On June 7, I purchased an angelfish and three cardinalfish from Petco during a promotion. The following day, all of the new fish showed signs of velvet disease. Within about five days, they had all died--along with two fish from my main display tank. I returned to Petco, but was informed they do not offer any guarantee. What's even more concerning is that the tank where I got these fish still contains around 20 fish that remain for sale. We got a round of vaccines for our kitten. We have several animals and have never had an issue with the Vetco clinics we have been to before but today we went to a new one and we will not be returning. My appointment was at 12. We go in, get seen, and leave. I have three issues. 1)the woman he checked us in was clueless. She was very nice but didn't know the answer to a single question I asked. 2)this same vet seemed more interested in pushing products to us that anything going on with the animal in front of her. 3)this was the clincher. The younger cashier with the septum piercing always presents with intense anger and makes me uncomfortable. It's comes off as they're pissed off to help me. When I got to register they were obsessively banging repeatedly on the register and counter during entire transaction. Huffing obsessively, rolling eyes and shit talking me in a low voice. Also, grabbed their phone and started checking it mid transaction. I don't think they realize their thoughts aren't kept to themselves. I entered the store in a great mood and left having anxiety attack. If employment is kept for this associate. I recommend you to look over your babies records print them out and revise them before bringing them your baby to vaxx. Both my babies were returning patients for a booster both for Lyme and one for her booster for her round hook worn but were not given . So in my case she will have to restart her vax which is exhausting for my baby which she will have to get pumped then visit 2-4 weeks . The techs should be more thorough and knowledgeable about medical summary previous procedures and answering questions and not to mention everyone I've encountered is incompetent of their work. Staff should be more organized and professional as well as their appearances. I had a woman literally in her hoodie tried putting my dog in a choke hold to inject her with her filthy attire. All staff should wear one-time disposable gown after each animal with the exception if they are from the same house hold.when handling animals. My babies would literally have an odor of like a dirty filthy dog Every time they return home I have to give them a bath from the close contact with other animals and vet techs and assistant. Not all pet owners are cleaned and their animal are well kept but im positive and proudly can say my babies are my life and well taken care of and I'm 100% responsible for them for their health, beauty and wellbeing. This was my first time in the store and I'm never going to go back. This Petco needs a lot of love - the cashiers are truly so kind, but their male manager (Peter) was was incredibly rude and dismissive to both customers and staff. I had several negative interactions within the 10 minute visit I was there. First, I came up to him to ask if and where the frozen adult mice were and he simply looked up at me and said, "Well, did you look?" I informed him that I had never been in the store and he dismissed me with a wave of his hand in the general direction of the fridge before going back to restocking. After my interaction with him, I did not find what I was looking for so I went to get my next item which was litter boxes. I found one and when I went up to the only cashier and ask if there was a second one - she quickly popped back to the same manager to see if he could check the back. He simply looked at her and didn't even move from his spot to look the aisle or back store before he said no and dismissed her. This was all in eye site of customers. Wow. Went to Petco to pick up food for my second cat today. I was standing in line for a few minutes and as I waited the cashier sent the customer in front of me out to gather something. The other customer who was at the checkout made a somewhat sarcastic comment about me having to wait to which I said, "that's okay, I'm just getting some cat food for my cat after just picking up my other cat's remains (literally just had come from the vet hospital)." I use to love this location. It was my safe haven. Where id go when I needed some zen to see all the animals and buy stuff for my own. Things are always low in stock which is stressful because I can't get what I need. The cashiers they have now are horrible which causes me anxiety. Plus computers always freeze. Vital premier I pay for is offline a lot so I can't redeem what I'm owed. Petco is becoming like Walmart and Petsmart is becoming Target. I'm noticing petsmart is always in stock of stuff and has become higher caliber than petco, especially the Woburn location. Admittedly before we moved into our home, I was trying to find somewhere where pups and I could enjoy the ac together.. Petco! This is your average Petco, greenies, catnip, fish, collars, food etc. I walked around here for probably an hour, about half of the employees greeted and asked if I needed help and half didn't. Again just an average Petco. Shelves all looked really well maintained, two thumbs up for whoever takes care of that. Pricing is often different in store than online. I wish they would just offer the same pricing, why not give your customers who are coming into the brick and mortar the same pricing? I wish I could give zero stars..... :( I had such an awful experience in their aquatics section, I had to write to corporate. I walked by tank after tank of sick, dying, dead and decaying fish. Fish that even a novice aquarist could have diagnosed. It was awful. Filters literally clogged with poor little fishies who didn't make it :( You know it's bad when corporate makes a PERSONAL phone call to a customer to apologize and to confirm that her concerns and suspicions were legitimate. They even told me that *staffing* had changed due to my complaints. I am super-impressed with the way corporate handled my concerns. For them, FIVE STARS!!! But for this store, the day that I went, I was disgusted, and I truly hope that their treatment of their aquatic critters is no refection upon their treatment of companion animals. read more

