Very disappointed after taking our Shih Tzu here for 4 yrs to be denied service one she started having seizures. She has clearance from her Neurologist stating no complications in getting her groomed. Our previous Shih Tzu was denied service once she had got older even though she had been groomed there for over 10 yrs. We had put our faith and trust in Petco, that bond has been broken !!! I love the store. They tend to have some of the better clearance sections of the Petco's in the area. My only complaint and reason for 4 stars is the bathroom is consistently gross. No soap. No paper towels to dry your hands. The toilet paper holder is broken so the rolls are balanced on the railing. There's no toilet seat covers. Just make sure you use the restroom elsewhere before you come here and you shouldn't have any issues. Plenty of free parking in the shopping center. read more

I'm extremely frustrated with this Petco location. We went to their Vetco vaccination clinic last April we took two dogs in to get vaccinations and flea medication. Our one dog we got the flea medication and they put the prescription in the computer so I have re-ordered the prescription for that dog. That's not the problem. The other dog we took and did exactly the same thing got the flea medication, but the vet they failed to put in the renewals or the refills in the computer so now I've tried calling. I've been into their Vetco clinic three times trying to figure out how I can get flea medication for this dog that should've been put in to the computer by the Vetco vet whose name is Dr. Fabiola Ramirez and they keep giving me the runaround. I cannot get the flea medication renewed now take it. I spent $350 when I took this dog in which was supposed to give me refills for a year but now they want me to bring the dog back in and pay again because their vet failed to put in the refills and I cannot get anyone at the store, online, at the Vetco clinic to help me at all. I would not go here for anything ever again. read more

I wish I took a picture, but I came here to use the Self- Service Dog Wash and it was filthy. The lady who checked me in was extremely nice and helped very well I mean I get that there's going to be a lot of dog hair, but it was gross. I don't recommend taking your dogs here to wash them. I walked in the wash room and TWO of the THREE wash tubs were out of service and on the sign it says "no need to clean after yourself! we'll do it for you!" but as i went to put my dog in there I noticed huge clumps of dog hair in the tub from the previous owners who washed their dog, but I don't blame them because on the sign it says they will clean for you. So I went back out and asked the lady who checked me in if she was some disinfectant to clean the tub with, she handed me a bottle and said, "it is very strong so make sure to rinse it well" which made me question if it was even dog safe cleaner. So I opted out 'cause i didn't want to poison my dog. So since I already paid $20 what I ended up doing was cleaning the dog hair out myself so I could wash my dog. So I pressed the rinse button and it was working great, water was warm but then when I went to press the shampoo with rinse button, no soap was coming out, thank God I brought my own soap, but I continued wanting to see if soap would come out, so I clicked back to rinse then back to soap, nothing. then, I washed my dog with my soap, but i wanted to see if the shampoo would work so I clicked rinse again then the shampoo, didn't work, so i decided to just get the soap out of my dog. But when i clicked back to rinse and rinse started shooting shampoo and then I kept clicking back and forth between rinse and shampoo 'cause i couldn't stop the shampoo, they both started alternating between shooting shampoo with the water, so I had click back and forth till it stopped shooting shampoo out and NOT change the setting 'cause once I did shampoo squirted out again. The conditioner button worked great and said did the blow dryer. it was great to dry my dog that way. Honestly, i wanted to go to Animal Kingdom in Colton, because I KNEW it was going to be clean, especially since I saw on their self wash video it had a dog safe cleaner that you can use on your own before washing your dog, but I opted out because it's 20 mins away and this Petco is closer and WANTING to trust Petco hoping they were clean. I recommend going to Animal Kingdom if you want to self wash your dog, I am definitely going to be going there in about 2 weeks. And i'm excited. read more

We went in to buy a betta fish and some of the essentials and while we were going to ring up the woman that was helping us said she couldn't sell us the fish if we didn't have more than a 2.5 liter tank so then we went back to go find one and she was being very snotty to us so then she had us buy a glass container that wasn't all that. i also went on some other shopping sites and they have 0.5 gallon tanks for fish, yes that might be the minimum for the fish but we've had tanks where they were atleast 1.5 gallons. after all we got our fish after buying a larger tank than usual but customer service isn't great at all. read more

