we had Sam groom our dog April and she was amazing came in on her day off because our dog is a more reactive and anxious dog and she was able to take her time and introduce herself to our baby so she could be more comfortable with her and she came back looking beautiful. I took my dog in for a routine grooming appointment. They cut his leg open, took him to an off site vet, couldn't tell me where he was immediately, and didn't even finish cutting his hair. Now he's in a cone, with meds, and 5 staples in his leg and still needs a haircut. To their credit I wasn't charged anything for the grooming (or lack thereof), or the vet bill. I understand mistakes happen, but this was handled poorly. I will obviously never be back, and recommend no one else take their beloved pets to be groomed there either. read more

I went to a Vetco, which is Petco weekend clinic to get my puppies last shot and a Lepto vaccine. Told me to buy the package and prepay and the remaining boosters would be included in a month. After they took my $235 payment I told them I couldn't come back the following month. They told me, not a problem and to just make an appt. at the Watugua store and easily get the final vaccines. BTW, I had to get the vaccines between 12/2 and 12/9 or they would be useless. I called the store and they refused to give my puppy the meds. A girl kept telling me I had to drive an hour away to get the vaccines. She didn't care about my pups date frame or I was told to go there. I asked for a manger, don't even bother. I filed a complaint, save it. Even though their store gave false info. they never would give her shots and I was told they don't refund packages. So after another complaint no one called back, I took my puppy somewhere else and paid $50 more. Because of their store employees mistakes, I wasted $50 more of my money. Because of their store employees, I paid for a package which couldn't be partially refunded so they kept my money for the vaccine/boosters they never injected. Ran me through the ringers with saying they were sorry and someone would call, took my money without giving the vaccines and didn't care about the welfare of my puppy. They are HORRIBLE! read more

We took our Yorkie pups (5 months old) there for their haircut. We we walked up, one lady was sitting in another ladies lap. This itself was unprofessional. Another lady saw our puppies and she rolled her eyes and said "Oh Great" and walked off. We should have left at that moment but we didn't. They had told us they would be cut really short, which is exactly what we wanted. When we picked them up 4 hours later they looked exactly the same. They had a bath and that was basically all. We had to pay $150.00 before we saw the puppies on and all they refunded when we were extremely dissatisfied was $15.00. DO NOT USE PETCO! They are unprofessional and do a terrible service. I just hope they did not mistreat our puppies while they had them. read more

Our dog Simon was happy to be there before, after and smelled great when we picked him up and so soft! Mandy was really nice during the check in process and when I called to let them know I was on my way to pick him up. This was my first experience and I will definitely bring Simon here again for grooming! They offer many add-on services too! i took my cat to this Petco and this lady named patty was helping me get him a new home I went to this Petco to hopefully rehome my cat. The lady that was helping me had the worst attitude ever and should never work around animals again, her behavior was absolutely unacceptable and disgusting she changed my cats name without me asking and she ripped him away from me after I had said I was having second thoughts about leaving him at Petco. She took my cat from me and locked him in the cage and left I was in absolute shock when this happened and I was devastated I luckily had a family member adopt my cat so I would be able to see him again last night I unfortunately had to put him down because he wasn't eating and he was vomiting everyday. I had told the vet about the situation and they had taken a parvo test and he tested positive they said that he 100% got parvo from the Petco please if you or anyone you know is thinking about bringing you pet to Petco to find a new home please reconsider and find a safer place for you pets I dont want a situation like this to happen to anyone else Petco you need better hygiene in those kennels please find a better kennel attendant that will actually clean your kennels and please reconsider having patty from talltails working for you she is incredibly unprofessional and she does not deserve to handle animals the way I saw her handle my cat. Nick helped me select some fish and plants for my aquarium. He treated me very professionally and took the time to show me some plants that just got in from the shipment. My wife just returned after bringing our dog in for a nail clip/glands and we are in total shock. We wanted to add the Christmas special on site and were asked by the FOUR technicians just sitting there talking and laughing, "Can you bring her back tomorrow?" There was only ONE other dog in there. We got our dog back and nails were barely cut and were told her glands were clean (first time EVER). Technician said, "It must be internal..." Apparently, there has been a significant price increase Petco does not care to disclose when the appointment is made. When arriving both staff members were playing on their phones and did not notice I was standing at the counter. Anyway, it went downhill from there and the staff then refused service. I guess business is so good for them they can charge what they want and treat customers poorly. This complaint could go on forever but here are just a few more things: Grooming does not answer the phone. Grooming does not return phone calls. Staff failed to let me know that they did not have a mobile groomer even though they said the mobile groomer would call me back. Funny, when they took the message they knew there was no mobile groomer. The store manager was nice, but he was also new. He might have lots of work to do to improve the store. read more

