I like this petco better than the one in Studio City only because has slightly more items, but I noticed that the studio city location is expanding so you'll soon have to disregard that. Grooming: I've only gone here for nail trimming. No appointment needed for this, so you can just walk-in. $15, pretty good price for what you get. I went into their room and these two guys were there grooming dogs. One of them was on the phone talking to a costumer and the other was just looking out the window now even paying attention to what he was doing. These guys looked miserable! It was really discouraging to watch because, well, I was thinking of getting my dogs haircut here but after watching them. NO WAY! They could care less about the dogs. The girl who trimmed my dogs nails was a sweetheart. I watched her as she cut his nails and she was trying to calm him down and make him Feel comfortable. Cleanliness: Every corner in the store there is dog pee. My pup stops at almost every single corner to sniff, and you can also clearly see it. There's pee on the toys if they're at the bottom. I understand it's a dog store but not keeping the facility clean is disgusting. Staff: The cashier was an angel but some employees were absolutely NO help when it came to picking a good food brand. My pup isn't eat as much as I want him to and he has a very sensitive stomach so I asked a girl working there what she suggested....She didn't really give me much insight. AT ALL. I felt like I had more to say about the different food brand types that she said. I know they don't go to school for it but if you're going to work at a dog store, I think you should gain more knowledge about the animals & food. This last visit wasn't the best visit. My fiance just got me a Labrador puppy last week for our anniversary so we went in to grab his essentials a few days ago on Tuesday the 30th I have my receipt. We named him Rascal like Rascal Flatts! When we walked in we immediately felt uncomfortable and tense these workers on the floor are too preoccupied with doing their shipment or whatever they can't even acknowledge their customers I thought it was so rude but then I see how the (I assume) MANAGER was yelling and barking orders in front of customers so disrespectful and a teensy bit scary! My fiance wanted to leave but we didn't want to make another trip and drive Rascal from place to place he already had a hard time in the one drive. This manager she had short black hair and had an accent she must have been having a bad day because she said on the phone to a customer and I quote "try speaking english" I was completely offended. In this day and age especially with how the pandemic has affected low income and minority homes the most, how dare you speak to someone like that. Then proceeded to yell on the intercom "can I get a spanish speaker" another customer and I locked eyes in disgust because there was no discretion what so ever. I didn't get her name but I could see why there was no one available to help on the floor. I honestly just felt bad for them leaving I told my cashier she was doing a great job she was a nice girl with glasses. It's like she was used to being treated that way by her and just blocked it out. I deserved a much better experience and so do other customers. Definitely NOT coming back to this location with how they drive customers away. No one answered my questions or even stopped to ask if o needed anything. Not one of the better petcos. The people who work here are not happy to be there. They are not helpful and are disorganized. I saw the manager being very unprofessional to a customer a while ago and it left a bad taste. The only reason I come here is for the dog trainer, Julie. She's an older, more mature woman who can get the dogs to cooperate. She's easy going, very kind and understand and is able to accommodate my schedule. I'm usually there with my young kids for puppy classes and she treats my kids with respect and teaches them to train our pup. read more

Took my doggies Baby and Rocky to get a much needed grooming the other day & I'm very much pleased with the results! I love how they gave me the option for the ideal length on both dogs' hair instead of just shaving them all clean like they do at other places. They also did a very good job keeping them soft and smelling nice. And the girl who helped us out, I believe her name was Andrea, was extremely helpful and friendly with my dogs! This review is for the grooming department only. My lab/pitt mix needed a bath in a big way. I called in the morning on a Sunday and was greeted very nicely by a woman there. She said she could fit my dog in for a bath later that day. I had to provide proof of her rabies vaccinations (which I don't have laying around the house). The groomer explained the easiest way to get them confirmation that she was up to date on shots and, after a few calls and about 20 minutes, they told me to bring Jada in for her bath. David was the person who I spoke with on the phone and also who groomed Jada. He was incredibly helpful and polite. I've read past reviews and I think it's safe to say that Petco has upped their game since those reviews were made. I received nothing short of wonderful customer service to everyone I encountered at this location. The price was great as well ($33 for everything) ... and I was that jerk that didn't think to get cash for a tip before picking my dog up. I promised myself I'll tip twice as much for her next bath so that I could live with my mistake. I will absolutely be back to Petsmart whenever Jada needs a bath. If you're bringing your pup in, ask for David (although I'm sure the other groomers are just as great). read more