I'm primarily reviewing this Petco as a customer of their self-service dog wash, with thoughts of my experiences there as a customer for pet supplies in the past as a distant second. I took our Great Dane here after picking him up from where we boarded him while on vacation. He badly needed a bath and this was the closest place I could find since I needed to get him bathed quickly in order to make it to another appointment. The self-service dog wash is inside the full service grooming area. It cost $10, which is not bad, though the payment process is a little cumbersome since you have to sign up to use the self-service wash in the grooming area and then go into the main store area, wait in line at the check-out and then pay for it there. Then you need to go back to the grooming section to bathe your dog. Also, you need to bring proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog before they'll let you use the self-service wash (and possibly the full service grooming, though I did not ask about this). I did not bring this with me since I had no idea this was a requirement (and was not a requirement at any of the other self-service dog washes I've used in the past here in Massachusetts). Fortunately, they were able to call my vet's office and confirm this over the phone. If they'd needed a physical copy of it from me, I would have just turned around and gone home. I do want to note that the woman who was working in the grooming area was exceptionally nice and my low score for this store is in no way related to her at all. I'd give her 5 stars, but I feel that rating the self-service dog wash is more important here. There is one self-service tub available. If you happen to get there while someone else is using it, you'll have to wait for it (luckily, I got there while it was available). My dog is not fond of baths and really didn't want to get in the tub. The woman on duty helped me get him in, though I had the feeling that she was doing it to be nice and not because she was supposed to. Petco does not provide any of those rubber aprons to help protect your clothes while you wash your dog. Also there are no hooks or storage cubbies for you to store your purse or jacket while you use the tub. This is, in my eyes, the worst part of their self-service wash. I've never been to any self-service wash that doesn't provide these basic amenities and I will say that these are the primary reasons I won't be going back to Petco for their self-service wash unless I'm absolutely desperate. I brought my own shampoo for our dog, though it looked like there was some generic green shampoo available to use on a shelf way above the tub (I am 5'3" and had trouble reaching it). There were 2 exceptionally ratty, discolored towels (though they did seem to have been washed recently) on this shelf for me to dry my dog as well. While I realize that I'm just drying of my dog after a bath, I would appreciate not receiving towels that look like they've mopped up pee and other stuff over several years. I don't need fancy people-sized towels, but come on! They do provide a blow dryer in this area for you to use on your dog, which was useful since the towels I had (plus 2 extras I was offered after asking) didn't quite do the job of getting my dog fully dry before going outside in the cold winter air. I've shopped at this Petco before for supplies and such and never had any problems and have generally found the store staff to be nice. Combining the average-to-good score I'd give for general service in the store with my mostly poor experience with their self-service dog wash yields 2 stars for this Petco from me. read more