And all I could think about is my baby dog has been so upset the last few months because Petco shaved her without my knowledge and she was 18 years old..change anything in an old dog's life isn't easy. No she did not die because her hair was shaved but she was upset about it. My best friend spent her last months on this world upset with her hair because of Petco and that is not nice at all. And when I went there to complain they said : hair grows back and here is your money back. Guess what she did not had the time to have her hair grow back! So if I could I would give Petco zero stars! DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE TO BE GROOMED!!!! My mom recently brought her 8 year-old white german shepard, Grace, in for a bath, and nail trim and received miserable service. She dropped Grace off around 1pm on a Sunday. Typically she get a call to pick her up after 3-4 hours. At 6:30 she had still not received a call and was very concerned considering the store closes at 7pm.... she drove directly to the store to find that the grooming department appeared to already be closed down for the night, lights off, and no employees to be found. She went to a cashier to ask for help and find out where her dog was. The cashier pulled up paper work for Grace's visit, and the proceeded to charge her for the services.......(not sure why my mom agreed to pay without seeing Grace first but anyways). After this transaction my mom was brought back towards the grooming department to find her dog whimpering, alone, in the dark, in a cage, and WET!!!! Grace was anxious and desperately needed to be let out to use the bathroom, so my mom took care of that while the cashier got her manager. When my mom returned she was refunded her money (gee thanks...), but given NO EXPLANATION as to what happened. Grace was NOT cleaned, her nails were NOT trimmed and she was still WET. We have no how much time she spent in that cage and no idea how this happened. When my mom asked the manager "What would of happened if I didn't drive here before you closed tonight? Would she have been left here in that cage all night?" and the manager replied..... "YES". At this point my mom got herself and Grace out of this miserable excuse of an establishment as quickly as she could. Meanwhile Grace did not eat, sleep or use the bathroom regularly for 3 days. Thank you Petco..... If you ever plan to have your dog traumatized please continue to go to this grooming facility. read more

She kept saying this is a ballpark estimate.. so I asked what determines the final cost? She explained the cost all over again and said ball park estimate. I don't much care for this store either. I don't remember Petco being so bad in SoCal, but I did like PetsMart better there anyway for some reason. The only reason I go into this store is to buy a brand of cat litter they carry that I can scoop from a big bin into refillable tubs. I like it because it clumps well, is easy to scoop, and my cats don't track too much of it all over the place like they do with other brands. If I could buy this litter at PetsMart, I wouldn't shop at this store. I've found bags of cat food past the sell-by date on their shelves a number of times. The last time I bought a bag of cat food there I started having those pantry-type moths in my house. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from until I opened the new bag of food. It was infested. Gross! Just go to PetsMart down the road. It's much nicer. read more

Mixed feelings. My 60lb lab was shedding and needed washed and brushed out. $30 but they said for $60 they would do a special deshedding treatment. Did not work. Dogs shedding all over the darn place. I don't see any difference from me taking him and washing myself and using my furminator. They said they had specialized shampoo and worked his undercoat well. I bought a new fish tank for the LED light option. I got home and completely set it up. I realized the cord for the light was not in the box. I called the store to see if I could bring my receipt and box to the store and get a cord. Sarah told me I had to bring the receipt with the complete tank in the box back to the store to receive a new one. I told her my fish was already swimming in it and it took me a long time to set my tank up and get the water balanced and do not have anything big enough to hold the water and also don't want to over shock my fish--- I just need the missing cord. She said "Sorry- that's your only option. Put it back in the original tank and bring the old one back so we can switch it out entirely with a new one." This is horrible customer service and efficiency as its not defective-- it's just missing a cord. I don't know why they can't grab a cord and mark another box "defective" to follow their protocol as it would be exactly the same. I will never shop at PetCo again. read more

