We switched from Davis Animal Hospital to Pine Meadows after one of our dogs had to be euthanized at four years old and I felt they had done a poor job with her care. Switched with my new dog to PMVC and was immediately dissatisfied with the level of personal care. I just got a very impersonal vibe from everyone starting at the front desk. When my dog came up with a skin issue and I called to make an appointment on a Wednesday and they told me they had no appointments until the following Tuesday - but I could either drop her off in the morning and they would try to work her in between patients - OR I could pay an EMERGENCY FEE for an actual appointment. That was the final straw. I called Chemstrand and was able to get her in right away. We had just acquired two senior dogs from a neighbor and they went to Chemstrand, so we have all four of them there now. Pine Meadows and Davis are both more than likely now owned by some private equity firm, since they both built big fancy new facilities in the past couple of years and started being all about the money. Chemstrand is privately owned and very compassionate. This is happening every where. Support your privately owned vets!!!! Tried to get a flea/tick pill as we do every month, but this time they refused, even though I have taken my dogs there for a little over 10 years, I was told he needed another exam, heart-worm check, etc. ($$$$) It was only for another month, then we could bring them both in, but they refused and said, "no." So therefore until I pay them lots of money for the visits/exams, they will refuse our already healthy dogs a preventative flea/tick pill. Just recently: I called and literally had to beg the staff to see our dog, I told them that if you press on the front of his throat, he whines and yelps loudly, they finally agreed, so we rush over there, once inside, we waited patiently for about 15 min. ... the Dr. walks in takes out his stethoscope starts to listen to him on auscultation, did some hiking of the back legs to look for anything out of place, etc., then quickly proceeded to tell me about this particular breeds spine and how delicate it is, and how "he probably hurt his neck by jumping off of the furniture" (something he never does), then proceeded to prescribe painkillers and steroids, and also a shot (I declined the shot). I challenged the Dr. by saying, "I just truly don't believe that it's his neck or spine, I believe it's his THROAT, if it were his neck or spine, he would be yelping every time he turned his head side-to-side and up & down, which he was doing a lot of, with NO PAIN (we even maneuvered our dog's head in an upward position, as the Dr. asked us to do, once we did, the Dr. could clearly see that the movement didn't hurt our dog at all). I went on to say, "as soon as you take your finger tip and press on the front of his throat, he yelps!" The Dr. said, "I felt his throat area and his glands are not swollen." Me: You can clearly see that when you press on his throat he almost jumped off the table! This is not his spine, apparently the Dr. didn't care to hear my thoughts, opinions, facts, etc., he then turned to leave the room, and as he opened the door to walk out, he turns and says to the technician, "We've done all we can do, they're good to go." Then the tech printed out papers in the room, took my credit card and charged us almost $200 and billed it as an ER visit (during regular business hours!) The outcome: once we got our dog home it turned out through vomiting that he had something stuck in his throat this whole time (part of a store bought dog bone broke off and a piece had apparently gotten stuck in his throat). Bottom line is, our dog could have died, but instead was repeatedly told about spines and furniture jumping! I will never go back to this "box of chocolates" place (you never know what you're going to get)! They did NOT care one bit, even after pleading with the DR. that there is NOTHING wrong with our dog's "spine," it's his throat ... it was like he looked right through me as I was talking, everything literally went in one ear and out the other. He was just full of himself and it made me very uneasy, because he spoke to me as if I had no intelligence whatsoever on the subject matter. A few days ago, I got a call from one of the other Dr.'s, who just happens to be married to the Dr. that greatly misdiagnosed our dog, to talk about the incident. I explained everything in great detail/depth, then was told that she feels like he (her husband) made the best call regarding what he thought it could be" knowing that this type of dog breed can have spine issues and that this is not an uneducated guess/diagnosis from him (her husband). I reminded her that we have been coming there for a very long time and I also know this dog breed, I have a very good understanding of their spines, which is the reason why they don't jump off of our furniture. I reminded her that we've raised different ones for many years and this had nothing to do with his spine and that he's a very strong 3 yr. old dog.... After bringing several dogs to them for many years, I realized after this stressful incident and the waste of time phone call, that they are NOT deserving of seeing our pets ever again. At the end of the call, she kindly said, "if you have any more questions, please give me a call." I was stunned that she brushed everything off right under the rug, with such calmness, even after telling her the whole story and how we were charged for a misdiagnosis and on top of it, an ER charge during business hours! In my opinion, I feel like their handling of our situation was nothing short of unethical. I left there very stressed out and like a "no-name-number." It's all about the money ... In the end, we were sent home to figure it out on our own, while scared to death that our dog was going to die. read more

