This is the only Petco I have been to with awesome customer service. They always have what I need for the most part and even have fun little food sample packs at the checkout. One special reason why I really like this location as well is because one of the employees helped me find some little cute dog toys for my family dog's grave. He could tell I was really upset and was so helpful and comforting. The layout of this location makes everything easy to find too! It's pretty cool when I ask my dogs if they want to go to Petco and they get excited! For that reason alone, they get 4 stars for making my pups happy. The only downside to this location, like most places in LA, is the parking. The lot is tiny and the spaces are even smaller. You may be better off finding street parking in the neighborhood behind it. Other than that, it's a great location! I've Been bringing my dog here for over a year to wash and groom him. They are always so nice and friendly and so gentle with him as he is a very shy and timid pug. Be careful, don't let Damian groom your dogs! I had an extremely poor experience! He lectured me because my golden doodle had a lot of tangled hair and was very matted. This is true, we've been traveling a lot during the summer and did put off grooming our dogs. To start he didn't even want to take my dog, saying that she was too tangled and her skin was irritated. I was confused because if the groomer couldn't do this job, who would? When I mentioned this seemed unreasonable because that's the groomers job he was bothered and lectured me about caring poorly for my dog... the called the manager to see if he could approve grooming my dog. When I picked up my dogs, I could not even recognize her, he had taken his frustrations on her, totally unfair, he shaved EVERYTHING unnecessarily! His pet advocate attitude went overboard. I honestly believe that he was trying to punish me for being a bad pet owner but took his anger out on the poor puppy. The dog did have bad tangles all over her bottom section and her legs, but her face definitely had enough hair to work with. It's outrageous that this person who gave me a hard time about my pet owner responsibilities, takes it on his own to shave her COMPLETELY as a punishment to me or something. This is inappropriate behavior and he should just do his job and stop trying to be some kind of crusader. Please look at these before and after photos of my dog and some of the whole pack. read more

do...do they know how to cut pomeranian fur? we specifically asked for half an inch. they almost shaved him down to his skin. his fur isn't growing back properly anymore after a few months. so so so incompetent and infuriating. please learn how to cut dog fur properly or at least do some research so you don't screw up other people's dogs. pomeranians specifically have double coats and if you cut past a certain point there's a chance it doesn't grow back properly which is what's happening to my dog right now. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. I used to enjoy coming to Petco but the staff and general manager on duty are very unprofessional to say the least. I had a grooming appointment for my dog before the holidays. Dani in the grooming department cancelled my appointment due to their staff calling out of work. I called in to see why they cancelled without my permission or rescheduling. Dani was very rude, unpolegtetic and had a very bad attitude as if this was my fault. I let him know I didn't like his attitude and not to talk to me this way , he then said that I can find another appointment elsewhere and that he was not going to help me and hung up. Mind you I asked to speak to their general manager, I had to call back several times before I actually spoke to their general manager. Once I spoke to the general manager he gave me a generic excuse and didn't address the manner in which Dani talked to me, a paying customer. He advised that he would call me back to try to accommodate me with a appointment on Monday. I never got a call back which isn't surprising. Never going back to this store or Petco. They need to learn customer service and not to talk down to people. Very disappointed, stay clear of this store and save your money. read more

Eric was very rude. I bought two cat litter refills which was advertised at $9.99 in store. After being rung up, I realized I was charged $10.99 for both refills. I went back to the sign of the price and took a picture. I got back in line and waited to speak with him again to inform him about the incorrect price I was charged. I showed him the picture and he left to go check the price. He came back to inform me that I was wrong about the price and that the sign is old. I said okay and got out of line. I went online to see that the price was in fact $9.99. I got back in line and informed him about the online price when he finally honored it. He was very rude and had an attitude the whole time. I should not have to get in line 3 times to get the price that I was suppose to be charged the first time. i received no apology, just a rude attitude the whole time. This is mainly for their puppy training. Don't choose the trainer with gaps in their schedule. While I knew that upfront, after my 3rd/4th session my trainer told us that she was going to a different store. While it's great she had a promotion, but this was so abrupt and it left my last two training sessions a mess. We got a new trainer, who was a nice gal. But just overall inconsistent training over the course of 2 months. I started training on June 5th Saturday, and my last class was supposed to be July 17th, guess what?! My last training day hasn't happened and it's been 3 weeks. I showed up that Saturday, and no one bothered to call me that class had been cancelled. I then get a text the following Friday that class was going to be cancelled again and they thought I was informed. I'm not even going to bother going to the final class because it's been almost a month since my last class. What a waste of money. I am so angry at the way this has been handled. Clearly a lot of mismanagement at this store. And guess what, my puppy's issues weren't really addressed. We came in for Puppy level 1, he is now 6 mos and is incredibly reactive to other dogs. Never really helped address his socialization / reactive issues. I'm going elsewhere for dog training. Don't do it here. read more