I usually go to the Encino branch which has the best service. I was out of dog food, since the repeat delivery didn't arrive yet and I was in the area. A sales person informed me that they don't carry anymore the brand I need. She was so careless, no intention to help at all. Everyone knows if you feed your dog a different food it will upset their stomach and they most probably will have loose stool all over the house. I had to drag out of her which brand should I take that will be close to my brand; even though she was informed that I am completely out of food. I wasn't happy with her respond, so I asked another sales person on the floor. She was a bit nicer and offered to ask her manager, that has more information. Well, very surprising she took me to the first girl who helped me. Wow, and she was the manager. A manager of a store with such an attitude and not energy to help out really. Absolutely felt, unwanted, no desire to help out. I will never put my feet in that location. Encino location actually cares about out pet, as their own. Not so sure why this place has such a poor rating as I've been taking my dog here for grooming almost 10 years now and still satisfied. Everyone that works in the grooming department is very nice and loving towards all the animals. That's particularly good for a picky fellow like my Chihuahua who has a huge Napoleon Complex. Even for a feisty dog like him, he even enjoys coming to this Petco for his grooming needs. I can tell he's very well cared for and that the people working there understand and know how to work with his personality. They offer pretty much any grooming need you can think of and at reasonable prices as well. The store itself is also nice and well managed. They've updated it over the years and it's easy to find, park, and get what you need in the store. The only reason I knocked 1 star off is that I would not recommend Petco for puppy/kitty shots as the people who administer the shots I believe are a 3rd party that may not really care or be gentle with the dog and may not insert the shot in the right place so that it doesn't hurt them. Other than that I really enjoy coming here and so does my little man King Pitty. read more

I have been to many other Petco locations and this one is smaller than the others. The layout just seems cramped. They have lots of parking as they share a huge lot with other businesses. There always seems to be stuff in the aisles. There are some employees that just seem to whine and complain and don't do much. There was one time when a customer had a dog with her that did its business in the middle of one of the aisles. The customer didn't pick it up (or didn't even notice) and I heard one of the employees complaining about it and said they weren't going to pick it up. Sure, it is much better to just leave it there, right? This place is the closest to my house and they carry a specific kind of cat food I need. Their selection isn't that great and the lines can get long. It isn't great but believe it or not I have seen worse. read more

Avoid this location if you can. I came in to return my dogs food for the first time ever. I recently had to change his food and specifically told him he might not like it, the associate confirmed that I could return it at ay time with my receipt within the allotted time frame on the receipt. Mind you, I bought this bag about two/three weeks ago. This location denied my return claiming that there needed to be a minimum of 2lbs left to return, there was 1.1lbs left because my pup at some and part way through I found most of it left in his bowl that he'd refused to eat, so I threw the food leftover in the trash. The rude associate called her manager and told me to go to another stand after I offered to move so she could take the next customer while I waited. While I waited, I checked the receipt to verify if this was stated anywhere, it was not. When the manager came out I explained the situation again, and regardless of what the receipt in the return policy section, she continued to implement her own policy. I've worked Disney retail for far too long to know how petty this kind of situation is, and the moment you see it's not stated on the receipt, just do your job and follow the receipt policy. The manager then said she would return for a prorated price only accounting for the amount that was left in the bag! ANOTHER policy she implemented on her own outside of the receipt! I said no. She then said she would only return it for store credit! I HAD MY RECEIPT! I ended up calling customer service who in turn had to call their location and tell them to honor my return. THIS WAS SUCH A WASTE! I really cannot believe how ridiculous this who situation panned out. She could have saved us both the headache and just returned the $25 bag of Acana food that my dog thought was shit food anyway. Funny thing is, I visited my home store in Granada Hills to return it yesterday, but decided to come to this location because they have fresh food available and GH does not. Nice people, *very* specific stock -- if you're looking for something specific, you'll be out of luck. They have only what they have. I have both cats and dogs, but I came here today for cat things. Not a good place to go. For instance, they have 17 or so aisles full of things for dogs - food, sweaters, toys, collars... but have 3 or 4 smaller aisles for cat stuff, including food and litter. I went in for a cat collar, and they had six. Not six styles or six shelves or six colors... just six collars. Should be renamed as 'Dogco'. read more