I love to come to this store when we are buying kitty litter for our cat, my husband and I always take time to say hello to all the pets they have and the staff is always super friendly, the store is always well supplied on everything for pets, clean and organize. All animals look healthy and well take care of, one of the staff member told me they interact with all the pets an hour before opening Which I think that's amazing since some animals need social interaction :) read more

I am writing the review for the grooming salon. I have groomed 4 dogs here over the years (back when it was on Mishuam Rd) and I have had great experiences. Iynda is my groomer and she is great. She does exactly what I want and is the only groomer that my old graying toy poodle is comfortable with. I also own a handicapped english bulldog who they are very good with. I also had a terribly behaved french bulldog who they never complained about and I knew he was a devil. The pet store itself is overpriced but the groomer at this particular location is great (The grooming location over at saugus Rt.1 is terrible). If you have a pals card they will give you a free grooming for every 10, which is great for someone with multiple dogs. Not good for product purchases but the grooming salon is great. Although I do buy my wellness dog food from Petco because you get the 10th bag free with the pals card. read more

I started going to the Petco in Medford to have our 90+ lbs German Sheppard groomed, I can't say enough good things about Sam who did the job both times. The first time I went I bought a bag of dry food and I believed it was more expensive the Petsmart where I had been buying for several years. When it became time to get more food, before leaving I priced the three products we needed on both sites. Each item was about one to two dollars more at Petco. Because of my positive outcome with the grooming I decided to go to Petco. I was near the Woburn store and I stopped in. The Petsmart is right across the street. I picked up 4 items. When I got home I checked the prices and found that I paid 20 dollars more than the online prices. My receipt stated I had received a nine dollar savings. I don't think I will buy my dog's food and treats there in the future. read more

Each manager has a different reason for the crickets dying. The room I keep them in is too cold. The room I keep them in is too hot. The crickets are old and don's have a long life. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET. I have been taking my 14 lb dog to this location for a couple years. My regular groomer recently left so I made an appointment with the Grooming Salon Manager, who's name I believe was Indya. I called in advance to confirm that the price hadn't change since I'd last been there 6 months earlier. I was assured on the phone that a bath, haircut and nail trimming would still cost $47.00 as it always has in the past. When I arrived, I was "greeted" by the Grooming Salon Manager Indya, and I use that term lightly...she was immediately rude and acted as if I was interrupting her by checking my dog in for her scheduled appointment. She quickly disregarded me and handed me paperwork requiring my signature WITHOUT mentioning that she was CHARGING ,me $80.00 rather than the $47.00 I was quoted and have always paid. When I mentioned the discrepancy in the cost, she became agitated and attempted to justify her reasoning by saying it would take her a significant amount of time to brush out the knots in my dog's hair. MY DOG IS 14 LBS. I ended the conversation by explaining that the past groomer would simply shave her down and groom around her face and it always came out great. I even showed her a picture. FIVE AND HALF HOURS LATER I still had not received a call about the status of my dog, so I called the salon. I heard Indya in the background shout out "Tell her she's done" in a very rude manner as soon as she heard the receptionist say my dog's name. It is difficult to adequately explain in words, without a visual, how HORRIBLE my dog was groomed. Her haircut was completely uneven with chunks of hair thicker and longer in random places. There was no attempt to even trim her tail or the hair around her face and ears. And when I picked her up, she was trembling as if she had just been neglectfully handled. I paid $47.00 plus a $10.00 dollar tip for something that a five year old child could have done better. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU. read more

