I have a 20 gallon fish tank and would like to buy 2 gold fishes, the sales girl names Sienna told me she won't sell 2 gold fishes to me but only one because for a 20 gallon tank space can only hold one fish. I told her i was told by many sales person i can have no more than 3 so i only want to buy 2. But she insisted she won't sell 2 gold fishes to me. We argued for 10 minutes still won't sell 2 to me. I was so pissed off asked for manager she said she is the manager. I went to the front desk ask if there's another manager luckily the lady at cashier said she is the general manager and she would help me to get the 2 fishes. Mallory (in the store) and Angie (grooming) called and went above and beyond to make up for gabby's awful attitude! They were beyond sweet, helpful and genuine. Their customer service and attitude was out of this world incredible! Way above par over all and you can see their true love and compassion for the pups/pets. This store is very dirty. The rug at the front door looks like it has never been cleaned or vacuumed. The floors in the entire store seems like they sweep down the middle but no detail cleaning. There is a lot of dust on some of the dog food bags. Every time we go here there is food on carts in the middle of an isle that never seems to be put away. I've had dogs my whole life that I've brought to the groomers, but I have never had an experience like this. I brought in my 7 month old puppy who by the way lives with 4 college students meets new people every day and has anything but separation anxiety. Everything is going well, he's sniffing around figuring out what he's doing, the woman at the register is extremely nice but then his groomer comes in. Her name was Trisha T. He Ofcourse at first wasn't thrilled with being thrown into a new place and an unfamiliar face but he definitely did not act out it any way or Atleast I've noticed, he whimpers a.but but she finally gains his trust and he allowed her to touch his feet, ears, etc. then it came to his mouth which he didn't like. Instead of understanding that was probably a lot in such a short amount of time she proceeds to tell me that he can't be seen and he needs to go see the trainer, and proceeds to give me brochures on trainers and how to deal with a dog who "has" separation issues. She was extremely rude and I hope this review helps. Took my Maltipoo in for his very first haircut. As parents to our little Benji we were so excited to see what he would look like after, however our excitement quickly came to an end when the groomer called us to say she couldn't finish because our dog was thrashing. Before she began, she stated how she was off in 1.5 hours and a haircut for a maltipoo takes up to 2-3 hours. Why did she confirm his appointment then? She called @ 5:50; which is 10 minutes before she was off @ 6 pm saying she couldn't finish. She clearly wanted to go home on time and leave our dog half haircut.. the manager stood there saying NOTHING at all.. it's probably happened many times before. We took our dog in for a grooming, and the groomer was very nice, and did an adequate job, for less money than a private grooming. However the store itself was severely understaffed, the floor was dirty, the items on the shelves were dusty, the bathrooms were gross. We hope they will hire some janitorial help asap. The reptiles here are consistently malnourished. Every time I go in there, multiple species have a low humidity, dirty cage and unclean water bowl. I myself own 11 various reptiles & know for a fact chameleons don't drink from a water bowl, and the one panther chameleon they had there had a dirty water bowl with a humidity of 20%. Should be 80% with a misting system, as they drink from leaves. Anyways, if you see something, please say something. read more

