This store has the worst customer service. I was in the store today to purchase cat littler Worlds Best Green package and they never have sufficient inventory. I wanted to purchase four large bags and they only had two and one smaller bag. The so called managers would not provide their names nor did they have any name badges. They refused to reduce the price on the smaller bag to adjust if I had bought another large bag. I will not go back to this store but look at other places to purchase my cat litter. I've been meaning to leave a review for awhile now. I normally leave prefect reviews because I really don't like sh**ing on peoples businesses but I'm leaving three stars. I moved too LA about six months ago and I was in dire need of getting my pup groomed. Savanna is my pups groomer and she is the absolute best! Definitely my favorite groomer. Just a little background, my dog is a Bichon mixed with Lhasa, his hair is very long and thick-it can be a bit much. His hair got too long that he needed a new groomer. I made an appointment weeks an advance and it was cancelled but rescheduled over the phone. They never put that appointment in the system and they did book an appointment the day of (when I called), then about 45 mins before the appointment, they cancelled. I give three stars because they hardly ever pick up when you call, when I drop off or pick up my pup from the groomers, it takes them like 15 mins just to see me (I always wait 15+ mins just for them to grab my pup), communication is lacking, and the lack of experienced groomers-they mentioned only one guy (who is ALWAYS booked) can groom my pup. The people that work here are very respectful and I've always been happy with how my pup looks after he gets groomed. Anyways, I will be back every once in a while to get dog food and treats but I'm not coming back to get my pup groomed. read more

I go to Petco A LOT and I have been for years. I've always been met with smiles and greetings at the front but a couple of weeks ago stood out to me and I had to write a review. A Petco employee was standing near the cat adoption wall kennels and petting a cat through the holes in the plastic cage. As I walked in he greeted me with a friendly, warm demeanor and said "Welcome to Petco! I'm Tanner and this guy is my son Sprite (referring to the cat)." It gave me a giggle and I stopped to say hello to the sweet, very affectionate cat this young man was referring to. Indeed, the cat was ADORABLE and it was clear Tanner loved animals -- and especially this cat. He asked if there was anything he could help me with and I had a bunch of questions as I had just rescued a dog. Tanner was knowledgeable about the products, had great ideas and was very attentive and kind as I made my way through the store and he pointed out various items and answered my questions about food, etc.. When I was leaving I told him that he should adopt that cat because the cat obviously adores him and vice versa. He told me how much he loves animals and loves his job -- and I thought to myself "this young man is exactly the kind of person who excels at his job because he is truly passionate about it." He made my visit to a store I regularly visit, a standout experience that made me feel happy. What more can you ask for when heading to a local store? It beats the heck out of online shopping any day of the week to have not just a pleasant experience, but a fun one. ROGER, the manager on duty, was beyond rude. I had bought a fishbowl the day prior to only find the next morning my fish in an inch of water. Turns out, I was sold a fishbowl with an enormous crack surrounding the bottom and side of the bowl. I called immediately and ROGER answered the phone and acted as if my call was a nuisance to him. I told him the issue and he was very dismissive. When I arrived at the store an hour later, EMILY, was able to help me with switching out my item and was very professional, sweet, and understood the inconvenience I had encountered. I asked EMILY for the price to be adjusted on this pricey fish bowl due to the fact that my fish almost died because of their lack of quality control. She told me ROGER (the manager) would have authority over that and not her. Completely understandable. When ROGER came over, he was again very dismissive and told her not to issue one, despite the entire inconvenience they had caused me. He was not courteous and seemed not to care about customers or their being satisfied with their purchase. This is a horrible way to run a company and his leadership, or lack thereof, should not be acceptable by any standards. This is my neighborhood petco but due to the "don't give a crap" attitude of ROGER, I will no longer do business with them which is unfortunate because all the other employees are knowledgeable and friendly. They sold me a leaky defective water dispenser that leaked on first use,I went to exchange it with my receipt and was told 30 days just passed and nope. Nothing states this in my receipt, and I was asking for an exchange. Was a very loyal customer that sent many Rover clients here. Never again. Worst customer service! Put your return policy on your receipt and stop selling junk! If you want us to take back items sooner, stay open later than 7pm. Guess what? Your open hours are my working hours. This review is for the clinic... the store is fine. Things to know before you book an appt: 1) They ask you to come 10 mins early, but they take people in the order of their appt, not arrival. So if you do (I did) but others don't (they didn't) then you wait until they are seen. Result: I waited over 30 mins for my appt, with two totally stressed out cats. 2) Check your own records -- the reminder they sent was wrong, so when I got there they advised the kitties were due for their FeLV and that they REQUIRE a test (more $$) before giving the vaccine. I understand why, but my cats have limited outdoor access and do not have interaction with other cats. I get them vaccinated out of an abundance of caution, so in the past I did not purchase the RECOMMENDED test before getting them vaccinated. No longer an option at Petco. 3) Finally, I chose to get the dewormer anyway since I'd already waited, assuming they'd at least get a quick once over exam. Nope. Vet didn't check their eyes, listen to their chests or check their temp like he did for the dogs ahead of me. Bottom line: $70+ for deworming and nothing else. Not for freaked out cats, don't bother showing up early and check your own records so you know what to expect. read more

