Sweet old Daisy Dawg, dirty and shaggy, because she's not going to Dig It anymore. The search for a new groomer is on.
JuliAnne O.

It's amazing how quickly a business can go from five stars in two previous reviews over many years down to one star, based on one nasty employee's behavior. Stephanie and her various employees have been cutting my little old lady Daisy's hair for the better part of eight years (I think?) at this place, but never again. I'm not letting anyone as rude and uncaring as "Ranna" touch my sweet old girl who has terminal cancer ever again. I'm sure I will get crucified in response to this review, but no matter what Stephanie says, I will stand by my words here. Yes, I don't have the greatest record on timeliness, in case she comes after me with that. I deserve it. It's something I really despise in myself. It has to do with some pretty severe medical issues, but that's a story for another day. At this moment I'm talking about today's appointment and interaction. If they didn't want to see me anymore, that's fine. But to be rude and condescending to my face when I walked in 9 minutes late at 12:39 for a 12:30 appointment is more than I want to deal with. I'm sure they have plenty of other customers to keep them busy, but from now on, I won't be one of them. Here's what happened today: My little 15 year old sweet Daisy, who has abdominal cancer, was constipated this morning. I found this out when I looked for her to take her to be groomed. She's usually right next to me, and it took me a couple of minutes to find her. I've never seen this happen to her before, but she just wouldn't stop squatting. Even when I picked her up to look to see if I could see something wrong down there, she was still squatting. Finally a little pellet popped out, but that was after about 20 minutes of her walking around in a squatting position. She then stood up a little straighter, so I quickly grabbed her and ran out the door and sped to Dig It as quickly as I could. Immediately when I opened the door I explained to them that she was constipated, and that if she started squatting, that was what the deal was, because I couldn't get her to stop squatting a few minutes before. Nobody really said anything, which is fine. We don't have to talk about my dog's poop issues, obviously. But it was pretty obvious that I was distressed and had raced in there as fast as I could. I didn't bother telling them that I'm freaking out because this could indicate that her cancer has grown large enough to cause a blockage, etc. etc. etc., but that's what was running through my mind. "Ranna," who I've met before (she's never been my favorite, as she isn't very "warm and fuzzy," but I always thought she was OK) managed to mention not once, not twice, but THREE different times before I got out the door that I had messed up her schedule and that she would now be running late. She wasn't horrible about it, because she said it in more of a "polite" passive aggressive way. They know Daisy has terminal cancer, because she's been in at least one other time since she was diagnosed this summer at the U of M. Anyhow, between dealing with the knowledge that Daisy had new symptoms that I've never seen before and that she was obviously uncomfortable, which made us late, and Ranna's refusal to either let it slide and take Daisy or tell me that she couldn't, it was just too much. "You're late and I can't take her" or "this is the last time I can take a late dog" or ANYTHING would have been better. But she chose instead rub it in my face three different times that we were late, and I just had enough and knew I was going to be an idiot and cry if I didn't get out of there. I felt bad enough already about Daisy's discomfort and was so ashamed because of my lateness, and when she wouldn't let it go and kept repeating how she would be late now, I just broke and walked out. I can't deal with that today, and I'm not going to let anyone that cares that little about my sweet, timid little old dog, whether she can groom her today or not, be responsible for her comfort for any amount of time. I even mentioned again before I left that she has cancer, but all I got were crickets. She did not offer any sort of apology or anything even close. She simply stated "have a nice day" as I walked out. Sure thing, honey. I'll have a wonderful day dealing with my precious pet, who just demonstrated a probable new symptom of her terminal abdominal cancer THAT YOUR COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT. Thanks a lot for the concern after the many years I've been bringing many owned and foster dogs here, including my "soul mate doggie" Daisy. By the way, I've never once been picky about the services they've provided, even when I got subpar haircuts, and I always tip at least 20%. My puppy Clover has a bit of a crooked haircut that they did last month, but I just let it go. There's a spot along both of her sides that sticks out that's too long, kind of like an 80s weight line. So long, Dig It.

His paws look so good. They did a really nice job

I took my dog, Samson, there this morning. He had quarantine hair. And he's energetic and can be hard to groom. Bang up job! They were able to shave his hindquarters, trim his pads, and cut his nails. (The last time anyone was able to cut his nails was under anesthesia when he was neutered.) I would recommend them to anyone!

