This groomer is conveniently located near our place. I brought my Yorkie to get groomed. From the moment I called to schedule to the moment I walked out the door I was blown away by the customer service. The people were so friendly, had answers to all my questions and are very willing to accommodate and are open to any feedback. My dog's haircut is lovely and I was surprised to see a tie on him. He is looking like a stud. My dog's hair is so soft and he smells so good. Amber did such a wonderful job and I forgot to express I usually keep his tail hair longer and she figured that out so she didn't cut the hair there very low! My first impression of Dogs at play was great! I called ahead expressing my concerns (mats, first time being groomed, etc.) and they sounded very experienced and helpful. I also asked what I should expect to pay, and they told me somewhere between $45-55 depending on the dog's behavior. They also had openings sooner than other places I called. My pleasant phone conversation and their open schedule led me to scheduling an appointment right then and there. When I brought my rescue dog to her first grooming appointment, the staff were very friendly and poured love into my dog, which made me feel like she was in a good hands! I emphasized how my recently rescued dog came with a lot of matting and needed help working through that. They took her back and said they'd call when she's ready. When I went to pick her up, they went to get her from the back (which is for employees only). I asked how she did and I was told, "good." When they checked me out the total was $69.63 plus a tip. That was more than I was expecting to pay as they previously gave me a $45-55 range depending on the behavior and they also said she did "good," so if anything I was thinking the lower part of that range. When I got home from picking my dog up, I pet her and noticed mats right away. That was a big disappointment because that was my biggest concern and why I wanted to schedule her so urgently! Plus I really thought I emphasized the mats quite a bit. I am all for treating my pets to the best, I just wish I wasn't falsely told the pricing and that my concerns would be taken care of. Since I was dissatisfied, I felt I should call them and let them know about my experience. I ended up leaving a message explaining what happened and asked for a call back. It has been over 24 hours and I have yet to hear back. Employees were kind, though I feel this information of my experience is good for others to see before deciding to schedule an appointment there. Some things would definitely need to change in order for me to schedule my dog here again! We boarded our dogs for a day and and a half and our dogs have been sick ever since. WTF. I don't know what to do now...

This place is horrible. No outdoor play area, inside smells so bad, very small no room for dogs to run and play. They pack dogs into these 3 small little areas like cattle with no room for them to run, literally the dogs just stand there because there is no room for them to move around. Not enough staff to dog ratio. You don't need to let them know in advanced when dropping off your dog which I was surprised because other doggy daycares require this information in order to plan staff to dog ratio and to make sure it is within compliance. I only took my dog here a few times before I seen a pattern and said enough is enough. Each time I picked my dog up, I would ask staff where he was and I was told he was in their 5x9 kennel. I would ask why and they would say they have over 70+ dogs and not enough staff. I would ask how long he was kenneled and was told their entire shift. I was so frustrated and disappointed because I don't pay to take my dog to daycare to be locked in a kennel for 8 hrs. The last time I took him there when I picked him up I was told the same story as previous times and I finally had enough. I asked to get the owners name and number and the staff working did not want to provide that to me and kept ignoring my request until she finally provided me with her name which is Lisa and the staff then said good luck getting a hold of her because she won't return your call. They mislead you and tell you they take your dog for 3 walks a day and come to find out it is not a walk it is a bathroom break. The last time I took my dog there the minute we stepped outside he peeped right at the door because he couldn't hold it any longer so I don't think they ever took him out for a bathroom break and he came home and drank so much water it made me question whether they even gave him water. He would come home smelling like pee every time and when I asked why I was told dogs pee in the kennels and they try to clean it up but they don't always have the time, therefore my dog laid in pee. When I reached out to the owner to let her know my frustrations and concerns of neglect she could hear I was crying and she said "are you actually crying", obviously she has no empathy for others or understanding how important our pets are to us, defiantly shows all she cares about is the money. Also, never get your dog groomed here, like others are saying the pricing is very misleading and the rates on their website is wrong. They charged me $56 just for a bath which they did not even dry him afterwards. I tried questioning this and disputing paying that much but I was told they can charge whatever the groomer wants at the time. Don't ever take your dog here, there is a reason why you can just drop your dog off at anytime without any notice, they don't care about your dog, just the money. read more