Time to get a home pet!! In the past, I had a cat, rabbit, and a lot of parakeets, but now I wanted to try a small animal. I had set for an hamster or a guinea pig, but I got myself Three [Blind & Female] Mice. I came in at opening time at 9am and the employees are hard at work. So many working on the fish and reptiles and many others just stacking supplies. I guess this is a very dedicated store. I signed up for a Petco Pals Card since its like a grocery card. I am fascinated with the reptile section. It took me awhile to find the gecko and some weird dragon. They camouflage themselves pretty well. One frog scared the hell out of me. Well, on to the small animal section. The small animal sections (rats, birds, mouse, guinea pigs, and etc.) seems to not have a lot of animals, but for a reason. Some were hiding...lol. I did notice the Cockatiel following me and imitating my movements. I wish I could buy it, but the cockatiel costs around $300. Yikes, the bird is so adorable!! After looking, I decided to get mice. Three female mice. At the time, I was wondering why they were all females, but now I know...THE CRAZY BREEDING!! Before I choose my mice, I need to get my basic equipment. I purchased a Two-Level Hamster/Mice Cage for $28.34 (without Petco PALS Card- $31.49), East Comfort Sifted Softwood Bedding for $5.99 (without card for $6.99), and VitaPrima Formula Food for $6.29 (without card for $6.99). Now the price for 1 mouse is $2.99. Since I bought 3 Mice for $8.97. My total was $54.42. Yeah, it may sound expensive, but its my first pet investment if there is really any income..lol I had fun and still excited to see my pet mice. I have named one of the mice, Rachel. I have lived in the area 20 years. I have had so many bad experiences at this Petco. From the grooming people being immature and rude to lately a girl named Adrianna was so unbelievably rude. Firstly, she rang me up wrong and argued with the price. When I took her back to the dog food to show her, she made up some reason why the price was not for me. I used my 3 bucks I had earned in points, thinking that would be off the sale price. Makes sense. But they used my 3 bucks and said that was the sale price, ignoring the price on the food in the isle. Anyway, once in the back of the store, I had my dog and hands full and was standing there and barely touched into her as I showed her the food and she loudly said 'Don't touch me!'. I could not believe it. She should not have a job there and especially around pets. I never touched her. You know the type. C&C on Van Nuys Blvd and Burbank is the best place to buy your food and those workers are nice and really care about you and your pet. read more

Overpriced on all items. Most petco specific items don't last. The customer service is what kills it. I waited 15 minutes for someone to help me. Even though I heard the announcement over the speaker that someone needed help at least 4 times, no one came. But I did see two employees fake organizing the same spot over and over. The most annoying are the in store reps. Instead of helping you find what you need they just show you their product even if it's not what you're looking for. Yet another minus is that they only carry the super generic versions of pet food. If your dog has allergies or you want a speciality brand with only specific ingredients, they most likely won't have that brand here. Try Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies or C & C pet food for speciality or high end dog food. And try tj maxx on ventura blvd for dog toys and accessories. read more

Today my daughter and I brought in two of our small dogs to get harnesses. We adopted a small chihuahua / shiba inu mix. He is still a puppy and very active. I showed him the receipt/order number and photo of the food. He explained it to his manager, GABBY, and she straight up said "NO" -- while I can see the shelf with my dog's food. She couldn't even grab it while it's right there and I had proof of payment. Gabby is a DISGUSTING AND EVIL human being that should NOT work around animals or in the service of them. I'm never coming here again after knowing a place dedicated to our community's pets is managed by someone who doesn't care about them. read more

