I enjoy coming to PetSmart. The store is always bright, well-stocked (mostly) and welcoming to all shoppers. The associates are always friendly and helpful. Sadly, PetSmart is no longer carrying the specific brand/style of cat food that my furry overlords enjoy, so my shopping list is shrinking. However, when the cashier learned that I had a hard time finding that food anywhere in the Twin Cities, she took out her phone and found the exact food I needed at Chewy.com. I really appreciate that she made my search a priority over the store's bottom line. For that reason I'll buy all that I can at PetSmart and keep my online orders to a minimum. read more

I work for an nonprofit that serves inner city kids. Petsmart sold a hamster to a minor. She had no food, no cage, no knowledge of how to take care of a hamster. She did not have an adult with her. She was clearly a child. Her family had a cat with kittens. The cat killed the hamster the day she brought it home. She beat up the cat. I do not know if the cat survived. This happened 4 months ago and I haven't been able to forget about it. I don't think I will be able to look at Petsmart the same way again. read more

Absolutely terrible experience at this PetSmart. I came in with my 4-year-old autistic son because he loves fish, but the employee working the tanks was incredibly rude from the start. She didn't even greet us or act conversational. She immediately told me she would 'only sell me the cheap fish from the bottom tanks.' I just wanted my son to have a good experience, so I agreed, but then she intentionally ignored the specific fish I asked for and kept grabbing different ones instead. To make it worse, she was eavesdropping on a private conversation I was having with my daughter. I was simply explaining to my daughter that we should start with a few fish because we'd lost guppies in the past, and the employee used my private words out of context to judge me and refuse the sale. She was pretentious, dismissive, and clearly didn't want to be helpful. This was a sensory trip for my special needs son that she completely ruined with her attitude. This pet smart is our regular, go to location as it's near our home. They often have buy 3, get 1 deal which is nice for treats and chews. The staff have always been friendly enough and kind to our dogs when we bring them. They have always been able to answer our questions as well. The prices are a bit high but I suppose that's for the convenience of all of it being in one place. Although there may be better places to get a deal on certain items, pet smart does have it all from pet clothes to treats to food to hygiene needs. read more

We will not ever come back to have our dog groomed here. We have had issues over the past 2 years with grooming at this location, but for some reason, we kept coming back. This experience cemented our decision to never patronize again. We took our dog here for a Bath and Brush - not even a full grooming - and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes. When we picked him up, we asked if everything went okay. Our groomer said yes. We come home to find that our dog's nail was cut too short on his hind leg, and the "quick" is exposed. We know this is a common occurrence, but we are really upset that our groomer DID NOT TELL US. We had to inspect our dog and find out for ourselves. The store staff is awesome. The groomers, not at all! on 09/05/2022 at 10:15 AM. I took my dog who suffers from separation issues and informed the groomer who never dealt with my dog before and I was assured she will do fine. After I pretended to leave and was peeking from the window, I witnessed 2 associates "Jenny & Shannon" dragging my dog from a slip/chock leash across the room while my dog was in a sad laydown position to the back room where she was lifted by her leash by Shannon with one foot on each side of my pet and wobbled inside to place her in a crate. after confronting the staff they were in complete denial. I am going to take legal action against the mistreatment/abuse done by them. If the associate felt uncomfortable, she should have refused the service vs, abused the animal. Got my pup groomed there this past weekend. First off, they switched who I had asked to groom my puppy without my consent (was scheduled with Elaina, got switched to Ashley) . Next, there is a big cut on the back of my puppy's tail, was not told about this and only noticed when I saw blood dripping outside. I will never be going to PetSmart for anymore grooming services. They absolutely do not care about your dog's well being and only care about the job getting done. read more

Even though PetSmart has just about every damn pet item and service imaginable (which seems to include hundreds of fish tanks, doggy pillows of all sizes, and even an adoption center) this place just isn't for me. There are three things that turn me off from it: 1) It's Kind Of Filthy: I don't have the highest standards for a pet store, but there shouldn't be any excuses for various parts of the floor and shelves to have thin films of dirt. And about the shelves, some products looked like they've been sitting in crap for a very long time. A weekly wipe down here and there would definitely help. 2) Their Storefront Sign Doesn't Work: Is this place open at night? When my girlfriend and I first visited, we didn't even know whether or not it had closed. A major chain like this should have this fixed, immediately. 3) Not Necessarily More Affordable: I understand why local pet stores have slightly higher prices, but why doesn't PetSmart have lower ones? If I'm not saving money by going to PetSmart, shouldn't I bring my dollars to a mom and pop pet shop? (It's similar to how I frequent a co-op and make rare trips to Costco.) Give me a reason, please! Utterly disgusted with the grooming here. We took our older dog, Pepe, here for his regular grooming.. we expected our usual groomer who does a very good job and never does as much as nick his skin, but oh no. Not only did we have to wait an extra 30 minutes after coming to our SCHEDULED appointment, but he came back with multiple decent sized wounds. They blamed it on his fur being matted, but it was not. We have been brushing him almost every day, and his fur was not bad. Bringing your small dog home to see him trembling and bleeding is a horrid thing, unless you want your dog to have the same fate, don't get them groomed at petsmart. read more