This was our dog's first grooming experience and was nervous on how our dogs would be and nervous to trust our dogs with strangers. Besides all that first time anxiety I was excited to take my dogs in to get a bath, nail trim and ear clean. However was quite disappointed. Not only did the groomer which we agreed to schedule for our grooming did not show up. We walked into the place and immediately the worker just took our dogs back. No checking in, no explanation on what to expect like the phone call i had with the owner/groomer when i first scheduled. When it was time to pick the dogs up the person then realized we had not been checked in at all nor did we sign their agreement form. I paid 90 sum dollars for their services to only find out one of my dogs nails were barely or not even trimmed at all. Their bath seemed as if they were wiped down with wipes and then had perfume sprayed onto them. I could've done a better job bathing my dogs in my bathroom and going forward will do so. The employee whom checked us out was quite polite and I never do reviews but i thought i should let others know before leaving your dogs in this facilities care. MORE SO, I was charged $92.13 including taxes. For 1 small to medium bath and 1 medium to large bath. Which should have been $49.00 without taxes. read more

I am an admittedly anal-retentive dog owner. However, as a trainer for a well-known company in the cities, I am always looking for new boarding facilities to recommend to my client base. I just moved to the area, and had driven past Dogs at Play! many times, so I finally stopped in this morning to check it out. Opened the door and was immediately greeted by a STRONG smell of urine, and no people to be seen. Lots and lots of barking and fighting dogs though... Long story short, stood there for 5 minutes, observed the urine/feces in the so called "play areas"- and will not be recommending the commonly, let alone EVER bringing my dogs there. read more

I went to FL recently for over a week and ran into this place accidentally trying to get a nail trim. The owner is very friendly and knowledgable, she have me a great rate I couldn't refuse and I ended up boarding all 3 of my dogs. I ended up meeting 2 other staff members as well, very nice and caring people. The place was clean (in middle of remodel), they took the time to socialize my dogs for 3 days before letting them run wild, it is loud- but that is expected. I will be bringing them for all their services from now on including grooming, and even a great price on dog food. Highly recommended! I have read reviews about poop or pee, unless the employees are in the pen at ALL times cleaning- that's a given. Great find! read more

I would never board my dog here again. It is the cheapest place around for a reason. We boarded our dog over the week of 4th of July. The facility does not have an outside fenced in area for the dogs. Staff takes dogs out 1 at a time to a patch of grass to use the bathroom. The inside is in poor quality, the smell is horrible. There are two large play areas for dogs to roam during the day. I believe there are 2 employees in at all times, which is grossly understaffed. Both employees, at the time, seemed too young/immature to be managing a business (arrived to 1 employee smoking in the parking lot with friends). Upon arrival, we were informed Dogs at Play has no capacity limit and will except any dog, even dogs who are banned from other facilities (red flag). Our dog was up to date on all vaccinations and caught kennel cough, so they are not diligently checking vaccination records for all animals. Oh and they lost her collar...... read more

My husband and I happened upon Dogs At Play when we needed to find a boarding place for our two special needs basset hounds. I am that over protective dog momma and with one dog with a brain injury and the other dog iffy with new people I was very nervous about leaving them anywhere but since we needed to be out of town for the weekend it had to be done. When we got back the owner was there and gave us a comprehensive report from the weekend and I felt it went as good as could be expected. That sealed the deal for me. We have since lost our two furbabies and adopted another who we are starting to bring to Dogs At Play. As for the smell, yeah I will admit it is a little hard to take in but ffs its boarding dogs who are going potty..........in the play area...........what do you expect? Also we have dropped off babies early in the AM and picked them up later in the evening and all times in between and we have always seen staff there. We have never had to seek anyone out. read more

I googled dog daycare places by Woodbury as we were planning on being there for three baseball games at a tournament. I called and they had an opening. The reason for a 4/5 review is their bathroom needs repairs badly. The toilet seat was broke in half. I am Glad my mom taught me to squat anyway. The floor needs repairs and they had a regular towel to use. The check in went smooth as I had all vaccines current. They took down our address and phone. Luckily I received no Call as I assume dog was Fine. This was my first time using doggy daycare ever. When we picked our dog up the worker said she did great. The dogs were in a front window, which reminded me of the "How much is the doggy in the window " song. They supposedly walk your dog three times a day also and assess before putting your dog in certain play groups. You pay when you pickup your dog and there is space for a tip. Cost $20 plus tax. Will probably use again when in IGH area. read more

