Made an online appt for a grooming (not first time customer) for my dog. Online the itemized bill was $64 plus $5.99 for haircut and materials. When I was ready to leave the groomer showed me the itemized bill. There was an additional $10 fee for a shave, brushout, and scissoring. When I asked the manager, he said that's a new fee. The Pet Supermarket felt exactly like the name, a big nothing unique pet store with several aisles of various inventory. The Petco surprisingly had many sections that mimicked an amusement park theme providing a pet shopping adventure instead of a common pet store. Upon entry they had a small carriage full of custom doggy treats for sale in a variety of flavors. In addition to endless bundles of dry food including a cooler loaded with gourmet healthy option called Just For Dogs and Just For Cats, but be prepared to pay the piper from $10.99 - $44.95. The flavors vary including Venison Squash and Turkey & Whole Wheat Macaroni. The Petco Zoo was my favorite section with live rabbits, hamsters, ferrets and fish amonst many other pet options. The prices at Petco seem to be in line with other retail pet stores who continue to deal with the behemoth Amazon at every turn. Fortunately, this store provided a fun shopping experience which Amazon cannot. They offer a Vetco total care veterinary hospital for your pet's health needs. In addition, this store provides a full service grooming area that includes washing, nails, and tick care. My dog passed away after grooming from Petco due to negligence and Petco refuses to give me a reason or explanation as to what happened. For your family and your own pet's health and safety do not bring your pet to Petco!!! My dog was in perfectly good health and went to the vet 2 days before and was perfectly healthy. After dropping my dog off to get groomed Petco called to say my french bulldog was vomiting and his gums were pale. I now realize something happened which they refuse to disclose and Petco basically gave my dog back to not take responsibility for whatever they might have done. My french bulldog unfortunately stopped breathing soon after being picked up from Petco and passed away. I spoke to the grooming manager and the Petco district manager who said they would do an investigation and no information has been told me. This review is for the grooming. They did a good job and I was thankful to have a morning appointment. They didn't seem to want me to wait around. After the third person said it was going to be two hours, I left. When 2 and a half hours past and I received no phone call, I went back. They called the wrong number. The first thing they asked me for when I dropped him off was my phone number. I got him 45 minutes after he was done. Maybe not the biggest deal but I wanted to take him as soon as he was done. That is the reason for being the first customer of the day and waiting outside for 15 minutes for them to open. The summer cut is good and I thought the groomer was kind to our labradoodle so 4 stars. I will use them again. read more

I've been looking for the perfect hamster wheel for my beloved Murray. He's a short haired adorable Syrian hamster. He's pretty long do I wanted a wheel to fit him comfortably for his daily dose of excercise. I had visited other pet stores but they were either to big or way to small. Behold, I come to this store and they have the perfect sized one for him and several colors to choose from. Got him the green one and it even specified that this was a non noise maker wheel, perfect! I also needed some bedding and was happy to see they had a brand I use to use that was more for a "natural" environment fo or him. Couldn't help but spoil him and get some gourmet food (mixed with fruit, nuts, berries, and dried worms) and some fruity treats. Come to this Petco every once in a while to buy food for our reptiles. The staff is always very nice and friendly. The store is always neat and clean. We love coming in during the holidays to look at all the pet costumes and treats! Wellness Center This was my first time there, I drove up from south Miami to this clinic and it is so worth the drive!!! Tech Jackie was amazing she was so sweet!! She was very informative very patient with Mia whom has severe anxiety & Mia went off as if she'd known Jackie forever, which made me super comfortable. Dr. Kiddle is amazing he gave me great suggestions and explained Mia's issues and what were some alternatives if worse case scenario! He was amazing I will continue driving up an hour or so! The prices are actually really good. I had been quoting around in the south Miami area and honestly I saved like $60 dollars or more. I called first for a guide and the front desk receptionist was super nice and professional. Overall this place has the most professional and courteous employees. I highly recommend coming to this location. It was a great experience. I plan on getting a puppy soon and this will be my primary vet location for sure. Please consider the drive it is very worth it. I arrived before my appointment time, but still the manager was looking for an excuse to reschedule my appointment. my two dogs have been coming here since they opened up. they would get groomed by these two older women (one with red hair and one with gray hair) who they adored and so did i. i came back about 2 -3 months ago to get groomed but it seems like management changed. the bald guy with the glasses is very rude and doesn't really care about your dogs. said that my dog had bit one of the new groomer whereas he's never bit anyone until now. he wouldn't do it unless he was being handled roughly. they really just groom to get money, they don't really take their time to make sure your pets are groomed properly and professionally. it's sad that i've been coming here for the past 5 years but now i have to find a new place. read more