This place is a customer service nightmare. The staff selling fish interrogated me when I was trying to buy a couple of .36 cent gold fish. My 4 pound Chihuahua needs her nails trimmed. She won't sit still for me to do it. I take her here for this. The staff are friendly, sweet to my dog and get the job done without stressing out my dog...5 star treatment! I don't need an appointment, they take her right away. This store was big lots of items and reasonably priced, I found the food and when I went up to pay Mike actually said he had a coupon and thanked me for shopping. I was very impressed. Was very happy to find some rodent chew toys I can't find in any of their other stores. Maybe they're discontinuing them but this store still had several. Employee was friendly and polite. I went to buy a 29cent gold fish and felt like like was dealing with fish & game wardens. I asked there extremely rude "aquatic specialist" where there fish tanks were, and she also gave me recommendations on all of them, which was kind of her. After I chose the cheaper fish tank that was not at the top of her list, she rolled her eyes at me and said "why am I even talking to you if you are not even going to take my advice?" I was speechless. She continued to tell me that if I didn't buy a 10+ gallon fish tank for 1 single 29 cent gold fish, it would die, so she refused me service. WTF! We took our standard poodle puppy to PetCo for her first grooming. We picked pet co because there is a large window where folks can watch what is happening. Karolyn suggested going slow for the first time to give Bella a good experience and we loved that idea. Last week she had a shampoo and blow dry. This week (she's now 20 weeks old) we took her in for cut. Karolynn said she would just do what Bella could tolerate and finish later as needed. It turned out Bella tolerated the entire procedure. She is beautiful and happy. Also the charge was very affordable. The other dogs there seemed happy as well. I highly recommend PetCo on Santa Rosa Avenue for pet grooming by thoughtful, caring people. Our Bella will be back! read more

I had an extremely poor experience at this store both with the grooming salon, and the managers response to my concern. I made an appointment and brought my two dogs in for a groom. The day prior I had updated all their shots. The grooming salon states my certificates are incorrect and that they don't show the current rabies vaccination. I've attached them below...looks pretty clear to me. I spoke with the manager who was great at defending his employees, problem here is that they were in the wrong. They have a nice set up. The store is clean and organized. The staff is friendly although sometimes it has been hard to find help when needed. They have live animals that look well cared for. They have good quality pet food. Oh also I wanted to add that we got our cats from an adoption fair at Petco 8 yrs ago which was through a rescue that set up an adoption day there. My wife and kids went in and bought a bearded dragon, after bringing the little guy home we started to notice that he wouldn't move around the cage like a typical bearded dragon, second day his eyes were sunken into his head. So we treated him for dehydration, he continued to not move and barely eat for 2 days. We decided to call petco and see what they say, we spoke with the rudest unprofessional manager I have ever spoke with, she told us our bearded dragon was fine and just lazy! So we took him back and the manager proceeded to give us major attitude and would barely help us. We ended up just getting a refund and leaving the store after I made her and the other employees listen to a little unhappy customer ranting. The store was dirty and there were boxes and cages everywhere, shelves were bare everywhere. Petco you need to hire managers who care about there job and the animals they care for. Oh, one more thing. While we were looking at the other bearded dragons to see if we were gonna exchange, she left without notice and grabbed the bearded dragon that we returned and put it back with the rest of the population. Absolutely no care what's so ever, so if the bearded dragon we returned was sick, now all the rest are. Will never set foot in that store again. Typical reptile mill situation. read more

We go to both Petco and PetSmart a lot, for simple things like a new leash, or a new brush, etc. We also get basic fish supplies and food here, since they have a bigger fish section. The Petco in Santa Rosa seems to have more options that the PetSmart, and so we usually go here more often. Pros: -Big store, so lots of options. -You get dog treats at check-out...which my dog loves. -Always lots of parking. -The person at the register is always friendly. -Cheap prices. Cons: -Never seem to be many workers...meaning no one around to help, and usually only one register to check-out is open. -Stuff doesn't seem to be that high of quality a lot of the time. This is great for getting basic pet items. Good prices, and they have a little bit of everything. That is why we will keep going back! (Although f you actually want to buy live fish, or get your dog groomed, or things like that, I would go somewhere else.) read more

I took my dog to be groomed today but was EXTREMELY disappointed when they turned us away. She clearly just didn't feel like grooming a big dog. He was groomed VERY regularly at their salon and his last groom was a few days before they closed for the pandemic. I made an appointment immediately the day the salon reopened but they told me because he had some matting on his ears she would not groom him at all. I asked if she could just do everything and skip his ears but she refused. As a regular customer and an exceptional tipper this was very disappointing. They will never get my business again.