Do NOT take your pet here to the vet clinic. I'm new to the area at had an appointment at 2:30pm. Got there at 2:37pm, my dog used the restroom outside which held me up a little. Then it took 8-10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to check me in. As Melanie rolls very irritated and chewing on her lunch.. she tells me they have a 5 minute grace period and I can reschedule or cancel. I said I was 7 minutes late and have been waiting for yall for 10 minutes.... She said sorry that's the policy. No one is in the waiting room mind you. I come here all the time, did a pickup once and they helped me at the side counter. Cool. I come again today, I wait 10 mins until someone tells me I have to get in line. Ok cool. 4 of you and none of you told me within 10 mins of standing there... to get in line. I dont know what kind of training yall get but I've worked retail and fast food and I attend to customers right away and if I do a procedure with a customer once, it's because thats the way to do it. Scheduled groom for my 15 yr. old deaf dog for Tuesday 9 am appt. Received confirmation on Sunday. On Monday at 5 pm received call that appointment was changed to Wednesday because "online overbooked us" and manager has availability on Wednesday. So, I agreed to change it to Wednesday @ 9am and to bring vaccination record. I confirmed that my dog was 15 and deaf. Showed up Wednesday at 8:45 am, first person in line. At this point, I received 3 text confirmations and 2 emails from Petco. A woman came in after me and clerk stated, "let me help this person behind you first" which was rude. If you can't handle your dogs, is that reason you get to go to the beginning of the line? Apparantely, the clerk knew this lady and was playing favorites. She just ignored me and another gentlemen. Two other employees arrive, one was manager Lavelle K, who was scheduled to groom my dog. Lavelle asked the lady who skipped the line if she had been helped, but never asked anyone else. Then Lavelle asked me "which dog is this?" I told her my dog's name and she stated, "oh sorry, your dog is too old and wobbly. You'll need to take them to a vet for grooming." What? If Petco has an age limit, why did they not tell me? I also CLEARLY told the person who called me Monday night about my dog, but they were only concerned with updated vaccination paperwork. Petco requires 48 hour notice to cancel appointment, but Petco can cancel my appoinmtent when I show up? What about my gas money and time off for this appointment? Ridiculous! So I had a pretty good experience going to the Petco in Redlands California. I was a little concerned because my dog was a rescue dog, she was abused by her previous owners. So she's quite timid. This is her first time going to an actual place to get groomed. The person who groomed her is named Alyssa A. She was so kind and so nice. She treated my dog with such respect and was very understanding of her needs. I already booked another appointment to see her, I will be going once a month to see the same person who helped me out originally Alyssa. A . First of all the front desk people at the GROOMER station are TERRIBLE. I called and set an appointment and when i showed up they said there was no appointment set even though i repeated the time, location and my personal info. They finally help me. This petco has a groomer named DANNY with a nose piercing and short hair. I have never had a worse experience. For someone who's a groomer i couldn't believe she hates dogs. From the beginning she had an attitude with me. Told me she couldn't help my dog if he's too mouthy (he's a puppy). I understand policy. So i agreed. Then told me it will be a few hours. before i drive home 30 minutes I thought i'm going to wait around to see if they're even able to bathe my dog, as to not waste me time. BY THE WAY, The girls at the front thought I had left, so they talked shit about me and my dog and I heard all of it because i'm still in store. When they noticed me their faces lit up and they scattered like ants. I let it slide. After bringing him out, They told me to leave because he can see me and it will cause issues. So I hid behind the isles and shopped around. Seeing him moving and fidgeting I asked one of the workers to relay a message. The message was that he has commands: which are SIT, WAIT, and OFF. This will help make him easier to groom. I continued to hide. She storms out and told me "he's fine he's fine he's fine you need to go" mind you he can't see me. She cut me off multiple times as i tried to elaborate. so i asked are you okay??? because she looked PISSED that I was around the corner. Are people not allowed to watch their dogs get groomed?????? His back was to me i wasn't bothering anyone! I told her she had a