I lost my brother unexpectedly in May. He was living in Wasilla, AK and his dog Doodles had no home. I live in California and the Airlines have specific and strict requirements for flying pets. I called Petco in Wasilla, and explained the situation. The staff, especially Janie, Haley and Katie, went above and beyond to help me meet all the requirements for the flight. Their trainer even made sure Doodles fit in the carrier properly so there would be no problems during check-in. Because of all of you, Doodles is here in California with family, being loved and cared for, and caring for his dog, has brought a measure of comfort in the loss of my brother. As follow up to my poor service experience with Petco Wasilla, I spoke with my vet again regarding the wellness letter your staff said my vet will know all about. They have six people working in the office and none of them know what you're talking about. They have never issued anything other than the check up report and rabies certificate we gave your staff. They are checking with Petco Corporate but said they've heard of a vet issuing a "wellness letter" to a groomer. How can you improve? Fire your rude incompetent two bit manager and mean girl workers. Petco is a business that should provide good service to its customers. Not your staff rudely lecturing customers about what they want the customer to do when they show up for an appointment that took a month to get. It was a total waste of our time and we will not be back. My hope is those who take time to read this review will arrive at the same conclusion and run for the hills. I visited Petco Wasilla store and talked to a manager regarding my vet putting my dog on prescription wet food because of allergies. We had 6 cases of non prescription wet canned food that we had ordered because the store was always out of that food. I asked the manager if we could return the 6 cases all with late 2026 expiration dates and he said yes. He said we can do a store credit or put the credit back on your card. The next day I carried 6 cases in to the store and the manager was not in. The sales clerk said we don't accept returns after 60 days. A different manager came out and she pulled up my name and we have no record you purchased this food here. I told her I ordered that food from them in the store for the last 5 years. After 30 minutes of them trying to find my order I pulled up my bank records on my phone and showed her all of the orders. Magically they were able to find my orders. She told me that the manager I met with was new and that they could only give me a store credit. I insisted on a refund. The manger went to the back room to call her boss and came out and said we will only give you a store credit. The new food is only available on line and using the store credit would not allow me to do repeat orders to reduce cost of the case. I agreed and so she started processing the credit in her register and turned to me and said the system will not allow me to process the credit because it is over 60 days since you purchased. I spent over an hour dealing with incompetent people and walked out with the 6cases. I will pay more purchasing from my vet before I will ever step a foot in that store. read more

Petco as a store is great. The rating is for the groomers. The past experiences were decent but the last two times I took my dog for a simple nail trim were not good. She is now terrified to get her nails trimmed and this last time I went shopping for pet food while she got it done. I heard my dog YELP from across the store (mind you she is in the groomer with two sets of doors and glass between her and the store. Go to pick her up and her new harness is broke. When I asked about it, the girl claimed complete Ignorance. That harness was sound and secure and it would take a lot of force to rip the seams with a 13 pound dog attached. Never again. If you can't safely deal with a dog you should not do the service. I can accept if my dog needs to get her nails trimmed at the vet, I'll pay more if that's what it means to do it safely. I wished I had stayed and watched her get this done because there would not have been any way to lie about. I'm sure there are some good groomers here but the one I had is dishonest and obviously didn't give a shit that she hurt my dog and ruined a harness that cost far more than the nail trim. Two notes for this place. 1. The service: non existent. Three separate employees walked past me without making eye contact or asking if they could help. I had to go hunt someone down when I couldn't find the pill pockets. 2. The pill pockets: So expensive. You would think that a pet store would have a variety of pill pockets. But they don't. And the ones they have are about 10 dollars more than the brand at Target. I'm sure there is a quality difference, but I just need to give my dog one pill every other day. I'm already paying for the meds. Why am I paying almost 20 cents more for that tiny treat morsel?!? Okay, rant over. But seriously, Petco carries other Wishbone products. Bad customer service. The employees will lie to your face to get you to buy anything. They went through multiple managers in the last 3 months and they're animals aren't in the best condition either. For example they're reptiles are severely malnourished with way too hot temperatures and extremely low humidity. Along with reading several other reviews even they're dog grooming station is bad, leaving almost a dozen pets shaved down to the skin and really patchy cuts as well. I get they have the couple good employees but that doesn't make up for the majority of the company. They're prices are outrageously high. I'm making it a point right now to go on every reviews app I have to let people know what's going on and PLEASE don't trust they're star rating read the worst reviews before thinking it's a good place to go. read more