My daughter lives by this Petsmart and we find the stock staff and atmosphere here much better than in St Louis Park. But if you find your cat or dog has contracted serious fleas, do not make the mistake we made by spending a lot of money and time on products TOO weak to truly fight off these VORACIOUS nightmare pests!! ....none of the products offered to consumers are STRONG enough against these pests. We wasted four weeks on weak products and they multiplied so fast... we ended with a true infestation! First you must wash the pet with a professional flea dip if there are fleas everywhere like our poor dog. If it is early and not a full blown infestation ( ears eyes rectum etc) then you can research online. You need a Growth inhibitor ( methoprene) and an adulticide ( truly kills the adults )-- strongest is permethrin and pyrethrin. Pyrethrin is preferable because it IS NATURAL -- it is made from chrysanthemum flowers and is stays in the air of your home just 6 + hours. Permethrin ( in MOST products is cheaper is man made and if used in higher strengths can force you to stay out of your home 1-2 days. Knock out, a product sold only by Vets is SO $$ ($21-$30 for a tall " hair spray size canister that goes FAST). I did not like Knock out because of cost and the phenothrin it contains -- poison that kills the adults via their NERVOUS system If you can smell it in the room then it is still dangerous to YOU and your pet ( after spraying). It made me dizzy nauseous headache. If you use this wear a chemical rated mask ( not for dust or paint!) Fleas ARE A NIGHTMARE!!! They reproduce SO fast ( ESP those from our USA South). They go through 4 stages, the last as a pulpa ( cocoon) which can lie in an empty house for FIVE months! Then along comes " Joe human being" or a vacuum -- both creating strong VIBRATIONS which WAKE up the flea and OUT it pops to start everything super fast all over again!!! I spoke w the infectious disease specialist at U of Mn Vet School. She still likes and uses on HER pets, Frontline Plus -- it has been " reworked" she said and improved and REALLY protects ( Impt if you use a " doggy day care " with many other pets) Vet told us that if your pet has an intense case ( all over) then you need to do a professional flea bath with a licensed groomer. And safest for a bad case, find a GOOD VET for just one needed appt. ( read all the reviews). GOOD luck!!! Keep fleas off pets to AVOID the terrible nightmare of getting rid of them!! and realize these chemicals in high concentrations do permanent harm to brain eyes skin lungs and ESP children long term. (A local new internet column published someone who says," Use Diatomaceous Earth... it's safe!!" No it's not -- "it is a super fine dust of PURE SILICA which is GLASS. I own a pet chinchilla, who I've had for about two and half years now, and have been going to this specific store for that time period. In that time, I've unfortunately seen the selection for small pets (chinchillas, to be more specific) dwindle. I used to be able to buy willow sticks, loofa pieces, lava ledges, and different treats on the regular. Nowadays, I have to check multiple times to see if they have what I need and have been disappointed more often than not. When I asked why there were less supplies, I was informed it was a supplier transition, but should expect similar or better products in the near future. I am still waiting for that day. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, so I always appreciate engaging with them. I appreciate their greeting when I walk through the door and their willingness to offer assistance when I am browsing items or distracted by all the cute animals. read more

This is strictly a review for the grooming salon. Although I regularly visit PetSmart for other things, I've never felt compelled to review those visits. We have been using the grooming salon at the Quarry for several years now, and I continue to be impressed with their skill and professionalism. I have a pretty high-maintenance breed (Keeshond) and another less-difficult dog (ShihPoo). I brought the Keeshond to several high-end salons, lured in by a one-time-only discount, and was never more satisfied than when I brought him to the PetSmart salon. The prices are more than fair, and I feel that the groomers really care about the dogs. We usually get the same groomer, Lisa, and she always does a fabulous job. I have never been disappointed, and I'm so glad that a well-known chain can take care of my grooming needs. Simply put, they are the best. I hope they're always as busy as they seem to be when I bring my pups in. read more

