My kids and I often come to Petco after we go to the library close by. Always fun to watch the dogs getting groomed and look at all the animals. The animal manager was at the store and took time to tell us some interesting facts about various reptiles and even took out a ball python out to show us. It was yellow and white with little spots, I think she said it's nicknamed "banana." That level of customer service is always appreciated. Just an update on Petco River rd & Craycroft, I was just in this morning with new rescue Aussie Shepard who even after an hour am walk is pretty frisky. I was able to book grooming appointment with Hannah on referral from neighbor with Aussie too. Hannah was great! The best , professional, friendly , fun with great energy to match the dog ! I was so happy & relieved that Hannah & he had a great grooming experience. He looks great , handsome , cool , & cleaned , trimmed in the right places! He has never been professionally groomed before. I can't emphasize how wonderful Hannah was a true professional & artist both! Grateful thank you Hannah ! read more

Took my dog for grooming. Collected her and she had dirty area. When asked about it staff were rude and argumentative. They said they'd cleaned area even though visibly dirty. Staff engaged in retribution via system of record keeping. Will never use services there again. Use other area groomers! read more

It's Petco, like all other petcos. I have never used grooming here. I'm just here to tell you whatever petco you shop at check their website and see who they price match with. By doing this I got a bottle of conditioner listed for $5 on their webpage (in store sale price was $8!), poop bags for $15 (sale price in store $22), and a discount on food too. They're super accommodating about changing the price you just have to show them on your phone the price you found. It takes a little bit of time but the savings can be awesome! 76$ dollars for my dog to look brushed out and thats about it. No bow or bandana... I had to ask him if I can have a bow for her hair. Chris was the groomer and it took him about an hour and a half... which is super quick and it looked it. Sorry Chris you were pretty rude bringing the receipt out to us while we were shopping for dog treats and ready to spend more money in the store, it was basically a "friendly" way to tell us to come get our dog. No one working in the aquarium area, Lena had to help... she did the best she could. All in all a very rude place to come and get your dog groomed along with mediocre service.... The Petco on River Rd seems to have the magic touch with our pets. We've had two dogs who were challenging to bathe and groom, and our only success was here. Our pup Olive is extremely averse to having her nails trimmed but today Lena successfully kept Olive calm and happy and was able to complete the job with a smile. All the groomers are friendly and really know what they're doing. We won't go anywhere else now. read more

I take my std poodle in every 3 weeks for either grooming or a bath. Hannah is always welcoming and sweet with Happy. Madison is his groomer who consistently does a great job at a casual poodle cut. This week was for a bath only. But sure enough, without me even asking, she also cleaned his face and hygiene area. I really appreciate the patience and attention they give Happy. Even tho they are crazy busy. I also take my almost 15 year old std poodle in every once in a while for a clean up. Kristina gives her the senior VIP treatment and gets done what she can. But always aware of how much Nadia can tolerate and doesn't over stress her. I am so pleased to write this review for the gals at Petco (river road) grooming! read more

Very patient staff and you can tell they obviously love dogs. They seriously care about how the dogs are doing and their grooming is beautiful and well-priced. I have to say I would not go any other place. Very nice staff and they get my pets in quickly and out just as fast because I dont want them sitting around in a kennel all day like some groomers do. Amanda is the best.. I literally ran to petco to get a fish tank pump to pump out unwanted debris in my reserve reservoir. Amanda helped me cut it accordingly and put it together for me . She took the time to explained to me step by step on how to use the device as I explained to her my unique situation. It worked perfectly as planned. Complete incompetence. I went there last October 17th and bought $200+ worth of product. One of their employees, a big-short guy with black hair, charged my card 3 times. I have been dealing with their online customer service for the past for months and they continue to not help me. The employees are super helpful and typically go out of the way to be pleasant and kind. The store is always nice and clean, with enormous variety. Shopping here gets very pricey. As in, ouch at the register. Where else would people pay 9.99 for a feather on a stick? I'd hope in the future they could feature more deep discounts, double coupons, and specials. One less star because: The Pals Rewards could/should be given *at the register*, not forcing customers to have to go sit down and go online to add points to their Pals rewards card. read more