We have experienced lots of places over the years. We were surprised to stop in here. Now our pitty-girl races from the car to get in. They love her and apparently she loves them. Our threesome is now there for an extended stay so we shall see how they fair. The staff was amenable to a phone call from an anxious pet-parent to see how things were going. I had some questions regarding switching my dogs food and they really took the time to help me out. They've got the best prices on food around, I can't find it any cheaper than here. I LOVE LOVE LOVE DOGS AT PLAY!!!! I have been bringing my Shar Pei's to Dogs at Play since they first opened. From a treat, to grooming, to a place I can trust to take great care of my dogs when I am on vacation, they have it all. Lisa and her staff don't just watch my dogs, they play with them and make them feel loved. They get to know the personalities of each dog and interact with them accordingly. Other places may put your dog in a cage and ignore them, not here. When I tell my dogs they are going to daycare they get sooo happy and excited. We walk in the door and Paulo snuggles up to Lisa's leg and forgets I exist. If he could write, he would say FOUR PAWS UP for Dogs at Play :-) read more

This place is fantastic! My little furbaby has been to at least 6 doggy daycare places as we relocate around the country. Dogs at Play is her favorite. In fact, she was actually depressed for awhile after we moved because she missed her DAP buddies. Lisa Cleary runs a tight ship - employees are consistent and compassionate and the place is always very clean. These folks aren't eating bonbons while your pup fends for itself. They are up and moving all the time - fully engaged, playing, observing, disciplining and cleaning up after the dogs. Give it a try - your dog will love you for it! read more

I have taken my dog here over the last year and a half. While it is not the cheapest they have been fairly consistent in doing what I ask. I have been bringing my dogs to Dogs at Play for years. My new fur kid has some challenging behaviors she is very fearful and I would not trust anyone else to take care of her (except for my ex husband :). She really loved it Dogs at Play and that is a true testament to how they treated her there. She loves the owner, Lisa more than anyone else and sometimes I think even more than me. When she sees her she is just beside herself with happiness. Also I have a vet come to day care to take care of Eva's vaccinations etc. It is so very convenient for me, I don't need to make another appointment or go anywhere for that after work or on weekends. I moved to CT now for work and it was one of the worst things to leave behind, a day care where I knew my fur baby was taken care of and loved. I would recommend this place without a doubt to anyone at all. They are really doing it for love first and not for money. They open very early and close very late and their fees are reasonable. read more

The owner is very friendly and seems to know a lot about dogs, but I did not like this place forboarding my pet. They have WAY too many dogs for the amount of people they had working. They do not have an outdoor area so the dogs have to be walked every few hours. There were probably 20 dogs there when I stopped to pick my dog up, possible more, with only 2 people working. How do the dogs get walked enough? There was 4 piles of dog poop in one of the pins and 2 puddles of pee. That is with 10 dogs running around in the same pin. It stunk very badly, which any kennel does, but it was overwhelming. It was pretty spendy too $45 for 27 hours. When we got home my mom noticed she didn't get her food returned to her or a a shirt she put in her dogs kennel. I don't think I will be going back. They need to limit the amount of dogs. read more

Please, if you love your dog - which you do if you are willing to pay for daycare services - don't leave them here for daycare. There is sometimes one person working with 30-40-50 dogs just left to fend for themselves. Even with 2 employees, they are watching tv, in the back, not paying attention unless the dogs get loud. I really feel for the small dogs - they hide a lot because of the noise or intimidation from the larger ones. Sometimes when you think your dog is playing in a group all day, it's in a kennel because they don't want to deal with some of the dogs who are more difficult. Dogs are rarely walked outside - recently a boarding dog got a bladder infection and ended up being put to sleep after going home because it had been let go too long. It's the noisiest and messiest when the owner is working alone.She likes her computer time more than interacting with the dogs. The place is filthy, the dogs run through urine all day...it's a germ factory. Go to a place with web cams, or at least a floor sanitizing system, or at least trained staff. Oh, and when the owner tries to sell you on her 'credentials' - ask for verification. :/ read more
