This place is terrible, I went in to buy a little goldfish for my sister and they immediately said oh I can't sell you that fish. The best I can give you is 2 guppies. DOG the fish tanks there were a max of 5 gallons and she said I need 20 gallons. There's signs saying we care about our fish but most of the fish are dead. read more

My wife and I went to Petco to get some fish. After waiting for assistance, we had to call for help. When an employee finally arrived, I explained what we needed, but instead of helping us, he prioritized assisting other customers who had arrived after us. Frustrated, we decided to take our business elsewhere. It's disappointing that we weren't helped in the order we arrived. Crickets were all over the back of the store. My husband took our son to use the bathroom and the employee opened the door and my husband said there were crickets covering the bathroom the employee didn't care and just walked off. so we left and didn't buy everything we needed we will be finding a cleaner place to shop. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I've been getting my dog groomed here for the past year or so. Early on, my dog looked great and the people in there were always very nice. I felt comfortable leaving my dog there. However, the last few times I've had my dog groomed, I've been very disappointed. Last time, I was told to pick my dog up an hour and a half after dropping her off so I chose to run errands instead of going home. After an hour and a half and not receiving a call, I showed up to see if maybe my phone wasn't working. They hadn't even started with my dog...an hour after the appointment was supposed to begin. I asked how much longer and they said "I dont know". I piddled around the store and checked again in a half hour, STILL hadn't started. I asked how much longer again and they said an hour. I left. An hour later, my dog was still on the table being trimmed. Basically, they did a half-assed quick job and I still paid full price even though there were still chunks of my dogs hair that were long. They also did not trim the tail so that it didn't drag on the ground, as I requested. This time, I brought my dog in on time. The clerk, Renee, asked me what I'd like done. I said the same thing as usual. She condescendingly asked me if I really didn't want it shorter for the summer. Okay... I don't want it shorter for summer, since I don't have an outside dog, which is obvious. I just really get odd vibes from this lady. She's done my dog's grooming twice before and each time I felt like she hated her job and hated dogs in addition to not doing a good job with the grooming. I reluctantly left my baby with this woman and picked her up on time. Judging from the dogs behavior upon my arrival, I wouldn't be surprised if this woman was overly rough and traumatizing. The haircut looked surprisingly decent at a glance (considering my expectations after the last couple times she did it), except they never bleach the tear stains like Petsmart does. Oh well, I went ahead and paid (to find the price increased by 6 dollars). Thing that really pissed me off was that when I get the dog in the car, all this loose hair gets all over my freshly vaccuumed car. Grrreat. I'm really not sure why the loose hair wasn't blown off or brushed out. A week later, my dog was *sigh* scooting her butt across the floor, which she has never done before. This is a sign that her anal glands had not been cleaned out, which is SUPPOSED to be included in the grooming. If this isn't done regularly, it causes animals pain!! I had to take her to PetSmart to have this done (not doing that myself, thank you). There is no excuse for this. Laziness. Negligence. Lack of pride in work. And worst, lack of care for the well-being of an animal. I think that was the final straw. I'm not going back here again. Try Petsmart on Canal. It's a little more expensive but well worth it. If you love your animal, don't leave them at this Petco. read more

There's one reason that I prefer Petco over other stores: they sell cat litter in bulk. This means that you can keep reusing the same container, they charge you less for doing so, and you're not throwing away a container every time you empty one. They also have a frequent buyer program for food, so if you sign up for their little card thingie, you'll get one free bag of food for every 10 that you buy (there's a one year time limit). They also have grooming services, but I don't know anyone that's used them. read more

Pet stores are always tricky to review. Petco is no exception. On one hand it has a bulk section, which is always a plus in my book on the other, if you by an old school bag of dog food it's going to cost you your first born child. I love that the store itself is not overwhelming. Everything is well organized and there are usually plenty of staff on hand to help you if you can't find something or need specific advice. The only drawback is that every time I enter the store I'm accosted by well meaning animal charities. I too love the puppies and kitties but please, let me shop in peace. I have had fish on and off for about 10 years and about a year and a half ago go I decided to get a tank for a Betta it's a 10 gallon tank with a heater and a filter that has been cycling since I got my Betta. He passed away a couple months ago and I finally decided I wanted to get more fish so I went to Petco to get some guppies, I get home and acclimate them to the temperature of my tank and let them into their new home and they all look great. The next day when I went to look at the new fish 2 we're dead and another 3 looked sick. I've had the fish a little over 24 hours now and more of them are starting to look sick. read more

Don't do it the groomer shaved my cookie all the way down when I wanted hair on her now she went from looking like a shitzu to looking like a mut I will never go back nor will I recommend them they used to be good they lost my 4 dogs read more

My girlfriend and I have stopped into this Petco around 20 different times in the last few months to check out Ferrets and to talk to different members of the staff about these critters, each time we stopped by I've got to say that we were always welcomed and the staff was very very very informative about ferrets. They had no problem talking to us and answering the 10 million questions we had each time. After a few months of educating ourselves about ferrets we finally made the jump and purchased one from here and I gotta say l the experience has been amazing. We have even stopped by with the little guy and they are always so kind and excited to see us and (taz) the ferret. I just wanted to say thank you because they made the whole process easy and all of the info they gave us was accurate and useful. They didn't try and sell us the most expensive stuff, they were upfront and honest about everything! We will continue to shop here and will also recommend people to this location. Just thirty minutes into our 5 day camping trip our Border Collie puppy decided to roll around on top of a rotten and smelly fish carcass that she had found. Needless to say she smelled horrible and despite a good bathing at the campsite we were not able to get rid of the smell. We booked the first available grooming appointment we could find, which happened to be with Jacey at the Petco on Queensgate in Richland. We were thoroughly pleased with the results. While we had requested just a bathing, Jacey and the team, understanding our situation, added a deodorizing treatment, which surely made a huge difference and was much appreciated. Our dog hates baths but somehow she and Jacey were still on good terms when I went to pick her up at the end of the appointment. Jacey mentioned that it can be a good idea to stay with the same groomer, which we would definitely do but for the fact that we live 200 miles away. However, if you are close and looking to get your pet groomed don't hesitate to take him or her to the Petco on Queensgate, they will take good care of you! read more

Got told to leave store and not come back after doing nothing wrong after petco made a mistake.

Me and my husband just bought a pitbull puppy and decided to take her to get some toys and necessities. Instantly walking in with her we felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed. I get that she's a pitbull and Everyone has different opinions on the breed. However this is a pet store and should welcome any dog breed. They watched our every move and didn't take their eyes off of her. We spent alot of money and with the way the we were treated we will be going else where next time. I'm very disappointed. read more

My advice, save your receipts, because if your pet dies, you can't return anything without a receipt. A store credit isn't any good when you don't have A pet. Not a good experience today, for them or me. I think accommodations could be made in this kind of circumstance, Not asking for much, I don't think. This store just can't get its stuff together. All we wanted to do was adopt a cat. They have dog training all day... directly in front of the cat kennels! We found one, called them to make sure it was there, got in the car and showed up within 15 minutes and they had adopted it. Not that I don't love driving around with a crying 5 year old but... I don't even know what to recommend. Perhaps just get someone on there that can think. read more