fat ass attitude and asked what happened? So she returned my dog. This lady BLOWS. I talked to the assistant manager and he didn't do SQUAT. Naturally I yelled eff you and left a bad review cause i'm way too pregnant and way too tired to be dealing with terrible customer service. The people who work AT the petco store are actually very kind and the assistant manager wasn't a bad guy he just has no control over the groomer people. I recommend taking your dog elsewhere. Please train your employees how to handle a return! I have a repeat delivery for dry and wet dog food. So I pay over $100 each month. Delivery, for the most part is good. Except last month the wrong dry food was delivered. Instead of the chicken/rice, it was Salmon/rice for sensitive dogs . At the time our dog was itching and scratching alot. Not sure if it's the food, or seasonal allergens. So, I decided to try it instead of returning it. Turned out the dogs like it so I decided to change my April order to the more expensive Salmon. I had an unopened case of wet chicken/rice that was delivered mid-March. I took the unopened case (still in the outside shipping box with our label and words "Door Dash" written) to the Redlands Petco. Now, this is the 2nd time I go through the exact same experience: the associate first opens the box and then asks for a receipt. I tell him I have no receipt, it is a repeat delivery. I pull up the order details on my phone from my Petco account. He then scans 1 single can from the case after he rips it open and says "Shows you paid Zero". I immediately felt as if he was inferring that I am trying to scam him. I told him this happened before when I wanted to exchange the puppy food to adult food and that I was told I had to bring in the box which I didn't have. So this time I had the whole box and told him to scan the barcode on the side of the box. He did, and it came up. However, he tells me that he will have to do a Non-receipt return. I ask him why? I have all proof I paid for it and they don't give a receipt when it's delivered. Again, there was a line of people and I told him he made me feel like I went and took the case off the shelf and trying to get another for free! He apologized and said he will refund it. I then paid the difference for a case of Salmon which cost about $15 more than the chicken. I would stop shopping at Petco due to the incapable & improperly trained employees but I don't want to change my dog food again, while they are doing well so far. So, I hope if this happens again (I pray it doesn't) that it will be handled better. read more

Lavelle the manager is extremely rude. I was given a sedative for my dog from the vet inside of petco. I asked my husband to give it to him but he forgot. When I went to the store they said they won't take him with the sedative they provided me. My husband admitted he actually forgot it and it was clear my dog wasn't sedated. When I told them that she accused me of lying and wouldn't take him. I guess I should have looked at the reviews first here. I'm taking him to PetSmart instead. Scheduled a grooming appointment for my yellow lab to get a bath and deshed. He goes to the petco vet, and has been groomed at multiple other petcos and non-petco groomers without issue. He had a knee replacement at the age of 2 (he is now 7 years old) with complete healing 5 years ago and no additional with the knees or other health issues. He's been cleared by his vet and has been completely healed for over 5 years. The groomers said they spoke to their manager and due to the history of CCL tear and replacement they cannot groom him. Do NOT come here if your dog has ever had any sort of medical history, even if it was half a decade ago and has completely resolved, because they'll refuse service. If I could give 0/5 stars I would. I called PetSmart grooming to schedule and asked if they could groom him with CCL repair and they were so confused why it would be an issue in the first place. If they don't feel comfortable handling a dog who is completely fine/healthy, with a remote medical history (completely resolved) I wouldn't trust them with your pet. read more

Not enough vets available in vetco! I took my dog in on Saturday for a ear hematoma, I was told he needed surgery and they would call me back with a date, it's now Thursday and no phone call! My dogs hematoma burst yesterday so I called back today (at 8:45am) to see what the status is and if he can be seen since now its bursted and I don't want him to get infected. Their response was, vet is in surgery they'll be out at 1 pm. So I got no answers on to what to do with my dogs hematoma that burst. Now here I am waiting another 5-6 hours before I can call back AGAIN. - It's now 9:30am , I found a local vet hospital that let me bring in my dog right away and it was 80% cheaper than Vetco and more attentive ! This review is for the pet wash stations you do yourself. I don't go here for any other reason because everything is overprice. The tubs had this black mold. 2 of the 3 machines didn't work properly when selecting shampoo, rinse, conditioner, etc. The soap sucks and doesn't make the dog smell clean. It was very watery soap. Not worth the $20. Better off paying 10 to 15 more and having them groom the dog. Stations used to be $10 to wash your own pet, and they worked better. The blower to dry your pet is weak and cold. If you really need to wash your own pet, do it at home. read more