Dr. Dora was able to identify the issue within five minutes of seeing my dog and, together with Dr. Brady Jorth, completed a successful surgery for her life-threatening pyometra infection on the same day! Two words. NEVER AGAIN. I was very excited for my first grooming experience with PETCO despite how many have told me to avoid using their grooming services due to lack of quality. Now I understand why. My groomers name was Valentina. I had shown them the haircut I asked for and they did well with the general hair cut. HOWEVER...even though I told them please cut my standard poodles tail hair it's too long they said no because it would look weird. When I pick up my dog his ears are still filthy and they had charged me for those services. Not only were his ears not cleaned, his nails were terribly trimmed and long hairs sticking out between the web of the paws. Im not the type to leave reviews but this needed to be shared. read more

Petco "the place where dogs can't be dogs " In Petco dogs can't bark. I put my dog in training classes so that she could learn how to not bark at people. When she barked the first time, she got banned from Petco Training Classes. ( I registered my dog for classes where they supposedly teach her not to bark) and they canceled me because my dog was barking. My dog never barked aggressively, she just feels nervous to meet people the first time. "She is just a real dog". Now, one year later I took her to trim the nails and she was scared to go inside and started barking walking backwards and they couldn't do the service. Now my question is : Are they supposed to know how to treat dogs? So, why dogs can't be dogs? I mean dogs bark!! I am very disappointed and unsatisfied with Petco and therefore I don't recommend any Petco services if you have a terrier. read more

I went to Petco for my fur babies vaccinations. I registered and waited about one hour. The vet was great, a lady who was very nice and gentle to both patients and parents. Her assistant, was great. He obviously loves animals and his job. The vet told me I had to return in 15 days for the other vaccine because my babies are too small (chihuahuas) to get all the shots at once. I returned in 15 days and the vet was not there. I was offered a "discount coupon" but that was not good to me because I had already paid the full price during my first visit. I was asked to return in 15 days. I returned to the same Petco 15 days later and, the person that took my information told me that there was a waiting line of about 2 hours and that I would get a text message when I was the next in line. I got no message so I returned in about 1 1/2 hours and waited in line. The disorganization was awful. There was this man that arrived later and just stood there near the recepcionist and when the recepcionist was free, took care of him first (it may be a cultural thing, people from some places are not aware of others waiting in line before them, and I rather avoid a confrontation but I think the recepcionist has to have a process). When i got to the recepcionist I told her that she should take care of customers waiting in line first and not whomever would walk to her. She apologized but said that I had to show up earlier when they called me (I had been waiting in line for more than 30 minutes by now). I said well how come I never got any text message otherwise I would have been here, she said that they had some technical issue with the app. Also she said that since my case was the second shot, I shouldn't have had to wait when I first arrived. I said how would I know? She said the first person that took care of me should have told me so. Anyway, she put me next in line to get the shots, ahead of the man that had jumped the line. When I got to the vaccination table, I saw the kind guy that loved dogs and his job. But I didnt see the lady vet. There was another man standing there wearing a baseball hat and shorts. It happened that he was the vet. At first I thought he was an aid, or a customer or just a bystander. I am sorry Petco, you may think that a minimum dress code for a vet is not important. To me it is. I didn't take my pets to a free vaccination place in the middle of a community park or to a rainforest excursion. Some things are important. That veterinarian gave me the impression that he was anyone that came from the street on vacation that had to wear shorts and that was acting as a vet. You may claim that a dress code is not relevant but only if they are competent, but at least none of the vets I have visited before were wearing shorts and a baseball hat. Impressions are important. Furthermore, he was not even friendly as the lady vet and of it wasnt for the friendly assistant, I would have walked out. I will never take my pets to your store for a vaccination again. While I understand that you subcontract someone to do the shots, you should establish the rules and minimum standards that paying customers deserve. Your process is disorganized, inefficient and lacks minimum codes. Lets see if you are happy when you take your own children to a dr you dont know and he is wearing a jungle tour guide outfit. Then maybe make it a habit, have all your staff inside your stores wear flip flops, shorts and baseball hats, and heck they aren't even veterinarians.. read more