Brought our dog in and only one groomer there and 3 other dogs waiting to get booked in. Picked her up 2.5 hrs later as instructed and groomer was very tired saying it had been quite the day. My dog was acting traumatized and was extremely perfumey (not just a scented spritz) and immediately started scratching. Later that evening one of my cats developed extreme FHS and was super spastic all night. In the morning we noticed our dog was ill and drooling. My husband and I were developing allergic symptoms. I examined my dog and saw talcum-like powder all through-out her coat (not dander). You could see it floating in the air all around her. I immediately rinsed her in the tub then woke up a neighbor to get dog shampoo. I then washed her several times but the smell remained strong. We put everything we could outside (which we later brushed off and vacuumed before bringing back in). I vacuumed the whole house and we wiped off every surface. We put sheets and pillows etc in the dryer. It was quite the morning! Luckily everyone started to improve once we did this. We don't know what product, or short-cut, was used but people need to beware of this happening here. read more

I tried and tried here. Last grooming of my dog was so awful the groomer actually apologized. I felt bad for both my dog and the young groomer who must have just started. I actually made another appointment for today and tried several times trying to call to see if they had up to date vaccine records. So, I drove there to check. They said they had air problems so could just trim my dogs nails. I was ok with that as the grooming is not the best. I showed up at the time they told me only to be told everyone had gone to lunch and I could wait for them to come back. I only went here because they are super cheap. My bad, my fault for giving them several chances. It's really low-end grooming place with no one who seems in charge. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. They're very nice to our dog and she's very relaxed when we go in. They have a new dog food called Spot Farms (dehydrated), our dog loves it. They also have good healthy snacks and treats. The big highlight is Hannah, the pet groomer. Our dog is usually a little nervous, but Hannah made her feel very comfortable; and she had the idea for me to hold her while standing so she could clip her nails quickly and safely. She was awesome! I have to recommend Hannah who trimmed our dog's nails in their grooming area. We were just walk ins with our beloved newest dog "Harley". We had to wait about 30 min. but that was no problem. We walked around and checked out all the pet supplies so we passed the time along. Hannah is about the sweetest animal loving person I have ever encountered in any setting such as this. Her warmth and capability were stellar. Of course, all the employees were helpful and allowed us to give Harley some treats while waiting. I will go back again and ask for Hannah. read more

I enrolled my high-strung, skittish, and extremely shy standard poodle puppy in Puppy Obedience Level One at the Petco on River Road with Doug Gattis as the instructor. Doug was calm and patient and my poodle finally began to trust him. I also participated in the learning process so that I could work with her at home between lessons. What we learned has and will always be life-saving commands. The most important thing is to stay with it until the end and don't get discouraged. You will get results. Also, if you don't have time to practice during the week, don't worry. Doug doesn't scold you for not doing your homework! I had a lot going on in between lessons but I went to the lessons and progress was still made. We are signing up for Puppy Obedience Level II. read more

We have a new puppy and signed up for obedience training at this location (love the trainer). The coupon package they gave me less than a month ago as part of the class cost had coupons for products that were unavailable or the coupons were all expired which I had not noticed. The cashier was rude and dismissive. Customer service at this location is horrible. After dropping a few hundred bucks on this new puppy and her supplies in this location, I will never spend another penny here. read more

I had a very bad customer service experience at this store. I returned a leash that I bought a couple of months ago because it released without warning twice on walks. I was offered a store credit but asked for my money back because the leash is defective. The store manager looked for the transaction with my card and told me that he could NOT FIND ANY TRANSACTIONS WITH MY CARD NUMBER IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS more or less in that tone. Maybe I bought the leash two and a half or three months ago. Clearly, this is all my fault, or so I was made to feel. In the last several months, I have bought two harnesses, a leash, enzyme cleaner, an antler and a grooming at this store, though clearly I am not considered a valued customer. No problem. My only complaint is the layout is very disjointed & never seems to be an employee around to help find anything. The staff at this Petco are always so friendly and go above and beyond in their customer service. I go shopping with my dog, a crazy and hyperactive border collie, and every staff member makes sure to give her a biscuit and a scratch behind the ears when she comes in. Just today they gave me a complimentary bag of biscuits for no reason, other than they love my dog. Also, just today I decided to try out the grooming services for the first time. Usually I take my dog to higher-end groomers, but I had a gift card to Petco so I thought I try them this time. I was a bit hesitant to bring her to a corporate chain store for grooming, as they can be really hit or miss, but I'm glad I did this time! For half the price of my old groomer, she got an excellent groom. Her coat was evenly cut, exceptionally clean, and she smelled great. My dog has anxiety issues and, due to an abusive past, can be really unpredictable around new people/environments. She hasn't had the best report card from former groomers and veterinarians. However, the staff here were very welcoming and immediately made my dog feel calm and safe. She seemed super happy when I picked her up, so I'm guessing she approves of her new groomers. I'd highly recommend them for people searching for an affordable, yet quality groomer. read more