I don't have a vehicle, and Pet Smart is within walking distance of my house, which is the main reason why I get my dog groomed here, but the services if just "okay". First of all, my favorite groomer is "T", very friendly and personable. Will ask thorough questions about how you want the cut. The issues I have are 1. The services included in grooming seem a little bit limited or inconsistent. I have always had groomers do bath, haircut, nails, ears, and anal glands. I swear here they do not express anal glads, because my dog has definitely been stinky within a week or two after her grooming appointment, and usually the stank is a sign that she needs her glands expressed. I'm guessing they will express glands, but for an extra fee not included in a normal grooming session. Also, I don't prefer the way they cut schnauzer skirts. I have talked to a few places that agree with me, that the skirt should start just at the bottom of the rib cage, but I forgot to specify this, and my groomer cut the skirt starting about 2 inches up on her side. My second issue is the price. I'm from a smaller city in Wisconsin and my dog is a 20lb miniature schnauzer. I used to pay $35 + tip for my dog's cut, at a local boutique. It was very thorough, and anal glads were included. Pet Smart charges me $45, and then they try to get you to add on services like conditioners, etc. I'm also very confused about the tipping process, because they don't have a tip jar, there isn't a place to add it onto your bill, and sometimes the person who groomed your dog isn't there when you pick the dog up, so you can't even hand them cash. It doesn't really seem fair to the groomers. read more

Say the words "PetSmart" to our dogs and not only do they understand the words, they go full on excited with bulging eyes and wagging tails. We've been taking them here since we got them 3 years ago. Selection: Pretty good. I wish that PetSmart would be uptodate on recalls, but I only buy treats/food made in the USA now so that helps. Grooming: It depends on who you get, but our favorite is T for groomers. Our bulldog accepts no substitutions. Banfield Pet Hospital: They know our dogs by name when they come in. Absolutely LOVE the grooming salon at this location! Last time we took our pup was the first time we had gotten her groomed. She was super nervous and they couldn't finish, so it was hard to tell if they did a good job. We took her back this weekend, and she's never looked better! Her fur is so soft and brighter than I've ever seen it. And they even put a precious little red white and blue bow on her ear! I couldn't have been happier with the job they did. Pet parents! Please do not send your pet here!!!! I just took my golden retriever in last week. I specifically asked if anal glands were included as my golden gets super stinky. They assured me it was in the $89 package I ordered. I was told Josh has been grooming for 10 years and would be done early because he's so good. Red flag!!! He was done in under 2 hours She still stinks and her anal glands were not done. I took her back the next day to have them expressed and the girls said they were "very full and needed done". Now I'm finding a HUGE scab on her chest from him. Not okay. This place is disgusting! This business sold me a pheromone collar that nearly choked my cat. It's advertised to calm the cat down and relieve stress; it did the opposite. Instead, we had a cat that got his jaw caught under the collar and nearly choked because the "breakaway" function of the collar didn't work. My boyfriend got several severe scratches from the cat in the struggle to pull the collar off before it choked him, and the cat's togue began to bleed because the collar started to cut into his tongue. Petsmart should advertise this product differently or take it off the shelves. It does not work for every cat and Petsmart should be held accountable, as well as the company that manufactured it. They also hold their fish in crowded conditions which is harmful and leads to a higher death rate in the fish because there isn't enough room for them to breathe. The prices for even the discounted items are higher than target at regular price. If I'm going to say anything nice about this company, it's that the cashier was friendly. Thats about it. read more

Grooming salon: after having tried a couple of locally owned grooming salons I think I'll just stick with Petsmart. This location specifically seems to have wonderful groomers. Larry the shihtzu and I were warmly welcomed when we walked in. The salon looked very small but clean and bright. Someone immediately scooped Lary up and gushed about how cute he was which I really think he appreciated and showed said appreciation when a kiss to the gal that took him. The groomer obviously knew what they were doing when it came to giving haircuts because Lary came back looking like a top notch dog. I even got a phone call before they were done saying I could come over so that Lary didn't have to wait for me. Thumbs up Petsmart Groomers! read more

I felt inclined to though after the many amazing visits my dog and I have had at the grooming salon! We have been coming to the Quarry Petsmart Grooming location for over 2 years now and every time my dog and I walk away extremely pleased. My dog is a Maltipoo and tends to have gnarly hair after I prolong his haircuts as long as possible. I can't part with his cute, fluffy hair. Our go to groomer is Lisa; she does a great job at getting my dog mat free and smelling fresh. He is a very timid, shy dog and doesn't take to people easily. Handing him to Lisa is one of the easiest experiences I have had at the groomer, so I know he feels safe and as comfortable as he can be in the situation. read more

