Always a good experience in this store! People are always helpful and knowledgeable. I have been going there for my pets needs for years.

We've been Petco grooming customers for over six years and have used multiple locations with consistently positive experiences. Unfortunately, our recent visit to the Sandy Springs Petco grooming salon was deeply concerning and completely out of line with what we've experienced elsewhere. Both of our dogs were checked in for grooming. One of them a calm, sweet King Charles Cavalier Spaniel who loves baths was suddenly described by the groomer as "having a panic attack," which would have been his first ever. The other dog was left at the salon for over an hour without any grooming attempted at all. It appeared they were overbooked that day and simply unwilling to handle the situation. When we asked reasonable questions, the groomer refused to give her name, accused us of not caring about our dog, and hung up the phone on us twice. When we asked to speak with a manager because the situation felt unsafe and poorly handled, we were told to "come pick up your animals" rather than being offered any solution. When we arrived, one dog was returned soaking wet in winter weather, and no one from management came out to speak with us. There was no accountability, no explanation, and no concern shown for the dogs or for us as long-term customers. We have never experienced anything like this at other Petco locations. Until this is addressed, we will not be returning to this salon. read more

I brought my two 10 pound shih tzu's who are very used to grooming, they routinely go once a month. I asked for a short summer cut with a teddy bear face. One is blind and you can basically do anything to her without a fuss. The other can be a little stubborn but always comes home with a great cut. This time she was choppy and her feet weren't even done, not paw pads or nails. they said she gave them trouble with her legs. The blind one was choppy and her feet weren't done as well. Their bellies were not shaved either. I paid 71.00 for each dog. On their website they say the cost for a 10 pound dog is 46. They also charge an extra 6.00 for supplies, first time i have ever heard of that. They did not have long hair when i brought them, they needed a buzz. I am very disappointed with this service, not a good job on either of them. The groomer himself was a nice guy and very polite so I tipped him anyway since he did spend time with them but I will definitely not be going back. read more

This Petco is in the Hammond Exchange shopping center. Parking is easily found in the large and free lot shared by all of the businesses in the shopping center. We walked through the store, looking for a different formula of dry dog food for a senior dog. After looking at the ingredients of a few of the dry dog food brands, I realized that I should go back home to do some thorough research of what is recommended for a senior dog with a sensitive stomach and choose the best one. They have dog groomers at this location, and that area was the first thing we saw upon entering the store. There were at least two employees at the front of the store, but neither one of them took the time to greet customers or ask them if they needed any help finding anything. In fact, no employees even made eye contact with us as we moved through the store. There were some small animals, such as ferrets, guinea pigs and hamsters, toward the middle of the store. I don't really care for the layout of this store. It's awkwardly laid out toward the back of the store. I also don't like that they've closed off the door closest to the registers. Came to this restaurant when dropping off a foster of Angles Among Us Pet rescue. The store is very clean and well organized. Also, the employees were very diligent about making sure my foster had a sanitized cage with fresh food and water. This is important because animals can easily spread viruses amongst each other when being sheltered and its great that they took care to make sure this doesnt happen. I felt comfortable placing my foster here until she gets adopted. #AdoptDontShop read more

I have I have never had such poor service in my life. The staff are completely uninterested in being solution oriented, not to mention the grooming salon, I've never seen such a group of unhappy people. A lot of people don't have jobs right now and would be happy to provide customer care and service. If you're not happy in your job, don't stay. I left Petco with no solutions for my dog who had a flea problem, and I went to Petsmart, who spent so much time with me, without even knowing that I had just come from Petco. At the end of the conversation and at the end of them helping me which they couldn't have judged on my dog more... I told them I had just come from Petco and had not been nearly as lucky with finding a solution for my dog as I was at Petsmart. That was not the first time that they had heard the issue with a customer care at Petco on Roswell Road, and I'm being conservative and how I'm word this. If you care about your pet and their family to you like mine to me, and you want to find a good viable solution without any negative impact to your family member, please please please go to Petsmart. I mainly come here for grooming and maybe a toy or treats occasionally. Im not impressed with their groomers. I have a dog that sheds a ton and it's a struggle to find a groomer that blows her coat really well. I've only experienced one person. Blowing a coats takes 2-3 hours so how in the world is the service done in an hour??? They unfortunately lost me as a customer. Now the store part has always been really great. Almost everyone I have spoken to or dealt with has been really friendly and conversational. read more