Love, love, love this Petco and more specifically the grooming staff!! I always bring in my pup and won't go anywhere else. Ashley always works on him and does a phenomenal job. I can tell my dog enjoys his time in the salon. When he comes out he always looks and feels his best. Ashley goes over what she did for him that day in person and gives me a "report card" for his visit I love that!!! Colby, the manager at Studio City, had to clean up the mess that North Hollywood did to me. Let me explain. I went in to buy a minnow. The guy in North Hollywood talked me into to mosquito fish which by the way are minnows. He said they weren't. He said they would get along. The size difference made that impossible. Then one of the fish was pregnant so now I had another problem when she would give birth I would have 60 fish. North Hollywood didn't want to deal with me and told me to go to Studio City. Here is where Colby comes in. I explained the problem. He said he would take the fish back or take the babies or both since I had a male and female the problem would repeat itself. I had to bring those two poor fish back. It broke my heart but I had to He said they would be adopted out to good homes because people like mosquito fish. Still when I buy a fish and put it in my tank I do it because I want to keep them not take them back and forth. He offered me a refund. The fish cost less than a dollar so instead he gave me a can of fish food for my inconvenience. Colby is a good manager but he shouldn't have to clean up the mess of another story. This is the best pet salon hands-down. The staff is friendly and totally professional, and seem to go out of their way for every customer's pet. They give my dog Oreo so much attention and really handle him like he was their own pet. From the time I drop him off to when I pick him up, I can tell he has been well-card for, not to mention impeccably groomed. Oreo usually gets a bath and they also brush his teeth and clip his nails. Used to go to this store all the time until I saw a dog take a pee on some low self cat food cans.... so I guess that happens when you let animals into your store, but the fact that the employee just wiped them off with some windex, didn't move any cans just the fronts, and walked away is what gets me. They carry a wide selection of fine cat foods including the fancy, natural kind with which FRT and BvS are spoiled (no Friskies for the Prince and Bitchy Princess). For those dog loving Angelenos, of which there are many, don't worry, Petco can take care of your little pooch's needs. They even have obedience classes. The dog selection eclipses the cat selection, which is not surprising in this catist society. You can also bring your dog into the store. It makes for an adorable trip when you're standing in the checkout line with a cute, mini-dog sniffing your basket. It's less adorable when a ginormous, bear-sized dog whom is much, much, much larger than you, stares you down with a certain look in it's eyes ("better run bitch!"). If you're not shopping for the two most popular pets in the country, maybe you have a small animal like a rabbit or a hamster - worry yourself not, Petco has food, treats and toys for your furry friend. If you own a more exotic animal, they've got something for you too. I was once fascinated and disgusted by a bag of crickets at the checkout counter. Thank goodness for me they were in a bag. Not so good for the crickets, those suckers were some animal's dinner. It's not the largest Petco I've been to, but it's adequate. The parking lot is a mess though. It's way too small - almost as if it were designed specifically for Mini Cooper and Smart Car drivers. I cannot tell you how many times I've shaken a fist (within the safety of my car) at a Hummer taking up 3 valuable parking spots. If you're not already signed up, get a PALs card. Helping to find animals good homes is a noble cause, confining them in small cages is horrific and cruel. The kittens have NO toys and are in cages slightly larger than a shoe box. Animals are not shiny objects for sale on store shelves and they deserve to be treated with some respect. Put them in bigger cages and give them something to do with their energy and curiosity. Every cat/kitten in there was asleep. What else could they do? How would you like to be confined in a cage all day? I will no longer give one penny to Petco. Had a terrible grooming experience with Petco in Studio City with Damian!! My toy poodle came home with a gash in her little itty bitty thigh that was still bleeding when we got home. My other dog had razor burn on both sides of his neck! Looks like the clippers went extremely close to the skin! Leaving him itchy and pimply not to mention both my babies are still in pain and discomfort! It's been three days after this traumatic incident. They are still in pain, don't want to walk, poop and they're both shaking!! Took them to the vet that Petco referred us to and they weren't any help! Didn't write down the exact wound! Not sure what thats about but definitely A RED flag! Petco did refund us the money but that is not nearly enough for what they put us all through just arriving back in LA! I did go back to get our refund and the dumb groomer didn't bother to apologize, didn't want to see the pix (proof) of what he did. I know accidents happen but you need to recognize the problem especially if you want to be better at your job! Especially when you're dealing with these innocent lil fur babies that can't speak up! This store is the worst petco. I have tried to buy my cats wellness foods here many many times and they are always out of it. I told the manager every time I have gone and she said she would order more and call me. Never received a call. The staff are useless. I called to ask if they have a single carpet covered scratch post about 3 feet high and the guy said they do and he would put it up front. When I got there he had a three tiered at least 6 foot tall jungle gym on hold for me? I looked for what I wanted and they only carry 1 foot high single scratch post- I guess for a kitten? I generously gave the store 2 stars because the parking is good and they made the store nicer with much needed renovations. The store used to smell and was very dirty. I won't try and go there again to buy food or cat posts. It is a waste of my time every time. read more

If I'd written this review a year ago I would have given this Petco 2 stars. It had a poor lay out, long lines, and it just looked OLD. On top of that the parking SUCKS. Well, I stepped foot in there for the first time in probably a year yesterday and I have to say somethings have changed...and some haven't. Things that have changed: The store is completely redone. It looks NEW and looks like a Petco. I didn't venture into the deep dark corners of the store as everything I needed was up front. Check out counters are new, the lay out is nice. Things that haven't: PARKING SUCKS. Yes, I know you can go underneath, but sometimes I STILL can't find parking here. If you REALLY want to go in you can park at Ralph's and sneak over, but still. There are better Petcos and pet stores nearby that you can go to. Other things of note: I had a little bit of trouble finding help, but once I did it was easy. The girl at the check out needed someone to grab something for me and it took forever for them to get it to the front. It would have been easier for me to go grab it and I honestly probably should have. Bottom line: Go to Rusty's down the street. Better parking. read more

I have no idea why this Petco has such bad reviews! I try to avoid the one on Sepulveda at all costs and have been coming to this Studio City location for years now. They've even revamped the place to look even better than before, less run down and stark like some of the other Petcos still are. I've NEVER had an experience with an unhelpful or unkind employee. They've always helped me find exactly what I need, are courteous, and friendly. That's my opinion and I've probably gone once every two or three weeks for the past two years. The parking lot does suck when it's busy but you don't go there for the parking, do I'm still confused as to the poor ratings guys! read more
