Love the grooming services! Erika grooms our 2 dogs and she does a fantastic job. She goes above and beyond--nails, ears, and coats are perfect and our dogs love her. So glad to have found a great place to take care of all our grooming needs. The vet clinic is also excellent. I love that there are veterinary services on site. Thank you PetCoach! read more

Horrid , I am sitting in vets office now waiting on blood work for my dog buff. He was seen March 8th for regular grooming ( not usual location) He now has staph, strep skin infection, waiting on blood work. Ha UTI also. SAW them use DIRTY towels on ears and groin, I ignored the employees only sign, as they NEVER called to pick up. 2 others with same concern, "where's my dog"? DO NOT USE!!!!!!!! They are going to PAY bills read more

I'm generally not a fan of the big pet stores but the employees at this location are wonderful! Very helpful and really take the time to make great recommendations. read more

The retail section of this store is great. This location of Petco is waaaay better in terms of selection and stock than the other nearby Petcos. I always get great service and advice on the floor when needed. The groomers here are also a lot more professional and knowledgeable in their craft. The one complaint I have about Petco is how they schedule their grooming appointments. I've come here a few times for grooming because they had offered a good price for their service but their prices have gone way up and the scheduling is awful. When I make an appointment I expect to be serviced at least sometime near the appointment time. I don't pay you guys $70 to crate my dog for the whole day and in turn take 6 hours to do the grooming. If you can't get to the dog in a reasonable amount of time then you shouldn't book the appointment. This complaint is probably geared more towards management as opposed to the groomers themselves. Like I said, the grooming always comes out great, but someone at petco needs to double check their system. read more

2 stars for Grooming experience for my 13lbs. Dog.. I always check my dog after groomed to see if there is an issue with the cut, nails etc. There was none at the moment and everything was perfect, gave the groomer a good tip. The next day, I brush my dogs hair (daily routine) and everything was good except the his hair on his head is full of ear powder, you couldnt see it but I felt it and I know its ear powder (Ear powder helps the ear canals stays dry and not to oily) so I noticed that his head is full of powder, I tried to brush it off because I was like oh maybe she just accidentally put some on top.. next day, when the powder wears off, i noticed my dogs hair (head part) is so uneven and just not good to see. I was mad because on that issue because they tried to be smart on it by putting ear powder to get it settled and to make look unnoticeable... I calmed myself to just brush it off and just let them know next time, but today I just cant hold it anymore when I see my dogs hair. LOL. esp. When i paid almost $70 for the groom. read more

They just told us they are shutting down all of their dog daycares. They just opened and we invested so much time with them. This news came at the worst time as I just decided to accept a new job and place my dog in their care daily while I worked. How could they do this to their members? My dog loved daycare and it was the best thing about their facility. We will be canceling our membership immediately and will never shop here again. Shame on this business for screwing over pet owners! read more

The best veterinary experience I have ever received. Instead of just throwing a bunch of unnecessary and overpriced treatments like most vets I've been to in the past. The vet and his assistant carefully examined my dog and recommended waiting to see if my dogs sprained leg would heal on its own. Explaining that if it doesn't then come back in a few weeks and get and X-ray and look into surgical options. Absolutely wonderful. I am a member at PetCoach and for 9.99 a month you get 5 free visits a year. That's gold. If you want an amazing experience at the vet there and also the rest of the store then do yourself and your four legged friends a favor and get right over to PetCoach. read more

I have used this place in the past with decent results. The last time I took my dog there Mike was the groomer and it will be just that....the "last time." The haircut done to my yorkie-maltese was terrible and uneven. I asked for his feet to be clean shaven and they were not. When I expressed my displeasure with the service I was told "thats the best we can do." it should be noted it was 20 minutes till closing time and both groomers on staff were cutting other dogs. Another gal was there asking if her dogs were done yet and she was told they needed another 45 minutes. Knowing the place closed in 20 minutes makes it clear they had overbooked that day and were just speeding through the groomings with more regard to time than quality. Not at all happy, and will not return. read more