I booked an appointment two weeks ago since that's all they had available,after waiting two weeks As I walked in with my Maltese I was told that no one can groom my dog since an employee called out. Never called me in advance as a courtesy so I will not drive there on a Saturday in vain. Spoke to a store manager Lissette her attitude was rude , horrible customer service and she didn't care to resolve the issue. Worse pet grooming service ever, Damien "groomed" my dog charged me for an extra bath package and left my dog looking like a mess. Uneven coat didn't clean up his butt area, face, didn't buff nails as said he would. Nails are still long. Awful service. Received a text that my dog would be ready at 4:45 showed up at 5 and he still wasn't ready, nor did they care to come up to the front desk and let me know what was going on, didn't answer phone. I am totally done with Petco and I hate that I still go here - but it is literally two blocks from my house. First, their staff are not particularly well-informed, or all that friendly. Second, be VERY wary of their discount and buy one get one free (or half off) promotions. They are shady and try to claim there are fine print and distinctions that don't really matter. For instance, I had two bags of Hill's food and they both were labeled buy one get second at half off. And they were different Hill's food types and they were arguing with me that it had to be the exact same type of Hill's food (which none of the tags said). Finally, Petco's website and Google both say this store opens at 9am Sunday when it does NOT (screenshots below taken just this morning). It actually opens at 10am. Learned this the hard way today when I went there and the woman just waved her hands at me and said I don't know why it says we are open. No "I am sorry", no "I will let corporate know" - and come on, I can't be the first and only person to ever show up on a Sunday at 9am. Honestly I hate myself every time I go here because nothing about the experience feels good (except for my donation to help a homeless pet). Chewy and Amazon have broader selections, competitive prices and it arrives right to my door. read more

ALWAYS find parking. ALWAYS stocked with my dog's food and treats. ALWAYS fully stocked in EVERYTHING! I buy Blue Wilderness with chicken for meals & Frutables Pumpkin/Banana as treats. I highly recommend both. I have a German Shepherd and this combo keeps her lean and energized. Although I never stray from these two products I notice that all the other food options are also always stocked. By far the Petco with the most toys. Hardy walk out without a new toy for my little babe. The KONG toys are the best for chewing. Love this location! Staff is consistently attentive and happy. They do a great job keeping the store organized and clean. AND! If you are a cat person looking for a cat - every time I come here, I see tons of kittens in need of a home. read more

