I feel Petco is a little higher in price. But they have a good variety of things. Like bedding, kennels, and assorted different types of pets. They seem to have more of the reptiles here than the furry pets here. They do have car adoption but they didn't seem to have any of them for display. They also offer training and a fast variety of fish (30 tanks) Also if you do have snakes and lizards they have plenty of food for them. read more

I went to Petco, Fairview Av in Roseville for the first time with a new (12 wk old) kitten to have his nails clipped. I think I was more nervous than the kitten. What a great experience. They quickly and professionally handled the kitten and the job was done so quickly the kitten didn't have time to get excited. I would say this is probably one of the smaller Petco I have been to. It can get busy at times because of location- near Rosedale Mall, etc. Although I would say most of the time, you're better off buying a product online because it's usually more affordable (compared to major pet retailers in general)- I think the staff at this Petco are pretty knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and gives you honest feedback on certain products based off their experience or what they heard from other customers. If you're wondering, they do have a cat center- but there doesn't seem to be alot of cats there usually. There is a binder full of rescues you could look through and find where they are located. I havent taken my dogs to grooming there because it is a bit expensive for me- but I believe it is pretty much appointment only. Plenty of parking out front as well. read more

Called to see when I could bring my dog in for a nail trim appointment and wasn't able to get through but got the automated response that one can go online create an account etc. and book an appointment... so I did. However, find out 15 minutes later after setting up the account and dog's info, nail trim does not require an appointment, just walk in. I called back anyway out of respect for them and my dog that gets anxious in cars. The lady said just show up no problem, confirmed his shots were up-to-date and said any time before 6. Done. Show up with my dog about 20 minutes to 6 thinking it should be fine for the 5 minute nail trim before they close and she says right away, so sorry, I wont be able to do it because I have this dog I need to finish and then we close at 6. So me and my anxious dog left after trying to make several attempts at an appointment. Left annoyed read more

Compared to the other Petco's I have visited, several staff here are very knowledgeable. Call ahead to make sure there is stock of your item -- very heavy traffic of customers here. If you contract serious fleas ESP from warmer states like we did ( Florida) none of the products offered to consumers are STRONG enough against these pests. First you must wash the pet with a professional flea dip if there are fleas everywhere like our poor dog. If it is early and not a full blown infestation ( ears eyes rectum etc) then you can research online. You need a Growth inhibitor ( methoprene) and an adulticide ( truly kills the adults )-- strongest is permethrin and pyrethrin. Pyrethrin is preferable because it IS NATURAL -- it is made from chrysanthemum flowers and is stays in the air of your home just 6 + hours. Permethrin ( in MOST products is cheaper is man made and if used in higher strengths can force you to stay out of your home 1-2 days. Knock out, a product sold only by Vets is SO $$ ($21-$30 for a tall " hair spray size canister that goes FAST). I did not like Knock out because of cost and the phenothrin it contains -- poison that kills the adults via their NERVOUS system. If you can smell it in the room then it is still dangerous to YOU and your pet ( after spraying). It made me dizzy nauseous headache. If you use this wear a chemical rated mask ( not for dust or paint!) Fleas ARE A NIGHTMARE!!! They reproduce SO fast ( ESP those from our USA South). They go through 4 stages, the last as a pulpa ( cocoon) which can lie in an empty house for FIVE months! Then along comes " Joe human being" or a vacuum -- both creating strong VIBRATIONS which WAKE up the flea and OUT it pops to start everything super fast all over again!!! I spoke w the infectious disease specialist at U of Mn Vet School. She still likes and uses on HER pets, Frontline Plus -- it has been " reworked" she said and improved and REALLY protects ( Impt if you use a " doggy day care " with many other pets) Vet told us that if your pet has an intense case ( all over) then you need to do a professional flea bath with a licensed groomer. And safest for a bad case, find a GOOD VET for just one needed appt. ( read all the reviews). GOOD luck!!! Keep fleas off pets to AVOID the terrible nightmare of getting rid of them‼‼‼ and realize these chemicals in high concentrations do permanent harm to brain eyes skin lungs and ESP children long term. (A LOCAL new internet column published someone who says," Use Diatomaceous Earth... it's safe!!" No it's not -- "it is a SUPER fine dust of PURE SILICA which is GLASS. So when you vacuum it up it goes right through ALL vacuum bags into your air and coats your lungs", according to the excellent exterminator in Florida.) read more

I like how the parking lot is directly in front of the store. Just handy for loading bulky stuff in the car. The cat litter is fairly close and not way in the back like other locations. I invested in the automatic self-cleaning cat box and love the convenience of only changing once a month and that is only putting a lid on the box. The cat is fascinated by the moving rake. I was greeted as soon as I walked in this time and it was very welcoming. read more

I actually thought this location was closed thanks to an empty parking lot on a weekday morning and the darkened windows. Surprise the doors opened but it appeared as not a sole in the store. This place used to be bustling. Perhaps it was just a slow time and day. There may have been more than one employee as I could here murmuring behind some aisles. When trying to check out I stood around and someone peeked around an aisle that was being restocked and came over to help. The Petco card does not produce a discount and I don't know what happens to the points. I was asked to put my email address in the terminal, which I know they already have. I love this place. It has been around forever and was one of the first Petco's but maybe that is part of its charm. I feel very comfy taking my little Teddi shopping here and although I hate to admit it, have even ran in wearing my pajama pants when I need an emergency Bully Bone or treats for the pooch. I do think the prices are a little on the high end and most definitely you can get bargains elsewhere but its convenient for me and the staff is really nice. I only wish they had the same sales in-store as they do online... Also, they open up a register anytime there is more than one person in line....You can be in/out in a few minutes. read more

Love this place. They are usually cheaper than Petsmart and its not as busy because not many people know its back there. I bought a turtle there and actually got a price match from Petsmart because it happen to be on sale there! I know, isn't it weird asking for a price match for a pet? Anyway, tanks and accessories are a little cheaper than petsmart. Even the stuff for cats and dogs is usually on sale. Oh and if you are looking for feeder fish, Petco is 2 cents more expensive, but the fish are a little bigger. read more

PetCo Groomers at Roseville are great! We take both the pooches here and one of our rescue dogs, Ruby, happily walks right in to see Sara. This is definitely NOT the behavior she's exhibited with the other groomers we've tried. PetCo has options for shampoos and other treatments, so depending on the budget, a dog can get a simple wash and trim - or the works, which leaves the pups with trimmed nails, fresh breath, and very nice haircuts. We've since learned of friends and neighbors who take their dogs to PetCo at Roseville. We wouldn't take our dogs anywhere else. read more

Petco grooming - you have to realize our dogs are our kids. This just has to do with grooming. I had bad experience when taking my puppy to get her first grooming done. Called the grooming center and talked to the nicest person about grooming options. She understood that I didn't know anything about this whole situation and was patient and kind. Then I get to the store and end up dealing with a crabby lady, who was super unhelpful and impatient. Everything that she had to say was opposite of what I had heard earlier. She was asking questions and I didn't know what they meant and she didn't care to explain. Since it was her first visit they said they'd just do a cleanliness cut which means I didn't have to pick how short of hair to end up with. Two hours pass and she calls to say my puppies done and I can pick HIM up.. she's a girl! I pick her up and all the fur on her nose and face is shaved all the way down and it's all uneven :( NO idea this was going to happen, she said it's be a TRIM. Plus she called her a boy again. When you hear people saying to not trust Petco/Petsmart you should listen. NEVER going back there. read more