Horrible! Dissatisfied! Discriminated! I schedule a grooming appointment about two weeks ago. I got reminders to bring vaccination proof. We show up first thing this morning and provided the updated vaccinations from 10/2021 from the Mary Roberts adoption clinic. As two associates reviewed her records they inquired if there was an electronic form for these vaccinations. I stated the paper form I provided is what they gave and it was signed by their veterinarian. Then they stated that it is PETCO policy to have the electronic vaccination form. I inquired if this is stated on their website. Since the emails and text reminders did not specify this. They unfortunately, continued to state they would not be able to provide services and if I could get veterinarian to provide an electronic form then she can return for services. It was very frustrating to have to experience this type of customer service. I feel we were discriminated against. Since my dog is a husky and requires more work they did not accept her. Regardless if the vaccinations were paper form which was a carbon copy of the official vaccinations, it should have been acceptable. I even provided original adoption electronic forms that stated she had her other vaccinations when she was adopted. Again PETCO's website did not state an electronic or digital form was required. I mean I seriously think it was the BEST bath and haircut Luna has ever had. I added on the Holiday package, but they ran out of bandanas, so Christy gave Luna the cutest little bows by her ears. Another groomer Jenna, even offered me one of the bandanas that she bought herself to give to her clients! All 3 of these ladies were SO KIND and SO WONDERFUL with my baby. So my child thinking it's not being used took the basket to carry a 40 lbs bag of dog food. He came back and told her "I'm using that." RUDE and unprofessional groomers. They claimed my dog was aggressive and demanded that we leave. For context, my dog has been a training model at another Petco location in Torrance for two years. He has a perfect temperament and has been used BY PETCO to train dozens of groomers. Five minutes after I dropped my dog off at the Redlands Petco, my wife and I saw the groomer aggressively brushing our dog. She had complained to me that they were 'very busy' that day, and she looked irritated and rushed. My dog was clearly uncomfortable and in pain from his hair being yanked out. Seconds later, we got a text demanding we pick up our dog and claiming that he was being aggressive. NOT ONCE in two years of training Petco groomers had my dog been aggressive. At the training Petco in Torrance, it is STANDARD practice to greet and comfort the dogs when they come in. This calms them and prevents them from being 'aggressive'. The groomers at Redlands had not even bothered to greet my dog. When I picked up my dog, the groomer was rude and unapologetic. She offered no solution to calm my dog OR to reschedule. The grooming manager had conveniently disappeared and was nowhere to be found. Redlands Petco is the most unprofessional groomers I have EVER experienced. This department is clearly suffering from poor leadership and being overworked and undertrained. I sincerely hope this department receives proper training. Maybe then, they can stop unfairly blaming THE DOGS instead of their own lack of professionalism, as several other Yelp reviews have claimed as well. My beautiful and loving Schnauzer deserves better treatment than this after two years of service helping train Petco groomers. I hope corporate responds to this review or contacts me. read more

I left the store crying. I want to give negative stars. I am a Conure lady. I haven't seen conures at this Petco ever, and now I'm glad. They do not have the capacity to care for these birds before they find their forever home. I have two baby conures. They had two hand fed green cheek wild types with beautiful neck feathering. But, the behavior these birds were displaying shows they were very stressed, and horribly neglected. Their feathers were already showing signs of severe self mutilation. It's clear by the way one of the birds was rubbing his head on his "toy" that he was desperate for affection. Severe feather damage and plucking, and barbering of the tail. They are too young to be under this much stress. The condition of their cage was.... Disappointing to say the least. One of the birds was completely in the dark, they both had shocking water conditions; seed, food, and fecal matter in water dishes... water needs to be changed! It had clearly been sitting there for days. And to see the birds in this condition broke my heart. The feather condition of these wild type green cheeks... the feathers they did have were translucent. Tail feathers Short. Or Non existent. 