I never write reviews but this Petco did the most horrendous grooming to my dogs last week. We asked for a tiny bit of a shorter haircut for each of them for summer. They came back completely shorn - the worst part is, the groomer took it upon themselves to shape their fur into POODLE CUTS. They are cavoodles and always have cute wavy/fluffy hair that is NEVER supposed to be shaped like that. It's a crime honestly. IN ADDITION TO SHAVING THEM ENTIRELY. We obviously did not ask for anything remotely related to what they got and my dogs are so embarrassed and sad now because of how bad their haircuts are. I made an appointment for my cat's exam here in their Vet on 18 March. Even one hour before the appointment time, I received a confirmation text. But when I arrived (in time, even earlier), the Petco staff told me that the Vet was already closed! I do not receive any advance notice as well as post notice. It wastes me 1 hour to go and come back without doing anything! Not to mention how hard I put my cat in the cage and bring her out there (she is very timid). It's an utterly terrible experience! It's a fun place to go Petco! It can be better than Saks 5th Venue! Are it is the Saks 5th Avenue shopping for animals u love. Moreover, I came in to make a return on a dog mat. The mat was defected when I bought it. Me being a new animal owner. Hell, what's a thread or 2 ‍. When I buy clothes it really isn't a big deal! So, I boughts it. It unravel and my dog got sick. I brought it back for a exchange. The manager was having a bad day he came over told me it's past 30 days. I told him I understand that. But! This is a defective item. The string just unravel. I asked him for the 800 number he snatched the paper from the register and wrote 800 on the paper and told me to google it. I told him he was acting like a ass! I told him you don't know who I am in the customer. You don't treat me like that. He called the police ‍ has me escorted from the store and that I couldn't come back. The police asked him. Never got a call from the district manager. Ever. I called the store spoke with Jason and never got a phone call from him in return. I still have the dog Matt I think I paid about 55.00 or more for it. No follow up as much as I spent. Most of all the embarrassing moment and the rude customer service. The racism I experienced!!! I have tried to do business with this store several times. Everytime it's always a challenge for some reason or another. I have a pet with special dietary needs and I brought my prescription with me. However, they would not accept it. After going round and round with the cashier and calling my vet to assist, I still could not make my purchase. i went there to get my dog groomed. I chose the Holloween package deal for $72. 1 hour later i got a call saying she was ready but they couldnt cut her and my total would be $67 for a bath and nail cut (no grinding) thats it. I told her im not paying thats ridiculous and the dog needs to be cut Or they need to adjust the price. After thinking about it i rushed over 5 minutes later to get her. I figured id go somewhere else. I was too late. My dog got buched. All different length. I could have done a better job. They cut the dog.....TERRIBLY. not the first time petco has done a bad job. When i first got the dog 11 years ago i started with petco , she came out traumatized and wasn't able to get groomed for 10 years. I thought petco chaged their store. I expected different service! My review is specific to the grooming portion and more specific to the most awesome groomer out there, TAYLOR! I've tried several other salons. I wanted to take my dog to an exclusive shop with fancy amenities (can you tell I was a first time dog owner? Lol). Eventually I tried Taylor at Petco and I haven't tried another place since. She is so friendly and patient with the dogs. She's sent me selfies while she pampers the dogs and makes them feel like get only client. Every time I puck the dog up, he smells great, looks amazing and I can tell that she really put her all into it. I recommend her to everyone I know and they are always pleased. My dog and I were recently physically assaulted at this petco store 1729 that is located in Sandy Springs, GA by a groomer named Nate (Nathaniel A.) The manager on duty did nothing regarding the incident that occurred. Petco also has not done anything about the incident either. It is a disgrace and despicable how the company does not care about the well-being and safety of pets and customers by allowing an employee to put their hands on my dog and I. I just left here from having my dog in for a nail trim. The grooming salon staff were amazing. Sunny trimmed/buffed my fur baby and she did an amazing job. I couldn't be more pleased. I wanted to give the HUGEST SHOUT OUT to the truly talented Edwin at the Sandy Springs Petco Grooming Dept. Not only did he turn our fur baby into a dog model with his grooming expertise, but we had a scheduling mishap (we came on the wrong day) and he worked us in to the schedule at the last minute- without hesitation! Our collie, Enzo, was pampered and treated like family- he and Edwin became fast friends. Enzo needed a major spring clean up- and Edwin made sure he was well groomed, coiffed, and looked like a puppy again. I will never come here again. I brought my puppy here for the puppy play date. There were owners crowded around the make shift area. There was no order or organization to anything. When I asked how to get my puppy into the play date, I was told to wait in line. The puppy play date was for 30 mins. I apparently and only I was supposed to wait my turn even though that's not how it was for other people. I reached out to Petco through Facebook to ask about it. My first time in this Petco and I was so disappointed in the condition of the store and the staff. It felt like they didn't want to interact with customers but instead wanted to pretend we weren't there and continue with their own conversations. We stood in line while an employee had a conversation with the customer in front of us. She eventually said "I could be checking you out while we talk." Once she finished with the customer we stepped over to her register to check out. She proceeded to sign out of the register. We asked to be checked out and got non verbal attitude (facial expression) from her. As for the fish department, I can't even describe how sad it was to see all the dead fish and the condition of the critter we took home with us. It was missing an arm and part of its foot. We weren't even there for an aquatic purchase but decided we couldn't leave the animal there. I recognize this is a high volume store but I don't believe it should look the way it did. We will continue to shop the Johns creek Petco. read more