When I asked for a reason, their reply was that the last time he was there he misbehaved and pooped while getting groomed. Ridiculous. So why did they give me an appointment that I waited a week for? If I could give negative stars I would. I would also post pictures of my poor dog. The groomer should be relieved of her job as a groomer ASAP. I took my 5 lb Pomeranian (long hair - non shedding) and my 8 lb Cheweenia (very short hair - sheds horrible) he is also a dapple so he has spots. I told her, the Pom needs shaved down to a puppy cut - and pointed to her (she is white) and I just want the boy (dark brown and black) de-shedded, bath, and nails. She said ok and she would call when they are done. She called, I went and picked the slips up to pay while she went to get my dogs. I paid - was asked to tip, without seeing the dogs, which I stupidly did. Then I saw them. The Pom was ok - her hair grows back so quick it does matter is she is a bit messy. My dapple chiweenie however was shaved bald. I was so upset and angry I left the store, called and asked to speak to a manager- they said if I go in, they will refund the cost of his shaving - which was 50.00. I have always been nice to customers trying to help them but with the other employee she doesn't do anything, always on the phone, taking smoke breaks every 10 minutes how can I work like that. My dog was injured while being groomed at this location. While I can accept that accidents happen, what I cannot accept is the horrible way it was dealt with. The evening after the grooming, I noticed my dog excessively licking himself in an area and upon inspection I noticed a bruise, so I went back to Petco the next day and asked to speak to a manager. I asked for a manager, but the woman I was referred to said she was a "manager", but she wasn't the "store manager", and since she wasn't on duty when it happened, there is nothing she could do. She looked at a photo of the injury and said it was just a razor burn and suggested I buy some spray to use on it. She said I could try to contact the store manager sometime during the week if "I was looking to get something out of it". I explained I don't even know what that is supposed to mean and further explained that I want to make sure the store is aware of what happened to my dog when he was groomed here. Two days later, when the injury did not get any better, I took my dog to the vet and was given medicated wipes and told to monitor it. I attempted to contact the store manager again, this time by phone, but got the same manager. I advised her I had to take my dog to the vet and that I needed to speak to the store manager about it, to which she replied that it was a really bad week for him and I should probably call back next week. Instead I contacted PETCO corporate, who took my information and eventually got me in touch with a district manager. He explained that the manager was wrong and that she should have never just let me walk out after advising her that my dog was injured in their store. He said that she should have known this and will make sure she is retrained on the matter. He also explained that they would pay for my vet bill, refund me for the grooming session I paid for, refund me for the spray I was instructed to buy, and will give me a free grooming session in the future as a way to earn my business back. Unfortunately the injury got worse and I had to bring my dog back to the vet a second time. This time he required a shot and a prescription of meds due to the area getting infected. I called the district manager back to advise him of how the injury got worse, but only received his voicemail. He did not call me back, and instead referred it back to the store manager who eventually called me later that day. The store manager explained that he had been out the previous week, and apologized for the incident and assured me the bill would be taken care of and that he would be handling the incident now. At first his concern appeared genuine as he called me the following two days to check on how my dog was doing and to make plans to arrange to pay the vet bill. He explained the easiest thing was to have the vet refund me the cost and they would pay via a corporate card, which they did when I had my follow up visit. That was the last I ever heard from anyone from PETCO. They never followed up again after that. They never reimbursed me for a cone I had to buy at another store, so that the vet could modify it to prevent my dog from getting at the wound, and never followed up with their offer for a free grooming session (which at this point I wouldn't want based on how poorly we were treated after the fact). They accidently injured my dog, which resulted in me having to make multiple trips to the vet, I spent a lot of time visiting/calling their store and corporate office and explaining the story over and over again just to get a competent person to handle the situation. I spent my time money on things I would not have had, if it wasn't for the injury and all they were willing to do was pay the vet bill, which in reality was only the shot and medication because I have a prepaid plan so the actual vet visits cost nothing. If things were handled better, I would have certainly been back and just considered the injury a accident that likely would not happen again, but not after the poor way the situation was handled, being told I would be reimbursed for something I wasn't (the cone), not receiving the free grooming session I was told I would, not being offered anything additional as a way of saying sorry, or get well for my dog, such as a bag of treats or toy. I would think in a circumstance like this and after screwing up with how it was handled, they would offer something for the poor little guy, especially since he had to endure multiple visits to the vet, a shot, medication, and spending two weeks wearing that lamp-shade looking cone on his head, they would. Worst thing of all is after they paid the vet bill, there was not one follow up call to find out how he was doing, or if he was fully recovered. That to me says they don't care about their customers or their pets. read more