We are new glo fish owners and Adam who works in the fish dept is very knowledgeable, very nice, and very helpful. We ran into some issues with algae, ammonia and had a million questions on how to take care of our fish correctly. I beg anyone who is reading this to never take your pet to be groomed here. I have a golden doodle and we trusted them to do their best with him. Yes, he was matted. He has thick curly hair that wads up like a piece of cotton and it's impossible to brush out. We have every style of comb and brush they make. But with all that being said the butcher job they did on my poor baby was unbelievable. They shaved him down to the skin. His ears were bleeding on the inside. They plucked all the hairs out of his ears. They cut gaps in his face down to the skin and the girl said she was going to leave his beard. My dog is actually traumatized from the experience. When he came home he wouldn't even let me hold him and try to doctor his wounds. We took him to their vet the next day and they agreed they did a terrible job and said they had never seen a doodle cut so short, ever! They gave us antibiotics, a cream to put on his face and inside his ears, and an anti inflammatory medicine. All my dog has done is shake his head, cause his ears are driving him crazy. Hes licking and scratching all over so we've been giving him Benadryl. feel absolutely horrible for leaving my sweet boy in those peoples hands and I never will again. Please don't take your fur babies to these amateur groomers. read more

I love Petco, but this one has gone down hill significantly since I started coming to this location. Today when I visited, there were lots of huge (over 1in big) dead crickets all over the floor and well as cockroaches the same size running around. I also has to alert an employee of a dead animal in its cage, which is not the first time I've had to do this. I will say that the employee was quick to take care of the animal. Last time I visited, just a few weeks ago, we had to alert an employee that an animal was being eaten alive by its own food and was twitching and suffering. She did not tend to said animal and had to find another employee to deal with it. I understand there are many animals to care for, but you would think they would have things a little cleaner and remove dead animals from their enclosures. One other thing, employees make zero attempt to talk with and help you. I actually find it hard to find an employee walking the store. I truly hope that this store can improve. read more

I tried to exchange it for a larger size and the girl at the register told me she needs original receipt. Well I didn't have it anymore so I told her to look up the purchase via the rewards number (proof I purchased it there) and she said she needed original receipt. What the heck Petco get with the times this is ridiculous and a waste of my time. You have the proof of purchase in your own system!!!! I will never go back. My dog's cut was good and staff very nice. However, I specifically asked for my dog NOT to have cologne spritz or anything highly scented. You could smell her as you walked in the house after her appointment. I called and they said if I brought her back they would bathe her. Late and not convenient. I had one of our kids do it. Although they offer a better high end selection of food than Petsmart, they could do better. I do not like the care given to the small animals. The ferrets cage is always filthy and full of flies and their nails are terribly overgrown. They say they don't have time to clip the nails and its normal for ferrets to have that much waste in their habitat. Well, the petco in Hurst always has a clean cage and the ferrets nails are taken care of. You can tell by the way the employees at the hurst store handle the ferrets that they really care. I need a new harness for my lab, he is 130lbs and his chest measures 40"! I figured they would have a nice selection of harnesses. All of their collars were picked over and thinned out. They had a sign about bringing in new but I have seen that for a few weeks now. I went to PetSmart over on Heritage Trace and found exactly what I needed. I love this petco and choose to come to this petco specifically my only comment is the staff should keep in mind you do not know the situation surrounding any given animal. What I mean by this is I am a senior veterinary technician at an animal shelter and yes I realize my foster is skinny. I have her because she was an emaciation case. I'm not going to leave her at home because of this but you should leave your dirty looks at home. Point made... you do not know the history of any particular animal that walks in so if you are curious... ask. I would have been happy to explain her current condition and her beautiful rescue story! We took our lhasa poo here to get a shampoo and although other times have been fine this time was not. We told the lady strictly not to cut her hair and that we ONLY wanted a shampoo and blow dry.
