My chocolate man
Joshua M.

Well it's my first time here today, 10/10 experience today came in at 11am and had the works done on this handsome guy. Such SKILLED GROOMERS honestly. I've been to other groomers and they couldn't make him look this handsome. You know the old saying "Sunday's best"? This is a prime example of what dedication and level of precision Sam's green paw really can offer. On a serious note, there's other businesses out there that only care about the money. Not, Sam's they will be my preferred groomers from now on. They took care of my boy and now we're going to run unnecessary errands with this stud of a dog. Thank you very much Sam's green paw you guys rock!

Three men in the room

I'm a professional dog groomer who recently transitioned to mobile grooming. Before that, I worked at a salon offering boarding and daycare. My 9mn old dog has attended daycare since she was 3 months old and has always done great with other dogs. Since I switched jobs, Sam's Green Paw was the closest option, so I wanted to get her set up before traveling. Before the temperament test, I explained everything about her honestly. I told them she's never shown aggression toward people but can be fearful of men. When she was 3 months old, two dogs at her old daycare fought, and a male coworker roughly pushed her aside while breaking it up. Since then, she's been nervous when men reach for her. I was told she'd start with a one-on-one assessment, but that didn't happen. Instead, they immediately placed her in a yard with three male handlers who spent nearly an hour chasing her, trying to pet her. At times one, two, or all three were following her. No one crouched down or let her approach calmly, they hovered over her, overwhelming her. If one male was stressful, adding two more made it worse. She's 30lbs, a small to medium size, and has always been grouped with smaller dogs elsewhere. When I mentioned that, I was told "Here, she's large," which felt dismissive and gaslighting. As someone who works in this field, I know the importance of reading canine body language and respecting thresholds. If a dog is fearful, good handlers adapt! often by having a female step in. Instead, they pushed her past her limit. After nearly an hour of being cornered, she finally gave a small warning, which was valid self protection after so much pressure. She's never bared teeth, bitten, or lunged at anyone before this. The male handler even wore a hoodie! something that can look intimidating to a fearful dog. They refused to move her to the small dog side or allow a female handler to test her separately. Ironically, if I hadn't mentioned her fear, they probably would've placed her with the small dogs, where she would've quietly observed or played without issue. Instead, they seemed determined to prove a point, disregarding her comfort. I'm especially disappointed because aside from the years of experience, I've worked hard to earn my certification through the only state recognized grooming school in California, where I was trained in reading and handling anxious, fearful, and aggressive dogs. Seeing handlers ignore clear stress signals, whale eyes, panting, head ducking, avoidance, was upsetting. When I handed her leash to Jackie and my dog tucked her head slightly, Jackie immediately labeled her "reactive." That isn't reactivity, it's fear. There's a difference between aggressive, anxious, and afraid. A reactive dog lunges or bites when triggered. An anxious dog avoids. An afraid dog shuts down or flees. My dog was clearly avoiding and trying to escape, yet they didn't stop the test or adjust their approach. Instead, they kept pushing until she felt forced to warn them. That's not fair handling, that's creating the behavior you claim to be testing for. To make matters worse, I recorded the entire temperament test. In the video, Jackie pushes my dog off her several times, physically pushing her down instead of calmly redirecting. That's not how you build trust or assess temperament. Despite everything, my dog did great with the dogs and passed her test elsewhere, where the staff actually accommodated her needs and avoided forcing male handlers to corner her. That contrast says everything. I'm sharing this so the company and its handlers understand the difference between a reactive dog and a scared one, and to emphasize the importance of compassion, patience, and correct handling. What happened here wasn't a fair temperament test, it was an unnecessary ordeal for a young, sensitive dog who simply needed understanding.

Whiskey enjoying his Pup Cup!

My wife & I bring our boy Whiskey here to get his nails trimmed when he needs them. The staff is always so nice & love seeing him. In honor of National Dog Day, they had a "pup cup" stand set up where a staff member made him a small treat & took his photo. Love this place!

Cute pup

Love Sam's. It's the only place we take our pup for Baths and haircuts. Never a bad cut! He always looks and smells amazing.

Wolly is a 12 lb, 10 year old Maltipoo who is very social but definitely set in his ways, so we do not say this lightly: we truly cannot say enough good things about the care he received here. From a logistics standpoint, the entire experience was incredibly easy. The flexibility of drop off before noon without needing daily sign ups was a huge win for us while traveling and juggling plans. Pick up as late as 7 PM was equally helpful, and the pricing felt very reasonable for the level of service. What really stood out was the thoughtfulness around safety and care. The facility is secure and gated at drop off, and we watched staff carefully manage dog flow right at the entrance. At one point, a team member even positioned themselves between our children and a larger dog out of an abundance of caution. That level of awareness told us everything we needed to know. We also appreciated the small but meaningful details. There is a live camera so we could check in whenever we missed him. They feed dogs separately and sanitize the area afterward, which gave us real peace of mind. But the true highlight was the caregivers. The way they greeted Wolly each day, how gently they handled him, and how clearly they knew the dogs in their care made this place special. Every afternoon we received the most adorable photo of him, and by midweek he was literally running inside, tail wagging, completely comfortable and happy. As dog parents, there is no better feeling than knowing your pup loves where he is and is being looked after by professionals who genuinely care. Wag Hotels Hollywood made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Wolly. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in LA.

They have cameras, so I could peek in on her anytime (which, yes, I absolutely did). She had the best time. They even emailed me photos of her living her best life and sent home a report card at the end of the day. This is officially my go-to spot anytime I'm in the office. She gets out of the house, gets great stimulation, and I get peace of mind knowing she's happy--away from backyard boredom and the lovable chaos of my kids. Win-win.

Will not be returning to this establishment…read more My husband called on Saturday (5/2/26) to ask if they accepted walk-ins, as we recently moved to the area and were looking for a new groomer for our dog. The receptionist told us to come in right away since we were only a few minutes away. When we arrived, the same receptionist acted as if she had no idea about the call. We had to repeat ourselves, which made the interaction feel awkward and unwelcoming from the start. Instead of greeting us warmly, she seemed dismissive and inconvenienced. Things got worse when our dog was taken to the back. She is a small dog (under 20 lbs) and naturally a bit anxious, which we communicated. Rather than handling her with care, the staff member repeatedly pulled her by the leash when she hesitated, which clearly scared her. No effort was made to comfort her--no treats, no gentle approach, and no attempt to pick her up to help her feel safe. After seeing our dog being handled this way, we immediately asked for her back and left. As feedback to the owner: friendly customer service and gentle handling of animals should be the standard. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