This place is more than a Pet Store, its an experience. I walked in with my 2 small children and walked out over an hour later. If you asked my kids at this point whether they'd rather go to the Zoo or Petco - hands-down Petco. Between Robert the Manager and Kala another animal expert, they literally enriched my children and myself beyond words. We interacted with small animals, learned sensitivity toward animals and saw a side of animals that creates an awareness about their place on this beautiful planet. So thank you so much Robert and Kala and Petco, from the bottom of our hearts! Jeremiah, Finley and Jack read more

Big store with a lot of options. The location is great and the staff is nice. I like bringing my dogs here so they can sniff around and meet other people/dogs. We buy our pet food here and some toys when they are on sale as they last ~3 minutes on average before their stuffing is pulled out. All in all, good clean place with a lot of options for your pets. read more

Love this Petco grooming center-specifically Mike-but hate the price! The only reason we haven't gone somewhere else is because it's been convenient to just call and take her in. It costs us almost $70 to have our 8lb cat groomed...that's more than a salon expert cut for a HUMAN! I wish I could tip, but I feel like I'm getting robbed as it is :( read more

This has to do with fish. Long time patron of Petco in for about $1,200 annually for cat and bird food, but the recent experience and (lack of) resolution by management for my little $10 fish issue means no more $1,200 revenue per year and this post :-( Had tetras and half of them died once appropriately introduced to my tank (note; I have over a dozen fish--including tetras--getting along swimmingly--get it :-). 30 day guarantee to replace but the way it went down at the front counter with the "manager" of the store that day was unfortunate. His "aquatic specialist" was on hand who, after seeing the carnage of four one-inch tetra's in the little plastic baggie I brought declared a test of my water was required before they could possibly allow me to take home any more fish. That angered me. 1. I didn't know a "water sample" was required if a 2-dollar fish died. 2. They are 2 dollar fish 3. why do a dozen fish live quite well in the exact same environment, save for the ones you sold me? The snarkiness of the "aquatic specialist" was one thing, the inability of the store manager to resolve was another. I obviously couldn't resolve with the store manager because he either didn't know how or didn't care to. He said the only way to reach his boss was an 800 number which angered me more. I went to an 800 number where a "customer service" rep did everything she could to avoid me talking to the "regional manager" but that exchange was frivolous. As of this posting, the "regional manager" has yet to care to contact me. Sad. I was actually hoping a grown-up would call me and resolve. Not yet. I suspect will find individuals well more versed in all things fish at PetZone for my fish needs, and we are happy to go to Kahoots for all our other pet needs. Bottom line: if you want in and out come here if convenient. If you want something other than supplies, like service--look elsewhere. read more

We have been coming here since we adopted our dog in May. We are part of the PetCoach membership which originally was wonderful. We came in for a self wash an hour before closing and were told that they were already closing the tubs and that we wouldn't be able to do a self wash, previously it was last wash was 30 minutes before closing. It seems to be it depends on who is working what rules apply. While at first we were happy with the quality and services all of these changes and inconsistencies continue to be frustrating and we will no longer be recommending this establishment to our family and friends. I believe with all the negative changes that have been made in the last two months they will continue to lose customers. read more

My pup and I loved PetCoach and Erika - his groomer! She did a great job on his wash and haircut. Everything was also done in a timely manner. I couldn't be happier, that I was able to find a great new groomer - not an easy task, if you live in Ramona. Thanks, Erika and PetCoach! read more

When the store opened it was awesome! The staff was happy and excited the membership was awesome!! Now it's hard to get service or find someone that is knowledgeable in pet care. As everyone felt the need to tell me how they were loosing money on the pet wash - I dint find myself going into the store much. When I was in for a wash I always walked out with some new treat, chewy, or pet gadget. Now it's easier to go across the street to Kahoots and receive friendly customer service. read more

Soley is an excellent groomer at PETCOACH in Poway ! We take our two standard poodles to her every time and they always come out looking PERFECT ! She is very kind and sweet to our dogs. We change how we want their hair to be every now and again and she always is able to deliver on exactly what we want. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a a great friendly groomer ! FIVE STARS ! read more

