On our recent trip, we took our 2 cats with us bc we were planning on staying a couple weeks at our Farmhouse but we only stayed a week due to all the rain so we left prematurely & came back here to Florida. Anyway, our 2 cats were very upset the whole trip, as it rained & rained, didn't want to be in the cage in the car, threw a fit the whole way back, oh la la :( Soon as we get back, it's raining like a monsoon here also & there, at my front door, is a little baby kitten sittin on my doorstep. Wet, cold, shivering, malnourished, starving with a harrowing meow, cute little baby kitten. Yes, God gives us the most wonderful gifts when we least expect it. So, hubby & I pick her up & bring her into our garage, feed her & let our other 2 cats out of their travel cage from the long stormy drive. They were so happy to be home & the new kitty was so happy to get a home. That made us all happy, as we are now a happy family of 5. Just like Pirate'cola the city of 5 flags. We now have one 3 legged pirate cat, "Skipper" & his British plundering wench sissy "GinGin" and now, a stole away conquistador (French oyster) named "HuÎtre." Oui, all week has been a train wreck. Thank God for Petco. Kitten food, flea baths, wormer, new digs, beautiful "la vie rose" pink rose collar, toys etc., Babysitting, acclimating, moi adorable new petit trésor baby kitty "Huître" has left us exhausted but feeling like one big happy family, eating & sleeping well during the week-long monsoons of Pirate'cola. Très magnifique! Thanks to Petco's awesome kitten inventory we quickly got everything we needed, plus got signed up to the rewards program to get rewards for every future purchase for Huître, Skipper & GinGin. Oui oui, we thank you for your awesome assistance in saving little Huître. Elle est à la maison. (she's home) Petco & Huître, has proved both, a unexpected treasure. I use to love buying my saltwater fish and invertebrates here but I won't ever buy here anymore. Because their tanks are terrible, they even had a handful of fish dead in them. Why can't they hire someone who is actually passionate about the tanks and clean them and make sure the fish are healthy and stocked well. All of the snails and hermit crabs were pretty much all dead. So had and they have very over priced I can drive just as far and get them from a Company who specializes in saltwater aquariums. read more

This review is related to store policy and not the wonderful staff. I am very displeased with PetCo's supposed rewards program for dog food. They do not allow customers to redeem the free bag of dog food unless we download the store app. I have been a loyal customer to PetCo exclusively because they sell a rather hard to find (and pricey) dog food called Orijen and they informed me when I moved to Pensacola in June that they do participate in the buy 10 bags of dog food and get the 11th bag free. I have now reached my 12th bag of food and when trying to redeem the free bag, the store staff advised me to download the app, I asked if I can redeem some other way as I have been buying this dog food for 12 years across Florida and have always enjoyed the free bag by only providing my phone number in the store. The staff was quite friendly and suggested I go to the website; of course, at the site I had to create a profile to view rewards and provide my address and email in addition to my phone number. I was unable to determine how to redeem the free bag, so I called the store, and I was again advised to download the app; I declined, and it was suggested I try customer service. I called customer service; they advised there is no other way to redeem the free bag except download the app - I am not willing to download an unwanted app, nor provide permissions to my personal phone data for a free bag of dog food. I will be seeking another store to buy this food - perhaps back to PetSense in GB where they honor this program with just a phone number - if I would have known this when I moved to Pcola, I would have bought the last 12 bags in GB, too :( read more

Grooming is fantastic, but the store as a whole is pretty terrible. Workers are nice and helpful but the store is super disorganized and chaotic. There are always carts and pallets of product blocking the aisles and it seems like they are constantly rearranging the shelves to the point that I can never find what I need. Or I can find it at all because it's not on the shelves-it's likely in the pallets that are sitting in the aisles. I've been coming to this store for a long time and it's just getting worse and worse. Today was my last straw because I'm just really tired of not being able to find anything. read more

went to potentially purchase a couple ferrets that we asked about last night coming in the store today. said we'd come back. we came in and asked to hold one of them and she said "we don't do that here" so you expect someone to pay $399 a ferret but have no interactions with them before purchasing them? how do you expect someone to be able to know if they will fit with you without having an interaction. do better. This was the dirtiest pet store I have ever been in. The ferret cages had about 4 days worth of ferret crap in them. I felt sorry for the animals. To top it off I grabbed a bag of Nutro cat food which said 16.99 on the shelf label and they charged me $25. I actually did not go back in there to get a refund because the place was so dirty. I took my dog here for grooming and Ashley was amazing! I adopted my dog so she has spent time in a shelter/kennel and Ashley took all of that in to consideration when handling her. She came out looking and smelling wonderful. Would definitely recommend. read more