11 August 2023. The vets, including Zachary Westrick, who works at the PINE MEADOW VETERINARY CLINIC, located at 610 W. Nine Mile Rd., Pensacola FL 32534 has developed into a MONEY-CENTRIC, NOT PET-CENTRIC vet & facility. We, my Airedale and I had been using them since she was born in 2017, when they had a small practice at 550 W. Nine Mile Rd. They used to be a rather compassionate vet in the small practice, but I noticed a drastic change when they built the "new" vet building next door at 610 W. Nine Mile Rd, their current location about in 2020. As a side note, after moving they required me to "register online" with their clinic. Immediately after I was DRENCHED in spam emails & Robo-calls! I told them to take me off their "network" and haven't had a problem since; blocking all the 'pet style' spam I was getting. They were clearly selling/marketing our information. The front staff is fairly clueless, and obviously being directed/driven by the vets on staff to over-schedule pets for "exams" unnecessarily early, to restart the yearly cycle, using various excuses. They RARELY, if ever answer the phone when called. Just plan to leave a message & they will get back to you at their convenience (3 years' experience with this). Circa June 2023, a friend found a cat that had apparently been run over by his driveway, and wanted to euthanize it by drowning. That disturbed me, so after nursing it that evening & it appeared to be doing a bit better, the following day I took it to Pine Meadow vet simply to get an opinion if it should be euthanized or not - just a quick look - no in-depth exam as I figured it was likely not going to survive. The front staff told me to take a seat and wait for them to "schedule an appointment" before any vet would look at it. Upon showing them the cat in the square plastic tray, laying on a towel, in obvious distress (internal injuries or broken hip/back) I explained I just needed a simple opinion as to the cat's viability of survival or death, AND THEY ARGUED WITH ME UNTIL THE CAT DIED ON THE RECEPTION COUNTER! Utterly careless and just HAD to have that "exam fee"! My dog had an "annual" exam with Westrick 10 Aug 2022 (note the date), and I went to get a 6 month Heartworm/"Heartgard" refill 9 Aug 2023 (following the original Rx & Heartworm test May 2023). On 9 August 2023 the staff was going to sell the Heartgard & NexGuard (flea/tick med) (preventatives); yet they said their "computers were down", and wanted me to "pay by my phone"... I refused as I never do that (and they likely sold my contact information previously); and gave them my phone number - on a separate note pad - for them to call me when their computers were back up, and I would come back for the preventatives, (and possibly schedule an annual exam). They never called me back or mentioned the last "exam" was almost expired. I waited an extra day, (10 August) called them & they said their computers were back up. My schedule wouldn't allow pickup for that day. Only upon arriving at Pine Meadow today 11 August 2023 (note the above dates) they said they couldn't give me the heartworm preventative (despite my dog having the last heartworm test 3/2/2023!) unless they completed an "annual exam" ($55.00) on Macy, a perfectly healthy 7 year old dog with a 5-month old heartworm test! (2nd trip wasting time & gas). Oh, the front office desk 'staff' said it was "their policy" (despite they were going to give the preventatives 2 days prior), but because the "annual exam" was overdue by ONE DAY (remember their internet / computers were conveniently broken down 2 days ago) . Westrick explained that he could NOT prescribe the heartworm, "by law"; and when I asked which law so I could read it, he changed his story to, "I can't give any heartworm to (Macy) because THE FLORIDA DPBR (Department of Business and Professional Regulation) prohibits him "due to their rules/policies" "requiring an ongoing relationship" with an animal, i.e. an "annual exam". They have a 5 -year history of Macy's weight at consistently averaging 67 pounds. The Heartgard Macy takes is for weights from 51-100 pounds. Westrick was very agitated that I wouldn't believe his claim that the Florida DPBR was "directing" him not to dispense Heartgard preventative unless he had an annual exam, despite Macy having a heartworm test 5 months ago & continuously on the medication; notwithstanding the "annual exam" was only over by 1 day! I checked online ... and I checked specifically the Florida DPBR's website. The claim Westrick made is a ghost. The original claim it was a "law" was flatly a lie. Use this vet office at your own risk! Despite the building looks nice; the staff & vets: dispassionate would be an understatement, arrogantly thinking the customer works for them. read more

Appointment time is spot on, maybe 5 minutes or so but much better than most vet or human clinicians. Everyone is so nice here thinking of your pet's health. The atmosphere is quiet, ok maybe a bark or two or meow, but it is clean and the staff very professional, just what you would want for yourself if you were going to your doctor. Easy to get to right off Nine mile Road and Fowler, across from Lowe's. Dr Stafford is wonderful for our Yorkie because she has such a caring attitude towards animals, or as I say, our 4 legged children. Highly recommend read more