I came to this Petco earlier this week after scheduling a grooming appointment. Now, I cannot speak to the quality of their grooming- mostly because my dog never made it that far. After standing at the front desk of the grooming section waiting for someone to help me, I was finally greeted by an employee and asked if I had an appointment. I informed them that I did in fact have an appointment scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The employee looked through their appointments and then told me that I had been marked as a no-show, because my appointment was for 10:30 a.m. Now, this could have been a mixup on my part, except that my wife had called the day before to confirm the appointment and in turn verified that it was at 11:00 a.m. The employee offered their apologies, but really made no effort to rectify the issue, saying that they could "squeeze me in" the following day if I was available near the end of their hours. I was honestly pretty steamed at that point that the whole process seemed incredibly disorganized, but I was trying to make it work. In the midst of trying to figure out the best way to proceed, another employee (maybe a manager judging by the uniform) came to speak to the employee while holding a paper in his hand. He stated to the employee that they needed to stop what they were doing and finish filling out "this paper" because they technically did not work for the store, and they would need to let them go. That was my big WTF moment. Why was someone who doesn't even have their employment paperwork finished entrusted with people's dogs?! The scheduling was sloppy, but this disorganization seemed to come from the top down. This isn't a restaurant or a normal retail store where you can just get a second chance on an off day when it comes to customer service. You are being trusted with my best friend- and if you can't even get your employee paperwork or scheduling right, then we'll just go elsewhere. read more

We love the Petco grooming team but especially Maribel!!!! Our Raameses, a Basenji, a rare breed doesn't require much grooming. In fact, only his nails are what needs trimming. Maribel has a way of getting him to "sit" for his nail trimming treatment, which also allows for a tail trim or even a blueberry facial. He literally runs into the store looking for her, bypassing the treats, just to get scratchies & kisses from Maribel. She always checks his ears and anal gland which, in Raameses, are areas for concern, who knew??? Maribel does! She truly cares & Raameses & The Garcia's love her! read more

I personally had a great grooming experience, not sure if they've upgraded groomers or not, Kristy took care of both my husky mix 86lb and my 14 lb chihuahua. What I loved about her besides her doing an amazing job at grooming my pets was her willingness to take my little one because she is not a fan of strangers and can be quite feisty (no exaggeration) but Kristy kmade it work and my little one came out very happy, of course her nails couldn't be trimmed but I understood since I know how my doggie is. read more

My dog molly had a ear infection last year we took her in to get checked out from the receptionist to nurse to the dr the quality of customer service was profound they were all so nice and really broke down what was wrong. A week later she has a full blown seizure lasting an hour I had to rush her to the Er in Cooper City. I spent over $600 and the doctors could barley explain what they think was wrong. After the emergency care I came here to the Petco vet again so they can take a look at the ear and to give me some second opinions on the twitching molly was still experiencing. Dr Simon broke down everything for over a half hour I've never had a doctor for my own check ups or vet be so detailed I wasn't rushed he broke down all the scenarios I walked out really knowing my options.