Karen and Taylor are the best Groomers in the business. My Yorker used to be terrified at other places, but when I mention Karen or Taylor, he grabs his leash and heads for the truck. He is so happy to go there and they do a great job!! I came in today and Karen did a great job, but one thing I've noticed for years is how the groomers have to constantly answer phone calls. This frustrates me because it takes longer, so I know it has to frustrate them. I pay for the express cut, and this puts pressure to get finished in an hour. It could be very dangerous to move a dog from a table every time the phone rings. This isn't an attack on the groomers, but Petco seems to be taking the cheap way out by not putting someone on the phones to book appointments and deal with the public. I did notice the gentleman at the checkout line twiddling his thumbs while the groomer was killing herself. Before I take my business and about 50 friends and families business from Petco, I've reached out to corporate to give them a chance to reconcile this process. I can't allow my dog to be put in danger because Petco doesn't care. We shall see how they respond to my concerns and I'm hoping they make this right. HOLY CRAP after I wrote this I had a look at the page, the pictures posted on here by I guess Petco are SO COMPLETELY NOT OF THIS STORE. Please, if you are thinking of going here based on the pretty slideshow pictures, you are going to be SO disappointed. It looks NOTHING like this. I used to always have to stop and look at the parakeets in here whenever I was in the shopping center. Then they had a "grand re-opening" where the little guys were on sale, along with some other stuff, and I had to get the guy I had my eye on! ...honestly nothing changed with this grand reopening, maybe just that they added that by the pound dog cookie bar? This place completely sucks for toys for small birds, though I wouldn't say the selection is any better for the bigger ones either. First I think they only sell parakeets, while Petsmart has several types of birds, so this might not be the place for non-parakeet owners in the first place. The toy selection is just seriously miserable and what there is is somewhat overpriced. I got him a cheap cage here and I cannot wait to replace it. It does its job but you have the option of being super cheap or getting something huge and ridiculously expensive. At least the selection for seed is fine. I got that loyalty club card when I was buying all my supplies for dear Seb, but I've since misplaced the card and don't really feel like carrying around the small one. But, every time I give them my phone number, nothing comes up. What's the point then? Even though this place is near home I'm just gonna go over to Perimeter from now on for Petsmart. read more