This vet clinic used to be extremely great and provided excellent care--Since they have moved into the new location (next door) they are non responsive and not customer friendly and can't properly manage their business-They just focus on money-Dr Westrick is not knowledgeable-Dr Coy, his wife and Sabrina have always provided great care, however now they are unresponsive to the owners/pets needs and strictly want to turnover rooms--The wait time is awful-and most likely due to overbooking-The front staff is rude, not knowledgeable about vet care, but will try to make you think they have clue about the information they are providing-Very disappointed in the vet clinic they have become-This is a prime example of the individuals you hire define your business- read more

Unprofessional and unethical! Our cat was missing for several weeks and is microchipped. A client of this office brought our cat in and she was scanned for a microchip. The office allowed their client to take our cat home and they didn't follow protocol alerting the microchip company to know that the cat had been taken to a finders home. We were alerted that our cat was found by the microchip company and were instructed to contact vet office. When we contacted them they stated they had no information about our pet. We insisted that we were informed and had documentation that the cat belonged to us and the microchip company told us they received a call from the vet. After standing in their office for almost an hour we finally got them to give us the information as to who had our cat. We contacted the people and they had treated her at the clinic and everyone acted as if it was their cat. I requested the records of the treatment they had done and on them they left her microchip number blank, concealing the fact she was microchipped and belonged to someone else. Our email that was listed on the microchip info was current and vet office could of contacted us via email. That is how we were contacted by the microchip company. Microchip company informed us that the vet was supposed to notify them as to the whereabouts of the animal..as if they were keeping the animal or sending it with the finder and gather finders info but they simply sent it with the finder, knowing it was a microchipped animal. When we arrived at the office the receptionist told me they used sticky notes to keep track of lost pets. Sticky notes..? That doesn't seem like a very organized system of keeping info especially when they have a computer sitting at the desk. The other receptionist stated they didn't scan our pet... I had to prove to them they had scanned her by producing an email. I'd recommend getting your staff organized and updating your system of cataloging information. Sticky notes don't cut it and can easily be lost. read more

4/15/2024 Had an appointment at 11am you would think if you have an appointment and you arrive 15 minutes early you would be in the exam room and the vet would be in the room by at least 15 minutes past appointment time. Right? Not here.. 45 minutes past the appointment time NO VET has entered the room. My dog was actually getting restless, about the wait sitting in the small room. I exited the room went to front lobby as walking in room the staff said have a good day. With no concern of why I'm exiting though this direction instead of exit by examining rooms. I turned and stated we had not been seen, we have waited 45 minutes, if I can go to my doctors and be seen faster than my dog can be seen there is a problem, also if they don't have time for me I don't have time for them. Our appointment was at 11am not 12 noon. Or later. If you are unable to see your clients/patients in a timely manner then you need not to over book yourselves. This vets office since moving to New building has turned into ... a racket just to see how much money they can take from you, way over charge for everything, rude, no longer actually care for your pet just want your money, not personal or friendly at all. It's as if you are a burden to speak with. They didn't offer any resolution before we left. Didn't even attempt to say, hey wait one moment and we will get the vet right now.. NOTHING .. when I called later in day to get my dogs records to transfer to another vet they hung up on me 3 times, on top of being very short with me and rude. read more

I will start by saying I normally never write reviews, but was so unbelievably shocked at what happened, I wanted to make sure all pet parents choose the best vet for their fur children. We have been clients to Pine Meadows for the last 2 years and for the first 2 years they seemed great! Place was clean, employees were pleasant. We have a two dogs, a corgi and husky/golden. We have family watch our corgi as she has anxiety, but our husky/golden mix does great when being boarded. We boarded our husky/golden mix with their recommended boarding company, Miss Pearls. Had no issues with their boarding the first two times. The third time when we arrived Miss Pearls, they informed us she was not up to date with her shots, so they needed to board her at Pine Meadow Vet Clinic. It was more expensive so we were expecting exceptional care of our fur child. We came back from vacation, picked her up and realized when we got home that she was soiled (smelled of pee) and had broken BOTH her bottom canines. As one could imagine, we were extremely upset and distraught. We called Pine Meadows and said the doctor would call us shortly. About 30 minutes went by and no response. We drove up to Pine Meadows and they explained this happens frequently with dogs... I was SHOCKED!! They had no care for our dog nor tried to rectify the situation. Thankfully, we had pet insurance, as we got in contact with a dog dentist over in Jacksonville, FL. The cost was about $6,000 total to cap both bottom canine teeth. I will never use Pine Meadows again! read more