Joules looks fab! Continental clips are challenging but she's just growing into it here. I think Arielle may have done this one

I love Dig It Dog Grooming! I have been taking my miniature poodle there for more than a year now. We've gotten different cuts and they've all turned out exactly what we were expecting. It's hard to find someone who will do a very technical continental clip and get it right. They have always treated us with respect and kindness towards our dog.

We brought in our 9 month old (recently rescued) puppy for the first time today. I did a lot of searching to find a groomer that seemed like a comfortable fit for us and our dog, and our whole family is so pleased with the outcome. She looks and smells fluffy and fantastic, and her nails are perfectly trimmed, and her teeth are sparkling clean... Despite being afraid of the water spray during the bath, it would seem that Stephanie did a great job with her. We will definitely be back- it was well worth the short trip from Northeast!

This is a total bummer as I was really expecting great things when I found this pet grooming place…read moreon Yelp based on all of the great 5 star reviews. It was a traumatizing disappointment to say the least, for both me and my dog Molly. When we arrived for our appointment for a nail trim, Molly was rushed onto a raised platform for the trim. The owners didn't even talk to her or greet her or ask for her name, no treats, nothing to calm her down. When I booked the appointment I didn't realize that they were going to have me be involved, as with past pet grooming places the professionals handle the entire operation and then let you know when it's done. While I was helping to hold her down, she was shrieking in terror as the owner cut her nails. Molly literally screamed out about 3-4 times, it was awful to watch. Past places like PetSmart trimmed and buffed the nails and then gave Molly treats for doing a great job. Shear Elegance only trimmed the nails and sent her on her way, no treat. The plus side was that it only cost $5 but be warned that they only accept cash and don't accept credit cards or any other form of payment. Molly couldn't wait to get out of there... after I paid she was pulling me out the door terrified with her tail between her legs. I really had high expectations based on the reviews and really like to support local businesses, but I think I'll stick to PetSmart where they will clean her ears, trim and buff her nails, and give her treats to calm her down for $20. I'm hoping this experience won't scare her going forward for future nail appointments.

Stopped by earlier today after seeing a post online about $10 nail trims, our dogs were due for…read morejust that plus the price is great! The location is great with plenty of parking. The store itself was smaller but clean and had lots of product! First thing I noticed was it was a little chaotic, understandable for a nail trim special event, although no staff ever called out where to check in and where to check out or where to get in line for the trims. There was one groomer who was very very sweet, even stepping out of the grooming room to trim nails for a shy dog while their owner held them, they must be a regular because I overheard the owner say "see you next month again". Our little Bruce went in first and I anticipated screaming but he was really screaming. Thank goodness for the windows into the grooming room because I saw him thrashing around and immediately went over asked to step in after hearing the groomer (different one than mentioned prior) raising her voice pretty loud at my dog a few times and saying things like "stop it", "that's enough", etc. I also saw her put some powder on his toenail but she never mentioned during or after the trim if she trimmed to short or what. Once I was holding him, it went much smoother but I didn't her tone of voice with him or the limited info on the powder. My other big, shy dog was hesitant to go in but I was able to encourage him in and he did fine. He actually seemed to be doing pretty good at first, I had asked for the filing on his if he tolerated it. Although when I had stepped in to hold our small dog, Bart (our big dog) FELL OFF THE TABLE, hanging briefly by the neck holder thing! The girl doing Bruce ran over to help lift him up and he was just fine but startled. Both of their nails are pretty good, 8.5/10. I do understand the chaos of this event and a full room or barking, whining dogs. I can imagine it's not the groomers favorite day or event. I understand some level of annoyance but also expect good service at the same time. It was not bad at all, it was alright and we were able to grab a couple bones on the way out which the boys will enjoy. Not 100% sure we will come back for the nail trim as we can do it at home but need to hold them like babies and it's not ideal but we will see. This might be better for those doggies who don't really mind nail trims and you're not confident in doing them yourself.

I brought our two boys in for their Christmas groom after our scheduled appointments were canceled…read moreat another groomer. PetEvolution was able to get both scheduled immediately after we were told by the original groomer that it wouldn't be until Feb '25 before an appointment became available. The staff was courteous, professional and extremely helpful. The results were spectacular and the service exceptional. I would highly recommend PetEvolution for your grooming needs!