I rarely, if ever, write reviews. However, I am SO incredibly disgruntled with Indya, the MANAGER of the grooming salon, that I felt the need to write this review. Overall, if you intend to get your dog groomed by Indya, be prepared for someone who is inflexible, unsympathetic and NOT willing to work with the customer. I arrived for my 2pm appointment at 2pm on a Sunday. She asked me for proof of rabies, and I told her that I forgot the papers. I asked if she could take the dog while I drove home, 10 mins in each direction, to get the papers ABSOLUTELY NOT. I asked if I got back in the next 20 minutes if she would be able to take my dog to cut, bathe and groom him. She said if I was not back in 15 minutes she probably couldn't take him. I asked if there was any other way she could help me with this problem. She suggested I have someone fax her the paperwork. What a great idea for someone who lives alone and has NO fax machine. Thanks for the 'non-suggestion.' As I told her, I was leaving the country for a week and my dog very much needed to be groomed (my fault for waiting a week too long to set up the appointment, admittedly). I told her I don't normally beg, but, was asking for her help in this situation. She stuck to what she said at the start of the conversation. So, I knew I needed my dog to get groomed and I therefore raced home, grabbed the proof of rabies vaccine, which I had left on the counter and raced back to the Woburn store. She came back to me, said 'hi,' and said, 'I can't take him.' I asked if she was really going to turn me (him) down for 15 minutes. She said that it was now 30 mins later and it was just too late. I'm sorry, but, in the 10 years I have been taking my dog to a groomer, the dog typically spends 2.5 hours in a cage and is worked on for 1.5 hours. EVEN IF she needed the full 4 hours that she claimed (which, at this point, she had 3.5 hours to work on him), I cannot believe that she could not have finished him within that time span OR that my dog's appointment would have caused her to get out of there so much drastically later than normal. Indya was UNPROFESSIONAL, unbending (especially when I plead my story) and absolutely unwilling to work with me in the least. If you want to be mistreated, disrespected and brought to begging, and get NOTHING in return for it, then visit this uncooperative woman. I don't know about you, but, in my line of work, it is rare that I get out of work on the dot and often that I take the compassion (and time) to stay later to help out a client. I take the time to write this review so that anyone who considers going to this grooming salon chooses not to, given the inflexibility and the way this woman mistreats her so-called customers. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Petco in Woburn since opening day. I have 2 Large Dogs (greyhounds) so I spend $$$ on food and grooming at this store. As part of the "Top Dog" program I recieve coupons in the mail as a reward for money spent. Tonight when spending $109. on Dog Food they would not let me use the coupon they SENT ME for being such a good customer because it was a few days past expiration. Apparently they havent noticed the Petsmart that opened across the St. They honor any Pet Store coupon. I am extremely dissapointed they did not value me as a loyal customer. read more

We just moved here, and i took my 2 labradors for grooming to Petco in Woborn..,well they seem ok, but they didnt get a bow.. And when i went to pick them up i saw 1 groomer yelling at the little dog, her facial expression was really mean and she seems like she hated her job... I would hate in anybody just screams at my dogs and even more if i am paying for a service. My dogs were there for 4 hrs and 1/2... They only had 2 people there and many dogs. I have taken my dog there for grooming for two years, the last few times she is terrified. I have to carry all 51lbs of her from the car into the store. I chalked this up to her not liking the bath and being afraid of the dryer. She is so afraid that she gets rolled up into a corner and starts peeing. Now I KNOW why she is terrified! I had her groomed last week and a few days after I started noticing scabs on her back. like pucture wounds from the brush used to deshed. So obvoiusly someone there was overly rough with her because she has at least 4 big puncture wounds on her back that have scabbed over but are deep enough that if you move her fur she starts bleeding. read more

I made an appointment almost two months prior to dropping my dog, Bruce, off at Petco (103, Commerace Way, Woburn 01801). His appointment was at 12:00 pm and I figured I would pick him up a couple hours later fully groomed. At 4:30, when I still had not recieved a call, I contacted the groomed. She said it would still be hours before I could pick up Bruce because there were three dogs ahead of him STILL! Already, terrible service. At about 6:00 pm, I recieved a call that Bruce was being transported to an ER because the groomer had chopped off his Dewclaw!! When I got to the vet, they told me he needed to be sedated and left over night. My poor dog needed 4 stiches and was left half shaven. I couldn't believe it. WORST experience ever!