I brought my grandson (dog) his name is Puppy, and his name fits him perfectly. He is a blue nose pitbull. I want to say that Jamie Oliveri was probably the best groomer I've ever had for any animal I've had groomed. Thank you Petco and thank you Jamie keep up the good work! do not buy snakes or reptiles here they take horrible care of them they always have stuck shed and terrible humidity levels that are half what they should be they use bad bedding if they used proper bedding it would be better for the humidity causing the snakes to have a better time while they are there they have a corn snake there that has a droopy eye and looks to be close to dying they had a snake there that went to the back and had issues they take awful care of them I've rescued two that I felt so bad for since I couldn't save one of the clutch mates I never should have done that since the just got more snakes to torture in the end so I basically reset the circle the fact that no one there but one or two people cares is sad and the way that people go there and HAPPILY BY STUFF SUPPORTING THIS HORRIBLE CHAIN no every single time I go there there's always a snake that is in horrible health same with lizards they can't sell hem plus they always have the morphs of the snakes mislabeled they don't know what tf a morph is there they label them like they are canned dog food like fancy snake when you can clearly tell there's something there I hate the chain and hate that I occasionally HAVE to buy stuff there because Petzoo doesn't have it plus Petzoo has healthier snakes die cheaper plus they look cooler and have nice staff they always are there to help you even when they are busy instead of ignoring people read more

I took my 7 month old miniature schnauzer here and it was his first grooming. Lilly did his haircut exactly how I wanted it done. He had some matting in his hair because his hair was long and the type of hair he had, so I was nervous at how it was going to turn out. Best customer service! My pup got bit and I was in need of vetericyn (best wound product) and this location carries it! It took me all day trying to locate it and when I finally did there was no way for me to make it there before closing. Then the employees came to my rescue, set aside my item and waited for me. I showed up right at closing and they got me in and out without a fuss. I'm so grateful they came to my pup and i's rescue! read more

They also have just about anything you may need for your pet. If they don't have what you're looking for, they know what direction to point you in. They are pretty awesome here. My dog was pretty anxious about being groomed professionally for the first time, but their stylist, Brittany, was AMAZING with her. She was able to accomplish more than what I thought my dog would allow her to accomplish; especially since it only took her about an hour to groom my medium short-haired mix. Management contacted me and seamed genuinely concerned, and are going to pay for Sky's vet bills. It was a terrible tragedy and money wont bring my baby back but will ease the financial burden. The Wasilla, AK PETCO store is not kid or customer friendly. When my grand daughter asked for help in the fish department while I was there keeping an eye on the fish she wanted, the PETCO associate told her that she needed to an adult to be helped and walked away. She wouldn't even stick around to hear her state, "my grandpa is right there." I saw the whole thing and couldn't believe what I was seeing. What kind of BS excuse is that to get out of helping customers??? Unacceptable for a company with "Happier People" in their slogan. When I addressed it to the manager on duty, I still didn't get any assistance. So, are we supposed to stand there all day and be ignored? So, we took our business to Pet Zoo and will never shop at PETCO again. So others can be warned, please post a sign on the front door stating "Children not welcome, you must be an adult to shop here, and you can expect to not be helped once you enter." Also, remove the "Happier People" out of your slogan, because you didn't make us happy standing there waiting for 20 minutes with no assistance and when we asked for it, you rudely walked away. My now 10-month-old puppy has been to the spa three times. She has anxiety separation and I appreciate the care and concern that Whitney gives in caring for her. I also like the fact that Whitney writes up a short report on my pups grooming experience. As well as, takes the time to talk with me about it. I've been here several times now and they've never failed me. It was the first time my shih tzu needed to get her hair shaved and groomed and I was quite anxious about it. She's very shy and can get really scared. I dropped her off at 9am and ended up picking her up at 6pm. When I saw her I was so impressed! My husband and I both! The groomer I dropped her off at honestly told me over the phone she didn't want to handle her because of discomfort. Which I understood. Luckily she had another groomer coming in (wish I knew her name) and was more experienced than her to try and see if she could get our shih tzu done. She mentioned it would take another few hours for her to be done but can get her groomed as soon as she could. It was a busy day and they had other dogs but I am patient and told her I'd wait to pick her up. By the time we picked our shih tzu up, oh my goodness she was beautiful!!!! She looked so amazing and I was beyond impressed at how well the groomers did with her. Thank you groomer ladies, thank you thank you!!! You guys did absolutely awesome and even let her hang out there til we got her. You guys went above and beyond and I'm totally coming back again, thank you! read more