While I don't always care for the prices the selection is huge and you can find just about anything you are looking for, make sure you sign up for the Petco card for points and added discounts. Vaccinations can be done here for both dog and feline with three different categories to choose from at prices that any pocketbook can handle. Are you looking to adopt..... You have two options the catalog that you can go through with pictures, the age and bio Or they have animals on the weekends right there for you to view up front and on stage, some are a little timid while others are pumped up tail wagging and all just waiting for you to take them home. Customer service at this Petco is hit or miss. It depends on who's working. My cats' favorite kitty litter comes only in 40-lb bags, which is hard for me to lift (especially when I'm in my office clothes). Their parking lot is sloped, so it's difficult to get the bag out of the cart and into my trunk while hooking my leg on the cart so it doesn't slide away. This past time, an employee greeted me at the door in a friendly manner, assisted me in picking up the litter and placing it in my cart, and got it into my trunk for me. I've been visiting this Petco location for 3 years, and this was the second or third time someone has offered to help. Store management: you have some really awesome people working for you. You also have a few iffy ones who never ask if I need help and are generally not very warm. I suggest working on consistency among the staff. read more

On Saturday my family decided to go to this Petco after finding it was closer to home than the East Cobb location we purchased our baby fuzzy (ferret). She needed her nails clipped and figured we would get some more bedding and a comfy bed. The lady who helped us clip her nails was seemingly pleasant, told us about her fuzzies and showed us where to get the bedding. Some of the tips about diet and training seemed nice being that the store who sold us clearly didnt know anything about ferrets. Then she told us about a lovely 8month old who "was returned because the owner didnt take her out to play and so she got really depressed after being returned." That made me so sad. I immediately said yes and took her in my arms as we wandered around the store for more goodies. She was offered at a discount "due to the depression and they just wanted her to have a nice home." After we got home we started noticing weird behavior. She was attacking our baby ferret and was making a total disgusting mess. She would go up to the shelf and stick her tail out of the cage so her urine/feces would go outside of the cage. I never saw such a disgusting mess and it smelled awful (not like my other baby.) While on the way to take her back to the store (it was awful) we noticed she was drooling. We already knew she would shake and I was concerned with her not eating. I decided to look and see why a ferret would drool and walah! Insulinoma. I got really sad because I have heard other ferrents that it is fatal. I called another location because I was at wits end and was told they would exchange her. Was totally clear that I got her at a different store. That wasnt the case. The young lady we spoke to, however, did check and said she appeared to have been "severely dehydrated." I am so angry with Petco. Not only for the fact that we bonded with her already. I cried when I had to let her go, but she needed vet care to save her. I am even more mad at the fact that Petco (at least this location) abuses its animals and sells sick pets. That is a terrible thing to do. When we brought her back we were also under the understanding from the other store that she would just be exchanged out. We get there to the manager who already knew who we were and he acts like it isnt a big deal at all. Totally mind blowing. He kept reverting to the fact a discount was given. SO WHAT!? We were not told this poor baby was sick or dehydrayed. He said "she told you the reason." No..she told us that she was depressed and needed a good home. Thats NOT the same thing. Oh and its my husbands birthday. We lost one of our girls..my babys cage mate..to these people who had the audacity to tell us theyd replace her for the regular price. YEA RIGHT! I dont trust this store to sell anything. I think I am done with this chain. . read more