This place is really good. The vet was quite attentive, and I did not feel upsold AT ALL. For me the monthly fee is totally worth it. Stellar experience read more

My review is for the pet hospital, which by far none is the absolute best vet experience my babies have ever had ! And I have been honored to have had multiple, multiiple fur children over the years, with multiple vets. Currently,I have an 18 year young kitty, Trippy, who suddenly turned 180 degrees health wise from being a spunky, bossy, "love you under my terms"- "your my slave" rule the roost most handsome and adorable cat to being very, very ill. Dr Day and Dr Drelich have been absolutely amazing! So caring, understanding and have come up with reasonable options to help me provide him a comfortable life. I haven't had to reach that very difficult decision but I wanted them to know how incredibly thankful and appreciative Trippy and and I are. From the receptionist to the vet techs, they have all been stellar! read more

This Petco is fantastic! The staff are friendly and knowledge. The pricing is fair, but they will usually price match if you can provide proof of a lower price elsewhere. If you have dog questions, I recommend you ask for Joseph, but anyone will be helpful and provide an honest answer. Ernie is great overall, but today he spent at least 30 minutes explaining what I need for a new kitten. He showed me where everything was and told me the pros and cons, in detail, for each product. Clearly, Ernie is extremely knowledgeable in all the products!! I highly recommend him for any questions you might need answered. The guy is definitely a multi brand specialist!!! Another plus about Petco is they will take anything back, with or without a receipt. read more

I've been to this location several times. All the employees have been very helpful and friendly, from helping us use the self-bath to helping me pick out supplies. I especially have to say that both Miguel and Dr. Baily in the vet office seemed very enthusiastic and genuinely enjoyed what they do. The wait was only about 10 minutes for the doctor to come in, and he made sure all my questions were answered. It seems like most of the negative reviews are from the grooming department. I cannot comment on that as I have not used the grooming. I have hit the "happy face" button as I exited the store on each occasion that I have been there. read more

First I'd like to start by saying that I don't normally patronize establishments like PetCo because I'd rather shop local and I don't care for their use of factory farming when it comes to their small pets such as birds and rodents (absolutely deplorable). Today though, I was in search of a specialty leash and thought they might have what I'm looking for. I haven't come into PetCoach since the transition from the regular Petco and I have to say I am super disappointed with the rude and uppity attitude of the staff. Very unwelcoming and uncomfortable place to be in. At least when it was a PetCo the staff were quite kind and lovely. I can assure you I'll never step foot in this place again. I'd would advise my fellow Poway residents to shop at the smaller family owned pet shops especially during this time or even the Kahoots across the way. read more

Where do I begin? Customer service is non-existent. I had a 5 PM appointment. I arrived a few minutes early. "You have to wait until your groomer gets back from lunch. We are not allowed to handle cats". Uh, by handle, you mean place their cages somewhere while they wait for the groomer? No. I don't wait on you. I am paying you. You wait on me. I walked out and attempted to cancel my membership. D'oh! No option to do that online. Emailed customer service. We'll see if they get back to us. The above is just an example of a long string of behavior at this place. We walk in, we're ignored, there's nowhere to wait. The employees are obviously underpaid and don't like their jobs. We asked about cat hair trimming. "You can't trim cat's hair". Uh, that's not true. Do yourself a favor: support local independently owned groomers and ditch this place. This is just corporate America for your pet. Huge profits for the company with underpaid workers. Good luck getting through on the phone when you call here as well. read more

Bailey the cashier was not friendly at all.. She didn't greet us at all.. I asked her a question and very rudely she said "no.".. She didn't thank us for shopping at Petco.. You at least get greetings at Walmart.. No good customer service! read more

I ran in there panicking because I was petsitting for some dogs and a cat but the owners also have fish. One had already died on Saturday and I came home to find another face down in a corner but breathing. Having a fear of fish I told Lindsay I couldn't possibly change the water out. She gave me some treatments and I ran home to administer them. Half an hour later the fish is up and swimming! I'm so grateful and I hope it continues to improve :-) read more