60% shredded or missing tail. I am absolutely disgusted with Petco's staff at this location. The birds are horribly neglected. They need more interaction. The enclosure they were in was too small for a conure. The larger enclosure above was empty! The placement of the items in the cage were set so the birds would poop directly in their food/water! The staff is unable to handle these magnificent creatures. I tearfully told the person at the checkout line that the conure water needed changing, then apologized profusely... why did I apologize? I'll work that out in therapy. But I did NOT want to be a "Karen" about it. I literally also asked the checkout person if they offer credit cards because I was going to take these birds home. My husband had to stop me from selling crypto. I wanted to save these birds so badly, but all I can do (as I've exhausted my bird budget for the year) is spread awareness that these birds need HELP. If you can, please save these poor babies. If you can't, go elsewhere for your pet needs. I can't condone shopping at a PET STORE where they can't take care of PETS. I will be posting all over the internet and taking my business elsewhere in the future. Hello, I wanted to express my recent experience at your Petco located at 27580 W Lugonia Ave, Redlands Ca. I believe I was racially profiled, as I was spoken to like a kid, I wasn't helped and the guy was very "Apathetic" and Nonchalant about any questions I had. He had a vibe and energy as If I walked into his living room, and forced him inside Petco myself for help! It was ridiculous. I came in with my wife looking to purchase a new reptile. First off, I wasn't greeted, 2ndly, I had 2 employees walk right pass us without any questions or greetings, which I found rude in general. The biggest surprise to me was when the guy helping legit told me, "Your not going to take care of it, Are you seriously trying to get that cage? If your going to do it, do it right dude come on now don't be like that" Me and my wife looked at each other in discuss, like why and what makes him so comfortable to talk to us so rude? And with an aggressive tone to discredit us or imply that we will NOT take care of are new pet? Mind you, no name tag visible so I don't know his name, I just know he was Caucasian, had a teenage build around 5'5 and very flamboyant. The manager was a female, a little rounded in the waist, Caucasian with a short build 5'4 as well and wasn't very welcoming. Treated us like "Omg Colored people are here" which is a feeling we've gotten "used to". Personally, I don't know who or what gives him the confidence to be rude to customers, I don't know who or when I asked him for a personal opinion, and he also rudely kept walking away after every question I had. Actually didn't answer anything with accuracy or facts, just his own biased opinions. Then hints he was a "Reptile specialist/breeder" yet couldn't answer any of my questions on the specific lizard. Also didn't know the requirements to purchase the lizard I was looking at, but he works here? Shouldn't you know how to do your own job? It truly felt like a bad dream! Overall, my experience was so horrible at this Location I'd say a -0/10, not only did the help feel forced, I was treated rudely based off someone else's (self) assumptions that should have been professional while at work. After feeling like I'm not getting any results or any help whatsoever I asked to speak to another person or a manager. Then when a manger came, I personally asked for the requirements needed, mind you the associate should have already known or indicated what I need vs putting his own consternation upon us. The manager comes and says their is requirements to purchase. However she didn't know them herself so I asked for a printout, As I look at my wife in complete confusion and shock. She walks away and doesn't come back for a full 11min. Now I don't know it all, but I didn't think it look that long to grab any information that should have been a first response type of thing. None the less, with the irregular experience we had with employee # 1, with the negative "self-projecting" and lack of knowledge within their own job is mind boggling itself. I left! And the constant walking away after answering each question already indicated "I don't want to help you, or please figure it out on your own" so what's the point of having employees and an online app? Bad employees = losing customers, bad experience, lawsuits based of discrimination etc etc. Also, better engagement and proper training is needed for all associates, to work on better people skills, communication skills and how to leave all (awkward tension) at home.