Since the remodel this petco has improved tremendously. The staff here is friendly and always engaging with customers. It's clean and always appropriately staffed so I don't feel like I'm waiting in line for hours. My review today though is for the excellent customer service we got from Daniela. She was so helpful and warm in helping us chose new food for both our dogs and our senior cat. She was beyond patient with us. I been coming here for almost two years since I had my dog. The groomer Jessica is the BEST with my Toby. He gets so happy to go there. I do pay attention to his behavior if he maybe dislike going. She does a good job telling me about what she did and tells me what to do to help with his coat shedding. Calls me on time for pick up. read more

I haven't been back since I realized the grocery store across the street from me sells the cat food I normally buy at a much cheaper price. I don't mind if the sizes are different, I'm just glad I don't have to pay $20+ for cat food. I love that they have pet shelters come out every weekend to show off the cats they have up for adoption. But, they really need to hire more associates. Every time I have been there, there have only been two registers open and I have really had to hunt for sales associates if I had a question about their products. I particularly like the do it yourself dog wash station, my only issue is I wish the air blowers blew warm air, I understand it can't be hot, but it takes forever to dry the pup with cool air, and when people are waiting, I end up leaving with a still partially wet dog, because I feel rushed. Creole in the grooming department would hands down be the best groomer I have ever been too at any Petco. I took my one Pomeranian & mixed Pomeranian for a full cut, wash, nail clipping, etc. and she truly listened to what the customer had to say. I did not want them coming out shaved or with an awkward haircut, like it has been the few times I've decided on taking them there. Even though I specifically given them direction on how I want my dogs to look. I requested a light trim 1/8" or 1/4" to maintain a teddy bear "look" and she succeeded. They came out just the way I wanted them to look. On top of that, she was a very friendly, customer oriented lady who truly listens to what you have to say about your pets needs. Once the return was done I was told that I had 2 minutes as they close at 9:00p. I have been going to this location for almost 3 years. Their groomers are the best. I have a little Yorkshire terrier poodle mix and they make her look like a star. I have had different groomers and been so impressed each time. They are also just very kind and informative. I can't say enough about them. I don't usually write reviews, but the experience I had at this store prompted me to do so. Yesterday I went to Petco to return a vacu-sealed unopened bag of $60 dog food (unfortunately before we opened the bag we found out our pup is allergic to one of the ingredients in the food!). We tried to return the bag last week, but because my wife didn't have my credit card, the return could not be done. We returned to the store with the card to return the bag yesterday. Unfortunately they told us we could not return the food for our money back because we were 3 days late. Petco has a 30 day return policy to get your money back. The cashier said because we were so close to the cutoff that she would ask the manager for permission to override the policy. My negative rating is NOT DUE TO THE POLICY. I understand store policies. My negative review rests solely on the Manager's (FELICIA'S) shoulders. Even though she was standing next to us, she refused to talk to us, and told the cashier she would only give us store credit, not our money back. I very nicely asked if they could make an exception because Petco doesn't currently carry the type of food I needed and I could use my $60 elsewhere and because we only 3 days late. Rather than nicely telling us it could not be done, which I would have understood, FELICIA, the MANAGER, walked away from us, ignoring us. Apparently organizing dog treats on the Biscuit Bar was more important in Felicia's eyes than customers. The cashier was baffled at her manager's actions and apologized on her behalf. The blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, or customer appreciation is why I will no longer go to the store. As suggested by the cashier, my wife and I headed to a different Petco to attempt to get our money back. En route to the different store I called Petco to file a complaint against Felicia. Again, NOT FOR THE POLICY, but for the way she treated a customer of her store. Petco Customer Service found her actions so vile that they immediately called the store, with me on hold, to see if they could appeal to Felicia to just give us our money back. She refused. Petco said they would speak with her boss in an attempt to get our money back, but I told them that wouldn't be necessary. I wanted to file a complaint about FELICIA, not about my disappointment of not getting my money back. We ended up going to the Petco on Ventura & White Oak. They happily gave us our money back. We apologized that we were several days late on the return, and would not let that happen again. It was an effortless transaction. Take a note, Felicia. read more