I would like to give a big big shout out to the vet Dr. Day. We rescued three kittens all sick and very underweight. Dr. Day and his staff were wonderful and helping us get one the right track. Abby (one of the kittens) became very very sick and Dr. Day n team jumped into action. Her body temperature was a lot lower then it should be. She was really struggling. They did everything they could for her. She has pneumonia and because she's under weight and weak as it is she might not make it. Or as dr. Day said, "we're not out of the woods just yet" they have done so much for her and with in a few hours Abby was making us all proud. Thanks so much for basically saving my kittens life dr day!! read more

I was looking for a reasonably priced Vet when a friend recommended Poway PetCoach. Not only did I find a wonderful and superior Vet in Dr. Day; his entire staff has been phenomenal! We love the convenience of having our Vet and retail store for all of Murphy's nutritional needs located under the same roof. Every employee that we have encountered has been nothing short of informative and professional... the crown jewel was in Meeting Amanda who has become Murphy's Groomer... she LOVES Amanda, and as a "Pet Parent", we all know how important it is to know our Fur Babies feel safe in the company of their caregivers. I am a PetCoach Member for life ~ read more

Manager is completely rude and confrontational, will not be spending my money there anymore. Will most definitely drive further to get my animal products now. read more

The woman who groomed my mini Schnauzer did a horrid job. She cut his eyebrows straight across, she scalped him on his private parts and put white cream on them. Did not even do his ears. No skirt. Her excuse was he wouldn't stand still. You know, less than 5 minutes of help would have gone long way. I took him to Escondido Petco 6 weeks later and Kim did a fabulous job. Now he looks like the 100% schnauzer he is read more

After three hours of waiting they told me they couldn't get my dog on a table so they couldn't groom him at all. They would have kept me longer had I not asked about my dog. They had him sitting by himself in a back room while I was feet literally feet from the storefront. The most unprofessional groomers I've ever dealt with. read more

I cannot say enough about how happy I am with Pet Coach. The staff is always friendly, the store is always clean, but most of all, we love their groomer, Amanda. My Lily is a 2 y/o poodle with 13lbs of poodletude. She's been sent home from other groomers, but Amanda has the golden touch (and she is able to put a bow in Lily's hair, which has been impossible for others). I highly recommend you become a member, it's worth the $9/mo. We have used every service offered at this Pet Coach and we love it. read more

Morgan the manager or assistant manager, not sure which position she holds but she was so informative and helpful today and it made me very grateful that I chose to go to Petco instead of PetSmart. Catie groomed my 4 month old Shih Tzu. She asked me questions, I gave her my ideas and requests and then I left. She did exactly what she said she would and my puppy looks and smells great. It took about 2 hours on a mellow day. I like that they are thorough on checking for vaccinations, it's reassuring. The facility is pretty plush and clean. I highly advise anyone who is picky about what they want, to find pictures online to help describe a preference. Price did not seem extraordinary at all, then again my dog is 5 pounds. I was not asked to tip, however when I tried, I found out they can only accept cash tips. As for the store - my husband says it feels "dingy" inside. I have no qualms, the staff is helpful but thankfully don't hover quite like they do at Kahoots. read more

Amazing and attentive care. Our (11-year-old) dog went in for a dental cleaning. They pulled 12 teeth for an extremely reasonable price. The doctors and staff were kind, thoughtful and professional. They brought us back our old boy in excellent health, and kept us notified throughout, giving us peace of mind through the whole process. Afterwards we went to speak to a food specialist who spoke to us for a long time and recommended specific products for our old dog who is now missing several teeth. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

Love this place!!! Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. They keep their store clean and have everything you would want for your pets (everything is displayed and sectioned out to make it easy to grab and go). Self grooming station is super convenient and I can't lie...pretty fun for my kiddos to get in there and help out. This review is just for the self wash. It is very close to being a 4 star, but unfortunately there are a couple (major for me) issues. They water down their shampoo to the point that I needed to use two large bottles on my golden, and still didnt get a good lather. The other issue is their dryers, they don't blow nearly hard enough on high, and low is completely useless. The first is easily. fixed, the second may be as well. Hopefully someone reads this and makes some changes as they are very convenient for me. read more
