I recently brought our miniature schnauzer to Donna at Vanity Fur with very specific instructions: I asked that his few small mats under the pits of his legs be worked out or trimmed/ cut and that I did not want him shaved- Something she did before without consulting with me. Miniature Schnauzers can mat easily because their traditional cut leaves longer hair on the legs, chest, and beard. That longer hair traps dirt, moisture, and debris, especially if they are active and live in areas with high amounts of underbrush and leaves. Instead of having a respectful, professional conversation with me, Dawna made snarky remarks to me in front of another customer, saying our dog would look like "Swiss cheese" and "look stupid," but that she would do it anyway. She even added that she prefers to "shave him naked" rather than have him look like Swiss cheese, and dismissed my concerns by saying, "It's just hair. It will grow back." This was unprofessional and unnecessary -- especially saying it in front of another customer, which made me uncomfortable and embarrassed. As a paying customer, I do not not hire a groomer for what she wants to do; I pay them for what I request, provided it is safe for our dog. I expect respectful communication and clear explanation of options -- not sarcasm or ridicule. A good groomer should work with owners to find the best solution for the dog, not belittle their request. When I hire someone for a service, they work for me -- not the other way around. I'm paying for what I want done, not for what they'd rather do. I will not be returning and hope this feedback encourages Donna and Vanity Fur to practice more professionalism and respect for future clients. Based upon my past interactions with Donna, I fully expect her to double down and leave a baseless and falsified response to justify her rudeness and unprofessional behavior. Nothing says "professional" like blaming your own paying customer when you get called out. Instead of fixing the problem, I fully expect Donna to deflect, and made excuses. These photos of our sweet little guy were taken the day after his grooming after the small mats were trimmed and as everyone can see, he doesn't look "stupid" or like "Swiss Cheese" and didn't need to be shaved like the owner preferred. It is our contention the Donna was rudely pushing the lazier route of shaving him to save her extra work and time. Additionally, just as I expected, I received a nasty text message from Donna in which she vowed notify other groomers in town to blackball us as customers and she falsified the majority of her response to my review. It was our first time at this groomers. We recently moved from TX. After looking on Yelp and reading reviews I decided to leave a message. Donna called me scheduled me and answered any questions I had. She sent a reminder text the day before which I really appreciate because with all this moving & trying to get settled I did not put his appointment on calendar in phone. So I dropped him off this morning at 8:30 am everyone was nice & very friendly. We went over his cut and we left. I received a message around 10:45 am that he would be ready in 30 minutes. Everything was smooth and I was happy to see how happy my Fubu was. He was adopted at 1 years old by me & had been abused. So to feel & see how comfortable he was made my heart feel good. We were SO nervous to have our mini golden doodle groomed. He had a ton of matting and historically was anxious around blow dryers. Vanity Fur took their time to talk with me before he was groomed and I felt very comfortable leaving him in their hands. Their facility is also set up wonderfully and super clean. When I picked him up, I braced myself for a bad haircut due to all the mats, but they did such a wonderful job. He somehow looks even cuter than before. If I could give zero stars I would.I came here and right off the bat I had red flags. No one wanted my dog's papers for her vaccines. I brought them and asked if they needed them and was told no. All the other groomers we have been to asked for them in advance. I should have turned and left right away. But, I heard good things about this place, so I thought maybe there is a reason they didn't need them. They gave me back my dog a mess. Her cut is spotty and uneven. She is shaved to the skin in some places. Her face is uneven.She does not even smell like she was washed. I was asked if she has ever been groomed before. We have taken her every month since we have had her. This is nothing new to her. We have never had a problem. Never once. I would never recommend this place to anyone. My dog has been shaking for 2 days and looks awful. read more

Second time taking my dogs to Vanity Fur. Very disappointed this time. For 2 large dogs, it was $142 plus $14 tip... Which pops up on the screen.