I never thought I would write a review about a vet clinic but pine meadow really is so deserving of all the praise!! I started taking my cats here after a emergency visit to the pet ER, ever since I have just been blown away about their courtesy, attention to detail, and kind staff! Yesterday my cat Ben had most of his teeth removed and they were just so kind during intake, I was crying and stressed and worried and the technician was so reassuring and took the time to explain the entire procedure to me and answer all my questions. After the surgery was done the surgeon called me personally and answered all my silly questions for an entire ten minutes! I didn't feel rushed or stupid and that is important to me, iv had experiences in the past where I felt dumb for not knowing what to do or having questions but this is just never the case with this staff. Even after a regular check up my main vet will call if the appointment was not in person to go over every detail. They are honest with their estimates and do their best to make everything attainable for even clients like me (broke college student). I seriously can't rave enough about this office! If you are new to the area or just looking to find a new vet, this is absolutely the only option in my opinion! read more

Had a cat-tastrophe. Kitty got handle of large plastic bag on his head as I turned my back while unloading groceries he ran through the house with bag in tow at high speed until he wore himself out. He had blood on his rear paw, waited a few days before calling Pine Meadow Veterinary Clinic, I could smell foul odor and he had started to limp. They took care of him within hours of getting my call. He had ripped 3 of his claws completely out. I'm very thankful that they took care of him so fast! Highly recommend Pine Meadow. The location can be tricky to get into, depending on traffic, but this is the only place in Escambia County I'll take my pets to. You can tell all the staff loves what they do, and are both kind and professional at the same time, while keeping your let's best interest at heart. I am writing this more about Dr. Sabrina Hoffman than the clinic itself. Dr. Coy and Dr. Stafford are great. However, I had to bring my tiny Boston Terrier to be put to sleep. She had cancer and could not eat and threw up everything she did eat. She was miserable. Anyone with a heart knows how hard it is to make that decision. I don't even tryI held my sweet fur baby while Dr. Hoffman injected her. My companion of 13 years started writhing in my lap and clenching her jaws. Like a human having a heart attack. This went on for what seemed like forever. She didn't give her the correct dosage to put her to sleep peacefully. Instead of getting up and doing something about it, which she could have. She sat and watched it with me. And did nothing to stop it. I am not writing this without thought. It's been 4 and 1/2 years I have carried this in my heart. I paid her to torture my dog. Instead of going out peacefully, the last thing she knew was intense pain. I have had to do it with 2 others and some before and it was never like that. I have talked with other Drs. and observed a lot. This did not have to happen and once noticed she did nothing to fix it. Nothing. It took my dog several minutes to die. All while struggling and clenching her jaws in my arms. Imagine that for a moment with your beloved pet. I don't even trust myself to be in the same room with that woman again. They take a vow to do no harm. She did a lot that day. Not only to my dog but to me. I still cry. It was horrible and I have never been back. read more

I am new to the area and just recently adopted a dog from the Pensacola Humane Society. The staff at the Pine Meadow Animal Clinic was friendly, kind, and welcoming. My appt was at 5pm and I was promptly taken to an exam room where a vet tech came in and took care of my dog. There was no unnecessary waiting and the doctor was fantastic. Over the last several years I brought my 6 dogs in to Pine Meadow for regular care and treatment, to urgent care visits. I have several large dogs(60+ pounds to 115pounds) and even though a couple of my dogs have been less than cooperative at times, all the staff have been extremely patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They helped educate and prepare me when I had an unplanned litter of puppies to deliver and raise, and always go above and beyond with treating my animals. They also go out of their way to make sure you save as much money as possible, they don't try to bleed your wallet dry. Furthermore, they do whatever it takes to get your pet the help it needs, as soon as it needs it, to include blood donations. They are always honest and upfront with everything, and don't try to trick you into anything unnecessary or questionable. I have never felt so comfortable or confident in both veterinary or boarding services. I have an English Bulldog and Boston Terrier and they like going there. When we take them to board, they run in. When we pick them up, they walk out happy and clean. On a recent trip, the vet called to tell us Bearheart had an ear infection. We agreed on a treatment plan and knew he would be cared for while we were gone. Such a relief to have such wonderful care for our family pets! read more

Dr Hoffman was excellent, she didn't want to put my dog under anestesia for teeth cleaning and just scraped off the tartar while we are there. I have a German Shepherd service K-9 so I am very careful when selecting a vet. After having an extremely bad experience at East Hill Animal Hospital, I luckily found Pine Meadow Vet Clinic. The office was very clean and the staff were friendly. The vet assistance did a great job as did the vet. They took their time and gave my K-9 a thorough evaluation along his annual with vaccinations. They followed up the next day with a courtesy phone call to make sure there were no reactions to the vaccines. I highly recommend this vet office. read more