My husband and I were very hesitant to bring our dogs to be groomed, they tend to get very anxious in new places with new people. We decided to give it a try since it's quite challenging to do it in our bath tub. Coleby was the most gentle and caring groomer we've ever dealt with, she gave our pup the extra loving she needed in order to feel comfortable and happy during the entire process. Thanks to Coleby our pup looks and feels gorgeous again. We will be coming back all the time thanks to her. read more

In these difficult times, the groomers at Petco were fabulous in safety and kindness to my two dogs who really needed a professional grooming. The professionalism was very much appreciated. The dogs look great, and I would definitely recommend their services. This review is for Vetco at the Petco store. I set up an appointment back in November to get my dog's rabies shot. The day before the appointment I am told they don't have the tags available so the appointment is cancelled. In December I arrive at Petco for the appointment and get a call in the parking lot that my appointment has been cancelled yet again due to a vaccine reaction. Fine, one last chance. Today I get a text that my appointment is, for the third time in a row, cancelled. No reason given. Oh but I do have a coupon for 20% off my next visit. Um no, there won't be a "next" visit. Vetco is very unreliable and I will not be giving them another chance to put off my dog's healthcare for yet another month. read more

I have a dachshund with food allergies--I went through at least half dozen different types dry food trying to find something that didn't make her itch. Robert was the staff person that introduced me to the concept of 'no feathers' (no duck, turkey, etc) when dealing with a dog with food allergies--she's on Natural Choice salmon/sweet potato with no issues. I'm always greeted in this store, asked 'can I help you?' and checked out by pleasant customer oriented employees. Their customer service is a breath of fresh air. read more

Do NOT bring your pets here to get groomed. Not only was the woman very unkind, but we dropped our dogs off at 10AM with an appointment that ended up taking 6 hours. When we dropped in at 2 to see if they were finished, they had just finished the bath. A 6 hour grooming appointment is ABSURD, and our dogs ended up sitting in a crate doing nothing for hours. I have used PetCo grooming at other locations in the past religiously, but since moving to Pensacola, this location has been subpar at best. We will not be back. read more

I have visited Petco several times throughout my life. My husband and I have rescued three turtles and own two sugar gliders. We have always had a pleasant experience which is why we always come back. A month ago, a coworker rescued a 2 week old kitten after the kitten's mother was ran over. The coworker could not keep the kitten therefore my husband and I decided to step up to the plate and rescue the kitten. Knowing nothing about bottle feeding and raising cats in general, we went to Petco for advice and supplies. Robert, who is bilingual and used to run a shelter for cats, spent thirty minutes with us explaining the most important steps. Petco has a plethora of cat food and seeing that I was overwhelmed, Robert focused on what our kitten's needs were for the next two weeks. He showed us what we would need and even printed out instructions for taking care of newborn kittens. Robert did not stop there. He gave us a packet of coupons to use on our purchase. The above and beyond service did not end when Robert brought us to the cashier for checkout. Amy, the cashier, was just as informative and pleasant. The over-the-top treatment has not stopped since that first day, over a month ago. I forgot the coupons last week when we went to buy the actual kitten hard food and the cashier provided a new coupon book for us. We will continue to come back. read more

Local Petco management is wonderful. I had joined the Petco rewards and was supposed to get a free pound of treats for my dog on her birthday. I never received the email from their corporate saying I could get it and when I called them they said it takes a year before it goes into effect. I talked to the manager, Stephanie, at the Pensacola Petco and she said that I could come in and get the free treats. She was very nice and helpful. When I got to Petco, Stephanie was not in but a male manager was and he was also super nice. He said I could go ahead and get a pound and a half of free treats and that I should not have to wait a year like corporate told me. Wonderful local managers.