If you take the time and get to know these people, I guarantee NO other pet store even comes close. While we don't buy our dog kibble here, we still love coming in because we have the best time with our dog trainer (Parker), and groomer (Damian). Management here have some of the best people, and for a retail company which such critical customers (just reading some other reviews), I think this place takes the cake when it comes to making customers happy (and I'm the pickiest pet parent of this solar system). Petco Studio City is amazing. It feels like a small neighborhood pet store because they usually have the same friendly people working. Most of the employees know our dogs by name just because each one took the time to talk to us at one point and get to know us. They are so helpful. Also, Parker, the dog trainer, is amazing! We took both our puppies to her for the 6 week training session and we were even able to get a discount because they have promotions all the time. She taught him everything he knows! Came in to get some crickets, couldn't find anyone around to help me so I walked up to the cashier's to ask help for one guy that was there. As soon as I asked him for 8 small crickets and paid, the guy started accusing me of leaving some kind of plastic bin thing and to take it back with me. I told him multiple times it wasn't mine, and even tho he kept saying yes it is and pointing at the camera (implying that they would have it on video) I told him to check it if he wants but I didn't even step to the register when I walked inside, he was standing at the register the entire time so he would have saw me put on the counter which I never did. (Turned out it was another lady's that was shopping there. We looked nothing alike). This place was terribly unprofessional. Specifically the manager. A service or store has to be really bad for me to take the time to write a yelp review. I made a grooming appointment on July 22nd, 2021 for 8am this morning August 9th, 2021. When I arrived for my dog's appt, the store didn't even open til 9am. A manager than realized me confused standing outside the front door and came out to ask what I needed. I then explained that I made this appointment online and she said "we have no control over the online system" I received 7 text/email notifications reminding me of my appointment. It was almost like my appointment didn't exist, and quite frankly the manager didn't care. No heads up was given to me that they couldn't cut my dogs hair that day, nor was I informed that the store wasn't even open at the time I had an appointment booked. This was the manager I was talking to... She said she couldn't reschedule the appointment for me. Unapologetic, and when I said that I was unpleased and would like total compensation for this drastic error, she responded with attitude and said they didn't need my business. If this is how they treat human customers, I cannot fathom how they treat the dogs. This is the last time I'll be dealing with Petco. Ewok and I have been coming to Damien for at least a year or two now. Ewok, my little shih tzu, LOVES Damien. It's the first place we have gone where he actually doesn't mind going back to get groomed! (Says a lot.) This summer Ewok had an ulcer in his eye, and after a whole month of cone/eyedrops, he had to have surgery, followed by another 3 weeks with the cone on. Once he was finally healed I brought him in for a MUCH needed groom. He was very matted and needed a lot of TLC. Damien took such good care of him, and made sure he didn't get hurt. I scheduled an appointment at 6:15pmfor grooming we arrived ON TIME and discussed how the time frame on how long it was going to take.The groomer said it may take longer than expected possibly until 9pm. We were okay with that so we left, after arriving home at 7:45pm I get a call that they couldn't get started on my dog because they close at 8pm as if they couldn't tell me that when I arrived or call me 5 minutes after we left. We understand things happen and if the groomer took long with the previous dog. They DID NOT have to wait more than an hour to call me to tell me to pick up my dog. Worst service! I just picked up my dog from Petco Studio City and couldn't be happier. Damien removed a huge clump of sap that was embedded in Cowboy's hair. He and even took him back when he realized he'd missed a spot. He's very personable and pleasant and appeared to genuinely enjoy my Cowboy. The gentleman who rang me up was nice and helpful and the girls at the grooming counter were awesome as well (sorry, didn't get all the names). I've been using the grooming services for 3 yrs. You can only make an appointment online, no issue except that today when I took my dog in they said "can't take her" her rabies expired last week. I said that if you can only book online then their records should be posted as well. So here's the thing about this Petco. Everything you need in bullet points, and then I'll go into more detail. - They have their own parking lot - Smaller store = Limited selection - Understaffed - Refillable cat litter Other than that, it's a Petco. Those are what makes this location "unique". 1) as I said they have their own parking lot. It's off ventura and it's usually not too crowded. There's also additional parking under ground. So unlike the Ralph's across the street, you'll always be able to find parking here. 2) this is a smaller location. They're obviously limited by space being in the heart of studio city. What does this mean? Smaller aisles, and less selection. You might feel a bit cramped in this location, and if you're looking for a specific, specialty item, they may not have it. 3) Good luck trying to find an employee that works here. There's usually only three: one at the register, one with a huge line if other customers waiting to talk to him, and then one who is "in the back", wherever that is... 4) Petco has their own brand of cat litter with refillable tubs. I don't know why other offices don't do this, but if you buy the tub and bring it back it saves you about $4 per time. Which if you have cats, will save you A LOT in the long run. Another trick is that their litter is unscented, so if your cats are particular about where they pee (like mine are) and they just HAVE to have that fancy cat litter or they'll pee on the carpet (like mine do/will) you can MIX Petco's litter in with the fancy stuff and stretch both out, also saving you money. read more

This Petco has awesome customer service. I came in today with a 'found' dog and they let me borrow a leash to walk the lost doggie around while I shopped for a collar and leash for him. The salesgirl was kind and super-helpful and even walked me through the store to help me find everything I needed. THEN, she showed me another section that had some discounted harnesses since it was clear I was shopping for a dog I didn't know and wouldn't be keeping and she wanted to give me as much of a break as she could. That was really cool. The layout of the store is great. Everything's easy to find and aisles are clearly labeled. Plenty of dog clothes, most brands of food, toys and treats galore and a large, seemingly clean grooming area. Prices are equivalent to every other Petco (it's a chain, obvi) but the staff makes this store stand out. Parking is limited but they do have their own parking lot. It's just shared with a Starbucks so it's first-come-first-serve and there's always street parking when all else fails. A+ for today's experience and they will definitely get my business in the future. And in "Who Let The Dogs Out News," in case you're wondering: Found the little dude's owners and all was right in the world. (Kept the leash and collar for the next ragamuffin I find.) read more

Our kitten is on an organic, holistic diet and while we don't purchase her dry food or litter from Petco (only sold at Tailwaggers and Pet Food Express) we do purchase her Blue Wilderness wet food and treats here. We like their Leaps and Bounds line for play toys and found a beautiful embossed rose ceramic feeding dish, that dare I say it - gives the Oscar de le Renta designer pet dishes a run for their money - literally because this one cost four bucks! and it's the perfect size for small furry friends. This location is walking distance from home which makes it convenient to stop in on our evening strolls and open until 9P. Their parking lot is located behind the building which is where their entrance can be found. Service has always been fine but we are still waiting to be added to their Petco Pal Rewards program and it's been MONTHS. Their system is beyond archaic and is in desperate need of being revamped. read more

Renae is alway so great with my shy baby Belle. The whole staff in the salon is amazing with her. It usually takes months for her to warm up to people but she loved everyone there right away and even gets excited when we pull up in the parking lot. Very thankful for the salon manager taking his time checking her in and making sure she was ok and happy before taking her back.
