days) and it is MISERABLE. In short, it is the middle of July and the air conditioner is blowing HOT air. Everyone on this bus is fanning themselves with whatever they can find and pouring water over their heads to try and stay cool. In fact, some riders have even walked up to the driver and asked him to do something because it is so unbearably hot in here. I wish I could say this is an isolated incident but the Peter Pan bus I took yesterday (from DC to NYC) was exactly the same- no AC, and a lot of very hot, unhappy riders. I actually ended up having to go to an urgent care center when I arrived in New York because of heat illness- yes, it's THAT bad. Do yourself a favor and travel to your destination literally any other way. It was actually less hot walking around the streets of Manhattan than it is inside of this ungodly bus right now. read more