One thing that's changed since my last visit is using the c.c. swipe after the clerk swiped my PetSmart Card. Suddenly the screen has my profile with either a fake or incorrect email address. Of course I never gave them my email address so evidently just a ploy to make me feel I have to correct and thus provide my address. They also wanted my phone number which I refuse to give. How much can go wrong keeping the PetSmart Card on file? It's just a discount card and does not give a blanket discount anyway. Click Done and whoa another screen. This is the longest check out in the digital age I've experienced in awhile. The clerk said something about verifying your information as they no longer issue the cards the way they used to. Huh? My boyfriend and I recently adopted a dog. We were completely clueless as to what to buy at PetSmart so we asked the woman at the register if there was anyone who could help us. She called one of the managers, Holly, over. If you want amazing customer service you need to see Holly! She was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and honest. She didn't try to sell us more than we needed, she offered us many options for products, and was personable and friendly the entire time. That woman made our experience wonderful. I spent another 30 minutes with the overall store manager and they gave a $10 off coupon...whoopty dooo....after I spent 30 min each way in car, 30 min in store and now have to find another groomer. Don't go here. I never used to think of a pet store as somewhere one generally has bad experiences. We've had multiple here now. We took our puppy and the persian into the groomers here a while back. The cat needed stitches afterwards and the dog looked like more uneven version of the way he came in. Our animals were blamed and we were still made to pay full price. Mind you, our animals often get complimented on how wonderful they are other places. We simply stopped bringing them here for grooming. Now months later, I figured it would be fine going there to find a solution to our puppy's barking problem. We were discouraged from purchasing a cheaper version of one product and told that the more expensive version could be exchanged if it did not work out. Warning: If you bring your dog here salespeople will approach you pretending to be friendly, but their real goal is to sell you training lessons, no matter what you actually came into the store for. Needless to say the product did not work and even though the same salesperson was there and remembered selling it to me earlier in the week they wouldn't exchange it without the receipt. They even tried looking up the transaction using my credit card as I was told they could when I bought it. In fact I got an avalanche of lies and excuses: "We don't carry this product" "You didn't buy this here" "There is no record in our system" "You must have bought this over 9 days ago" "That's not our policy" "I told you we can only take it back with a receipt" How can you simultaneously try to tell me that the transaction never took place while recounting to me the details of that transaction? I did go home and find the receipt and was back an hour later to return it. I had bought it there exactly 7 days earlier. No apology, no nothing. But , they told me to hold on to my receipt just in case the return didn't go through in their system in the next 3-5 days. Hopefully I won't have to waste any more time going back here. read more

I came to this Petsmart for training with my dog. I will be the first to admit that my dog is indeed a problem dog, but I was encouraged after talking to the trainer. She was polite, and friendly and professional, so we signed up for a class. Our first night of class went alright. I enjoyed the trainer and what we learned, but my dog was being a terror, to which the trainer suggested we (my dog and I) continue with training but in private lessons. They would offer me 4 private lessons in exchange for the class I purchased. I gladly obliged. After our first private lesson (on a busy Saturday), the trainer and I scheduled for the following week. Unfortunately I had to reschedule. So I called to get a hold of the trainer. She was sick, so I left a message with an associate asking to be called back. After a week of not hearing back, I called AGAIN and left another message asked to be called back. It's been another week (two weeks of not hearing from my trainer) and I'm not happy. I have contacted an in-home trainer to work with me and my dog instead of continuing with Petsmart. I'm not angry, just annoyed. I don't know if I should hold the trainer accountable or the associates accountable, but I'm disappointed in the professionalism. I will be going back to the store to ask for some of my money back. read more

Went in for a groom for my dog, when I got there the lady was just getting in, I was about 5 mins early for my appointment. I drop him off yes he was matted but only thing she says is that a conditioner would be good for an extra 7 bucks. I said ok they called me at 11:27 to tell me he was done. I went in picked him up went to go pay, an extra 14 bucks was added... why dematting fee, do I understand why you would charge this yes I do. But what I was upset about is you need to be upfront and say hey it might be a little more for the groom because of this, and Id be fine. I went to ask about it because Ive never been charged this before, and she goes on about how shes paid on Commission. I said you need to be upfront about these fees. And she goes on about how she did later and it took her longer, and now shes behind, maybe if you came in a little bit earlier you could get all your stuff ready and be on time instead of running in last minute Im sure you didnt start at the time he was scheduled it's never been an issue and he's always been done on time so I guess it's up to the Groomer's what they charge you. Also when I look online for his breed for weight it says like 25 to 55 lbs. He is very small and is about 15 pounds so Im I being over charged as well? Not to mention a year ago they stucked his ear up in to the clipper and they had to get it glued, said I didnt have to pay but they never refunded me and after about a week told me when I called and asked why my money wasn't back that I had to come in and do it which was never told to me. But I liked that lady she handle it professionally unlike today. Sorry lady that checked me out they didnt even tell me in the salon and explain it to me before I came out to pay which is also messed up.
